Very passionate and welcoming guides for our tour, on the last evening of the season. Andomi and Maria (?) were so great with our kids, and taught them a lot about the area and taught the kids how to light a fire with a flint and steel. We were grateful for the warmth of the cottage while we waited for the sky to get dark enough to see the Aurora. The kids were so tired, but our guides were cheerful and friendly and although it was their job, they were just as excited as us when the lights became visible. Magical experience that we will never forget! Kiitos!

Lovely trip out to the lake We was so lucky we saw incredible northern lights. Our guide was lovely and the cottage was really nice . It was about a 25 minute drive to Lake Piokajarvi. We walked on to the frozen lake just the edge a beautiful area Had about 2 hours to watch the sky and you can pop in & out of the cottage if you wish to warm up . It was freezing minus 35 degrees Our guide was great . Provided a hot drink & biscuits and made a fire There was only 6 on our tour and beforehand we was provided with a snow suit , boots & gloves suitable We actually booked that day and they were great . Highly recommend
We went on this trip as we had a toddler and were not sure if they would be comfortable doing the aurora chase. While the whole concept is family friendly we couldn’t spot aurora and we couldn’t move from the spot as it was a fixed one. The same night aurora was spotted in nearby places which were 30 min away. While the trip itself did not promise to show aurora, we felt that having sausages and marshmallows for £100 each was a bit expensive and not value for money. The guide was great. She and her partner followed the plan but they couldn’t be flexible and take us to other places due to the way this package was set. So thanks guides for entertaining us but I don’t recommend this trip if you want to have high chances to see northern lights
Although unfortunately we did not manage to see the northern lights, the experience overall was fun thanks to our guide Jesse who was interactive and give us a snippet of what growing up in Finland is like.
We had a group of about 30, which is fine, but at $125 or more for each they why are you so stingy on the food? One sausage for each person? And some marshmallows for $125? Pathetically chealt. It's a 20 minute Uber ride outside the city to look at the lights. Totally save yourself some money and don't book this
Felt as if guide was only a taxi driver who didn’t want to be there. He was friendly but not knowledgeable Expensive trip for 1 sausage by fire and no marshmallows as he forgot them Would not recommend
I reached Rovaniemi Airport with wheather forecast clear sky. Tour operated texted me about cancellation because not enough people but They still add in more people and make my tour successful. It starts 8pm so not rushing. Also gave Winter Jackets and Boots. Cottage is still cold. Campfire with sausages and drinks. Manage to capture aurora with phone camera eventhough just tinge of green light in the north. This tour no provide photography services so try take with your own best.
It was really good experience, very well organised with a lovely tour guide . The place is really magical and the campfire make it even more memorable. The little things like marshmallows and cinnamon buns made it 10 times better 😍. Highly recommended!
Great Experience with really nice guides, the place is also very nice with a cosy hut and campfire at a dark lake, the perfect spot to watch the northern lights, in addition you get good sausages and marshmallows from the campfire in a relaxed and fun atmosphere! thanks for the great evening!
Fantastic and very authentic experience! Juuso and the team really going extra mile to ensure everyone feels comfortable, taken care of and getting best possible experience. The location is also great with private frozen lake ensuring you get best views, old cottage to get cozy if too cold outside and fireplace to get some grilled sausages :) Strongly recommending
This was the most amazing holiday The team at StayLapland were professional and fun and ensure the activities were safe. We will come again
Although we only saw a little glimpse of the northern lights, the experience was amazing. The guides were very good and friendly, creating a great environment between all the participants. They made all the experience worthy even if the lights didn’t decide to appear. The talks around the fire while waiting for the BBQ, the jokes, and all the info about the country and the lights made the time fly. I highly recommend this. Great organization and great environment without a doubt!
Our tour guides Jesse and Jemima were very cheerful and patient with our group. They provided us with interesting facts about berry foraging in Finland and kept us occupied with sausages, marshmallows/cinnamon rolls and hot blueberry juice while we waited for the northern lights to appear. We were kitted with warm clothing to withstand the -31 degree temperature over the lake but even so it was very cold. The log cabin was cozy and a nice place to warm up while we waited! As with these tours it is not guaranteed to see the northern lights but we were lucky that they appeared just before we had to leave :) Jesse was kind enough to take our photo for use with the lights even in the freezing cold!
We had an amazing night with a nice guide and a cozy campfire barbecue during our wait for the northern lights - the last half our the northern lights showed up - this was a very fantastic experience :)
The owners of the apartment in which we were hosted (Rovaniemi) recommended this company for the Northern Lights tour that we were looking for. The company is a fairly new local family agency. You can easily notice the enthusiasm with which they do their work and feel the warm atmosphere they create during the tours. Joni kindly helped and solved all our doubts to select and book the tour. We chatted through email or WhatsApp, this really eased the communication. Valtteri was our guide for the Northern Lights tour we booked. He is a cheerful, kind, and professional guy who really loves Finland. He did pick-up us in our apartment ((8 o’clock in the evening (very punctual)) and did drive us (20-30 min) to a little and private spot in the nature, close to a frozen lake, where they had a typical wooden cabin. The cabin was previously heated by them so you can enter and warm a little bit during the tour whenever you want as the temperature out there is quite cold! It is essential to wear warm winter clothes to enjoy your experience. If you don’t have them the team would kindly provide you with them to make your experience comfortable. Valtteri made a campfire to prepare some hot blueberry juice and sausages that we drank and ate during the tour. We also made some roasted marshmallows in the campfire! We were very lucky; it was not even dark night at all and we already started seeing some Auroras! And not only the green ones but also blue, purple, and pink auroras! I have attached some pictures that I did took myself with my mobile phone camera where you can see them. We also had the opportunity to see the auroras from the frozen lake close to the cabin. During the two hours that the tour lasted we also had time to have a pleasant conversation with Valtteri by the fire. After the tour, Valtteri did kindly drive us to our appartement. It was an amazing experience which I would 100% recommend living in the company of these incredible guys and which is worth paying for. (Sensible price!). Thanks to Joni and Valtteri for making it possible!
Was great !!! We saw a lot of norther lights. The guides were very nice and we had a very good time. I would book it again !!!
We absolutely loved our tour to see the Northern Lights with Joni and his dad. Although more than half of our family was sick and it was -25C that night, we had a wonderful time and returned home very happy. They picked us up at our address in Rovaniemi, took us to their office to clad us in real Lapland winter clothes, then took us to a remote area by a lake, where we made the best memories. Joni made sure to take some stunning pictures of the lights and of the group, which he sent to us after the tour. They BBQed sausages and roasted marshmallows at a fire pit in the snow and served us warm blueberry juice. Then they took us back to their office to change clothes and back home. Perfect, nobody could ask for a better experience. Thanks a lot, guys!
Got once in a lifetime experience of seeing the northern lights with this amazing tour. Joni and his dad were quite professional and sweet. Not only did they offered us hot sausages with berry juice on that chilly night but also clicked excellent pictures with the northern lights in the background. We had also booked their airbnb in Rovaniemi and it was the best decision. Will definitely recommend our family and friends to book their stay and tours with Stay Lapland.
An unforgettable experience in the forest with my family. We were guided by Daniela, who was extremely dedicated and attentive and did not spare efforts to provide us with the best experience possible. Obviously our main goal was to see the dawn, which we were not able to see, but still, it was fantastic to spend a good bit in a warm and well-decorated Christmas chalet, baking sausages and marshmallows on the fire outside and contemplating the frozen lake in the moonlight. Our daughters loved it and it was memorable for the whole family. Thank you for everything, Daniela, five stars, we loved it!
We were lucky enough to see auroras as soon as we arrived. Even if we hadn't seen them, the super good experience. Highly recommended for families with children
It was an exceptional experience. We were able to see an Aurora Borealis and were very well directed and attended to by our guide. Thank you very much Janika K. Highly recommended.
It was the owners of the apartment where we stayed in Rivaniemi, who recommended us this agency for excursions. The agency is small and family friendly and the treatment very good. Joni, you helped us at all times by explaining all the options and solving our doubts. Contact is easy, by mail or WhatsApp. One of the outlets we wanted to do and offer, is to see the Northern Lights. Valtteri was our guide. He is a cheerful, kind, loving boy from his country and very professional. He picked us up at 20,00h, very punctual in the portal of the apartment, with the van. He took us to a private house near a lake, half an hour from Rovaniemi. He showed us the traditional structure of the cabin, made fire, prepared grilled sausages and hot red fruit juice. We also toast clouds in the fire. Since the morning they are watching the chances of seeing the auroras (depending on the weather conditions). We were very lucky because we saw them, many and different colors (green, blue, purple...). We were able to take photos and enjoy the fireside experience, with a very enjoyable conversation with Valtteri. We also approach the lake, enjoying another perspective. Around 10.30pm, we turned to Rovaniemi. Valtteri left us back in our apartment. It is very cold and it is essential to wear suitable clothes. If you don’t have it, they provide it. There were no more customers so it was "a private experience" for my brother and me, quiet and very enjoyable. The price is very suitable for everything that includes the experience and the good care received. Seeing the auroras without an organized excursion is practically unfeasible. We recommend 100% this tour and this agency. Thank you very much Joni and Valtteri for making this wonderful experience possible.
