Rovaniemi: Korouoma Frozen Waterfalls Hike & Campfire Bbq

The hike was awesome and the guide (Sunya/Sanya was her name, I’m sorry if I spelt it wrong) was incredible. My mom fell and she helped us the entire hike. The place was gorgeous and the information we were given was so valuable.

I had an excellent time. James is an amazing guide. Absolutely loved the insights he gave into the fauna, flora and wildlife of the area. Gorgeous scenery. Lots of photographic opportunities. Christmas card material. I have made lots of good memories. James cooks a delicious hotdog with that smoky flavour 😋

These views on this tour were breathtaking! Arctic GM was thorough and accommodating from start to end! A special shout out to our guide James! He was so informed the native plants it was beyond intriguing to learn about everything that came across our path!

Very disappointing and unprofessional experience. I booked two separate experiences with this company — mushroom foraging and berry foraging. The company first cancelled my mushroom foraging experience at the last minute. I contacted them and explained that I found it extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate to cancel an experience so close to the date, especially when customers plan their travel itineraries around confirmed bookings. Despite me raising this concern with them, they then did the exact same thing to me again with my berry foraging experience — cancelling the day before the scheduled event. This time, I was told that I was the only person booked and therefore they decided to cancel. I had already planned my itinerary around this experience, but apparently that was not their concern. It felt as though the company’s priority was whether the trip was financially worthwhile for them, rather than honoring a customer’s confirmed booking. What is especially frustrating is that nowhere on their website, when I booked, was it clearly stated that they could cancel the experience if there were not enough participants. If there is a minimum number of participants required for an event to operate, that should be clearly disclosed before customers make a booking and arrange their travel plans. Cancelling once at the last minute is already disappointing. Doing it twice — especially after I specifically told them how inconsiderate the first cancellation was — is extremely unprofessional. I would not recommend booking with this company if you are traveling specifically for one of their experiences or have a tight itinerary. A confirmed booking clearly does not mean the experience will actually go ahead.

The frozen water tour in Rovaniemi was an amazing winter wonderland experience. Walking across the frozen landscape felt magical, and the barbecue in the snow made the whole trip even more special. A simple, beautiful, and unforgettable adventure.

I had an incredible time! The guide and driver, Victor, truly went above and beyond to ensure everyone was safe and happy. Because the snow was melting a little, some parts of the hike were rather slippery, but Victor was very patient – he waited for everyone and offered help whenever it was needed. He was also a fantastic photographer, even lying down in the snow to get the best angles for our photos. Aside from the stunning views (the frozen waterfalls and the red river – just wow!), I learnt quite a bit about the geological formations and the flora and fauna around the canyon. And during the hike, Victor and our group picked up loose studs that had fallen off other hikers’ traction cleats. It felt so good to help preserve the environment, even in small ways! To top it all off, the BBQ was a nice touch. It was simple but cosy, set in a beautiful spot, and provided warming food after the hike. Highly recommend this tour and Victor to anyone visiting Rovaniemi!

Our day tour to Korouoma was beyond amazing! Our guide Natalia was outstanding leader and organiser. She kept the spirit of the group so high, she was smiling and welcoming us all. She gave us confidence and was unstoppable and full of energy I love every minute of this tour. Would repeat over and over again

We went to Frozen Falls with William and honestly, it was above all expectations. He shared a lot of interesting information about the area, which made the whole experience even better. He was super helpful on the tricky icy paths, and you can really see he cares about what he does. The waterfalls are incredible—definitely a unique adventure.

An amazing experience.Our guide Sanija was very pleasant person. She was taking care of us she made sure we were safe and warm.She prepared for us a delicious barbeque. She was very informative on our excursion. She was helping us capture this moment,offered ta take us pictures to take home with us. Singularly one of the best experiences we have ever done. The whole trip take most of the - the park is about an hour and a half away. They provide you gear for the hike and then you spend about 7 hours on an absolutely stunning trail with frozen streams and waterfalls and canyons. The pictures really do not do it justice. The hike is long but never feels strenuous and the gear and guide ensure that its always safe. Our guide provided us the right amount of info and ensured we were also having fun. Turkey hot dogs felt great after the long hike! Must do!

This was an excellent tour. We went in early April and the waterfalls were still frozen. The going could be a bit icy and slippery but it was worth it. We were picked up from our hotel at 825am as part of a small group. We were at the office at 9am and fitted for overalls and crampons. It was about 90 minutes drive to the park. The hike was about 3 miles, a lot of hills up and down, but very good. The scenery was beautiful and the guide knowledgeable. About 4/5 of the way through the hike we stopped to grill hot dogs at a fun barbecue spot. We were back at our hotel around 430pm.

We enjoyed our experience at Korouoma, the tour pace was good, not too fast and not too slow. Ended with a barbecue which felt so good in the cold. Our guide Laura was very informative throughout the tour too. 10/10 would recommend!

Hike was outstanding. Needed spikes as some areas icy. Absolutely beautiful. The highlight was our guide Nil. Professional, friendly, font of knowledge, and an absolute great guy. Nothing was too much. Outstanding Ambassador for the company. Make sure you keep him! Thanks again Nil

Once again, Arctic GM delivered an amazing experience from start to finish. The service was excellent from the very beginning, and everything was very well organized. Our guide, Vanessa, was wonderful — very attentive, knowledgeable, and always giving us interesting explanations throughout the whole journey. The frozen waterfalls in Korouoma are absolutely breathtaking, and the entire experience was truly worth it. To make it even more special, the barbecue at the end of the tour was incredible and the perfect way to finish such a memorable day. Highly recommended!

The frozen waterfall tour was great from start to finish. We were picked up exactly on time from our resort and everything went smoothly from there. Our guide Vanessa was fantastic and we had a lot of fun. The BBQ lunch was a fun experience as well. Definitely recommend.

The hike to the Korouoma Canyon was truly amazing. The scenery was very special, especially the frozen waterfalls and the meandering dark red river in the canyon, next to the white snow and green trees. The contrasts were spectacular. The guide Greda was a gem! The pace as just right, and she really took amazing pictures. I was happy to have the option of vegetarian sausages. Thank you.

Great place. Short (free) hike to beach about 15 min away called Lehtojarvi Beach. Bring extra bottle of wine and hot chocolate for sharing in your igloo. We did both igloo and hotel. Staff is excellent! Don't forget to sign up for aurora alarm.

Wonderful guide with lots of patience during our entire tour

Jorge, our guide, is such a lovely person! We had a great time with him and a nice group of six people. They pick you up from your place, drive to the office to get proper winter clothing and boots. Have a warm drink and go to the toilet. Then we set off on a 1 hour 30 minute drive; the hike is moderate and the place is beautiful! If necessary, they will give you spikes. We stop for a warm drink. In the end, we stop for barbecue :) and then return.

Wow, I’m so glad I took part in this excursion. Five us set out from the Rovaniemi town centre on the 90 min drive south east of the town. Our guide was Andrei from Romania. He was informative, passionate, knowledgeable and very enthusiastic and friendly. He was everything you want in a guide. The hike was 5 km and lasted around four hrs. This included an hours bbq lunch. We had hot dogs and a hot blueberry drink. There were also local chocolate treats. We chopped wood and really got involved. We saw all the waterfalls on route. Plenty of photos were taken. Wet weather gear was provided and we were looked after. Safety was never overlooked and we really had a great day. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The only negative part was when I saw a guide from another group also working for Arctic Gm. Her name was Vanessa and I found her to be very rude, patronising and unprofessional.

Absolutely incredible experience on the Korouoma Waterfall hike with Arctic GM! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, and the scenery was nothing short of breathtaking — frozen waterfalls, peaceful forests, and that crisp Arctic air. A special shoutout to Corantin, who truly made the day unforgettable. His friendliness immediately put everyone at ease, and his deep knowledge of the area, nature, and local history added so much richness to the hike. He was also incredibly patient throughout, making sure everyone felt comfortable and could go at their own pace, which really elevated the whole experience. On top of that, his photography skills were amazing — he knew all the best spots and helped capture some stunning shots we’ll treasure for a long time. And the BBQ — wow. After the hike, enjoying a perfectly cooked meal in the middle of the wilderness was the cherry on top. Corantin’s BBQ skills are seriously impressive and turned a great excursion into an exceptional one. If you’re considering this hike, don’t hesitate. Five stars all the way!

Amazing hiking experience through Korouoma Canyon! The scenery was breathtaking, and it wasn’t hard of an hike at all (only a little bit slippery at times). Our guide Hugo was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Andrew brilliantly guided us during this amazing hike to the beautiful frozen waterfalls, telling us about Sami culture and the Arctic environment. We even tasted lichens! Such an amazing experience. Thank you, Andrew!

We had an absolutely incredible experience on the Korouoma Canyon Frozen Waterfalls Tour from Rovaniemi. The scenery was beyond breathtaking — frozen waterfalls, snowy trails, and views that honestly felt unreal. Our tour guide James was outstanding. He is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and made the whole experience even more special by sharing so much insight about the area, nature, and local culture. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and it really shows. A special mention as well to the lovely gentleman who prepared the BBQ sausages — unfortunately I can’t remember his name, but it was a pleasure meeting him. He spoke four languages and told us he studied in Chichester, which was such a nice surprise and made for great conversation. The food was delicious and very welcome after the walk in the cold. Overall, this tour was perfectly organised, informative, and unforgettable. Huge thank you to James and the whole team for such a memorable day — I couldn’t recommend this experience enough! ❄️🔥

Sergio and William were our amazing guides. The forrest was so beautiful covered in snow. The hike and the ice falls are definitely worth experiencing.

This company was recommended by a friend and we did two tours with them during our stay. Both were amazing! Daria and James took good care of us throughout the Korouoma canyon hike, guiding us through frozen landscapes, sharing lots of info about the canyon, the forest, the waterfalls and Lapland in general. They also prepared a nice barbecue and took lots of photos! The van ride was comfortable and relaxed

We had a wonderful experience hiking in the Korouoma ! The guide, Pedro, who came from Portugal with great love for snow and winter activities, introduced the national park and guided the way meandering the trees, showing us how to take slides passing slippery slopes and briefing the history of logging industry. The three frozen waterfalls were stunning and we had scrumptious smoked sausages roasted by Pedro. Yum! This an activity definitely worth trying if visiting Rovaniemi!

My husband and I joined the trip to Korouoma Canyon organized by Arctic GM. The frozen waterfalls were spectacular, and walking through the taiga was an unforgettable experience. Our guide, Corantin, gave us many explanations about Lapland's history and nature during our walk. It was an entire day trip that ended with warm BBQ and hot chocolate. The walk is a bit intense, especially the last kilometer, but sliding down the icy sections with a rope was very fun.

We had a wonderful time. The canyon hike was stunning and the falls were gorgeous. We really enjoyed all the ice slides and our guide was great (Coran)!

We had an exceptional Korouma trip with Corantin, we were impressed with his leadership, knowledge, attention to detail and safety. The best tour we’ve had in Lapland. DB was great fun and helped us enjoy it with the snow slides. They are a great team. Definitely recommend it.

The tour to the ice waterfalls was fantastic, but especially thanks to Andrew who is an excellent guide. Before starting the route, he explained everything in the smallest details and also showed us how to use the crampons for the ice, how to hike properly, which paths to choose and which to avoid. He was amazing, superb, and the landscape is incredible! Highly recommended tour and super highly recommended guide!!!

We did our tour with Sanija! She’s just the best! She was so friendly, full of knowledge and very helpful. Arctic GM was the best company that we used in rovaniemi. Their clothes and all the structure they provide are the best. I wish I had done all my tours with them!
