Ice Fishing On A Frozen Lake

All very well set up. Guide was excellent making sure everyone was kitted out on this particular occasion to keep us dry and warm. Don’t expect to catch anything during the fishing experience. It was just peaceful sitting on the ice watching and waiting for the line to move!

We had a really nice experience. Our guide Vinnie was really good and ensured we were enjoying our trip.

My wife and I went ice fishing with Soizic and we had a great time! It was a laid back experience on a quiet lake, but not too far out of town. Soizic was very knowledgeable and helpful showing us the ropes. We only had one other couple and a person in training along for the tour. It was very intimate with the small group and we enjoyed the conversation with Soizic very much. I would recommend this trip with this guide!

As a non-fishing person, I initially only went on this tour to keep my husband company but ended up loving every minute of it. The magnificence of being out in the Finnish wilderness for any reason can never be underestimated. Our guide was fabulous - knowledgeable not only on all things ice fishing but also the Suomi culture. I would highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide is fantastic. He is very thoughtful, patient and caring as he prepared and cooked sausages as well as setting up the camp fire for us in the tentage. He is knowledgeable on which part of the areas has a higher chance of catching fishes. One of our group member had managed to catch a big fish based on his advise and he cooked it to share among us.

Today we tried ice fishing with Oren, and honestly it's his positive energy and knowledge that made this trip 10000% more fun. It was too cold -26c but the tour was so safely designed even as a pregnant lady (25 weeks) it was perfect! We dug our hole and tried to fish, but unfortunately, we started feeling too cold, so we went into the traditional teepee tent and lit a fire and had some hot chocolate and sausages. This tour was super enjoyable, and what I loved the most was the amount of pictures Oren took! Highly recommended to go ice fishing with this company and do request Oren! You won't regret it.

Our guide, Emilia, really put effort in to our experience. Because of her knowledge we all caught some fish! The lake was so quiet and peacefull and sunshine topped our experience. Our guide was also so kind and gave us some tips to to see the northern lights by ourself and the best restaurants around.

Our tour guide Emilia was wonderful. We had fun fishing so much! She picked us up/drop off at the hotel so we didn’t have to worry about transportation. Next time, we would like to try other tours. We recommend the tour 100%!

This is our second year with this company, and we did 7 tours with them between two years. Every single tour was interesting and fun in the different ways. My 8/9 years old loved the ice fishing. He said this is one of the best thing he ever done. It’s not only fun to fishing on ice, we also learnt so much about the locals life, culture and lots more. Oren and Anni ( our tour guiders) are both being amazing. Friendly, professional, informative and you can tell they are proud and interested at what they do. And they tell us so many interest facts, and they also go extra miles to make our tour even more fun. Of course, we got some fantastic pictures and videos from Oren. He is experts That’s just something cannot be done by ourselves. My boy already said he want to come back again soon.

Amazing guides, very well organized, and the big plus point for me is that you get professional quality photos included in the price! I wish I had booked all my tours in Rovaniemi with these guys.

I rarely leave any review, but this time I won't. Simply said, this is the best activity I've done in Lapland. Juho and the team offer an amazing and unique experience. They're extremely professional and super friendly. Dont miss out!

Great day out! Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. She explained everything and then let us have a go and i even caught a fish. The whole day was lovely, they also included snacks and hot juice.Would highly reccomend.

Booked Ice Fishing on a frozen lake with Beyond Arctic on 1/2/20. Kerttu was our fantastic guide. She showed how it is done in simple English, very easy to follow steps. She never showed herself to impress us (like other guides do-look what I can do). She also knows how to inject some humor in her instructions and even during regular conversations. The hot berry juice (provided) was soothing against the -8F weather and feels a lot colder during a wind chill. We did not caught any fish however we had a sausage bbq after in a teepee on a birch wood camp fire. And her humor continued until we got back to the office. She also took pictures of our fishing on the lake which is downloadable after a few days. BTW, she uses professional grade camera, she’s a pro. On our way back she even stopped so I can take pictures (iphone) of the reindeers along the road. She also gave us free tips on Aurora Borealis hunting. Download the app “Aurora” to give you guidance if you decide to hunt for yourself. We did but saw only a glimpse on 1/4/20 (17% chance the highest % we got during our 5 nights stay in Rovaniemi) in Kittila,150km north of Rovaniemi. Otherwise, I recommend her company, she’ll drive you as far as 100km just to chase them very illusive lights. Keywords-Aurora Borealis Hunter. There are other 2 companies in Rovaniemi that chases or hunt if you don’t want to use Beyond Arctic, according her. (too bad i forgot the names). She’ll tell you if you ask her. That’s how helpful and unselfish she is. Check her helpful blog on their company site and learn from a local aurora borealis hunter. Good luck with glass igloos or bus tours just outside Rovaniemi if you are serious about seeing the very illusive AB, specially now until about 2022, AB is on lean years. This experience we have, you can only get if you got a local born and breed guide who does these nature adventures for fun year round like Kerttu.

Very nice experience as this ice fishing activity with our City guide. From preparation to return, everything was great. Ville is a caring, professional guide who willingly shares the customs and lifestyle of the Finns. I was with my 7 year old daughter and, even though the fish did not bite, the place was sublime, the experience of digging his hole in the ice very pleasant and the exchange time in the Kota by the fire was also great. We did the activity of visiting a reindeer farm and sled with Beyond Arctic and, again, it was great! I recommend with my eyes closed.

She knows how to make love her country and feel good in her company. Not speaking good English, we were lucky to be able to speak Spanish with her since she speaks it perfectly We hope to be able to return to Lapland and we will certainly call on his services

We booked ice fishing in combination with backcountry skiing. We were equipped with warm clothes and the necessary equipment for ice fishing before the tour. Our guide named Maiju introduced us to skiing as well as ice fishing. Unfortunately, we had no luck and no fish caught that day. Finally, there was a campfire in a tepee with sausages to grill.

Everything has been perfect, the dream time, snowing and on top if it is very cold. The guide, a young girl who if I am not mistaken is called Sami (forgive me if not) very professional at all times, always caring for us and explaining everything perfectly. Also thank you for waiting for us, as we arrived more than 20 minutes late for the excursion because of a car parking failure. Clothes, boots and gloves give them to you, if you have the necessary clothes. Fully recommended!!!

After a short drive, our small group arrived at the lake in the snow-covered landscape. Our charming and humorous excursion leader Maiju showed us how to drill the holes in the lake and then how to fish. It's all kept quite straightforward. The focus here is on the fun of fishing and the great surroundings. While we were fishing and drilling, Maiju took some really good photos, which we received by email afterwards. Then the catch (just a fish) was prepared by Maiju and grilled over a campfire along with a few sausages and marshmallows (there is a tipi nearby). For the trip I was even picked up from the apartment where I lived. We were also provided with warm clothes (ski overalls, warm oversocks, snow boots, gloves) by Beyond Arctic, which are also really necessary at -10 degrees. There was also a thermos with warm berry juice for everyone. This was a really successful trip with a great tour guide who was a lot of fun and which I can therefore highly recommend. And that even though I didn't even catch a fish.:)
