One of the coolest experiences of floating in a large body of water in the nighttime was truly unforgettable and the guide was amazing.

Departure Point
- This tour includes a pickup & drop off from listed hotels. The time for meeting point and place will be confirmed upon the reservation by email and/or text message. Please note that our tours and transfers follow a fixed schedule and therefore we advise being at the designated meeting point 5 minutes before the meeting time. Failing to be at the pick-up point at the given time may result in missing the transfer. Refunds will not be issued for the missed activity or any inconvenience caused as a result. Northern Lights are a natural occurrence and we are unable to guarantee activity, vibrancy or colour on the evening of the tour.
Itinerary
After a hotel pick up, we will take a 25-minute drive to a lake where our Northern lights adventure will take place. Once we give you some tips, go through safety instructions, and dress you up in our suits, you can take a dip in the icy lake and enjoy the sky above you. Swimming takes place in an icy hole, and we guarantee that you won't be cold! In fact, you will feel amazing. The suits will keep you warm so you can relax and enjoy the starry skies above you. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon, and we cannot guarantee that you will get to see them. Why? Because, nature is unpredictable and as much as we wish to look at the lights every night, sometimes we won't be that lucky. However, we organize this tour from autumn to spring when the chances of seeing Northern lights are the highest! To give you the best Lappish experience we'll serve warm drinks by an open fire, share some cookies and have our cozy wooden cottage available for those who want to snuggle up before we head back. The adventure usually last for 3 hours. That's plenty of time to enjoy swimming in the icy waters!

It was a great experience, very peaceful and a sky full of stars. We also had beautiful northern lights display
A great time well worth the experience
Such a fun and unique activity, we also got lucky and saw the northern lights while floating in the water so we could enjoy the magical moment without our necks hurting from staring up as we were comfortably on our backs.
It was so amazing, unique. I did as a surprise for my bf for his bday . Our travel guide , I believe his name Victoria, was so nice and play his part and told the other passengers to play along . On our way to the lake he stopped showed us the beautiful aurora lights , took pictures than we were off to . In the cabin he explained everything suited us up . He took videos and pictures each of us getting into the lake . Turned the lights off ( but he remained right on the dock ) so we have can see the light to the fullest. 😍😍 As coming out he helped me since I got stocked 😂 on the ice 😂. After taking the suit off we had hot tea , cookies . My bf had an amazing time ! These survival suits are fun to float in !! No water got in! Highly recommend this activity since it’s super unique!! 😍😍😍
Such a fun experience! I thought my feet or hands would get wet but I stayed totally dry. It truly was a great time and the guides were lovely and very encouraging!
SKIP THEM if you want basic decency—plenty of other tour outfits in Rovaniemi that do it way better and actually understand the meaning of customer service. Awful experience which actually left a bad taste for the place. We got stuck with a rude guy who came to pick us up from our hotel and insisted that we get in the back row of an empty van for no good reason (except that it was how he did things), even though one of us is 6’2” and has knee pain. When we politely asked to switch to a better spot up front, the driver Brandon just shut us down. He basically said “it looks fine to me”. Every question was answered with the same phrase, whether it made sense or not. We then proposed one of us sits where he wants and the tall person sits up front anywhere except the back row (as it couldn’t be moved and was extremely uncomfortable for someone tall). The answer was no and he then proceeded to not even let us sit in the van and stand outside in -25, while he went and sat in the van. We then received a call from their office which wasn’t much better in that they were not only rude as well but also suggested the same solution that we anyway suggested to the driver but ofcourse he refused to listen to us. Made the whole day stressful and felt like there might’ve been some racial bias playing into how they treated us. Not only did we not receive a refund / constructive solution despite having paid upfront weeks in advance, this was the last day of our trip and it spoilt our entire mood. After checking other reviews, seems like bad staff vibes are a theme and we shouldn’t have booked with them.
Brendan my friend- thank you for one of the most meditative, cool and unique experience. He was funny, assuring , quick with and absolutely felt like a friend. He has got a knack for understanding humans and also clicking pictures. Would recommend this to anyone going to Finland.
professional staff multilanguage, placed in a quite awesome space, funny expirience. relax and enjoi the time with him . try it !
We were picked up as organised from our hotel by Mattia, who introduced himself and directed us to the waiting minibus. En-route to the lake he noticed Northern Lights in the sky so pulled into a lay-by so we could get out and get some photos. After about 10 minutes we continued to the cabin / lake. Once in the cabin he explained what to do and proceeded to get us into our thermal wet suits. Throughout the whole evening Mattia made sure everyone was ok and helped anyone who needed more assistance. He took one phone from the group to take photos with and then these were shared when we were all back in the cabin. Once back in the cabin there was hot juice and biscuits for anyone that wanted it. The experience was very well organised and Mattia is very knowledgable about the Northern Lights, photography and local area. All in all a great evening and made better by the friendly fun nature of Mattia coupled with his professionalism to ensure all were safe. Thank you !!
Amazing experience to create memories. It was something new and exciting and a bizarre experience that I would say is a must when visiting Lapland. The staff were friendly and set you at ease but at the same time professional. The trip left you with a feeling of personal achievement.
A visit in June 2025 enabled us to try the survival suit floating experience. It was amazing but left us wanting to try it again - in the ice. -35c outside and plenty of ice. Hole made, in we got. Careful and clear instructions and guidance from the team and everyone well set for the adventure. Phenomenal time and such a memorable thing to do. A really nice location, not too far out from the centre and with good , warm space to get changed and then enjoy hot juice and cookies afterwards
Ice floating was incredibly fun and unlike anything else we’ve done. Although we didn’t see the northern lights due to the brightness of the full moon, we were lucky enough to see several shooting stars, which made the night feel magical in its own way. The guide was fantastic—friendly, professional, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and had a great time. Even without the aurora, this was absolutely worth it and a highlight of our trip. Highly recommend.
Very nice experience, and it was possible to witness one-of-a-kind Aurora sightings, so worth it!! The drive was super easy to reach the destination. The Glogi was so refreshing.
Do it!! It was unique experience that made me smile non-stop. I thought I would be in and out of the water in a matter of seconds but we staying in for an almost an hour! No northern lights but that didn’t reduce our pleasure at all :) Brendan was a super host.
Amazing experience. Didn’t get the northern lights but being able to lie down in a cold lake and look up at the clear starry sky. Given lots of time in the lake floating.
This experience was amazing! Brandon was awesome and such an attentive guide. We loved peacefully floating and luckily got to see the northern lights. I think it would be worth it even if you didn't see the northern lights.
Even though we didn't see the northern lights as it was overcast, I would still recommend the floating. There is nothing more relaxing than floating in the night sky and the guide was great. The group was just the right size
Victor, our guide, was very friendly to make the whole experience much more relaxed. The ice floating was my favorite part of visiting Rovaniemi, I loved how we could float as long (or as little as we liked). In the insulated suits, I didn't feel cold. And while I normally am a bit uneasy with dark water, I felt perfectly safe in the suits floating around. We saw a spectacular show of Northern Lights, with green, red/purple, and white! There was a lot of movement of the lights, and it was a perfect, quiet spot to view them.
Such a unique experience. The aurora show started as soon as we got there. Thanks guys! 🤗Great crew. Especially Brandon who made us laugh and got excellent photos of us. Thank you!
Very well organized tour; appreciated that pick up was included. The floating was fun and very relaxing!
Amazing experience. Beautiful site. Facilities & equipment were perfectly maintained. Guides were personable, funny, and engaging. On the evening we went, we had two groups with 16 people total split in two van. Pickup was exactly at the scheduled time. Vans were comfortable. Ride out to the site took about 40 minutes. The guides explained the process to us, then suited us up into the survival suits. We are from Florida so we were worried that we’d be cold. That was unwarranted. The suits keep you comfortable for about 30 minutes of water immersion. The darkness of the night and the stillness of the surrounds create a magical experience. The night we went it was cloudy so no Northern lights but it was still well worth it. After about half an hour you begin feeling the cold in your hands but it’s not like you are freezing. I headed out, but there were several people who stayed in the water for almost an hour. After the experience you head back inside the dressing cabin and are given a warm drink and cookies. When everyone is out, has had something to eat and drink and is ready to go, you are loaded back into the van and head back. The whole process was about 3 hours. I would highly recommend it. I’d say it is a once in a lifetime experience but I can wait to do it the next time we are in Rovaniemi.
The Aurora Arctic Ice Floating experience was absolutely amazing and truly unforgettable. We even got to see the beautiful northern lights :). Thanks to the Nordic Adventure team, everything was well organized, safe, and magical. Our guide, Matthia, was fantastic and friendly, made us feel comfortable the entire time, and even took photos of all of us in the water... After the wonderful, but also slightly cold, time in the ice water, we got to warm up again in a hut with drinks and cookies. Truly an experience we highly recommend!
Amazing experience! We were very lucky that the aurora came out just as we arrived so we got time to take some pictures before getting ready for the ice floating. Surreal experience floating in ice surrounded by the beautiful lights and even saw a couple of shooting stars! Well looked after by the staff and enjoyed the hot drinks and biscuits afterwards. Would def recommend- great experience without the lights but made much more special by using them join us!
An amazing experience!! So fun and relaxing, unfortunately didn’t see the lights during this activity but I would 100% still recommend to anyone visiting Finland!
Spent a close to a week in lapland, was lucky enough to have seen the auroras already. Was told this was not a good day to see again, guess what ? Once arrive to location auroras were waiting on us for the second day in a row. Our guide was very passionate about nature and provided a wealth of knowledge about the area. Once the auroras disappeared in about 20 minutes we proceeded to a wam cabin in which we were introduced to our survivals wet suits. Instructions were given and proceeded to get in to a froze lake. Ice had to be broken apart so that we could get in.... yes it was that cold. My teenager son was the first one in and the last one out, what and amazing experience. Once in a lifetime. Just book it!
Somehow I convinced my husband to float in a frozen river and it didn’t disappoint! Victor was our guide and he was super friendly, fun and so kind. I forgot my thin gloves and he even let me borrow his. He took all the photos, made our nerves go away by cracking jokes and was super informative. 10/10 recommend
Very nice experience. Peaceful and safe to do. Worth the time. Didn’t get to see the Aurora lights as it was cloudy. The host Matteo was very kind and patient.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently did the Aurora Arctic Ice Floating in Rovaniemi and it was truly unforgettable. Floating in a thermal suit in an icy lake under the dark Lapland sky was both peaceful and surreal. The staff were professional, friendly, and made sure we were safe and comfortable at all times. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the Northern Lights due to cloud cover, which is why I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars — but that’s just nature. The overall experience was still magical, and the sensation of weightlessness in the cold water was something I’ll never forget. Highly recommended for anyone looking to do something out of the ordinary in Lapland!
Great experience, starting from pickup where we met our guide, Victor. After a short drive, we arrived at the lake and got into our floating suits. It was simply beautiful and we were fortunate to see the northern lights. 10/10 recommend, as the ice floating itself was fun and super peaceful. Thank you Victor for the great chat and for being an awesome guide.
This was a great experience! It's something we'll never forget. Our tour guide Victor took great pictures and video of us. We really appreciate everything Victor did for us!
It was an amazing experience. Our guides were very helpful, kind and funny! Thank you Mattia and Brandan! I recommend this tour 100% Loved it!
Brandan the tour guide was so lovely! Very informative and funny. An overall magical experience, floating is very tranquil and you can hardly feel the cold at all. Had some lovely traditional hot drinks ready for when you get out! And cookies! Such a nice time and the highlight of my trip.
We had a great time! The suits were hilarious and our guides were fantastic! I highly recommend this experience for anyone looking for a unique experience and lots of laughs!
It was super exciting to float in the lake, looking at the sky at night time, to stand up and walk under water feeling like the moon landing. All super well managed by Mattia and the team. We had a great chat after the activity, while we enjoyed a hot drink and some ginger biscuits and learnt about the Finnish culture, the people, their ways and his experience in the country. Great experience!
The floating was exciting and our guide Mattia made the whole experience even better with his knowledge and passion for Lapland and Finland.
We loved it. It was a very relaxing experience. Mattia was very Nice and funny, and in the end sit with us and talked with us about some curiosites from lapland
Very relaxing experience; guides also told us a lot of fun facts about Lapland, definitely recommend to anyone visiting:)
Alex was a great tour guide - our group had a wonderful time floating on the river. He was very long and took a lot of pictures of us :)
A phenomenal experience with an awesome tour guide (Jaco). We were fortunate enough to have the aurora dancing above us. The location of the lake is perfectly situated and undoubtedly increases the chances. The evening ended with a lovely warm drink & enchanting stories. Definitely a worthwhile experience.
An amazing experience which exceeded our expectations. Our guide Mattia was polite, extremely professional and full of jokes to make every moment interesting. The activity is one of a kind and even for someone who has never swam before, Mattia ensured I was comfortable throughout the activity duration. He also clicked great pictures of us just as a huge aurora sighting happened. Afterwards, we stayed in the cabin drinking hot berry juice, watching pictures and learning about Finland and the Aurora Borealis phenomenon from Mattia. We recommend this activity and Mattia as a guide for anyone looking to have a unique, breathaking experience.
Such a fun and unique little activity to do while you’re here! Our guide Mattia was very friendly and patient taking care of everyone in the group so we all felt comfortable. We had plenty of time to float and drank some hot juice afterwards, all while our guide told us stories about the northern lights and Finland in general. We were very lucky because we got to see the northern lights aswell! A perfect ending to a fun activity.
What an experience! We did a night float (7pm-ish). Although we didn’t see the aurora, it was amazing to be floating under the stars. Even our teenager had a great time! The staff was skilled and made sure everyone was safe. Would recommend!
This is such a unique activity. Must do whilst in Tromso. Nice small group, I hate cold water, but wasn't wet or cold at any time. Great friendly staff.
Recommend this activity for those that want to try something different. We were picked up at our hotel in Rovaneimi and taken to a cabin near the lake where everything was well explained in detail before we took the plunge in the warm waterproof suits into icy cold water. Floating in the lake gazing up at the stars, planets, clouds and full moon was very relaxing. The aurora would have taken this activity to another level but even without it, it’s an awesome experience!
The guy was awesome and we had a really good time together! I e floating was a really good experience for both of of us and I really recommend to do it.
Though we weren't able to see the aurora, due to the weather conditions.. Mattia was an amazing guide, really made the experience comfortable, fun, smooth and reliable (with pick up and drop off). He made it such a memorable and lovely experience!! Thank you!!
This was a truly magnificent experience - from pick up to drop off - everything ran smoothly, was professionally run, and was a great experience. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience. As someone with a fear of drowning, Brendon was very supportive and empathetic. He went into the water with me and held my hand and spoke to me the entire time I was in the water. He made me feel safe and made the whole experience a positive one. I would highly recommend as a bucket list moment.
The ice floating was an incredible experience. Super relaxing and beautiful. Only part of my body that got cold were my fingers, the suits did a great job or keeping us warm! Brendan was our guide and we adored him, super knowledgeable and friendly!!!
