Rovaniemi: 5-star Northern Lights Hunting + Pro Photos & Videos

We did a private aurora tour with Kun in Rovaniemi in November 2026, and it was one of the highlights of our entire trip through Europe. Kun is extremely professional. He followed the solar wind data all day, kept us updated, adjusted the start time to the best moment and drove us to the right spot to find clear skies. He literally hunted the northern lights for us, and he found them! He is also an outstanding photographer. The photos and videos he took of us under the aurora are simply fantastic, the best memories of our trip. He gave us full support from start to finish, and we felt very well taken care of the whole night. If you want to see the northern lights in Rovaniemi and come home with amazing photos, book with Kun. Highly recommended!

Kun was a fantastic guide! We drove nearly 3 hours away from town to catch the northern lights! Kun was enthusiastic and professional and explained everything about the aurora data points along the way. The evening that we went, all of our Aurora tracking apps said "very low chance" of seeing Aurora's, but Kun was determined to find an area without cloud cover and he was able get us some memorable pictures! Heads up, that with such low activity, it was very difficult to see anything with the naked eye, but Kun was able to capture some beautiful moments with his eye and his cameras! I can not recommend this tour enough!

A truly memorable night! The tour was very well organized, comfortable, and friendly. Our guide constantly monitored the weather conditions to maximize our chances of seeing the aurora. They also helped us set up our camera settings and took fantastic photos for us. Definitely a must-do.

We weren’t sure that we would see the Northern Lights as the weather in Rovaniemi was cloudy and rainy. On the very last day we were there Kun thought there was a good chance to see the Lights- and he took us over the border to Sweden! We were on the hunt for about 6 hours - but we saw the lights! Definitely would not have been able to see them without His guidance. It was mighty cold outside in early September but Kun was very attentive to our comfort- that included my young daughter. He took amazing photos of us with the lights. Once in a lifetime trip! Really happy that Kun was our guide and highly recommend him!

We managed to spot the Northern Lights, although we didn’t get to see them at their best. Honestly, I feel the hype surrounding the aurora is a little overblown. There is a stark difference between what you see with the naked eye and what you see in photographs, which often make the colours appear much more vivid and dramatic than they actually are in person. Our guide was excellent at spotting the aurora on multiple occasions and making sure we got to see it, which we really appreciated. However, the actual experience of viewing it with the naked eye was somewhat underwhelming compared to the expectations created by the stunning pictures all over social media. I think the hype needs to be toned down a little, with more realistic expectations set for visitors. The Northern Lights are undoubtedly a remarkable natural phenomenon, but people should know that the experience in person can be very different from what the photographs suggest.

I had booked and pre-paid for the 5 Star Northern Lights Hunting and Pro Photos and Videos for one night in September 2026. I received an e-mail message the morning of the activity, telling me that they needed to cancel the tour. It also said that I would receive a full refund back to my original credit card within a few days and provided me with all the details for the transaction. I spoke directly with the tour organizer to thank her for letting me as soon as possible so I could change my plans. She did ask me if I had any other nights I might be available to do the tour, but unfortunately, I was leaving the next day. I am writing a 5 star review for this company because I was so impressed that they were honest! When they determined it was not a good night for seeing the Northern Lights, they cancelled the tour, rather than trying to do it anyway. If I ever come back to Rovaniemi, I will definitely book with this company. They are honest, professional and obviously care about their clients and their satisfaction!

Professional perspective for aurora and weather observation. We are even 3 hours ahead of the cloud approaching, catching the precious moment of almost every hour of aurora watching. Hello! We were originally scheduled for the Aurora tour on Jan 16th, but the weather was so cloudy that it was on the verge of being canceled. Just as we were losing hope, Kun went above and beyond for us. He managed to move our reservation—which had practically been canceled—to the next day when spots opened up. Let me tell you about the most legendary night of my life. Coming all the way from Miami, Florida, we had one mission: see THE NORTHERN LIGHTS. We weren’t leaving Finland without witnessing this. Enter Kun, the AURORA HUNTER. I went back and forth on booking this tour, but the second we met Kun, I knew we were in for something special. He gave us the full breakdown of the night—where we’d go, what to expect, and what the conditions looked like. His calm confidence and good vibes were contagious. If Kun had told me to hop on a plane back to Florida because the lights were there that night, I would have done that...Period! We drove about 25 minutes, pulled over, and BOOM— within minutes there they were. The northern lights instantly lit up the sky, and we lost our minds. Meanwhile, Kun was out there doing a full Olympic-level workout, sprinting and squatting around with his camera, making sure every single one of us got the best possible shots. And let me tell you—he DELIVERED. I can’t even explain how much we appreciated his effort, especially in the freezing cold. But the night wasn’t over. Kun had another trick up his sleeve. We drove deeper into Lapland to a frozen lake, where he set up a cozy spot, handed us warm cranberry juice and cookies, and we waited. Then... it happened. The sky ERUPTED. Every aurora color you can imagine—flaming red, neon green, electric purple—dancing right above our heads. It was so unreal we started joking that Kun controls the weather. Does he? The photos I will cherish forever. If you’re on the fence about booking this—STOP THINKING. JUST DO IT. Worth every single cent and then some. You will have the best night of your life. Kun, you are the GOAT.

Kun, our guide, was absolutely fantastic in every sense, from the constant communication, to explaining us all the tools, sources and apps he uses to track the aurora borealis/Northern Lights, in order to find the best spots. We indeed managed to find them, and was a super star taking many pictures and videos, for several hours, always looking for the best views.

Kun is AMAZING. He is enthusiastic and VERY very passionate. From prompt replies to detailed explanation about the northern lights to finding the best spots for viewing and photography, he defo delivered. It was supposedly difficult to see the lights ivo the full moon, fog and clouds but he made it happen 🥹 Making stops at every possible places just to capture nice images (and memories) for us, using different lenses (all the way to Sweden but we didn’t enter because it was cloudy). We camped and waited and managed to see the lights dance above us (green with red and pink 🤩). He made sure we were okay and provided us small snacks. When we were out of poses, he suggested some 😂 There were nobody at the places he brought us to which means there won’t be any random person in the background of our pictures (yay). He took many photos and videos of us. He was also organised and helped different couples take equal amount of pictures. I am very glad I chose Kun out of the other tours. It was the best decision I’ve made for this trip!! I’ll bring my parents to Rovaniemi and engage Kun again. He totally deserve a tip but I didn’t bring any cash for this trip 😩 Looking forward to seeing the pictures later!!

Kun was such an amazing guide. He came at a recommendation of a friend who had such a good experience with him as well. What I liked about the Aurora tour by Kun was that he’s incredibly knowledgeable and very dedicated to it. The weather hadn’t been so good in Rovaniemi and there was a risk that the tour could not start, but he did his research and found a window of opportunity by driving much further up north to avoid the cloud cover. Then the lights came out to play. We took a bunch of surreal photos. It was such a breathtaking night, definitely unlocked a core memory. Loved the warm drinks and ginger biscuits when it got real cold; what a thoughtful way to end the night. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but I would 100% recommend joining Kun on this adventure.

This tour is the absolute best thing ever! We booked with Kun, initially the day before our actual tour on which it was cloudy. So the tour was moved & it ended up being a memory for life. We saw the beauty of auroras dancing all above. Kun went out of his way to show us this beauty. What I appreciated a lot was to feel is passion for the lights. He was almost as pumped about seeing them as we were, which made the trip even better. Seeing the northern lights was one of my bucket list so when I decided to go Lapland with my family, the first thing I did was research for the best reliable aurora tour. I had friends who went and see nothing. I was worried I read reviews of the tours in Rovaniemi and finally I found Kun. I decided to go with him because there’s no frills just chasing northern lights. I didn’t need any bbq or additional activities but just aurora hunting. Kun was prompt in his replies to us. He updated us ard 6pm on the day that the chances of seeing it will be later at night so pick up was 9 plus. Besides our family of 3, there are another 5 pax in the group. His car was well heated and we were kept warm throughout. Temperature was -15! Kun drove to diff sites to try to catch the northern lights every time it just gets better and better! Besides the lights we amazed by the stars filled sky! Everything was jaws dropping!! Kun took so many photos of us! His photography skill was also excellent photos were clear and he taught us how to pose too. By 2.30am we were so tired! But Kun was so enthusiastic he wanted us to see more 😆😆 we really couldn’t do it anymore so the trip ended. Kun is really an aurora fanatic someone who is truly passionate in what he’s doing and if you want to catch the northern lights he will be the one to go to! Can’t recommend enough!
