Nice flexibility on the schedule changing, but still it’ll be better if the clarification on Headout can include clearer cancellation policy, I.e. cancelation should be made 3 hrs or one day before the tour begins, like what you do on Tripadviser.

We had fun, but we didn't see the northern lights because it was to cloudy. We drove 10 min from Rovaniemi so thats probably not far enough. Better book a tour that will drive you near Sweden if you want to be sure to see the Northern lights!

Amazing tour, really unforgettable experience. The guides was very kind and passionated, you can feel they really love what thet do. He explain a lot about the aurora and the sky and also about Finland life. We drive far from city, so no light pollution, we have seen aurora, but very little of it, but yes we understand that this is natural phenomenon and nobody can nothing to do. Also the campfire part was nice, warm fire in teepee, sausages and hot drink, very friendly atmosphere with local music. We visited 3 different places, totally it was about 3 hours The guide was always checking if everyone is ok and comfortable, not rushing, very calm and professional, answering any of our quastions I really recommend this tour if you want real experience, not tourist trap. Great experience, great organisation. They are trustable person, not the classic that wants only money, they tell you if there is the chance to see the Aurora, and in case is a bad day they cancel the reservation or reschedule it. Other companies just tried to get our money even if the sky was really cloudy. Everyone in the staff was really friendly and prepared. On top they photographed us and gifted the photo. Other companies ask for 100+€ per photo. Also the dinner with the camp fire was good.

I booked online the Aurora hunt with BBQ with To the North agency and I was supposed to be picked up at 7:50 PM. Nobody showed up. At 8:03 PM I texted someone from the agency. I also called them. No answer. Then they messaged me saying I had already been picked up. Really?! I was freezing waiting for them since 7:35 PM in front of a hotel and the guy tells me first that I have already been picked up and then that it seems that “somebody has sat on my place”. WTF?! Then they checked it and they said that an Asian lady who didn’t speak English said my name in order to be picked up. My name?! My name is a Catalan name. I explained it to some Asian friends and they are still laughing. I begged them to be picked up because it was my last opportunity to see the Northern lights and their answer was: “All cars already left, somebody took your place”. No apologies. No solutions. Nothing. 1- Nobody was picked up at 7:50 PM at the place I was supposed to be picked up and was written in my email. I was there and no Asian ladies with Catalan names were there. The truth is that there was a customer waiting for a van at Arctic light hotel and nobody showed up. 2- If there has been a misunderstanding or it’s your mistake, call the client immediately, apologize and give an explanation. 3- If the client calls you several times, answer the phone. 4- Maybe your hikes are not located in Sunset Boulevard but bloody hell, you really think you are a cheap Hollywood screenwriter with your ridiculous stories about Asian ladies who impersonate customers. I ended up booking last minute with Nordic agency. They are absolutely great and they made sure I left the country having seen the Northern lights. This is how you run a business, not saying things like: “One asian lady said that she Montse, she dont speak english”. So ridiculous. I chose the option “pay on arrival” so probably they gave my place to another person who called last minute and paid immediately online and they “forgot” my booking, otherwise they would have picked me up because the vans were not that far when everything happened and it wasn’t my mistake. Vamos, que pasaron absolutamente de todo porque les dio la real y absoluta gana demostrando lo poco profesionales que son. Si os queréis asegurar de hacer la excursión, reservad en otra agencia.

Alex and Elyas were amazing, they took us to the place with the clearest sky, we had a great aurora show and they were there to give context and stories about aurora!

Great experience ,staff and BBQ! Have different languages and we moved to 2 place to see aurora. They provided oweralls for all The sizes and very comfortable shoes.

Bbq was nice guides didn't give us any information on aurora though and even though we tried several places no aurora

Alex is a great guide, couldn't recommend enough! Honest and very open to explain and try to find the best spots to see the Aurora. When searching, I was looking for someone that didn't realy just want to exploit tourists trying to get the money when there is zero chance to see the lights and also just sit in a spot without hunting the lights. Alex's tour is the opposite. Keep in mind that Aurora is unpredictable, you may have all the chances, great sun activity but still not being able to see it. But at least find a professional open to try their best to give you the opportunity to see it. I booked last minute because my other tour was canceled and Alex was very flexible. We got lucky to see the lights after three or four cloudy days in town, but he was also very honest about the probabilities for that night. - He does pick up in the central area - Small group (in our car we were in four people only) - Hot juice and barbecue were a nice courtesy, I wasn't even expecting! - Also he took some pictures of us (and sent it the next morning without extra cost) which is also something I didn't expect. So yeah, if you get the chance, do it. Even if you don't see the lights, at least you will have the feeling that it was worth trying. Thanks! FYI: Tour date: 29/01/24

Although there are no guarantees to see the lights this wasn’t the problem with the excursion. The tour guides could have provided a lot more energy and enthusiasm about the trip. There was very little dialogue from them and it seemed the whole night was a chore. At least enjoy the company of those you are taking out

We had a really good time hunting the Aurora Borealis together with Alex. We had a nice barbecue, got warmed up by the fire, and actually got to experience the lights !! It was incredible, and throughout the experience the atmosphere was jolly and fun. Thank you for an amazing time !

We were picked up at our hotel and taken to different locations to see the northern lights. December is not the best month as the weather can be quite unpredictable. Luckily we were able to catch a glimpse of this natural wonder followed by a much needed barbeque. The pictures came for free :)

I had an extraordinary Aurora Hunt today in Rovaniemi, guided by Alex. His impeccable plan and timing ensured a mesmerizing experience witnessing the Northern Lights. Words can't capture the magic. Special thanks to Alex for orchestrating a delightful BBQ with marshmallows and hot tea afterward.

By far the best Aurora hunting experience we went on. Alexi was amazing. Found the lights with no trouble and he took amazing pics for us. Do not book with another tour (only this one) or you will regret it.

We were not lucky to see the Aurora Borealis but had an amazing time nonetheless! We thoroughly enjoyed the the fire, the sausages and drinks and the long drive in search of the lights. The guide was extremely helpful and very nice.

Excellent evening. Alex our guide and Dmitry our driver were determined that we would see the lights and they took us to 4 places far and wide in search of them. Their persistence paid off and at the end of the evening we were rewarded. Alex took photos for everyone too and we are delighted with the results. We did not manage to see the auroras that night, but we had decided to join the group with our own vehicle for the convenience of sitting in our own car with the heater on. We appreciate Alex's flexibility on that matter and managed to follow his van. The BBQ was tasty, but it was perhaps a bit too cold to really enjoy too far from the fire. Too bad Alex can't control the weather, but that's forgiven because the sausages and hot juice were tasty. :) While we tried different spots, we couldn't see any obvious aurora that night, but we managed to go back to the same spots the following days and succeeded! We probably wouldn't have if it were not for locating the spots from the tour with Alex. There's only one thing to know about auroras: You have to persist if you hope to see one. Don't plan to stay less than a week in the area where they are susceptible to appear, and wait (up to several hours) in a spot that is free of clouds. When you're on your own of course, as the tours can't last forever. So all good for us, we'd encourage you to try your luck with this kind and friendly guide. Note: No tour can guarantee you to view an aurora. The "unlimited mileage" tours are usually unreasonably too expensive, will drive for hours and hours and do not all pay you back the integrity of your money if you don't see any auroras. Best practice is to try your luck on a regular tour like that one, keep in mind the locations and come back on your own. From our experience at least...

This tour is really amazing! Our guide Alex is very friendly and has a lot of knowledge about Aurora Borealis. When we went out, we immidiately saw it and had the opportunity to get great pictures. The drinks and food also were delicious. I warmly recommend the trip to everyone visiting Rovaniemi.

This experience was one of the highlights of our holiday and worth every cent. Aleksei is an incredible guide and a very kind person. He made us feel welcome and approached us as if we've been friends for years. He's been 100% transparent about what he can offer and the retail price of everything we consumed. Straight from the get go he told us that we will set up camp by a lake and in case we're not lucky enough to catch a good look at aurora borealis, we have the option to move camp to a second location. That kind of commitment was very reassuring and appreciated. The sausages and drink he offered were very good quality, not the cheapest or even mid range market items. We loved it so much that we bought some more the following day. The first camp is about 5-7 minutes away from the end of the road, through relatively deep snow, be sure to wear adequate equipment, it gets very cold even well equipped. You won't feel the cold for a while because the scenery is breathtaking but once the novelty wears off you better be wearing winter boots. All in all, the experience will remain in our hearts and memories for years to come and we will do our best to keep in touch with this amazing person.

Amazing trip! The guide was very interesting and intelligent person. I saw the northern lights with my own eyes. Definitely worth your money!

We booked for 3 people and Aleksei picked us up, drove us to 2 different locations. Alek was so transparent with the information from the begining about the probability and visibility of the aurora and taught us how to see it and use the camera to capture. He also takes pics and edit them for us to make it Instagramable. However, we were happiest with the part of grilling sausages with Lappish tool & drinking Glogi together in the nature! Highly recommend this tour as it makes nice & meaning memory with your friends! For the record, we didnt see aurora with bare eyes but it was captured by the camera, still good!

The Aurora hunt was real. the guide made sure to capture it, changed locations until we started our camp under the skies that the Aurora will be passing. he kept checking the application to find the right spot. The BBQ was fun, the guide took our food preferences in advance.

We enjoyed our short hike and bbq with Alex. The drone shots of our hike were amazing. It was our last day in Rovaniemi and Alex was kind enough to keep our luggages after our walk while we spend our remaining time in the museum. He picked us up after and brought us to the airport.

It was very nice to go Aurora hunting with Aleksei, because he really cared about seeing them, not just sitting at one spot and waiting for Aurora to show up. First of all, Aleksei was very flexible with his time. He offered us to go Aurora hunting later because there were still a lot of clouds in the area. Secondly, we checked more places (three) in order to increase our chances of seeing northern lights. All of these places were outside of Rovaniemi, where there was no light that could affect our visibility. Aleksei was very communicable and he knew a lot about Finland and Rovaniemi area. He can also speak Russian and Estonian. Next time we will be in Rovaniemi we will definitely want to go Aurora hunting with him again. Thanks a lot! 😊😍

The Northlight Chasing tour was an unforgettable experience, even though we were unlucky to see the aurora, the tour guide made sure we had a great time with excellent conversation and a delicious BBQ. The snow experience was truly magical, and it added a touch of adventure to the tour. We had a very good time with Aleksei ! The northern lights were not there (bad weather) but the evening was very nice. We learned a lot about Finnish culture, traditions and local food. Aleksei is a very good and kind guide who gave us good advice to visit many places arround Rovaniemi. We highly recommend this activity and thank again our guide for the great evening.

Alex was so great!! Highly recommended! He picked up from our place and send us back to the same address. The tour was private so it’s perfect for privacy. And he drove us to the multiple best possible spots to see the auroras, and we saw the amazing aurora even the pink ones! Alex is also a great photographer, he shot all those amazing photos for us and helped us to created the best memories we could imagine. 100% worth the value, don’t miss it.

Me and my mother went with Alex to see the northern lights on a private tour. He outlined his plan on our way to the first planned stop. If we don't see anything at our first stop, he would take us to another place for a new attempt at seeing the northern lights. We stopped at our first stop, he picked up his BBQ kit and off we go. He setup the fireplace, started heating up the Gogli and we waited by the fire. When the Gogli was ready, we started putting the sausages on BBQ sticks and started heating them. As we did all this, we finnaly got to see the northern lights and Aleks started taking pictures with his phone which ended up phenomenal. It was freezing cold (~19ºC) , my mother (70yo) wasn't able to resist the cold and Alex offered to allow her to stay in the car where it was warm. Just to emphasize the following. At that stop, there were a lot of other "guides" and companies with their customers. Me and my mother witnessed several guides asking Alex (our guide) for help on starting the fireplace, preparing camera settings and tweaking iphone settings to get the best pictures. Folks, this is your go to GUIDE. I cannot recomend Alex enough. We were really pleased with the service and the pictures we got. We asked for both edited and unedited pictures and we got it.

The Northern Lights tour was great. We were picked up by a small bus at our Airbnb and drove first to a public lake, here only a few Northern Lights were visible. Then we went on to a private meeting place by the lake. Here there were two fireplaces where we could warm up, warm tea and sausages that we could grill over the fire ourselves with skewers, plus a kind of small flatbread. The group was manageable with about 20 participants, 3 minibuses. The private location in the snowy forest by the fire was very nice and we still saw plenty of Northern Lights! I can absolutely recommend this tour for € 89 per person.

Very good experience. We could see the Northern Lights in several places, yet it was not visible everywhere but our guide knew how to take us to beautiful spots, we even stopped on the road quickly when there was a passing dawn. Thank you!

We saw the northern lights from the 15 minutes we were on the tour!!! And they took us to three different spots, everything was great!! From Mexico

We booked this activity to see the auroras, however, they put us in a minivan without prior information to travel a lot of kilometers, surprisingly south, and although we went to several places due to the clouds we could not see anything. The guides, knowing the weather conditions, knew very well that the probability was zero or very low and yet they continue carrying out the activity and how they have it scheduled, so we feel deceived in this aspect.

SUPER / FANTASTIC What a super great Northern Lights tour with guide Alex this was!!!!! We had booked the tour for Saturday depending on the location, but due to the low power of the Northern Lights, Alex thought it would be better to postpone the tour for a day, great!! The next day the chance was much greater, but unfortunately it was very cloudy. No problem. We drove more than 100 km to the Swedish border to view the beautiful Northern Lights under a clear starry sky. In the end the tour took much longer, but no problem. The beautiful Northern Lights was the goal. It was really S U P E R!!! I can recommend everyone to book with Alex.

We were picked up from the Santa Claus Village and then picked up 4 other travelers. We drove about 20 minutes from Rovaniemi to escape the light pollution. Our very nice guide allowed a campfire at a happy river. He warmed up a kind of mulled wine and ate it. There were traditional Finnish pastries with rice for everyone. A corn cob for vegetarians and a grilled sausage for everyone else. During this time we were able to watch the northern lights. Then we drove to another place where some tours were going and watched the lights again for about 10 minutes because then they disappeared. Then we were taken back to our individual pick-up point. It was a very nice trip, in a small but nice group. The guide, Alex, was very nice and tried to make the best of it for everyone. I can only recommend this trip.
