It’s not as scary as you think it might be. The guides explain everything and provide a wonderful meal. The others in our group felt like dear friends by the end of the evening.

This was a great experience, great guide. The food offering was great. To experience the traditional sauna experience is well worth doing in my opinion.
This experience was absolutely one of our very favorite during our trip to Finland, Norway and Sweden. It was our first time in an authentic sauna, and then the cold outside, and the icy lake. The sauna was incredible, the moist heat felt wonderful, and adding the provided essential oil in was just perfect. Thank you to Alex who had prepared the sauna to be just at the right temperature when we stepped in. I thought it would be really cold outside when we went out for a break, but it felt amazing. It was a beautiful evening and my favorite place was the swing right outside the sauna where I could gently swing and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the quiet sounds of nature, before heading back into the sauna. When it was time to head into the house for dinner, the fragrant aromas of Tanya's kitchen met us. We knew that there was a delight awaiting us! And, it was! Tanya had prepared a delicious feast of salmon, potatoes, and red pepper strips with a dill sauce that was incredible. And, cookies!! All of this dining inside their sweet home on the lake. After dinner, Alex and Tanya came back in the house and we visited for a while, asking them questions and they sharing a verbal and tangible picture of their life here. It was an incredible evening and one that I would definitely, definitely return to if ever back in this area!! Alex and Tanya, thank you for this wonderful experience!
I just got back from the most amazing winter evening experience! Our guides Pedro and Tanja were absolutely wonderful! We did sauna and dip into the lake 4 times! Had the most delicious smoked salmon dinner with glogi and a great, educational conversation with Pedro. I will be coming back in the summer and I hope Pedro and Tanja will be here! Thank you for one of the best evenings of my life!!!!
What a great evening! If you want a unique experience that you will always remember this is for you. After warming up in the wood sauna, we all took a dip in the freezing lake. It was so refreshing and invigorating - we couldn't believe how good we felt afterwards. The evening concluded with a delicious salmon dinner. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
I highly recommend this tour! Not only is it fun to sit in the sauna and jump in the pond (it sounds scary with the arctic temperatures but you can do it), Alex and Tanja were so knowledgeable on topics such as the Northern Lights, traditional foods (it was delicious), culture and so much more. I think what really makes this experience above and beyond is how personal you feel though. We went in a small group of 8 and it makes all the difference. Sign up for this tour, you won't regret it!
We absolutely loved this experience. The host was very welcoming and had lots of interesting things to tell us about finish culture. The setting was very scenic and traditional. Once we plucked up the courage for the dip into the lake we loved it and ended up going back for more! Very fun experience.
This was definitely one of the best experiences of my life, experiencing Lappish life! The sauna and dip in the cold frozen lake felt amazing and the dinner was delicious and felt homely. Alex and Tanja were so kind and made us feel very welcomed.
The most amazing experience in Lapland! We were warmly welcomed and had the most relaxing sauna with lake dips. We felt the true authentic Finnish sauna experience. It was incredible. Follow that with and amazing traditional meal served in cozy surroundings. Alex & Tanya were wonderful hosts. We cannot recommend this enough, you will not be disappointed.
By far our most memorable and photogenic excursion in Finland. When we look back on our trip, this is the true standout - an authentic experience, mesmerizing views, and charismatic hosts who welcomed us into their homes and taught us about Finnish culture. If you are hesitant about the ice dipping experience - I highly recommend you give it a try as my body has never felt better!
100% recommended. We LOVED Finland, but this experience was top-rated by the entire family (ages 12-44). Beautiful scenery, lovely sauna, gregarious hosts, delectable dinner. This was an all-inclusive AMAZING evening. Polar Plunge - we did it!
We had a great evening with Tanya. The sauna experience was amazing - traditional finish sauna close to the lake. The surrounding was breathtaking. The dinner was delicious.. We recommend it strongly to everyone in Lappland. /Maya and Javi
This is absolutely amazing!! The sauna is traditional wood fire with hot stones. Very secluded and private location. There’s frozen lake you can dip into as well. And it finished with a very traditional meal in a proper Finnish house. Had a very very good time. Cannot recommend enough. We only had 4 people in the whole group and it was perfect.
It was really amazing tour. Alex and Tanya were very friendly with us, they get a especial experience. Tour consist in a really hot sauna that tou learn how to use to modulate the heat, when you are ready you must go out to play with snow, take photos or, if you are a hero like us, take a bath in an almost frozen lake. After that they bring us a really amazing dinner in a typical cottage. They offer this activity for small groups, we where 4 people. That offers the possibility to interact with lappish wildness which is amazing. Thank you very much and we hope see you soon.
Tanya picked us up at our hotel & drove us to her beautiful family owned private property with an incredible view! The sauna has already been heating up since 2pm that day by her husband. Since it is a traditional Finnish sauna, it is heat up by burning wood alone which requires a much longer time. In the sauna, there’s a private area for changing & refreshments. Inside the sauna, She’s provided us essential oils for the sauna which gave the extra relaxation. We also did a few snow angels & jumped into the frozen lake 2x which is on my bucket to-do list. The smoked salmon was delicious!!! There were hot berry juice; bread; fresh vegetable; baked potatoes & ginger cookies. Everything was absolutely fantastic; Tanya is so gracious & friendly. We enjoyed every minute of it!!! Don’t think twice to book with Nordic Adventure!!
I went here with my 16 year old son and we had a great evening. We went in sauna and in the cold lake and in the snow! A lot of fun. Then we were served nice, smoked salmon. We felt very welcomed and would go there again.
My wife and I had a great time with our hosts. The sauna they had was authentic and beautiful and we only shared it with 2 other people, so the environment was nice and not crowded but fun and friendly. They cooked a very nice salmon dinner with a delicious dill onion sauce that I need to find the recipe for.
Love the wilderness and the private experience in the sauna & pond for ice swimming! The food are DELICIOUS! Thank you for sharing all those lovely stories. If opportunity arise, we will be back for summer adventure!
A great night with my wife and our teenage son enjoying the woodfired sauna and ice dip.. followed by a cozy fire and a delicious dinner - highly recommended
Friendly hosts who shared a lot of information with us about everyday life in Finland. We especially like the fruity drink "glöggi", but missed some alcohol for the better mood.
On the April 14, 2019 my friend and I met Alex Rudyuk, our driver and owner of this extraordinary tour, at the lobby of our hotel. - It takes roughly 30 min from the center of Rovaniemi to Alex's private estate. - The traditional woodfire sauna room is situated next to a walkway that leads to the partially melted Lagonlampi lake. - The whole place is clean and safe. You can walk barefoot without worries. - Alex gave us a very thorough intruction on how the Finnish enjoy their thermal retreat. His encouragement for us to jump into the frozen cold is reassuring. - After about 1.5 hour of sauna and cold bath, we were served with a marvelously grilled marinated local salmon. The dining room has a very cozy and homely atmosphere with and open fireplace. - Alex is a very nice and informative Finnish nature lover local guide who can give you an authentic account of how living in the wild is like in the modern world. - For me, this is a must if you are visiting Rovaniemi.
Winter is my favorite season and it is associated with my childhood. I’ve been dreaming to visit Finland for a long time, because for me it is the country where Santa Claus lives and Christmas mystery never ends. Last year I decided to take a vacation in winter and fully enjoy the Christmas holidays. My husband and I decided to invite few friends, so that we could have small group experience without other participants. Local guide Alex from Nordic Adventures helped us to organize everything. Our children wanted to meet Santa Claus so badly, so we decided to start our trip from the capital of Lapland – Rovaniemi, where Santa’s official office is located. It was an amazing feeling to see Santa, sit next to him, make wishes, photos and video. Then we visited an exhibition of snowmobiles, which traditionally takes place every year in Santa Claus village. Also, we went to the Snowman World and it was a small wonderland. There simply are not enough words to describe everything. Santa’s helpers – elfs – are everywhere and they also helped us to send postcards to our friends and relatives from official Santa’s Post office. That tour lasted for 5 hours and it was just great! We decided to continue our day visiting traditional Finnish sauna. Our guide Alex took us for a short drive (about 22 km) to a magical forest, where there was a private lake with wooden-burned sauna and a cottage with the fireplace. Nature there was amazing! After warming up in sauna, we jumped into the icy lake and snow, which made this holiday truly unforgettable. Therefore, I recommend everyone to have a rest in Finland, especially in the winter. I highly recommend Nordic Adventures, if you wish to have a real lifetime experience in Finnish Lapland!
An experience to absolutely repeat. The traditional sauna is fantastic and not comparable to the electric one, bathing in the frozen lake is a must try! Delicious dinner with smoked salmon and potatoes cooked the same evening by the owner in the very welcoming cottage. At the end of the dinner we also ate homemade biscuits and other delicacies.
Perfect evening to end our stay! Traditional sauna and delicious smoked salmon! I highly recommend. The hostess Danielle is great!
I can only recommend with my eyes closed!! Incredible experience, in small group so that is great and our guide Pedro, was amazing! And on top of that, we had the chance to see the Northern Lights!! Amazing. Go ahead!
a real experience, really amazing, I recommend the hosts was amazing kindness!
It was a magical night. Two of us, three others, and a total of five of us thoroughly enjoyed the wood-fired Finnish sauna for two hours, and took on the challenge of diving into the frozen lake! It's completely in place. For dinner, we had a very large grilled salmon, fresh vegetables and ginger cookies in a nice cottage, and were full of stomachs. The guide seemed to explain it in English but with clear words. Next time I want to go pick mushrooms and berries on the midnight sun of summer.
Thanks to your dear alex and wife for the ultimate experience. A unique beauty of nature and sauna delight. It was nice to experience all the serenity and nature in the sauna.
