The operator cancelled the tour just 15 minutes before it was due to start. DO NOT book this tour if you don't want your Rovaniemi trip ruined. I had even messaged the operator the day before and contacted them a couple of times via WhatsApp on the day of the tour. However, I received no response. Then, just 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, I received a cancellation notification with absolutely no explanation. Viator should take action against such incompetent tour operators. Travellers trust Viator to properly vet the operators they list on their platform. Last-minute cancellations without any explanation or communication are completely unacceptable and can seriously ruin someone's travel plans.

I took part in the Northern lights hunting photo tour with bbq. It was a spectacular experiences although we had only a glimpse of the Aurora. But the clear sky with the milky way was absolutely beautiful, and Jack took execellent photos. Moreover I had to thank Jone who picked me up from Rovaniemi airport and Sarah who guided us at the Reindeer Farm Experience. All tours as well as the ride from the hotel back to the airport were perfectly organized. So, I would recommend Nordic Unique Travels to everyone who is looking for guided tours around Rovaniemi.
The farm is very commercial, too many people for little capacity. Only 2 toilets for a lot of people. Explanation about reindeer was interesting and combined with some blueberry hot drink and an ikea cinnamon bun. The ride itself is not more than 10 minutes in a circle like on „pony goes around“ whizz the guide pulling a reindeer and all sledges connected by rope. Purely money making machine.
We had booked a reindeer farm tour with them just to have it canceled minutes before the tour because they overbooked it. They book as much people as possible without checking availability, minutes before the trip they start leaving a lot of people out, really unprofessional company.
We did a Reindeer tour with Pasquale and his friends on 22-Feb-24. Was fantastic, and I totally recommend it. It was friendly and unhurried, and a really magical and memorable experience in the beautiful countryside. the first thing we noticed on the tour was how well the animals were treated, and the wonderful harmony between the humans and the Reindeer - with each respecting and evidently liking the other. Pasquale gave us a detailed explanation of how the Reindeer live, and the symbiotic relationship between humans and Reindeer, which has thrived for centuries, with each benefitting from the other. Then we had a ride in a Reindeer sleigh, with an obviously happy and friendly Reindeer pulling us along, (the Reindeer chose the pace, and we trotted along very nicely - no controls from the driver - the Reindeer just trot along as they fancy). These are wild reindeer - these aren't domesticated animals - and all Summer, they live completely free and wild, and only in the winter season do they interact with humans; so these are properly wild animals, and yet they are relaxed and comfortable in the presence of humans - that is really really nice to see - and probably that is the most memorable part of the tour. Then after the rides, we all sat in a lovely cosy hut around a roaring natural-wood fire, and drank delicious hot berry-juice, with traditional spicey biscuits - which were really lovely, and we learned more about the history and practices of the Reindeer - and how the humans interact with them and protect them from predators - no hurry, and all super-interesting. After all the questions were done, there was plenty of time to finish off our drinks and snack, and no rush, and we all trotted off and were driven back to the starting point at the end of the tour. Super memorable, and super lovely. Before the tour, I was a little anxious in case the Reindeer were not nicely treated, but I needn't have worried - it was super-lovely to see how well the humans and animals interacted - if only we could find a way for other species of animals to be so well-treated as these ones. Obviously I am not so naive as to realise that many of the Reindeer will eventually be slaughtered for meat - and I'm a vegetarian, so don't like the idea of that AT ALL - however if you are going to have animals which will eventually become "meat", then this is the way that they should be treated - kindly, nicely, and with respect, and other types of animal-husbandry could really learn lessons from the Finns and how they interact with these beautiful, gentle, and graceful Reindeer. So if you are thinking of a tour - BOOK WITH THESE GUYS, because it is really lovely. Pasquale is a great ambassador for this company, and the more people select tours with these guys, the more it will help people like Pasquale to work with these graceful and lovely animals !
Fabulous trip - we travelled in a small group and met others at the Reindeer Park. The keepers were knowledgeable and friendly. The ride is quite short but really doesn't need to be any longer. The Reindeer all have different personalities and behave like cats on catnip when offered their favourite treat of a specific type of moss. The trip was followed by hot tea/coffee and a local biscuit treat together with being awarded our reindeer licences. The area around the park is absolutely stunning and worthy of photos on its own.
Jerry was really nice. First there was a short talk about reindeer while we drank hot berry juice and ate cinnamon rolls by the fire. The sleigh ride was really fun.
The reindeer experience was great and in a magical setting. The reindeer guide was also very knowledgeable. The experience isn’t that long though and the transport pick up timings were a little inefficient.
We went there with our group and had a great time. The Sami people run this and we learnt some of their history and how they keep the Reindeer population at a sustainable level then mingled with the reindeers. Before lunch we split into Pairs and had a reindeer sleigh ride which was unreal, the reindeer can move at a fast clip and the ride was out of this world only topped the next day. Had Reindeer for lunch again and it was very tasty.
Very lovely day, and seeing baby reindeer children could feed reindeer, had to be careful of antlers
These reindeers look a bit happier than those in Santa Village, so if you really want to experience reideer sleigh ride I can recommend this one. Ride is quite short, but I think long enough for “bucket list” as reindeers are quite slow. At the end I was happy we didn’t took 2km ride.
Alessia has been our guide and she did a great job! We enjoyed our stay at the farm and had a lot of fun with the reindeers. We would defently book this tour again, it made our vacation ever better :) Thank you!
Do not book it. The sleigh ride was only 5 minutes… the rest was transfer, taking and feeding someReindeers…
Reindeer ride was great and the pace of the tour is good, not too rush :) Tour guides are really friendly and made us feel welcome 😊
There was nothing especially great or terrible with this experience. I would not recommend it for others.
We had the most wonderful morning visiting the family run reindeer farm. Our guide, Roman, was super friendly, lovely and helpful! An asset to viator. The farm and experience itself was so special and we’d definitely go again. Merry Christmas
We took 3 activities with this agency and loved them all! First had a lovely experience on a night visit of northern lights with Manon and Francesco. Then had the most amazing time with Alizée, Manon, Pépé, Gaia and Felix. All were very friendly and professional. Finally, an unforgettable night at sauna and jaccuzzi with Antonella and Alizée. Thank you so much for the unforgettable experiences
Just amazing see the reenders with Marco e Lorenzo. The two Italians guys rock ! They are expert and curious. My babies loves the reenders's farm and they give them food with guide and fully talk about reenders' habits !! The perfect mix. Well done agency. Don't let them go. Hi Rovaniemi .best wishes
We had a great stay at the Reindeer Farm. Everybody was really nice and our guide explained a lot. It was really interesting. The sleigh ride was also a great experience. After that we got cookies and tea. Reindeers are very friendly, but also a little shy. We thought this trip would be a little bit longer. It was kind of short (under 2 hours). But it was a really great experience!
Mark was an excellent guide he was very considerate and made sure we were warm enough. Reindeers are very cute and friendly. the sleigh ride experience was surreal and magical. after the ride we got to listen to stories of the reindeers with some tea and cookies. great experience overall
We joined a tour to a local reindeer farm and our guide and driver was Marcus. We were met by a local guide who told us about the reindeer and then had free time to wander amongst them, take photos and feed the reindeer. In between the formal guiding, Marcus was always close by to answer questions, help take photos and offer a helping hand when needed. One of the highlights was walking out onto the frozen river and seeing the reindeer wandering out there. Afterwards we warmed up around a fire and were treated to a hot drink and cookies. It was an intriguing look into Lappish reindeer culture. On the ride back we sat up front next to Marcus (a very competent driver on the icy, slippery roads) and he shared many more stories with us. Well done Marcus and Nordic Travels.
The whole experience was amazing .The farm, the owner/host was incredible ,friendly and very professional . We would highly recommend you to go there and enjoy yourself.
I am traveling with my mom who is much older, and we took two tours with this company, both excelente!!. First we went to the reindeer farm with the tour guide name Matias, he was very friendly and easy going! The tour was amazing, he called in advanced to make sure we had proper clothes, he picked us up on time and on the farm when the farmer would miss something, he would add to it and tell us more interesting facts! So he definitely complemented very nicely the tour! We learned about how local people/farmer live and keep their traditions alive among many other things! All in all the tour was really good, excellent price quality relation. And my mother who is super talkative was extremely happy with the guide!
We attended this tour in January and it was good! We were shown the reindeers and how they are fed and went on a sledge ride with one which was very enjoyable! We were laughing the whole sledge ride. We had a really welcoming tour guide named Julie. Julie was very friendly and helped us with any questions we had and recommended activities in the local area. Thank you Julie!
We did the morning reindeer farm trip with 2 kids on 25th January. Everything was quick and efficient, well organised. Great idea for a short trip.
Riding the reindeer sleigh was fun, but i feel like the route was too short, could have been longer. The farm visit was enjoyable but we feel a little rushed.. Shoutout to our guide, Stan for making us feel comfortable through out the journey. Stan seems knowledgable and was friendly to us and kind. Overall, we had a wonderful time!
We went to the reindeer farm and had a wonderful meal at a traditional Finnish house constructed in 1891! Our tour guide Joey, Lea and Michal made sure we had a great time and could not have been more entertaining. Afterwards we took lots of photos in the Forrest and we could tell that they really cared about our experience. Very happy and good value especially since it was just myself and my girlfriend.
We did the reindeer farm trip on 22nd Jan. We got picked up from our hotel in Rovaniemi by a lovely guide (can't remember her name). We then went to the office to wait for more people before heading to the reindeer farm. When we got there a gentleman came out to greet us and gave us a bit of information and told us it was -30 degrees that day so make sure we kept warm. We had a really quick tour of the farm ( about 10 mins) then a very short reindeer ride which just went in a circle. The reindeer ride was great as you drive yourself but I wish it had been longer. After this you go into a hut for a hot berry juice and a biscuit and get an interesting talk about the reindeer which was really informative. After this you can go outside for 5-10 mins to take pics with the reindeer which I fell in love with all of them and didn't want to leave. Our guide took a few photos for us too which was nice so as a couple we had some nice photo's together. Then it was over and time to leave. It was a lovely trip but it did feel a bit rushed. This may have been because it was so cold and they were worried about people being outside too much. We booked it through Viator and I think you can do other trips that were a bit longer. I would have preferred a longer trip really but I still enjoyed it and loved meeting the reindeer and the sleigh ride.
we booked this trip via Viator, and we paid 360 euro for 4 pax and this is what we got 1. We waited for 45 minutes in their office to go to the farm. Instruction said the tour start at 9 am, but we only got start at 9.45 am (they said its because the other participants was late) - surprisingly, we were not even in the same car with the other participants 2. there was no farm experience, we saw the reindeer in the farm, short explanation, and nothing more 3. Reindeer sledge ride, it was only 1-2 min ride 4. spent most of the time inside of the wooden house listening to the story of the farm owner The only good thing was the guide, Miguel. At least he said sorry to us for being late
Great visit guys are so friendly, can stroke the reindeer, sleigh ride and talk around an open fire with hot juice and cake. Also pick up and drop off from hotel. We had a bit of time at the end so the guide took us to a frozen lake to have a look. Much cheaper then competitors too. definitely recommend
We booked the tour through our tour provider. Although it said here that a Pick Up and Drop Off are included, we had to realize upon receipt of the vouchers that the starting point is the office of Nordic unique travels. We then went to the farm with about 12 participants. Once there you were immediately taken to the sleds, after a small briefing we started. In a circle for about 5 minutes. This was really disappointing and nowhere near as shown in the advertising pictures. Afterwards you could feed the reindeer on the fence. Then we went to a cabin. Here you could help yourself to warm blueberry juice and eat a mini cinnamon roll. Something was told about the reindeer and the farm. Then the 'experience' was already over and one was taken back to Rovaniemi. It is a typical tourist attraction without charm.
15 minutes driving, Max. 8 to 10 minutes in a sled. Over 130 euros, the biggest nub of our lives. Kindness tried.
We booked a visit to a reindeer farm as a couple with a 3-year-old child. We paid 350.- with initially, in the booking process, transportation from the hotel. When the excursion was confirmed, the meeting point was finally at the agency. We arrived on time and left 20min late because we had to wait for our driver. Arriving at the car we had to ask for a car seat for our 3-year-old child because otherwise he would have travelled on our lap without causing any problem to anyone (we were in a standard car)... the ride took place with a driver who was taped to his phone making calls and answering texts... very safe. Once we arrive on the spot we are taken care of by “a guide” who explains what we can do in the farm while waiting our turn for the reindeer ride: that is to say, to pick up leaves to give to the 3 reindeer attached to trees or take sledges to make descents on a mini track (explanation time less than 5min). No other explanation before she leaves us. We take the reindeer ride (5-10min, it’s a short walk...) then are invited to join all visitors for tea and cake with explanations about the reindeer (10-15min). Then here we are ... back to the agency. You should know that by taking the tickets directly on the farm website (which is moderately rated on TripAdvisor that is why I had not looked at their prices) the same service is charged 80€ in total because children up to 3 years old do not pay. This price is effectively without transport but considering the fare charged by the agency we would have been much cheaper by taking a taxi to the farm. In short the impression of being scammed, I absolutely do not recommend this tour!! Note that the farm itself is ok (bcp of people but reindeer seem healthy and there seem to be regular turns between animals for walks, those who “rest” are in a large free range enclosure even if they have a hooked leash that follows them, I imagine to save time when changing animals) In short I put 2 stars but only for reindeer ....
The ride on the trench is really short! You take longer to get to the farm and back than on the ride itself. Positive points for the guides, who were extremely friendly with us and welcoming, an Italian and a Spanish. At the farm our experience was also very nice, because we had contact with the reindeer besides the ride on the trenó (not 10 minutes). I sincerely believe that you can spend less and take the same walk, maybe elsewhere or on that same farm. But after being there, I found the company's prices extremely expensive.
Very nice experience! Cute little and big reindeer! They pull you in a sleigh through the beautiful landscape of Rovaniemi. Best to dress warmly because it can get cold!
There are many options to ride a reindeer sleigh, or visit a farm plus take a walk... any of the options available are very worth it.
The visit to the husky farm was a wonderful experience. The journey to get there was a bit long, but the guide Alice was good at using the time to tell us a little history of Rovaniemi and some curiosities about the phenomenon of the Northern Lights and huskies. We saw 11 puppies just a few weeks old and did the 5 km ride on the sled pulled by 10 huskies on the frozen lake. Then we ate in the tent, all very well organised. An experience that I would also recommend to others. Tamara
Jerry super helpful and nice! He took us to Santa's village, reindeer sleigh ride and post office! A thousand thanks
Wonderful. We loved Jaime's attention. An ideal experience for children and adults. Visit in Spanish
Demasiado rapido.
Thanks to our guide Nicole kind, very helpful and very prepared!!! She fascinated us with stories of Lapland and was ready to welcome our needs during the reindeer tour and take several photos of us. A magical experience to say the least! ☺️😍
We visited the reindeer farm through Nordic Unique Travels. Our guide Alizé was really great and gave us a lot of insider tips and told stories about animals and culture. As a photographer she also did great. The reindeer farm was very authentic and the farmer was there with heart. We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone.
Interesting farm tour with a very nice breeder and special mention to Julien our guide for Nordic Travel tour which was really super nice and very involved. I average rating because due to lack of snow our experience was reduced to visiting without the reindeer ride in nature. So I'm staying hungry. Finally again thank you Julien for your work.
Visit the village of Santa Claus and a farm in Rennes with our guide: Claudia. The village was very beautiful, the reindeer were beautiful. The guide was at the top, her explanations were clear, she was kind and fun! I recommend
We were delighted by this visit which occupies all morning! The sled ride, the feeding of the reindeer, the exchanges around a fire then. Our guide Paul was at our disposal to translate the explanations given at the farm and complete them. Very available guide, considerate and smiling, he contributed greatly to the success of our excursion! We highly recommend it!
Great experience Many thanks to our guide Paul for all his explanations, his kindness and his availability it was great!!!
Spectacular ride with reindeer. Our guide was Natalia, a charming, friendly, friendly and at all times attentive to any questions we had. Meeting people like this makes for the most unforgettable experiences.A 10 out of 10. Thank you very much, Natalia.
Experience highly recommended! And a 10 to Natalia, a lovely guide with the children and who spoke perfectly Spanish. Thank you Natalia! Living this adventure on the reindeer farm has been awesome.
Wonderful experience in the reindeer farm. Telmo, the guide, was advising us at all times and translated all the conversation with the owner.
Our Telmo guide has been wonderful!!! 100% recommended. We have been treated great on the farm and the walk great too.
