Our first time in rovaniemi and with a seven year old in tow, we wanted a ‘hunt’ that was going to work for all of us and this really hit the nail on the head. First off, we didn’t see the lights and yet my daughter had a brilliant time. The fact a cottage is available to pop in and out was perfect and meant if we got cold, we could take 5mins inside with a tea. While waiting for the clouds to hopefully clear, there is an ice slide which my daughter entertained herself with. Top this off with grilled sausage and marshmallows and my daughter barely noticed the lights did not appear! We all had a fantastic evening and it was just nice to spend time together. I haven’t even mentioned the excellent pick-up (guide was in reception and already had a kids booster seat in vehicle despite not requesting), the location of the cottage at the edge of a frozen lake (magical!) and the guide doing everything possible to find a glimmer of the lights with constant high resolution photography just added incredibly to the experience!

Great night with Andre at the lappish cottage. We had hot cocoa, delicious traditional sausages and marshmallows. Beautiful setting. The skies were cloudy but Andre never gave up, we saw the lights on our way back to the hotel. Andre pulled over and took great photos of us under the green glow.
We were lucky twice — choosing the right date and the perfect provider 🙂 Thanks to Dima, the evening was unforgettable. A frozen lake, a fire by the shore, a cosy cottage, and great guidance, topped off with beautiful Aurora photos.
Beautiful area guides were very informative. It was a small group of 7 with a max of 8 which was wonderful. Lovely evening and a place to stay warm when not outside Thanks Dimitri we found all you info re lights interesting Such a pity was cloudy but it didn’t matter the overall experience fantastic.
Great experience for a family with primary school kids. One location with fire and sledging outside while waiting for the lights wired outside or if too cold in a cottage 30 meters away. Great if you can mot handle cold for long periods. Best of both worlds. Guides were lovely, hot drinks, a sausage and marshmallows to roast made it perfect for adults and children alike! Thanks.
A brilliant evening, with guides who were honest and knowledgeable about their stuff I.e. the Northern Lights. Lovely old lappish cottage where we could warm up and await the phenomenon that is the Aurora Borealis. An absolutely incredible evening and the lights are awesome
Great tour, we could enjoy a wonderful time by the lakeside in the forest, with a kind and knowledgeable guide explaining the aurora. Our guide Andrey was very friendly and explained many things to us. In a historic cottage, warm drinks are served, and while waiting for the aurora you can enjoy grilled sausages and marshmallows by the campfire. The atmosphere is excellent and I highly recommend this experience.
The tour went smoothly and was as described. Picked up from our hotel (in Rovaniemi) on time and it took about 30 minutes to get to the cottage. The cottage overlooks a lake which was frozen and covered in snow. It was a lovely clear night but unfortunately the aurora were not out. I'm sure you would see them from this location if they were. It was handy having the cottage as it was a very cold night and its a useful place to pop into to warm up. You get a sausage and mashmallows that are prepared on an open BBQ outside. The guide was helpful and friendly. There is another tour operator next door but that didn't impact us. The guide takes some photographs that they share.
It was amazing,we were very lucki to saw that amazing show.It was very long as well. The tourguide he was very nice
We really enjoyed this trip, I booked it because there was shelter for my children (it was -23' when we went). We were picked up by Dimitri and drove 30km to the lakeside house. Once there we walked out onto the frozen lake and Dimitri started to check for aurora on his camera. There was activity and it was picked up better on the camera than the naked eye but we got a great photograph to top off our week in Lapland. We had hot drinks and cookies and the children were given marshmallows and skewers to toast on the outdoor fire. We also had BBQ sausage and were emailed a link to the photographs (free) after the trip. A good excursion, thank you Dimitri.
Our guide was excellent. We saw a bit of the lights on this trip. (Nature's will , nothing the guides can do about this, they were great). The booking process less so. They will only send an email for the pickup time of the activity the day you book (we never received this mail btw). So if you book month(s) ahead of time you won't receive any reminders or emails about the pickup time closer to your activity. If you get a mail when you book, save it!
We go to an old cottage near a frozen lake to see the beautiful Northern lights. The guide was great and we also enjoyed some snacks such as corn.
What a lovely evening trip out to see the northern lights! Our guide was very prompt in picking us up, told us lots of interesting information about Rovaniemi and aurora borealis. The location was lovely and the fire was very welcoming. We even had photos taken for us and sent later which was a great touch. Thank you again for a memorable time!
Andrei was an amazing guide!! We got to see the northern lights and enjoy a hot drink and sausage. He was passionate about teaching us and telling us about Finland and nature.
Fantastic tour! Andre was a wonderful guide; not only did he find the Northern Lights for us he also gave us loads of interesting facts and information about the local area. our group thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would recommend!
Our guide, Andrei, is the best! We came with little expectation, but we were blown away by his knowledge, hospitality, and thoughtfulness. We saw the lights, had bbq sausage in the open, hot drinks, biscuits, and marshmallows. The cottage is lovely, especially when it gets cold, and you just wanted to get warm up for a bit. Highly recommended! We booked months in advance. On the day itself, we received a text telling us that it was cloudy and our chance would be better the next day. We were given the option to change if we like. Thankfully, we did, and we saw the lights! Great service!
The guide was nice , but if you really want to see the northern lights go on a hunting tour you'll have more opportunities.
Wonderful guide BUT we had booked for 5 persons at 199€ each which is A LOT OF MONEY. We were supposed to be small groups. We were only 8 in the car( good start). Then we arrived at a well established process : 21 mn ride on husky sleights driven by a professional, no way that we could imagine trying to drive… as we were five, I had to go on a second sleight. My children had a chance to have explations about the dogs during or before the ride, but I did not. My driver just told us that if we wanted to drive he could sell us an other tour 10km… Then sausage grilled in a tepee ( pretty good) but our time was monitored and when they wanted us to get out, they just sent the following group in, so that we felt we had to go… This is not my definition of small groups and it is not worth the price. For 995€ the night, we expected better. The only reason I put 2 stars is because the guide was very nice.
Everything went nice and smooth. Nice location. It was great to warm up in the cottage or at the fire. Professional photos was a nice touch.
The experience I had in this activity was literally awesome! Staffs were so kind and full of hospitalities that they took many beautiful pictures for our group, besides they served hot tea and some sweets during waiting for the northern lights. Fortunately I could finally see the northern lights, I am very satisfied with this activity.
Very nice experience! The staffs are friendly and good at taking pictures. Warm and Cozy cottage with great food and warm blueberry juice.
This cottage is so cute and the view across the small lake was great. You could even see the northern lights reflecting in the lake. Great hosts, beautiful scenery! I liked the option of going inside to warm up a bit while waiting for the "show."
Today We had the chance of had a really nice night with Elena, that she was so Kind during the all tour and We had a very good views of the Norther light and dinner with some explanaitions of the Lapland local cultura. Thanks a lot
We were picked up punctually. The evening was as described if not better and we had a wonderful time. You do need a very good camera if you are lucky enough to see the Northern Lights although the guide ensured that individual photographs were taken and forwarded to us
The whole organisation was really good and the people were soo nice and they try their best to give you unforgettable moments... Thank you very much. It was my first experience, and it was a great memory! I was impressed. I felt like this was what I was seeing on TV!
The whole organisation was really good and the people were soo nice and they try their best to give you unforgettable moments... We could warm up in the cottage and the sausages were delicious. It was a very good memory.
During the tour we went to a cottage by a lake greeted by a very kind person, a sky dotted with stars, a crackling fire. The guide took numerous photos of the aurora which he then emailed to us and also helped us take the photos with our camera. During the “snack” we were entertained with stories of Lapland life.
We spent most of the two-week trip with Helios. Our guide Elena always answered questions quickly in correspondence, explained in detail the content and features of all the tours, talked a lot and passionately, finding common ground with all the members of the group. I got there on time and gave tours at a leisurely pace, like we had all the time in the world. But the hunt for the Aurora was our first and therefore our brightest trip. We drove to the shores of an Arctic lake far from heavy light pollution and were immediately charmed by the star-strewn skies. All the theoretically known constellations in the dark were literally conspicuous. But that wasn't all. In different parts of the sky, bands of light haze unfolded right before your eyes, lining up in crowns. In the pictures Elena took for us, the radiance looks incredible. Here, too, sausages were roasted and spicy berry glegge warmed. After enjoying local treats and warming up, we continued to observe the celestial performance. And they left in complete delight.
We were picked up at our hotel by Alex. He's given us a night to remember. Everything was well prepared. We got a good look at the northern lights. Alex has taken pictures which he sends to us. It's really worth it! Highly recommended!
