Hike To Frozen Waterfalls Of Korouoma Including Bbq Lunch From Rovaniemi

This was a much more challenging walk/hike than expected, with some extremely steep and icy sections. The provided ice spikes were of poor quality, and many people in our (too large) group had issues with them. We had an injury in our party (due to less than ideal path-finding from the guides) and only one of the guides was helpful for the required first aid (note that the guides didn’t have any first aid kits with them). One guide was actually hostile and yelled at the injured party to hurry up- extremely unprofessional. More experienced guides would have assessed the group and provided some options for safer routes.

The tour guide Gigi was incredible. The views and the location were beautiful. However. The group size (20) was much too large for this activity. There were at least 4 languages being spoken on a tour and the guide managed to make us all feel included (barely). However it meant the day went much longer. And the group was less managed than we would like (for safety and experience). The gear was mostly broken and lacking, and overall the day was disappointing for the price.

Excellent way to experience the outdoors near Rovaniemi. It is a long hike. The path have parts that are steep and icy and you need to be careful. Our guides Alex and Julia were awesome and took good care of our group. Making sure everyone stayed safe and had fun. We enjoyed this a lot more than we thought we would. Highly reccommend!

Amazing, unforgettable experience! We were a group of eight including four children of the ages of 4, 7, 10 and 12. It was astonishing! The kids had so much fun sliding down hills hiking down. Our guide Chris was so informative. He loves what he does and it shows. We loved every second of this tour. Thank you! We are not in the best shape and we did it! Take your time.

An amazing experience. Well organised with a very knowledgeable tour guide. We had a good group size with only 8 of us. The waterfalls and surrounding national park were stunning and well worth a visit.

We had an amazing time at Korouoama. We went on a trekking day to watch the frozen waterfalls. Alberto, Remy, Adriano, Aldo and Annalisa were super professional, helpful and knowlegeable. The day went so smoothly and entertaining with the breathtaking views and the information provided that we almost forgot it was freezing cold! Excellent way of saying goodbye to 2023! I had a wonderful day with Gaio, Nicky and Alberto hiking in this beautiful winter wonderland. The guides were very informative, helpful and professional in their management of the transportation, the catering and in addressing the needs of the customers. They were particularly helpful to me for which I am very thankful. The hike itself can be challenging in sections but the guides were very attentive in helping customers manage the tricky sections. The views of the frozen waterfalls are incredible. Like a fantasy landscape! I highly recommend this tour and the guides!

What an incredible experience!! Our tour guides were great, so friendly and knowledgeable! The hike is breathtaking with views beyond our expectations. At the end they did a lovely fire pit/lunch right outside. Not a difficult hike and would highly recommend.

I booked the one-day excursion to the Frozen Waterfalls of Korouoma at the beginning of January 2023 with our guides Julien/Jan/Alizé/Marvin. I enjoyed not only the 3 hours of hiking but also the sunrise on the way to Frozen Waterfalls.

The experience was very good and beatiful. The guides Alberto and Stefanos were really friendly and provides us with a lot of information :) totally recommended! 😀

This activity was very fun and a must when visiting Rovaniemi. Our tour guides, William and Jessica made the day being super helpful, knowledgeable and fun! (We were also super impressed by the amount of languages they spoke between them!) Would definitely recommend going with Unique Nordic Travels.

We booked frozen waterfalls of Korouoma, and we give our guide Mario 5 stars for his excellent service and guidance through the whole trip. So, this was one of our absolute highlights during our trip to Lapland. The waterfalls are breathtakingly stunning, and we had a great group with an absolutely cracking guide - Adrian the Italian fella was an absolute hero. The bbq was a lot of fun, although I avoided the salmon broth because I absolutely hate the stuff - personal preference, not a reflection on the offering.

Had a fantastic time at the Frozen Waterfalls. Alize was very attentive and considerate. Her crew (Yan and Julian) were also the same! I definitely recommend this trip! The bbq was excellent and top notch! Better than I thought! Thank you the delicious salmon and potato soup made on the bbq stove. Compliments to the chef!

It was incredible, well organised and quite punctual. I would like to give thanks to Antonella and Federico, very nice guides. Antonella specially helpfull and nice. We had the opportunity to stay with her in two excursions and she is wonderful !! Kisses from Spain!!

The 2 waterfalls we got to see were stunning. The guides were friendly and informative and really tried their best. The people in the shop were very helpful in ensuring we had the correct gear. The hike there and back was interesting and scenic. Unfortunately, we were part of a very large group, with a wide range of ages and fitness levels, this meant that everything took so much longer. We couldn’t get to see the third waterfall (although, we were offered the opportunity to break from the main group and go but by then we felt it was too late as it was starting to get dark.) We had the barbecue at another campsite due to the large group size. The food was tasty but once again, due to the size of the group, everything took ages and people were getting cold and forgoing the food to sit in the warm van. There was a benefit though, because of how late we were - around 6pm - we did get to see the Northern Lights! This was very exciting and the guides were fantastic in making sure we got the best opportunities to photograph them. Overall the guides could not have done more to ensure we had a positive experience. The company needs to review their policy regarding group size. Definitely do the trip but with another company.

this was by far our favourite trip of the holiday and we booked a lot! Lovely walk through the snow and lots of info and opportunity to take photos. The BBQ half way round was a welcome chance to warm up. Antonela and Sam were great guides, knowledgable and a pleasure to spend the day with . Thank you everyone

On 5th December 2022 my daughter and I went on the 5 km hike to the Frozen Waterfalls of Korouoma. The landscape and the frozen falls were incredibly beautiful and our guide, Antonela, was the best we could have had. Without her help and assistance I wouldn't have been able to cope with the very strenuous and dangerous hike. Antonela was always looking for ways to assist me, and probably the others, too. The paths were just frozen granite - going down I could sit on the ground and slide, but going up it was extremely difficult. The ropes were frozen, so that my hands couldn't really hold on them. The hike was a great experience, but I have to point out that it should be made clear when offering the tour that it is not adequated for older people. I am rather fit for my age (79!), but that hike was too demanding and even dangerous for a person my age. Thanks to Antonela I could make it and it became an unforgettable experience.

Malcolm was our guide and he set a great pace for the 5km hike. His top concern was our safety and there were some very icy parts on the trail. The frozen waterfalls were worth the trek.

Was an amazing experince of seeing nature all in white. Antonela was very friendly and guided us through the forest and also was helpful enough to take photos of us and also the bbq was nice too:) We definetly recommend this activity. We had a great trip to visit the frozen waterfall and a little hike to see the Nordic naturals. It was great and the tour guide from Nordic Unique Travels are great and professional. (I followed Alberto and Mario for our tour) fun and know the tour well! Recommend!

Had an interesting walk to the Frozen waterfall.. it was a good walk except that it was very tiring climbing uphill at the last stage before reaching the car park. My guide for the day was Azzura from Nordic travel and she took good care of me to make sure that I didn’t fall on the slippery ground along the walk. Enjoyed the bbq lunch esp the salmon soup . Yummy !!! The only setback is there’s no proper toilet there except for the compost toilet at the start of the walk. Overall it’s a good walk to see the amazing frozen waterfall.

We did this hike with Antonella, Alize (Petton) and Jessica. We were provided with overalls and boots to keep warm then taken by minibus from Rovaniemi to Korouoma. The guides were attentive and knowledgeable. They set a pace that was comfortable for the whole group and were conscious on the slippery conditions. The hike itself was beautiful and picturesque and so worth it. After the hike we went to nearby fire pit and had soup, sausage and marshmollows. Before our holiday started a lot of research about the best tours and safaris there are so many different companies and tours. Since it is quite pricey, we wanted value for money. That is how we ended up at Nordic Unique Travels. Highly recommended! We ended up booking 4 tours here and each tour was a great success time and time again. Started with a full day solo driving safari with snowmobile with our guide Louie, thoroughly enjoyed this day. Fortunately, they also had a good pace, so it was certainly not boring! Afterwards we had a delicious bbq and our guide could tell us a lot about Finnish life and nature! The next day we went to the frozen waterfalls in Korouma with another guide Belén. Normally we like more activating activities such as hiking, but this day in nature was breathtaking so if you are in rovanimie I would definitely recommend this! Again after a 4 hour tour we ended the day with a delicious Finnish bbq. All in all, I would definitely recommend this company if you are looking for an unforgettable holiday!

What a day!! We booked this tour despite being less popular than other and it's been the greatest success of our travel. We asked for pick up us at our apartment and it was organised quite well. Laura has been our cuide and she is perfect as a guide. She loves what she does and it is transmitted to the people in the tour. Korouoma park is above 1.30 hour far. Laura made us the way so comfortable, telling us couriosities and her experiences. She is a lovely girl. And then, we arrived. MAGNIFICENT!! It's a 2 hours tour over a canyon. It was completely snowed so everything was looking amazing. Laura was guiding us all the way, expaining us all the things we saw and making all the journey unforgettable. At the end we had an amazing BBQ. Thank you Laura for everything and for this wonderfull tour.

The trail was easy at first, as we went down the hills slowly and steadily, it was a bit tiring when we heading back as we needed to climb up the hill. Overall experience was encouraging, thanks to our guide, Clement.

The trip offers really fantastic view of the 3 most famous frozen waterfalls in the area. The guide is highly skilled and very knowledgeable (same as any other guide from this company!). We’ve learnt a lot about the area and the nature. A must do trip in Rovaniemi. Pierre thank you for the fantastic trip!

We had a small group and 3 lovely guides including Anna, Lea, Chiara. The tour was great: magic place, tasty food and funny guides who are very friendly and welcoming - we became friends during this tour, which doesn't happen very often. Definitely recommend it if it's not too cold, the weather is generally colder than in Rovaniemi by 5-10 degrees.

The place is breathtakingly beautiful. The frozen waterfalls are stunning and walking through the snowy landscape was magical. We were so lucky to have an exceptional guide who took great care of each one of our group very personally. His deep love and experience of nature is amazing and his knowledge really excellent. Who wanted, could learn a lot about the fauna and flora, the canyon and the waterfalls. The BBQ was tasty, our guide a perfect host and the group really nice and familiar, what made the outing even better. Can warmly recommend this tour!

After a 2 hour drive from the city, we reached the picturesque forest. We opted for the 5km route, which was very comfortable, despite our first time hiking in the snow. It was very cold, but the attire and boots provided by the company helped alot. It's a must-do activity for all nature lovers; highly recommended.

I went to a hike to the frozen waterfalls of Korouoma with the amazing guides Ricardo jun, Elmira and Eva. The view was so breath-taking and the guides were wonderful! They helped me take amazing pictures and we chat the whole way since I was a solo traveler. 10/10 to the tour and 1000/10 to the guides 😍

Had a wonderful experience on this tour, thanks to the guide Ana who was not only an expert in the field, also great company for the group. She helped strangers become friends and made the tour more fun. Definitely recommend the tour for the quality of the guide and the quality of arrangement.

There were 4 of us on our tour. Our tour guide Malcom (aka ‘Malc’) was friendly and seemed very knowledgeable about Northern Lights. Unfortunately, Malc was clearly not very experienced in the Korouoma Waterfalls tour that we were doing. He entered the incorrect destination address into his GPS and drove for another 1.5 hours beyond where we were due to stop. With only 4 hours of daylight in Rovaniemi at this time of year, we had wasted precious daylight hours with that error. Malc was apologetic and promised to get us to the waterfalls and ‘make up for it’ albeit a little dark. Not 2km down the road, we then got a flat tyre. As it was snowing and quite cold, Malc was attentive to our comfort and worked hard to replace the tyre as quickly as possible (with the help of some locals passing by). Naturally, by the time this was done, daylight was pretty much gone. We assumed that the day was a write off and we would return to Rovaniemi town and perhaps try and join the tour again the following day. Malc insisted that we still go to the waterfalls, despite no daylight – as something is better than nothing, “If we were getting a full refund, least we have seen some of them”. We reluctantly agreed (though, didn’t see the point as it was almost dark). We finally arrived at the original destination. The forest looked beautiful but as you would expect, we couldn’t see much and darkness was setting in fast. Malc took us to 2 of the 13 waterfalls but assured us that this was due to the conditions, not the darkness. We did get some photos with low light that could be brightened (sacrificing the quality of the photo) and got very basic information about the waterfalls themselves. We started to turn back and then Malc once again insisted that we should stop at a campfire to have the tea and sausages ‘because we were already here,’ we reluctantly agreed and luckily some generous campers allowed us to use their fire. We eventually returned to Rovaniemi and spoke with Malc and the manager of Nordic Unique Travels. They naturally apologised for how the day panned out but refused a full refund as we had ‘still seen the waterfalls and got some photos’. We got just under 25% of our money back and some tea light candles. We can’t help but feel as though we had been taken advantage of; what felt like a ‘make the most of a bad situation’ turned into a checklist of rationale as to why we were not entitled to a refund. For a tour that cost approx. €150ea, we expected better.

It was a wonderful experience.. immersed in the Lapland forest. All thanks to our guides Tommaso and Joana who were able to tell us and make us experience the magic of this fantastic place!

We stayed in this nature reserve with a 5 km loop route. There are flat points and more challenging climbs and descents. The frozen waterfalls are a unique sight. Afterwards an outdoor barbecue that demonstrates how, in this extreme land, outdoor experiences can be realized despite the cold wind! Thanks to Pamela who was able to guide us in this challenging but memorable day!

A great hike despite cloudy weather. The guide was great took the time to explain the vegetation, to wait for everyone during the walk. A bit far away but it’s worth it and there are not many people so we take the time. Group of 8 which makes it possible to do a nice hike

Beautiful excursion even if you changed location because path too icy and dangerous the one booked. It was nice to immerse yourself completely in nature, discovering routes and enchanting landscapes. Very good walk through the forests of Rovaniemi, luckily the weather was good and it wasn't very cold, we were at 0 degrees (hot?). Our Guide Laura R. was a 10, very attentive the entire time with the entire group, the elderly people, and a tourist with asthma problems. We finished with a cup of cream of mushroom soup and reindeer salami sandwich with cheese (and some marshmallows on the fire).

We had the excursion to the frozen Korouoma waterfalls but the day before they changed it due to the weather conditions and we were very lucky to visit the Riisitunturi natural park, our Spanish guide David guided us and enlivened the 2-hour trip there. . It was a full day, we had a barbecue, we climbed to the top and enjoyed a beautiful sunset above the clouds.
