Aurora Photography Expedition With Video

Our night with Aurora Borealis Guide was absolutely unforgettable. The entirety of Finland was covered in clouds, so at first our prospects of seeing the northern lights felt pretty uncertain. But Paolo never gave up. He was constantly monitoring the apps, weather radar, and aurora activity reports, determined to find us a break in the sky. Thanks to his persistence and expertise, he successfully navigated us to a clear patch — and not only did we see the aurora borealis, we experienced incredible, vibrant activity dancing across the sky. It was beyond anything we could have hoped for. On top of that, Paolo took some fantastic photos of us under the lights, capturing a true bucket list moment that we’ll treasure forever. This experience simply wouldn’t have happened without his dedication and skill. If you’re chasing the northern lights, you want Paolo on your side.

I had an amazing Aurora-chasing experience! It was absolutely freezing out there, but totally worth it—we managed to capture some incredible photos. Rafael was fantastic throughout the trip. This was an Amazing night. Rafa went on and beyond on this tour. Our first location was great, there where more tourist and tours and there was also Northern Lights. We took some really nice pictures and Rafa mentioned that there was more and we moved to another location. Waited for the Big show and it came. This was a magical experience. What a fantastic night!! We had a great night. The predictions where high, the Moon was Full. Rafa Made a first stop where more toursist and tours where. We took some pictures with nice Aurora’s. Rafa said there is more but we have to be patience…so we where. And yess after some wait and nice tea and cookies, it happened. The BIG moment was there. An Amazing appearance and such a wonderful experience Thank you Rafa for this great night!

From the start, Rafa was incredibly warm and friendly and managed our expectations well, educating us on the different elements that contribute to the visibility of the Aurora and letting us know the probability of us witnessing it. He had snacks and drinks to keep us warm too! We did the drive north where we spotted the first glimpse of the Aurora. Rafa took some photos for us and checked his apps to see where the Aurora would be more visible. Honestly speaking, this sighting would’ve been enough to leave us happy and satisfied as we know the Aurora can be elusive and unpredictable at times. Rafa insisted we head further north and when we reached, we got the most beautiful view of the Aurora over the lake. Albeit not the most intense display but it was so beautiful. We waited it out and got the “explosion” we were hoping for. This paired with a clear view of the Milky Way made the experience feel other worldly. We could not recommend Nordic Escapes enough. Amazing service and the determination to get you the best views of the Northern Lights is unbeatable. 100/10, thank you so much Rafa for ticking this off our bucket list, we’re eternally grateful.

I’ve been on several tours and this is without any doubt the best Aurora tour and you can take my word for it. Rafael delivered above and beyond my expectations in making our experience memorable, he picked us up on time from our hotels and drove us safely to an excellent spot where we’ve seen the breathtakingly beautiful auroras. Rafael is a professional photographer and he’s taken a lot of lovely photos as well as time-lapsed videos which I have kept on watching as it makes me feel like I’m taken back to the time and place when we’ve witnessed the gloriously amazing Northern Lights. We booked at the last minute and Raphael agreed to do the tour even though it was just my partner and me, since the forecast for the night was good. It was amazing — we visited several spots, but the first one was the best because we saw beautiful colors in a comfortable setting. We received the photos and videos the very next day, and they were excellent quality. Highly recommended!

Though there's less reviews and newer, this tour was incredible. Rafael found the right spot and captured extraordinary photos of the northern lights. It was right above us and he caught us on video with an incredible view of the sky. He stayed with me as I captured long exposure shots with my phone, some of the best northern lights seen on my trip so far.

Though it took some effort to chase the aurora. It was total worthy as we finally achieved and the view was so nice. Big applause to our amazing guide Rafa. Your Persistence and professional knowledge was so inspiring and touching.

The experience was once in a life time experience. Rafael is a wonderful guy as a guide as well as as a person! He is very knowledgeable. We got the chance to see aurora because of his passion. He was tracking everything down since morning and made sure that we make it on time to see it when it is exploding since we had booked it 4 times before with other companies and wasn’t able to see it. We went at 6pm and was able to see it around 7:30pm. Mostly others take you out at 8pm and track it overnight, but with him we went early and were able to see it exploding at the right time . After that we stayed until 2pm but still couldn’t see much if the lights. It was the perfect time when we went. He is a genuine guy who puts his hard work and talent into the work and a very good person at heart! Trustworthy, hardworking, kind and generous, very authentic person. One should definitely go with nordic escapes to all the tours, we even booked Ranua zoo trip with them and it was awesome! He has so much knowledge about animals. He even took very beautiful pictures of us. All the experience were worth it. We were about to leave the same day but because of them we cancel our plans and extended our trip for next couple of days. Had it been not him, we would have missed such a nice experience of our life! Thanks nordic escapes and thanks to you Rafael and Gina!!!!!

NordicEscapes knows all camera settings and all the Aurora viewpoints in Finland/Sweden. Until deep in the night we went to various locations to find gaps in the clouds. We found one gap with Aurora on our last night at 03:00. The plane left Finland at 10:00. NordicEscapes is the perfect Aurorahunter for photographers.

Great trip to see the Northern Lights, rafael took us from ruins to Sweden to see it because the sky was cloudy, then nature and a bit of luck did everything else! He also took us a lot of pictures with his professional equipment, the top on everything! Bravo

I became aware of the tour via Instagram and compared to other providers this one is great. We were picked up at the agreed location and it all worked great. We drove by car until the sky was clear and we could also safely see the Northern Lights. In our case, we even went as far as Sweden. Also the pictures that were taken are great and were all provided to us at no additional cost in great quality. You can really tell how much of a clue Rafael has and I felt in good hands the whole time. If we come here again, it's definitely with Rafael again. It was a great experience. Rafael was looking for the best window to see the auroras and we found them! It was very nice! He is not lazy to do km if it is to ensure the sighting, and made us some beautiful photographs. If we had not been at -31oC we would have enjoyed it more, but that is not in your hands. Lucky your van to shelter us!

We stayed in Rovaniemi for three nights. We booked this one on the first day, but Rafael saw the sky and suggested the last night, when we would most likely see the Northern Lights. Our guide Rafa was in contact with us and indicated the best day to do the excursion. We picked up very punctual and took us by van two hours out of Rovaniemi (to Sweden) to find the most optimal place and without interference to see auroras. While in Rovaniemi it was cloudy, where Rafa planned the sky was clear. It does its best to achieve the goal and travels as much as it takes without skimping miles. We could see a unique Northern Lights show that we will never forget. Also take very good photos and videos to have as a memory. If you have doubts about the excursion to choose, with Rafa you will be sure.

We did the excursion with Rafa one day which in Rovaniemi was quite cloudy but thanks to its Capacity (in covers) and perseverance to find the most suitable places we moved to Sweden and we could see some beautiful green and red lights! We very much appreciate his friendliness, his passion for the auroras and that he is able to travel wherever it is needed as long as you get to see them. He also took pictures and shared a video of the experience that we will keep as a memory with great affection.
