What an unforgettable night with Beyond Arctic! We joined their Northern Lights Tour, and our guide, Rajmono, was absolutely AMAZING! What impressed us the most was how incredibly knowledgeable and professional he was when it came to chasing the Northern Lights. He didn’t simply check the weather forecast and hope for the best. He carefully considered various factors, including solar activity, solar wind conditions, aurora density, cloud coverage, and other natural elements that could influence our chances of seeing the aurora. He also took the time to explain the science behind the Northern Lights, which made the whole experience so much more fascinating and meaningful! Rajmono knew how to find beautiful viewing spots, and the locations he chose were absolutely stunning. You could really tell how experienced and passionate he was about what he does. And the experience didn’t stop there! He thoughtfully prepared warm berry juice to keep us cosy in the Arctic cold. After watching the Northern Lights, we gathered around a campfire, enjoyed some delicious sausages, and soaked in the peaceful Arctic atmosphere. 🔥 It was such a magical moment, and honestly, one of the highlights of our trip to Finland! On top of his expertise, Rajmono is incredibly friendly, talkative, and funny! His sense of humour and enthusiasm made the entire evening even more enjoyable. He isn’t just a tour guide — he’s someone who genuinely loves what he does and knows how to create unforgettable memories for his guests. Thank you so much, Rajmono, for such an incredible night! Amazing. Finn is fantastic, funny and fantabulous. Knowledgeable, keen and persevering. Showed us the showers of northern lights and out of the world snaps. It felt like God was looking down at us from the heavens

Absolutely outstanding! Words cannot describe how amazing this adventure was! The guide was exceptional and just such a nice young man with local knowledge. This has been one of the best experiences of our trip through Arctic Finland and Sweden!

We were led by Juho-Matias who took us on an amazing trip. We went to two spots and got an amazing location to see the lights. Our guide was very helpful in giving guidance and help to people with their cameras and phones. He also took amazing photos of us in front of the lights. The four was well prepared and run, we we're all given tripods, seating matt's and flasks of hot drinks. We could not rate this trip and our guide more highly!

We used 3 different tour operators while in Rovaniemi.  Beyond Arctic was by far our favorite (we took 2 different tours with them... hiking through Riisitunturi and a private aurora tour).  The pace was great and the guides did a great job with both the photos they took and with helping us take great photos.  We really appreciated our private aurora guide's (Ville) time and attention teaching us the appropriate camera settings for astrophotography. Strongly recommend.

Awful. There was a snow storm and zero chance of seeing northern lights but they still insisted on us continuing with the tour because it was no refundable. I get non refundable, I signed that contract and will live by it . Hit insisting on seeing through a point less drive to see nothing is beyond crazy and perhaps reckless in the weather conditions. I would rather they would have been honest and acknowledged the conditions were terrible and recommend not going. The outcome was the same…ie they kept all the money I paid them. Good and honest business practices bring returns. Check out my other reviews, I mostly give good ratings where deserved, this was not one of those moments.

There are no refunds, so I would not book this activity in advance. I would book it the day of the activity so you can check the weather. I ended up paying over $1100 and we did not see anything. Other tours offer some kind of guarantee this one does not. However, our tour guide did try very hard, we drove for over two hours into Sweden but to no avail.

We had a fantastic experience at this tour!! Mario was very nice and kind and went above and beyond to make us feel happy. Besides driving for hours, she also had the car loaded with berry juice, cookies, wood for a fire etc. She explained us the basics of the northern lights and took many great pictures of it. I'd highly recommend booking with Beyond Arctic again!

Highly highly recommend a private tour especially with little ones!!! Their knowledge of the lights is spectacular! The tour started, stopped and was based our us and our wishes. Leevy was our tour guide and his knowledge of the lights was unreal. Granted, the lights played in our favor , it is a natural phenomenon and you cannot hold it against them if they do not show! He was so kind, helpful and accommodating. Go private!

We booked two tours with Beyond Arctic. The first one is Husky Farm tour. We simply had the most wonderful time spent with the adorable huskies as we sat in the 5km sled ride on a snowing winter forest. Another one is the Northern Lights tour. We had an amazing time with Neva as our guide. She drove almost to borders of Sweden to find the clear sky, and in the end we were able to see the stunning aurora. She had good knowledge of photography and capture a great photos. Thank you Beyond Arctic for the most wonderful once in a life time experience.

Very bad experience not because we don't see the aurora but because the lack of professionalism. A terrible car trip lasting 6h30m, completely uncoordinated, driving from one side to another. At first was said that we would go to Sweden with another group but the guide lost it and we ended around in circles behind another car about two hours until he realized he was following the wrong car! The group that went to Sweden photographed the northern lights.

Our guide Finn was exceptional in every way—deeply knowledgeable, passionate, and truly an expert in his field. Despite the cloudy and challenging night, he never stopped hunting for the aurora until we finally witnessed the dream of our lives. He also introduced us to the magical sound of a frozen lake “singing”—an indescribable experience we never knew existed. Thank you, Finn, for being such an inspiring guide. Keep doing the amazing work you’re doing!

This was an incredible experience and fabulous tour. Our tour guides, Ilona & Aurelien, were AMAZING guides! We booked a private northern lights tour and had an incredible experience from start to finish everything was great. We were able to see spectacular views of the aurora borealis and have the trip of a lifetime! If you will be in Rovaniemi and are looking for a company to book an experience, go with Beyond Arctic, you won’t be disappointed!

Had an amazing experience with Finn. Finn is very passionate about the Northern lights. Even if we did not see them, he was an experience in itself to listen to him. He has gone above and beyond my expectations to find us the northern lights! Thank you Finn, you have created some beautiful memories for a long time! There was very little chance to see the northern lights in Finland so we drove to Sweden and luck was on our side. We had a show for 90 mins before the clouds came back. Thank you also to the Beyond team to allow us to reschedule the hunt as the weather was not good the day before.

We would like to thanks our guide Andy. Despite a bad weather she managed to find a spot with a clear sky. We enjoyed the activity within a place with nobody around. Perfect conditions to be amazed with the north light while having comforting grilled foods and hot drinks.

This was our second tour with Beyond Artic, which was selected by our travel agency AMEX/A&K. We did not yet know that Beyond Artic distinguishes itself by offering high-quality photos of their tours. When we realised, we were super enthusiastic about it. I am a hobby photographer, but taking photos at -20 degrees with a complex professional camera turned out to be too much of a challenge for me. Fantastic when it turns out that your guide is a professional photographer / camerawoman. Although the term 'northern lights' is always part of the name of excursions, we did not see the phenomenon in six days. Not even during this excursion. But we still enjoyed it immensely and had a great evening. The most important ingredient: the fantastic sense of humor and the fantastic creativity of our guide and photographer Andie. The northern lights were not photographed, we were. And every time Andie came up with something new, which gave us truly fantastic photos. And while we warmed ourselves in between at the fire she made, she told us about the effect of climate change in Lapland, especially for the wild animals in the forests. No northern lights, but - thanks to Andie - amazing pictures of an unforgettable fun and special experience.

Skip the slightly cheaper group tours and go for this private tour. Our guide Aleksei went above and beyond making sure we saw the lights. He had several apps and ways of figuring out where the lights were. We were out for over 6 hours. We did a group tour with a different tour company the next night and it paled in comparison.

We had an amazing experience with Oren our guide as he provided us with lot of information about the Northern lights. Oren kept on driving and trying to make sure that we see the lights and he also shared lot of information in detail about the lights in a fun and engaging way. I will recommend Oren for a great experience.

Your guide is 50% of your experience, the rest is the Northern Lights. Aki went far and beyond to make sure we had a 100% amazing experience. He drove for miles to find the perfect clear skies to be able to see and photograph the most spectacular show of lights possible on that night. Aki was kind, informative, and we got to know some of his personal interests as he is as transparent as you would want a friend to be. Don't hesitate, if you're lucky to see the Northern Lights and to get Aki as your guide the rest is a bonus! Reserve NOW!

Transportation comfortable, equipment and gear such as overalls (special suit), socks, gloves, boot even hit drinks are included. Our tour guide is Mr Oren is very knowledgeble about the aurora. All the way to the hunting spot, he gave us information and explanation. You can ask him anything about the northern light. That night Oren drove us 150km to hunting the aurora and we super lucky to have the dancing one! Highly recommended.

We went on a private tour with Oren who was fantastic. He told us everything about the Northern Lights as well as other interesting information about Lapland and Finnish culture. The best part about being on a private tour was that we could stretch the usual horizons of a Northern Light tour and keep driving until we found them (in Sweden, to be precise). This was quite spectacular as when we left Rovaniemi there was a heavy snow storm and probably a 5% chance of seeing them. We were still home by 1 am and even our young kids got to stay awake to see the lights. Our son has the photo framed in his bedroom, it's his favourite memory. Thank you, Oren - 5 stars!

The weather was not cooperating at all but Taru went above and beyond to try to find even the smallest break in the cloud cover. We had terrible weather for aurora hunting on our trip but after this tour, I was sure if there was any chance of seeing anything, Taru would have made it happen. It was still a beautiful night. The kids had so much fun playing in the snow in a national park.

It was my first time to travel to Finland. That night the sky was a quite cloudy. Oren was our guide and he tried his best to bring us to some private spots for Aurora Hunting. Trying not to disappoint us, he took us to have camping under the starry sky giving us berry juice and sausage for BBQ so as to warm ourselves. In the meantime, he helped us take BEAUTIFUL PICTURES under stars. Later, surprisingly, he called us all out as he finally spotted NORTHERN LIGHTS in the sky. We were all very excited as we were very not sure if we could see any aurora tonight. Oren did not give up on us by staying outside to observe the sky. It was a very cold night like -30C. I truly appreciate his perseverance in hunting aurora for us. Not only seeing aurora, he also helped us take excellent pictures with aurora using professional camera setting. OMG!!! Really grateful for all the excellent photos. Oren is such a PASSIONATE and PATIENT guide explaining how aurora could be created during the ride to private spots. I have learnt SO MUCH from him and enjoyed his tour very much. This is definitely the BEST tour I have joined so far. Highly recommend it to those who want the best aurora hunting experience. I will definitely join again in the future!!! SO WORTH IT!

Our guide, Natasha, was outstanding. She is an environmental scientist and knew exactly where to go at what time. We had an amazing experience and felt blessed to have seen the northern lights. Wow!

We had such an amazing time and even though it was difficult to see the northern lights in the beginning we finally managed to see them in the end thanks to our guide Markus who stayed hopeful until the very end and made a lot of efforts to make the tour very special for us! Definitely recommend

Don't waste your time and money with others! These guys are amazing. Ryan was top notch! Expert in Aurora (not like all all others we tried) and super photographer! We had 3 tours organized by the hotel ... they were basically drivers... no real knowledge on how to look for aurora ... we couldn't see any aurora infact! Last night with Beyond Arctic we received a deep explanation on why/how aurora appears and we really hunted it until we could see it! And it was not a super night sky-wise... Again ... don't waste time and money with others. My suggestion at least.

The tour was amazing. We finally could not see the auroras, but Oren was an amazing guide. He told us all about the northen ligths and his experiencie about them. We enjoy a lot taking amazing photographies in the lake and eating and drinking in the middle of nowhere.

Our recent December 16 Northern Lights Photography Small Group Tour departing from Rovaniemi with Beyond Arctic was one of the best tour excursions we have experienced. Here are all the pluses: -tour operator was very responsive to my online questions before the tour, especially regarding concerns with severe weather approaching. They clearly were already planning how to navigate around the snow storm and adapted to still get us the best possibility to see Aurora -pick up, equipments, all as described on their tour description -the guide defines a trip like this and we cannot compliment enough our most amazing guide Ville. He is extremely personable, knowledgeable with Aurora and how to photograph her. He went the extra miles (kms) (literally … to Sweden! 🤭) to make sure we bypass the snowstorm and ensure we can experience the most amazing display of the aurora. He also took the time to help each and everyone of us with working our cameras. And finally, being an avid photographer, Ville took photos of each of us so we can have great photos of this wonderful tour. Thank you Ville and Beyond Arctic for a well organized, well-guided professional tour. We cannot wait to receive the photos that you will email to us so we can share with friends who are eager to go to Lapland soon.

We are so lucky to have such a magical experience and so thankful to Aki for such a great experience! Seeing the northern lights was a bucket list experience and we were so lucky to have such an amazing night with clear skies and hours of mesmerising auroras. We went for a private northern lights photography tour with Oren from Beyond Arctic and I must say i was beyond impressed with the service. He was so knowledgeable and explained everything to us about the northern lights and also went all out in ensuring we are accommodated with our needs especially with children. He was understanding enough when it came to children demands and although it was a cloudy night, he ensured we were able to get a great view of the northern lights and great pics too. We went on a northern lights photographic tour with Gabriella and it was amazing! Even though the sky was cloudy, she managed to find a perfect spot and we got to see beautiful aurora!

We had the most spectacular sighting of the northern lights. Our tour guide Oren was fabulous. He took us to 2 different spots to try and capture the lights. It wasn't too far from the city so we didn't have to travel too far in the cold. There was a private tent for us where there was a fire for our comfort and when the lights were visible he helped us take amazing photos. We were lucky to see such high activity of the lights that night. Glad our tour guide knew exactly where to take us to capture this fabulous moment.

Oren is very nice guide! We could not see northen lights... But we had very wonderful time! Oren take us many beautiful photo!

We went out with Emilia on a northern lights tour with two other couples. Emilia took us to a spot based on weather, no cloud cover as when leaving Rovaniemi it was overcast. Her company seemed to have the science of where to go see the lights down as good as can be figured out. We got to see really good views of the lights and it was an amazing night right down to the campfire sausage cookout afterwards.

We were beyond impressed with the quality of guides, equipment and service provided by Beyond Arctic for the small group northern lights tour. Matias was the best guide we could have asked - he also happens to be a professional photographer and captured amazing photos of everyone in our group. We very nearly cancelled the tour because it had been snowing all day and we had a pretty bad experience with a different operator the night before. When we mentioned this to Beyond Arctic they made a note of this on their file and assured us our experience would be different, and it certainly was. From the gear fitting at the office, to personalized backpacks with snacks and drinks, to a highly experienced guide who drove us 2 hours to the Sweden border for an incredible viewing — we were so glad we didn’t cancel! We left the city around 9:30 pm and in only about 15 minutes we arrived at the first spot. After parking the car we walked a bit to the river and from above the frozen river we could see the aurora very clearly and beautifully. Our driver, Finn, was a real knack for the location and also helped us set up our camera and take our photos. He also brought some tripods for us to use. After about 1 hour we continued our journey to the second spot for about 30 minutes. From the car park we walked about 300 m in 50 cm thick snow to a hut. There, Finn lit a bonfire and handed out hot drinks and sausages and marshmallows for us to roast over the bonfire. At this location the aurora was too thin because the moon was shining brightly. But the view of snow and forest here was beautiful. Lucky us, when we wanted to leave the hut suddenly the sky was dark and the aurora was seen very clear. We took some photos and then headed back to Rovaniemi and arrived at our apartment at 3 am.

We had an amazing private northern lights tour with Finn as our guide. We only booked it the afternoon before we went as we were unsure how our 14, 11 and 8 year old would cope and also didn’t know the chances of seeing the northern lights. Beyond Arctic gave great advice in terms of our chances of seeing the lights and were brilliant throughout with our kids. We left at 8ish and Finn drove us about 90km north of Rovaniemi. We went past all the places with lots of tour groups until he found us a spot where no one else was going to be there and also using all the various data sources, found a great place where the northern lights were visible. We then walked 500m off the road into a first and up some steps to a viewing point. Our 8 year old found it slightly tough going in the snow but Finn carried her part the way and made sure we were all ok. It was the the effort as we found ourselves high up above the clouds with amazing views of The forest below and also the Northern lights. For the next 2 hours we had a magical experience and were lucky enough to see the Northern lights dancing and bright. Finn started a fire and the kids roasted marshmallows and sausages, drank hot lemonade (amazing!) and hot chocolate, and we had loads of great photos with the northern lights. I would recommend Beyond Arctic highly for unique tours where you feel special and go to places on your own. Finn was also an amazing guide! Very knowledgeable about the Northern lights and where to find them and brilliant with our kids.

An amazing experience and cannot recommend it enough for couples or families! Our guide was Finn and even though it was too cloudy to see the Northern Lights he made up for it with excursions into the woods where we hung out in a TP, painted with lights, saw Reindeer and learned all about the Northern Lights. Not to be missed and will be booking again!

We had the most amazing Northern Lights tour with Ryan! He was extremely knowledgeable about the Northern Lights phenomenon and the best conditions and places to see them. We already knew in advance that it was going to be a long shot to see the Northern Lights on our visit, as the conditions were extremely cloudy, but we got to explore the beautiful wilderness, have a fire, and roast some sausages. We had a great evening and were actually able to get some pictures with the Northern Lights in the background. They were not as bold as on clear nights, but we were thrilled to be able to experience them at all. Ryan is also an expert photographer, and helped me set up my own DSLR to get Northern Lights pictures if the opportunity arose. We were thrilled with our experience. Thank you, Ryan!

What an amazing experience! Ryan was exceptional. He took us to some beautiful locations and just knew when to stop to look for the northern lights despite the cloud cover. I really wasn’t expecting to see them because of the poor weather but we managed it on more than one location. We were offered warm weather gear, camera tripod etc and was given warm drinks and a snack over a campfire. He took some amazing photos of us and sent them the day day. Just fabulous!

We had the best guide with Maiju! She picked us up from our hotel and got us outfitted with arctic gear in case we needed it! We headed towards a private spot on a frozen lake. While we were driving - we could already see the northern lights in the sky! When we got to the spot, which was gorgeous and totally private - she set up the DSL camera we rented so we could take photos while she started the fire in the kota. She came out and helped take photos of all of us and she kindly showed my daughters who to use the camera so they could also take some. Maiju was the perfect guide for our group (5 adults, 2 kids - 8 & 9 yrs old). She was just a delight and was so nice and friendly and informative! You can tell she is very passionate about her job! We had a different tour the next day with another company and it was a stark contrast to Maiju and Beyond Arctic. We really regretted not booking both tours with Beyond Arctic! The customer service was night and day. Do yourself a favor and book with Beyond Arctic!

I booked two Northern Lights photography tours. Despite difficult weather conditions, Ryan and Oren did their best to capture it.

Ryan was an excellent guide, know the best places to get a good view of the sky, advised on camera settings, and was a joy to spend time with. Awesome

Juhani was a knowledgeable and fun guide. We did see the lights although the moon was full (so plan accordingly!) so they weren't as bright. Juhani was in contact with co-workers also looking for the lights, so along with the sky/weather/info sources on his phone, we were able to find good viewing spots. I'd recommend a car tour since you can go further than on sleds, etc. I did three tours with Beyond Arctic, this company is a cut above!

We had an extraordinary private tour to see the Northern Lights that far exceeded our expectations. Johany, our guide, was fabulous! He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about Northern Lights sightings and as a result, we saw a spectacular show of Northern Lights. He knew where to take us and even more importantly, he knew when we should expect to see the best Lights. We were so pleased with our experience and highly recommend the private tour by Johany and the Beyond Arctic company.
