My stay at Scandic Pohjanhovi in March 2026 was nothing short of fantastic — a perfect blend of comfort, location, and authentic Lapland charm. Set right by the Kemijoki River, the hotel offered stunning winter views, with snow-covered landscapes stretching in every direction. March turned out to be an ideal time to visit: the days were getting longer, the light was beautiful, and the crisp Arctic air made everything feel fresh and invigorating. The rooms were warm, clean, and thoughtfully designed — exactly what you want after a day out in the cold. Waking up to views of the frozen river was a highlight in itself. The hotel’s atmosphere struck a great balance between cozy and lively, with a welcoming Nordic feel throughout. Breakfast each morning was excellent, with a wide selection that catered to all tastes — from hearty hot options to lighter, fresh choices. It was the perfect way to start a day of exploring Rovaniemi and the surrounding winter scenery. The staff truly made the experience stand out. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, they were always ready with recommendations or assistance, adding a personal touch that made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, Scandic Pohjanhovi in March 2026 was an ideal base for a Lapland adventure — comfortable, scenic, and full of character. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Arctic region.

Everything was great other than the rooms don't have a telephone and was unable to turn the lights on inside the room. Breakfast elwas excellent, super recommended to purchase it from the hotel (variety and quality!). The receptionist was asking, I am sorry I didn't get her name to recognize her for being so attentive, graceful and polite.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing. I had a reservation at Scandic Pohjanhovi from 22–25 March 2026 under a non-changeable rate. Due to the Middle East airspace closure, my flights were cancelled and I was unable to travel—this was clearly beyond my control. I contacted the hotel to request a date change to November 2026 and confirmed that I was willing to pay any price difference. My intention was to still honour the booking and stay at the hotel, not to cancel or request a refund. The request was declined. While I understand policies, completely refusing any flexibility in an exceptional global situation, reflects poorly on customer service. Many other hotels were willing to accommodate similar requests. I would strongly recommend travellers think carefully before booking non-changeable rates with this hotel, especially if there is any uncertainty in travel conditions.
Overall decent experience, good was great and the location was decent. The staff were nice, however the cleaning of the room was really really bad. We had to ask the front desk multiple times for housekeeping since they didn’t change the sheets at all, didn’t bring any new towels and one time didn’t even make the beds at all, just left them without any sheets.
We are here at the moment for 4 nights. Apparently the hotel just opened after renovations - but honestly we cannot see what works have been done as nothing looks new or fresh. The hotel is very basic and you don’t get much for your money. The big plus is the location in the middle of town by the river. Common areas - reception area nice but the coffee machine is out of order and when we asked for a kettle for the room it’s an extra €10 Pool and sauna - again does not look like it’s been renovated Breakfast - v large area and loads of options. Rooms - v basic. No kettle/tea or coffee facilities. No extra pillows. No hangers in wardrobe - not even one! Beds are comfortable and good shower. Can’t connect apps to tv and unless you’re on an excursion you will have early nights. It’s a basic 3 star hotel but as we are here in December it is v expensive for what it offers.
