We started our trip to Kruger NP in the Lion Sands Ivory Lodge. We were impressed by the extrodinary architecture. Our host Meagan, the whole staff and especially our guide Werner and our tracker Noel we will never forget. We have seen the Big Five in our three days and what is even more exciting a huge group of wild dogs with their puppies. A special thank you to Meagan and Werner for their helpfulness!
Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is absolutely stunning — an incredibly luxurious property with beautiful rooms and excellent service. A special thank you to Solly, who took such wonderful care of us throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the game drive experience fell a little short of our expectations. Drives were generally under three hours, and vehicles were often full with six guests plus guide and tracker. For us, luxury on safari is not only about the room, but also about exclusivity and flexibility in the bush, and we have experienced other luxury lodges where vehicles are limited to four guests. We also encountered quite a few other vehicles, sometimes having to take turns at sightings, and often drove through the same areas. Our guide James and tracker Joe were lovely and did a great job — this felt more related to how the safari experience is organized rather than to them personally. Overall, an exceptional lodge and wonderful service, but for us the game drive experience didn’t quite match the level of the property.
Where to begin, this lodge exceeded all of our expectations. The accommodations are magnificent the wild animals that walk through the surrounding area that you can view from the lodge were amazing. Our guide and tracker that we spent four days with were so caring warm and knowledgeable. We saw the big five multiple times. in one morning drive we saw the big five in 2 1/2 hours along with baby lion cubs, baby elephants, animals nursing wild dogs we even got to see an extremely rare pangolin.. so many many amazing moments.. I guarantee you will love every minute of it…
We will forever be dreaming of the Ivory Lodge. We spent three nights there to start off our honeymoon and everything was an absolute dream. From the amazing meals, staff, game drives and amenities there is truly nothing like the Ivory Lodge. Everyone there makes your feel at home and the small guest size makes it feel extremely intimate. Mike and Lloyd were a fantastic duo and made each drive exciting and full of sightings. Selinah and the rest of the team took amazing care of us and the spa was top notch. We also did a night in the treehouse and it was absolutely once in a lifetime experience.
Our stay at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge was absolutely unforgettable and exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the lodge itself was incredible. The safari experience itself was amazing. Our field guide and tracker were phenomenal. Thanks to them, we saw the Big 5 several times over, along with countless other incredible moments including wild dogs! Every drive felt unique and exciting, and their ability to track animals and share insights about the bush made the experience even more special. A highlight of our stay was Elon, the lodge's sommelier. He thoughtfully selected wines for us withe very meal, and each pairing elevated the dining experience even further. He also curated a private wine tasting for us that ended up the most fun night of our stay. It was such a unique and personal experience, and honestly something the lodge should officially offer as a featured guest experience because it was that exceptional! The level of hospitality across the entire lodge was outstanding, and every detail felt intentional and personalized. Lion Sands delivered the perfect combination of luxury, adventure and we can't wait to return!
