We went to the Ranua Wildlife Park with Tania, and this was honestly an amazing experience. She took the time to walk us through each exhibit and gave us so much insight about every animal, their habitats, where they can be found, and how they relate to Finland and the Arctic Circle. I’ve never had such an insightful and dedicated tour guide. Tania was clearly passionate about what she does and genuinely cared about sharing not just facts, but also the culture and history of the land with us. This isn’t your typical zoo visit. It felt meaningful, thoughtful, and personal. If you’re planning to visit Ranua, I highly recommend this experience. It’s something that really stays with you and gives you a deeper appreciation for both the animals and the region.

It was a great trip seeing the arctic animals with a very knowledgeable guide who freely shared interesting facts about the animals.
Brandon was an excellent knowledgeable guide giving the group facts about the country, flora and fauna aswell as being a safe driver.
This is not a guided tour. You get a map and you have to do it yourself. The guide person is no visible most of the time. The experience is in fact a little disappointing. But a lot of snow covered the park making the sights look very nice.
We had a tour with Jaco and Brandon. They were very informative and very friendly. They treated us like we were part of their family. We travelled from USA and they welcomed us with open arms. I definitely recommend this tour for everyone.
Enjoyed the entire trip. had never done tour with a guide. would recommend to anyone. Learning fun facts during the walk made seeing the animals more interesting. Learned a lot about Finland in general as well, which was nice.
This will remain as one of the memorable trips with family to the zoo. The main attraction of the zoo was Venus the Polar bear who seemed to be a really good mood the day of the visit. We had Tanya who was our guide tour and she was great an amazing guide and she explained so many information about the birds and animals in the zoo. A lot of discussions during the trip got to understand about finnish culture and history. Food in the park was also good. Visited the Candy store and picked up some liqourish chocolates.
Our son told us about Ranua and we are glad he did. A fantstic opportunity to see some truly unique Arctic animals living in their natural habitat. Having a fanastic tour guide named Tania made the experience even more memorable-she was very pleasant and knowledgeable in everything to do with the Zoo. This is a place well worth visiting
This was definitely a highlight in our trip! Our guide Tanya was so amazing and knew so much of the animals there. We had the opportunity meet Venus the polar veas and get to know her story. All the animals look good and very well taken care of. The lunch provided was good and they had variety.
The experience has been super exciting. We had the opportunity to see many artic species in the middle of the snowy forest. Moreover Victor has been an exceptional guide
Victor D from Spain was our guide and he was very professional! He provided info regarding the animals and their habits, he was friendly, pleasant, polite and very helpful!!!! Additionally, he was a very good and careful driver. The activity was value for money, even though you might not see all the animals due to the season. Thanks a lot Victor from Maria & Apostolos!
Nice tour of the zoo, Tania was great and really good on telling all little stories around the animals … definitely recommended
Our family of 3 had a wonderful time on this tour. Our guide was excellent- she was very friendly and knowledgable. We were guided around the park and learned a lot about the arctic animals and the history of the Rovaniemi area. The buffet lunch was good too. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour. Nordic Adventures were excellent.
If you go with the expectation that you are going to a Zoo, you will be fine. In the description they use the words reserve and wildlife park leading me to believe anyway that it was more like a safari encountering the wildlife in the forest. We had a great guide, Tanya, who was knowledgeable about the animals and gave a great walking tour through the zoo.
We visited the wildlife park were we got picked up at rovaniemi and drove for one hour. During our drive the guide named Tanya told us a lot of interesting facts about Finland and the park where we were going to, so we got really excited about where we were going! In the park she told us a lot of facts about the animals and it was really nice to hear another perspective on these animals and where they have been to and been through aswell. During the entire tour she kept us entertained and we really enjoyed this tour, we would even say that this tour was the highlight of our trip to Rovaniemi! At the end I forgot my sunglasses in the car so I quickly called the bureau and within 10 minutes she came back to give them to me. The service was impeccable and I will definitely make use of Northic Adventures when I come back!
I had a good time with my friends. There was a wonderful experience. A big zoo with a lot of different animals and beautiful snow scene. The guide was nice and helped us to spot the animals.
We were collected from our hotel (Nova Skyland) and were the only people on the tour so had effectively a private minibus and tour with our very pleasant and helpful guide, who spoke excellent English. The zoo is large but the walking is fairly easy and the enclosures are well designed. Lunch was a hot buffet selection from an on-site cafe and was very tasty with a good selection. We really enjoyed the tour and the only negative was some of the animals were not visible as they were staying in their indoor enclosures, but that's certainly not the fault of the tour guide. We still did see soem fabulous animals in a a beautiful snowy setting - very unique!
My wife and I had a truly outstanding day with our tour guide Robin visiting the Ranua wildlife park. Robin was punctual, an excellent driver and conversationalist, and provided us with interesting insights into Finnish culture and life in Finland. At the park, he took care of our tickets and then showed us through the park, highlighting elusive animals in certain enclosures, and also providing additional interesting commentary. He also managed to work some magic and the polar bear Venus even appeared. We both said afterwards that we had a fantastic trip to the park, and Robin certainly played a bit part in that. The park itself is well maintained and the animals have got spacious enclosures. The food was quite good too- Finnish buffet. Would highly recommend.
So first, the guide, Robin, was cool and informative. He also helped us spot the animals which otherwise we would have easily missed. Unfortunately we didn't see many of the touted 50 spices at the park, including the big names, especially the Polar bear (Venus). We were told she might be depressed and doesn't venture out of her pen so much anymore since her husband/partner had died and her 3 offspring had been taken to other parks, We also didn't see any brown bears, grey wolves, lynxes or moose (the latter because our 4 year old was tired so we opted for an early lunch at the zoo). What we saw was beavers, a mink, wolverines, wild boar, voles and birds (several owls and a raven). The lunch was a buffet, warming Finnish food. Advice: Obviously it's more pricey with a guide but you need one to see the animals. We might have seen only half without Robin. Better without very young children too because there's a fair bit if waking in the cold.
Very good experience for the organization of Nordic Adventures ( guide +++) and for the park itself. If something can be improved, we would say that investing a bit more in the quality of the lunch is an option to be considered...
Nice tour. Tour guide shares some local tips with us. I highly recommend for travelers who don't have car or want to learn different culture.
Had a wonderful experience visiting the Ranua Wildlife Park! Our guide, Alex, was extremely informative with an introduction to Lapland, and gave us a lot of interesting insights to these lovely animals. We were in a group of 4, so we weren't rushed through any of the experience and had plenty of time to have a great lunch and visit the souvenir shops as well. Our only disappointment was that we were unable to see any of the brown bears or the Venus, the polar bear. The brown bears were starting their hibernation period, so I guess that's why we didn't see them. But overall, the experience was fabulous and the wildlife park is a must visit! From the various conversations we had with Alex, we realised Nordic Adventures also had a group trip for Aurora Borealis. When asked if we could be included for a trip they had scheduled for that evening, Alex was kind enough to agree and include us at such a short notice, and we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights that night! I would definitely recommend and choose Nordic Adventures again!
My husband and I enjoyed an excellent tour of the Ranua Zoo. We got lucky and got a private tour. Our guide Tanja was terrific! We were picked up promptly and received an extremely informative introduction to Lapland and the zoo on the hour+ drive. Our guide Tanja was enthusiastic and informative throughout the multi-hour tour providing very interesting and relevant information about each animal, its habitat, and family life. She personalized the animals and their stories in a wonderful way. The Ranua zoo is beautifully laid out with wooden boardwalks in a gorgeous forest setting. Highly recommend!
Helpful organisers we missed the tour as we were late but they arranged us a pick up half hour later. But we could not see polar bears we had a great guide
A great experience. Our guide was helpful, informative and put up with all of our silly questions as we tried to learn more about Lapland and what life is like for locals. We saw a lot of cute animals and learned a lot.
Great tour leader, gave us a lot of information during the walk. However, a little disappointed because the polar bear was a no show. Small group was a plus and overall, an enjoyable day. Alex, also made sure that we get an opportunity to see the northern lights in the evening because we had missed that.
We were guided by Alex. He gave a good overview of the park and all the animals. He answered all our questions. Thank you Alex for a memorable day. The chocolates are yummy 😋
Our guide is a nice guy, he explained everything clearly as well, excellent choice to visiting the rauna zoo
Perfect day. Our guide stania was very friendly and gave a lot of interresting details. Perfect. Thanks
Beautiful wildlife park against the magnificent winter scenery and thanks to our friendly guide Alex from Nordic Adventures.
The guided tour was very informative about the animals much better than a self guided one of just wondering around. Our guide ensured everyone had an opportunity to take photos before moving on as she realised the importance of capturing memories. Our guide also booked tables for us for lunch which was great as this ensured we had a table to sit at due to our visit being during peak season. A great experience!
We booked the reindeer and husky farm day trip and am glad we did it through Nordic Adventures! Alex was really helpful, he texted us in advance ensuring that we were at the right location for picking up. He also went out of his way and gave us recommendation on good restaurants near our hotel. We will definitely recommend Nortic Adventures to everyone else visiting Rovaniemi!
Knowledgeable and humorous guide, told us a lot about the fun facts of the animals in the zoo. Very friendly and kind, even helped us to transfer the luggage from hotel to train station. Will come back to him if possible.
It was so nice spend a morning there and Alex was so kind all the time and has interesting information about the animals. You must try the salmon soup and buy some super yummy chocolate :P
I booked the Ranua Zoo tour with my husband and Alex was the guide. He picked us up at hotel on time, and along the tour he shared different interesting stories about the animals and the zoo which is highly impressive and made us enjoy the tour even more. The zoo itself is great, the area is big and I like how it designed to preserve the trees and environment, unlike those "artificial" zoos we normally see in other places. I am most appreciated with Alex eagerness to help - I found my jacket belt left on his car after the tour, and despite the tour has ended for several hours, he drove to meet us in the same afternoon just for returning the belt to me. Thanks so much that made my tour complete!
It is described as a guided tour, though it is someone who picks you up from the hotel and drives, 1 hour each way, you to the zoo. On the way there our driver spoke about area and was interesting. The zoo itself is great, not a tremendous amount of animals but huge areas for each exhibit. If you are able to go in the afternoon, the feeding tours start at 12:30 and the animals are more accessible. Going in August, week after the local schools started, very little crowd which was great. Due to the time constraint you need to rush through the exhibits, there's some walking involved just to around some of the exhibits. The is definitely a 5, tour maybe a 4
We enjoy the day in this wildlife park full of polar animals. We were lucky enough to see brown bear just weak up from hibernation and the white fox also which you can see rarely as it camouflage in the snow. Our guide knew a lot about all the animals and it was very interesting listening to her. We also had a wonderful Finnish lunch included in the tour and time to visit the souvenirs shop after. On the way back we also had nice conversation about Finland and their customs and traditions. We really enjoyed the day! Thanks to Nordic adventure.
Although you visit a zoo, the animals are placed in their natural context and this makes the place completely different from what we are sadly used to. Exceptional our guide, Mattia, because he knew how to win us over with his sympathy and his great professionalism, made us feel always at ease and was able to capture our attention for the duration of the visit guiding us with wisdom and attention. Recommended
Everything was organized to perfection, from transport to the guided tour. Special thanks go to Mattia, our guide, who has proved extremely kind, professional and always attentive to our needs. With his passion and expertise, he guided us to the discovery of Arctic animals, telling us interesting curiosities and making the visit even more engaging and was extremely kind to our young son.
a guide came to pick us up directly from our hotel.then took us to the zoo.we were only my 6 year old daughter and my mother.we had a very nice time.our guide was very patient ,very nice,a buffet was included. a beautiful experience that I recommend.organization at the top.
Excellent half day, the guide was super nice, small group very appreciable. We loved despite the language barrier the guide was very kind and took the time to explain.
The visit to the zoo is superb and it even feels like our guide knows each animal personally as what describes each animal corresponds to its behavior and character.
Ruana Zoo is great even in winter...what a change of scenery!! To see some reviews of moans are those who speak loudly and scare away animals!! Otherwise with Alex our guide - we could see almost everything From polar bear to arctic fox we had a great day Thank you very much. François - Aurore - Hugo (VAR - Cuers)
Visiting the zoo is great. The guide, Alex was perfect. I highly recommend this agency as well as this activity to do when going to Rovaniemi.
