In the beginning of our programme you'll recieve a comprehensive introduction to horses, after which you can feel safe to go on a riding trek. On our treks we always set the page according the least experienced rider. At the end of the ride we'll enjoy a warm drink and cookies at the campfire and you'll hear story of Finnhorses. For safety reasons and for wellbeing of our horses, riding excursions are for people over 5 years of age and who weight less than 120kg (265 pounds).
Krista, I believe her name is, was a fantastic guide! She was very welcoming and made me and my daughter feel very at ease as we have no riding experience. It was such a peaceful ride through the forest and the horses were incredibly gentle. The roasting marshmallows and hot drink in the kota was a beautiful ending to end our journey.
Such an incredible experience! A magical horse ride through the snowy forest. A lovely family run business who were all so helpful and friendly, despite us being 15 mins late. My 6 year old daughter had some last minute nerves and decided she didn't want to do it but the staff was so reassuring and encouraging and she ended up loving it (as I knew she would). The Glogg and toasting marshmallows & gingerbread cookies in their kota was a perfect way to end the activity! We will definitely do it again if we come back!
Just an incredible way to spend an hour and a bit - we rode through beautiful snowy forest and then returned with time to take photos with the horses and warm drinks and marshmallows in a hut - a must do and our seven year old thought it was fantastic. Note of caution - it’s at least a 10min walk from the main SCV area so build that in
We turned up having not pre booked as we had other activities booked at SCV and didn’t know if we would have time. We were greeted and told to wait a short while and then we could go out riding! We didn’t expect to be able to go so soon, so this was great! We were able to look at the horses in the fields and wait inside the office. The horses were all well cared for. Our guide asked if we had experience and catered to our experience. We ended up being the only couple so this was lovely. It was pretty riding through the snowy woodland. The Finnhorses were wonderfully safe, never spooked at a thing. Knew their job but had some go in them. It was enjoyable but ensure you bring gloves as it gets chilly!
Beautiful and magical ride through the snow-capped trees of Lapland. Just the right length for the cold weather and to keep my children happy. Friendly, helpful people. Finished the ride with a hut warmed by a fire, marshmallows and watm drinks.
This is a fun activity right next to Santa Claus Village. The horses were great - staff was super nice and the trail ride through the snowy woods was beautiful.
Beautiful moments riding in a winter wonderland. Just make sure you are properly dressed and have pocket heater with you during winter.
This was honestly the highlight of our trip , the stables is family run and the horses are well cared for and incredibly friendly for beginner riders, when we arrived we were told about Finn horses and then after we tacked up we had a wonderful trip through the forest trail which was covered in frost , absolutely magical, we were able to ask questions and learn all about this experience, afterwards when we arrived back at the stables we gave our horses a treat and then we got to sit down and have a warm drink and ginger biscuits. This is an activity I would definitely enjoy to do again.
Thoroughly recommend this horse riding experience on Finnhorses. Had a fabulous ride through the forest with experienced & well looked after horses. A real treat.
I had so much fun I booked it again so I could do it a second time while I’m here, the staff were lovely, the horses were calm and adorable and the views were breathtaking

Lovely experience for myself and 2 young children. Riding beautiful Finnish horses through a winter wonderland forest while our guides told us stories of some of the locals. After our ride we could then warm up with a cup of Glogi, gingerbread biscuits and roasting marshmallows over the open fire. Couldn’t fault Aurora horses, great experience and would definitely recommend and do it again.

We had an absolutely wonderful horseback riding experience at Aurora Horses in Rovaniemi! It was an excellent activity. Very professional, long path through snowy forest, easy access from Santa's village in a walking distance. I highly recommend it. Don't miss that before leaving.
Riding a finnhorse through the snow is an incredible experience in itself, the kindness of the instructor and the almost friend-like connection just adds to it. She makes sure you’re safe at all times and it was by far the best activity I got to do at Santa clause Village!
We had a fabulous ride through the forest in the snow and just as the sun was setting. My son had never ridden before and he was assisted really well. Definitely going back in the summer for riding in the midnight sun. Fabulous!
A past enjoy the landscape on horseback, the girls who take it very patient with the boys and do great. Repeat.
Very nice walk with very welcoming and smiling staff, beautiful landscape and very relaxing. The horses were very beautiful and very disciplined, we recommend this activity to do to recharge, at the end we were allowed a small fire in a cabin with biscuit, marshmallow and a hot drink with red fruits.
Ik was niet tevreden. De aanwezige vrouw was niet aardig en sociaal. We hebben een saaie ronden gereden ivm de sneeuw in het bos en wisten dit niet van te voren.
If you love horses and have always wanted to go horse riding in the snow and in the great outdoors, you should do this! A lovely hostess who welcomed us warmly and showed us the stables and the horses. Then we were allowed to go horse riding in the nature and afterwards there was hot chocolate and marshmallows..😊
We were well received. The walk is a total change of scenery. We see that the lady loves her horses. And we finish in the kota with a hot drink and biscuits
