Our guide was absolutely amazing. He made the entire experience so enjoyable from start to finish. His knowledge, passion, and love for nature truly shone through, and he showed us Finland in a way we never could have experienced on our own. He didn’t just guide us — he immersed us in the true beauty of nature and what Finland is really about. On top of that, he was so generous with taking photos and capturing footage throughout the tour, which made the experience even more special because we could fully enjoy the moment without worrying about documenting it ourselves. We had an absolutely wonderful and magical family skiing excision with Kyle and his Arctic Fox Expeditions. Prior to our trip to Rovaniemi we reached out to see if there were options for family skiing excursions. Luckily, Kyle informed us that it was something he was developing and he offered to have us as a test run of sorts. It was great. If you read the other reviews you'll already know that Kyle, the terrain, and his excursions are awesome. What stood out to us was the care and focus he had to ensure that we got the experience that we were looking for: not just some fixed itinerary. Having a child of his own, Kyle was great with our four year old daughter and made her feel comfortable and safe so she could enjoy the excursion to the max. I think it's safe to say that the highlight for all of us was when our daughter decided she was ready to try skiing on her own and loved it. We 100% recommend Arctic Fox Expeditions and look forward to the day we can come back and visit again. We truly intend to. One final point: We were also very happy to learn that Arctic Fox Expeditions focuses on Regenerative Tourism instead of simply 'Sustainable' Tourism. If you don't know the difference, like we didn't, it's worth Google-ing.

Amazing experience! Such an awesome guide, he is truly caring not only about your safety but also your entertainment. Pretty stunning views in tailor made trails. I definitely recommend it to all considering you are fit and not easily out of breath. Even if you are a beginner it is no problem, you will get the hang of it easily. Hand and foot warmers are a must. Below -20 it gets a little too cold, but not a deal breaker.

It was an amazing experience with a really caring guide! You really feel special while going around the tailor-made trails, in fact you brake trails yourself. Totally suitable for first-timers, considering your endurance isnt a problem and you are rather fit. You get to know the real Lapland with this. Not gonna lie beyond -20C degrees it gets a little challenging but for sure it is worth it, hand and foot warmers are a must.

I decided to do the activity proposed by Kyle because of the good reviews I found and the pictures he published about his activity. After meeting Kyle I have to say that the activity proposed by Kyle is awesome and unique. If you want to experience how winter nature is in Lapland, you cannot miss this. Skiing through an immense forest with all trees covered by the snow and ending skiing over an enormous frozen lake … just amazing. There is no noise, no people, just the nature around you and you just hear yourself breathing while skiing and enjoying the amazing Lapland landscapes around you. I did this activity with my kids, and in the group, we were just the 4 of us. I would highlight that I appreciate this a lot compared to other activities where they manage big groups. Kyle prepared everything very professionally: the skiing material, the instructions about what we were going to do and what were going to see. Every small detail. He provided us with warmers for the hands within the gloves, he was paying attention every time to my kids to check they were ok with cold fingers and toes (one of my kids is 10), he stopped from time to time to take photos, he explained us about the animal footprints you can find in the forest ... Kyle makes you feel like a friend that is sharing with you the magnificent landscapes, he loves so much himself. We have unforgettable memories of the day shared with him that we will remember in the years to come. That snowed forest and the magnificent frozen lake at the end … Just magic, you cannot miss it.

My friend and I booked a ski tour with Kyle in early December and had a PHENOMENAL time. Kyle very kindly picked us up from our hostel near Santa Claus Village and drove us to his property chatting all the way. He provided skis, poles, and very generously gave us each hand warmers, before taking us on a unique route through the woods. It was our first time back-country skiing and we found it super easy, and didn’t need any prior experience. We spent several hours with Kyle, and along the way he gave us hot blueberry juice and chocolate, and took photos and videos for us. We got to see forests, swamps, and skied over a frozen lake, and Kyle set up a fire for us before we left and cooked us a delicious reindeer sausage each. This experience was the highlight of our time in Lapland, and we cannot recommend the tour highly enough. Kyle was an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable guide, and we will absolutely do this again if we go back to Lapland. Thank you so much Kyle!

As a Finn I was curious to see what they have to offer for travellers in Rovaniemi. Arctic Fox Expeditions and Kyle as a guide were fantastic! Even if I'm pretty familiar with Finnish nature, I was impressed of his expertise and trails they have . Ski trails are in private land so you can experience total calmness and beauty of nature. I took about 3 hrs tour which is easy to manage, since it’s not about speed or competition, but about enjoying the silence and nature. We even met real wild reindeers on the trip! The skis and poles provided by Kyle were of very high quality and would satisfy even a demanding skiing enthusiast. I saw I could also bring my Finnish guests here.

This is a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks for Kyle, we have seen some breathtaking views of Lapland and get to know how local people live over there. Like Kyle said, it is a different planet. It is so fortunate that Kyle is taking us through his property so someone like us can have a chance to have this unique experience walking in an isolated forest and on a frozen lake. The trip to Lapland was magical for us and Kyle gave us a perfect ending! I recommend everyone come to Rovaniemi do the Ski walk and you will not regret it.

One of the best experiences we've had on any vacation, ever! Kyle gave us an exceptional experience tailored to the skills of our group; a beautiful, zen-like cross-country skiing adventure through stunning trails, followed by skiing across a frozen lake, reindeer sausages cooked over an open fire and two beautiful reindeer to pet and photograph too! Kyle's passion for Finnish Lapland and stories about the history and culture were an added bonus, as was the secret pitstop for chocolate and hot berry juice in a hand-built tipi halfway. We can't recommend this tour - or Kyle - highly enough.

The BEST part of Lapland!!!! I am so unbelievably glad I booked the ski tour with Arctic Fox. Kyle is the loveliest and such a fun guide and person to spend the day with. He picked us up and took us out to where we would we start the tour. He gave us hand warmers, mittens and we started out into the beautiful scenery. The trail was so beautiful and Kyle always checked in to see how we were finding it. We had a stop and he gave us warm berry juice and chocolate which was amazing. We were both beginners at using skis but that wasn’t a problem at all. Kyle showed us everything and he even got great drone footage and pictures of us along the trail. Afterwards we had some lovely sausages at the fire, and he even catered for me being a vegetarian, which I really appreciate! Seeing this aspect of Lapland is something I will remember forever, and a once in a lifetime experience. Kyle is so great, we can’t sing his praises enough! I couldn't recommend Kyle enough - a 15/10 experience! He is the nicest guy and most knowledgeable and thoughtful tour guide me and my partner have ever had. He completely personalised the routes we took, showed us some incredibly beautiful spots, took footage on his drone (which is unreal!) and stunning photos - Kyle will ruin all other tour guides for you! You won’t get a better tour guide than Kyle! Not only was he a super friendly and personable guide but he was also super informative about Finlands culture and history (learnt more about Finland in three hours than my whole life). He was very thoughtful in taking heaps of drone footage and pictures for us as we explored heaps of trails throughout the beautiful wilderness. A truly unique experience I encourage everybody visiting Finland to try out. Once again, a huge thanks to Kyle for the unforgettable experience (including the sausages and warmed juice!)

As we finished our tour with Kyle, he asked what he could do to improve and we were genuinely stumped – we loved every minute! As a guide, Kyle is friendly, funny and informative. We really valued the opportunity to learn more about Finnish life while we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings on private land away from the crowds. We also felt safe and looked after at all times, with Kyle being sure to check in with us regularly and adapting the tour to suit our needs and preferences (N.B. you don’t need to have skied before to do the tour – it is more of a ‘ski hike’ – and I actually found this a far preferable way to ski than hurtling down a mountain!). We started off heading into snowy forests and frozen marshes, then onto a frozen lake before warming up by the fire. The communication before the tour was excellent and we really appreciated the little bonuses and thoughtful touches, such as getting to meet the family’s reindeer and the delicious snacks and drinks. Kyle has a really refreshing approach to tourism, with a focus on sustainability and looking after the natural environment we’re all there to enjoy. We felt like welcomed guests, not just another couple of tourists. It was also incredible value. If you are thinking of booking with Arctic Fox Expeditions – do it!

This was the best experience! This is a must do if you are visiting Rovaniemi, you will not regret it! It was such a unique experience and we loved that it was a small group. It made the experience more personalized and fun. Kyle was so kind and made the trip really fun. He gave so many great facts about Finland, it was great to get a cultural experience with it. The skiing was a lot of fun and the scenery was gorgeous! We loved all the trails and are still talking about how much fun we had! It was our favorite excursion our our whole trip!

Best guide on our trip! I highly recommend booking this experience. Cross country skiing is very approachable and much easier than we anticipated. It is such a unique experience as Kyle takes you through his family's property (forest/lake) and he made it extra special with intermittent stops where you get to try locally sourced food/drinks and hear amazing stories as he is a local to the area. If you are into learning about the culture and life as a local, this is a must do. It is hard not to have a good time with Kyle as he truly is committed to making sure you get the most out of it.

We had an incredibly beautiful tour through the forest. The weather, by the way, had done its best to present the nature of Finland to us in the most beautiful way. The guide, Kyle, prepared a great route for us and captured the beautiful day with videos of his thrones. Kyle has a great open manner, it was great fun.

Kyle is an amazing guide who made sure that my mum and I were well taken care of throughout the activity. We enjoyed the walk very much even though the weather wasn’t in our favour (it was -23°C when we were walking). Thankfully, Kyle provided us with hands and feet warmers along with gloves which helped to keep our hands warm! He also took a lot of photos and videos for us while withstanding the extreme cold weather, and for that, we are very appreciative. He is also very knowledgeable in different topics and cultures. We highly recommend that anyone, even if you have no experience, to join on this activity and enjoy the walk with Kyle 😀 Once again, kudos to Kyle for the wonderful and unforgettable experience!

Just returned after the most fantastic private Lapland tour with Kyle. All the 4 af us are so trilled to have had this experience together with Kyle. The tour takes place on his families private property. From first sign and contact Kyle was the best host EVER telling historical things, his own experiences, good sense of humor, so aware of everything checking in if everybody was OK - which we were. We want to give Kyle 10 out of 10 for the PERFECT day and making us feel like we were in Lapland paradise. Unspoiled beauty and silence of beauty. Ending the day with fireplace and beautiful lake view and local Reindeer sausages made over the fire was also fantastic and authentic. The best way to end the day. We give Kyle our best recommendation and by the heart he’s trying to give everybody a life time experience - and he did!! He underestimates himself, but he’s good… SO GOOD and we wish him all the best in the future and hope, that you will sign up for a tour with Artic Fox Expeditions and Kyle. Our group had truly amazing experience hosted by Arctic Fox Expeditions and Kyle. Kyle was very attentive and informative early before our arrival and we were able to ask him anything we needed. He has lots of interesting knowledge of Lapland and Rovaniemi. Our group felt safe, well taken care of and most importantly we had lots of fun! The experience is suited for skilled as well as beginners. And even if we used this types of skis for first time, we learned quickly. The land Kyle took us to was really beautiful untouched land, where we didn't even see electricity lines or any other people. It is very unique and authentic Finnish experience in the wilderness that everyone has to experience at least once in their lifes!

If I have to describe this experience in only one word, I would just say that it was simply amazing! We had the opportunity to ski in a magical part of the lappish uncontaminated forest, only surrounded by nature and snow. Even before the real ski trip took place, Kyle contacted us to give us some useful information regarding the appropriate cloathing according to the weather, and about other important aspects of the activity. The activity was very well organized and managed throughout it's whole duration, taking good care of us and of all the particulars in order to ensure an activity based quality and entertainment. I would say that this activity is accessible to different kind of people, since there is a large offer of different types of trails, some shorter and easier, while others are longer and a bit more "challenging". Another very enjoyable aspect of this day in my opinion, was the beautiful laavu next to the lake where we warmed up around the fire while eating some traditional Finnish makkara. Overall I can firmly reccomend this experience to everyone who wants to really feel in contact with nature while having fun, while still living a high quality experience from the start till the end.

We had the most amazing time skiing in the beautiful nature of Rovaniemi. Our guide Kyle was the best and he had interesting stories about the surrounding nature and Norvajärvi. Skiing was a blast and it was beginner friendly but also had possibilities to do longer rounds for more experienced skiiers. Kyle had thought of everything and we felt suuuper comfortable during our trip (thanks for the hand warmers Kyle!!). We went through the forests, swamps and on the ice of the lake and ended at beautiful Kota where we had food and enjoyed the campfire. If you are looking for a true lapland experience and want to see the beauty of Lapland's nature, this is for you GO GO GO! You won't find anything as good and exclusive as this from other companies. My friend and I had an absolutely amazing experience with Arctic Fox Expeditions and our guide Kyle (also the company’s owner). The reason that there are so many five-star reviews is because the daytime Nordic skiing/walking tour was absolutely amazing. This was my highlight from both being in the Rovaniemi area and Finland. From the experience itself to the customer service, you can’t go wrong. Kyle picked us up from our hotel (a bonus when a lot of tour operators won’t do pickups unless you’re in the city centre). On the way to the Arctic Circle forests, Kyle gave an overview of Finnish history and culture, and asked what we were interested in learning about so he could tailor it towards that. The equipment we used was very high quality, and he took the time to guide my friend who’d never been on skis, and even helped her navigate some of the terrain a few times. He designed tons of trails so that you can ski on fresh powder while exploring the wilderness. At the end, the fire and reindeer sausage was excellent. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Not only did this meet expectations, but Kyle did so much more than that. Thanks so much for an incredible time!

We had an amazing time with Kyle in this cross country skiing tour. Upfront he was very responsive and clear in the whatsapp communication we had. After being picked up at our hotel in Rovaniemi city, we drove to the place where we've got the equipment and started with the skiing tour. We followed private trails through the woods and experienced lots of different parts over there. Underway we had the prettiest sights of the Polar Stratospheric Clouds and discovered many different animal tracks. Kyle perfectly adapted the pace of the tour and spend a lot of time in guiding us and explaining about the area and the history of Lapland. He also brought his drone with him and shot and shared the most beautiful videos afterwards from us skiing through the woods. After the woods we finished the tour on the frozen lake and ended at a fire place where we could shelter from the wind and ate some sausages with still some beautiful views. We would really recommend this tour if you're looking for an off the beaten track cross country skiing tour far away from mass tourism and with the nicest trails and sights.

This experience is amazing! Kyle is an incredible guide. He takes you to his family's property on trails he's made. The skis are easy to use. I was new to this, and my friend had skied in the past, and we both had a fantastic time. The location is unmatched. Kyle also gives you a bit of history about the area and his family's experience. He was patient, taking photos of us and happily stopping when we wanted to take time and observe the view. The reindeer sausages were the best we had on the trip (and we had a few). On any spots on the trail where I was nervous, he helped me along. He's supportive, kind and an exceptional guide. Book this now!

The BEST experience I had in Finland. Kyle is such an awesome guide, such a good storyteller. We were a group of 3 and we all enjoyed every bit of the experience and it was such a memorable day for us. This ski trip was the best part of our vacation in Rovaniemi. It was just me, my girlfriend, and the amazing guide/landlord Kyle. My only regret is that I didn't bring my engagement ring to the trip. It would have been amazing if I had proposed to her at the end of the trip, when the two of us were sitting at Kyle's lakeside fireplace watching the beautiful sunset of the arctic winter. We did get engaged the next day though, and we will remember this trip as the key memory of the time. Kyle is friendly and communicative, Instead of just offering a cross country skiing session, he gets to know the group to understand our likes, then as the walk progresses, he gave us options to explore new trails. Awesome tour! One of our favourite days was spent doing this. We were lucky enough my boyfriend and I were the only 2 and he met our experience levels and took us all around the forest and the lake. Not just the tour but so many surprises on the way from snacks, warm drinks, lunch by the fire and so many stories. Awesome service and would definitely do it again.

We were right to book this tour. It is a private one that gives you the authentic and genuine experience of Finland, not like a commercial one. We had a fantastic time hiking and skiing with Kyle, who took great care of us throughout the trip. He brought us to a stunning wild forest and lake, where we caught an unforgettable pink-and-blue sunset. Kyle seemed to know everything about Finland and checked in with us often to make sure we were comfortable. Back at his place, we were warmly greeted by his wife, their little one (basically a mini version of Kyle), and two shy but adorable reindeer. The only downside? I’m really missing his homemade blueberry juice—it was so good, and now I can’t find anything like it anywhere!

Put on the skis and held on to the poles as we trekked through snow and a frozen lake with amazing views through the forest.
