Snowmobile Safari To Search For The Northern Lights

This tour is so much fun! Our guide explained how to use the snowmobiles before hand of course and made sure that we understood. I did this with my sister and we got to take turns driving. We did not see the northern lights as it was cloudy and snowing but regardless of whether you see them or not, it is still a great experience. We stopped few times along the way to take pictures. We had warm juice and cookies and half way through. I would definitely recommend this tour while in Rovaniemi.

Absolutely fun! It was very long and at times scary because there would be people that drive really slowly and we would lose sight of the guide and would be trying to keep up constantly. Easy access to the place, bear in mind you have to cross the road) its right next to the gas station. Friendly staff, easy instructions, snowmobiles are fun and easy to drive. Stopped in the middle of nowhere for chocolate and sausages, quite an experience. Didnt see the lights but had loads of fun. They provide the equipment, so dont worry too much. Only thing, I would drive all customers to their hotels, not just the ones in Rovaniemi. We were located up Santas Village and had to walk to it in the dark and on the road. Also kids and people who desire not too rides the bikes go in the front with the guide all nicely covered with a blanket.

An awesome experience whilst in Rovenimi, definitely jump on a snow mobile time if you can. Wild Nordic from start to finish were very easy to deal with, from resending the booking confirmation for me to the pick up, tour and drop off process. Everything was seamless and easy to follow. We had awesome guides (Bruno and Roy), who were great with both their interactions but also the knowledge they shared. We didn't see the lights, but that's okay as there was plenty more to experience. I would say, if you don't want to sit behind slower people pick the snowmobile behind the guides, we got stuck behind some slower drivers and it did make it slightly less enjoyable.

Our guide Lisa was just amazing. She brought us to an amazing open sapce to spot the Northern lights. I higly recommend the guide and the the complete team at the Wild Nordic center for all your excursions.

This tour is not in Helsinki. We booked this under the impression it was. I was asked 5 days before we travelled to update our Hotel pick up. I emailed my response with our address in Helsinki. At no point we’re we told that this tour is 700 kilometres (approx) from where we were staying. This is not the only tour offered in Helsinki that is NOT actually anywhere near Helsinki.

To start we did not see the Northern Lights but that did not matter this trip was still great and our guide, Yngve, made the trip even better! Yngve took us on a snow mobile ride through the forest. I have two small kids and he made the experience so memorable for them. He drove past trees and made the snow fall into the snow mobile (which they loved!!) we had a campfire and roasted cinnamon buns and Yngve played with and joked with my kids the whole time it was a fantastic experience and we forgot about the disappointment of not seeing the Northern lights. We organised a number of tours in Rovaneimi with Wild Nordic. I was impressed by their professionalism and the range of activities offered on the tours. Most of all their guides and fun and made our trip to Rovanemi even more special I cannot speak more highly of this company and their tour guides!

We went on the northern lights snow mobile Safari and had the most amazing time - our guide Martin was the best, really lovely guy, we actually done 2 tours with him and loved both - we were lucky enough to see the northern lights also! We also went on the snow mobile ice fishing tour which was also an amazing experience our guide yngve was really nice and full of experience so thank you to Martin and yngve for making our holiday so amazing and if we return to Rovaniemi we will definitely be using you again- Highly recommend tours with wild Nordic!!

We are a family of 15 and took a private snow mobile ride searching the Norther Lights with Wild Nordic. Gorgeous (and lucky) ride: thanks to our guide, Alexis, we were able to see them, in a cold (-26 C) and clear night. Alexis is a very professional, entertaining, passionate, experienced and …. - why not - lucky guide. While driving the snow mobiles towards the north (polar star ahead of us, showing the way!), under a magnificent clear and starry sky, we suddenly stopped because Alexis - with his experience - caught beautiful Northern Lights in front of us. We shut down all the lights and stared at them for a while: bright and amazing Northern Lights. We got back on the move after 15 min. and enjoyed another magnificent scene: Northern Lights in the sky, Alexis lighted the fire, cooked sausages for the whole group and served some hot tea. Unforgettable evening. Thank you Wild Nordic and thank you Alexis.

We decided to do the activity of Snowmobile to catch northern Lights. It was one of the best experiences of our lives! Due to corona te group was reduced and we had the opportunity to spend some great time surrounded by Finland's nature. The activity was perfectly organized. The guide, Dominick came to pick us up to the hotel and we drove to the company's office to change clothes and boots and to pick up the necessary equiptment to carry out the activity. Then he explained the driving agreement and we went out to take the snowmobile. Dominick taught us how to drive the snowmobile and then we began our journey. During the drive, we swoped turns to drive, so each one of us could drive. We liked that Dominick gave us a lot of freedom when organizing the tour, as he asked us how we felt more comfortable driving and how much time we would like to spend by the fire once we ate some snacks. During the barbacue, he explained a lot of things about northen lights, we also like that he knew a lot about the subject and we had the opportunity to hear some great stories about nothern lights and finnish culture. We were able to see some amazing northern lights as he took us to a great spot for wacthing them. As a conclusion, it was a great experience and Dominick was very nice to us during the whole trip. We strongly recommend this activity!!

We recommend this company for the aurora borealis trip with snowmobile and picnic. The guide was nice, friendly and knows a lot on northern lights. Sausage and picnic was great addition and the snow mobile was fun.

No luck on seeing Northern lights. They should check with us whether we are on vegetarian diet. Bbq of the sausage looks so tempting. Esp when it's so cold, it's makes us more hungier

The company is not in control of the snow or the northern lights but the track was so rutted today that it was an extremely tedious journey out and back. I don’t have a problem with the speed like other reviewers - snowmobiles aren’t toys. But the interminable series of ruts and bumps made this a massive drag. My wife and I were excited about the trip but even with driving the snowmobile for the 1st time - no real fun to be had and certainly no adventure. My wife on the back was totally unimpressed. I want to be fair. The guides were nice and chatty and helpful and they built a good fire, and the equipment was excellent but hard to call this a safari. It’s a commercial trip along a track that hundreds of snowmobiles have been down before. The company don’t control the snow but they do use the tracks all day for their snowmobile tours, along with other tour companies too. So they are all responsible for it and the condition it’s in. I wouldn’t mention a picnic either - a sausage and a hot juice is not a picnic in my book, it’s a snack. All in all, if the track had been in better condition I would have said the trip was okay. With the track this bad though, I don’t think they should be running it. I’m not sure about the northern lights description too. With this phrase I’m the title, I would have expected some advice about how to take pictures and some tripods to borrow.

On Christmas eve we took the 2 hr snowmobile ride with 2 adults and 1 child. Our 7yo daughter was pulled behind our guides snowmobile in an open sleigh and had warm blankets to keep her warm. The trek was very bumpy so those being towed in the wooden seat sleigh felt the bumps. My wife and I rode tandem on a snowmobile stopping half way to swap drivers. Where we stopped our guide lit a campfire were we stood around and chartered as he cooked sausages over the open flames in the forrest. We went to see the Northern lights, however the skys where overcast so maybe next time... This is a great time to do the tour in Winter as it is very dark. We rode through the forest and it is very beautiful. Sadly you don’t get to go that fast, as we followed our guide who was towing the sleigh with our daughter. You need to have a international drivers licence to ride on the snow mobile. My daughter enjoyed the trip, the snowball fight with our guide and loved to sausages cooked ovre the open fire. Thank you for a very memorable experience

A great chance to experience the rush of driving a snowmobile in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately the conditions didn’t deliver the Northern Lights but our excellent guide Samir made sure it was a fantastic trip nonetheless. Was amazing !!! The snowmobile were a lot of fun my children and I was pulled on sleigh and my husband was on snowmobile it was easy to ride the bonfire was lovely and the berry juice was nice. Even though this time we did not get to see the lights it was an overall amazing experience. The guides was fantastic at making sure everyone was happy and safe !!!

Firstly, the staff and guide are brilliant ensuring everyone is ok and making it as fun as possible. My only issue is they have these super impressive snowmobiles but only ever go 10kmh for me personally I did get a little bored going so slowly.

<p>Beside it being a cloudy night not the companies fault the trails got so bumpy in certain areas that needed grooming part of the ride was uncomfortable for the passenger. However, the stop for berry juice was very relaxing and beautiful.</p>

Tourist trap excursion! 32 people and 16 snowmobiles. No charm, everyone in line at 30km/h. No sensation. It is nowhere indicated that there are so many people. 50 min motorbike ride. Sausage picnic for 5 euros. Being 32 in a cabin is not charming. No explanation about the Northern Lights. No breaks to take photos. Too expensive for the service.

Personally, I flew to Finland with the goal of driving a snowmobile through nature and seeing the Northern Lights. And that was really an incredible experience! In fact, I even created this Tripadvisor account just to report on it! We were picked up at the agreed meeting point, received special clothing and an instruction on how to operate the snowmobile... And then it started straight away! The tour was absolutely awesome. The area is really a deserted but beautiful wasteland where you would have been completely disoriented without a guide. Since we didn’t see any Northern Lights at the first spot, the guide decided to drive another spot deeper to the north. Our guide has really done everything possible to provide us with a cool experience. On the second spot we were actually lucky. Here we could see the Northern Lights. Afterwards we were told myths and legends about the Northern Lights, as well as various interesting facts around the campfire. We were really incredibly lucky with our guide. Not only did he (Mr. Klavs, if I read the name on the map correctly) a really deep fascination and love for both nature, snowmobiling and the job as a guide, equally he has also completely managed to let this passion jump to us. The tour was probably one of the best experiences of my life. Really! A few small comments for those interested in booking a tour like this: We have to confess that we were really lucky. For one thing, Northern Lights are super rare. On the other hand, there were only two of us on the tour (three with the guide), which of course has its own flair. Usually there are more people in a tour. What is annoying, however, is that the pick-up service only extends to the center of Rovaniemi. We had our apartment just outside. However, since we wanted to go downtown that day anyway, that was no problem for us. On the way back another, also very nice guide made an exception and drove us home/to the AirB&B anyway. It was for us the best activity of our stay, small apprehension because we left in the evening but it turned out to be a magical moment. Our guide was really friendly and the BBQ in the middle of nowhere, a real wonderful time 🩷

Our local guide was very nice and gave us great entertainment. We were lucky enough to get a private tour (at the end of March there are fewer tourists). Nordic offers the full range of warm clothing. We felt comfortable and had a lot of fun - Definitely recommendable!

2 unforgettable snowmobile experiences, with professional guides but also very attentive to everyone. - 1st night with driving to a frozen lake to see a beautiful aurora borealis in the company of Samir, very friendly guide, attentive, humorous and very patient. Despite the cold, we loved sharing sausages on the fire and magical walk. - 2nd with Sonia who put confidence even beginners in driving, and who took us through beautiful landscapes, taking time to make sure everyone felt good. We felt safe, which allowed us to enjoy the whole ride.

Excellent experience! We were the only ones for the excursion with Patrick, the guide and it was just exceptional! We even forgot that no Northern Lights came out! Great time, very fun and crazy!!!! Just as we had hoped! Thank you for this unforgettable moment!

Incredible experience with an additional French guide, the top! The whole snowmobile ride was really great with that feeling of freedom just crazy. Small campfire once arrived on the spot with sausages, it delights! We stayed for a while in this nature, quiet, silent. Luck was with us as we observed the Northern Lights despite the cloudy sky at the start. The guide absolutely adorable, we could discuss his journey among others, and really listening. I recommend 100%!

Great experience, very friendly and attentive guide. Explain the instructions. We were able to see beautiful Northern Lights! Correct equipment but no cover in the sled (with child) so we were a little cold. Otherwise it was really great!

We were picked up on time at the agreed meeting point and taken to the starting point for the tour. After a pretty hectic edition of the clothes, we went out on the snowmobiles. This was followed by a brief briefing and we started a good 10km on the existing snowmobile roads through the forest to a frozen swamp. When we had left the road here to make fire for the tea and sausages, 2 snowmobiles sank in the wet snow while driving. Passengers picked up wet suits and shoes. We had to watch the expedition leaders fight and somehow try to save the situation. Overall a good tour - even better if you see the aurora borealis - only the organization could be better. Tip: remember how cold it gets, wear long clothes under the suits and also put on gloves under the rental gloves !

Nous avions passé la veille une merveilleuse journée en motoneige via une autre agence de Rovaniemi. Quelle ne fût pas notre déception de l experience nocturne proposée par wild Nordic. L industrie du motoneige. Le parcours : un sentier de bosses. Un arrêt feu de camp où nous avons reçu comme repas en tout et pour tout une saucisse et un jus. Meme pas un morceau de pain. Rien. Ensuite retour au point de départ toujours par la même route composée uniquement de bosses. Ce qui bien entendu vous oblige a profiter de votre motoneige à 10km. Nous avons fait de nombreuses activités lors de notre séjour et toutes étaient parfaites. Je ne recommande absolument pas cette excursion. Le prix demande est tout simplement injustifié. Nous avons prévu de revenir avec nos enfants et cette agence sera exclue de toutes nos réservations.
