Our guide was wonderful! A mix of history, walking, food, and cultural exploration. Umesh (sp?) was very educated on the city and answered any questions we had. He curated our food stops based on allergies and preferences. He’s funny and was well-liked at all of our stops. I wish it had been a little easier to find him in Stationsplein, but he was looking for people looking for him. Highly recommend!

My first time on a food walk and I was pleasantly surprised. We sampled 6 different “bites” at different eateries as well as learned a lot about the city Rotterdam. Our guises, Cees, was very pleasant, and knowledgeable about the city. He made the experience very enjoyable.
We liked the food excursion and learning about the history of Rotterdam. Tamara did a beautiful job explaining how Rotterdam rose up after World war 2 and recreated itself.
Our guide Umersh was a fantastic tour guide! He had a wealth of knowledge about Rotterdam’s history, culture and architecture. The food in the tour was excellent and by the end we were all full. There were five of us on the tour and we were enjoying it so much we ended up going over the four hours - but nobody minded!
Long walk, but excellent info on art, culture, history, and of course, food. Our guide, Tammy was superb. Highly recommend.
Great tour!! We were originally booked on to the guided walking food tour but changed to the self-guided version. The supporting app for this works well - it's easy to use and keeps you on track while providing helpful and interesting information as you go. While a local guide would have undoubtedly offered additional depth and colour to the experience, we took approximately double the time to complete the tour (around 6 hours rather than around 3 hours estimated for the guided version) but only because we were in no rush / strolling and did other things / had additional stops as we went. The tour format itself is excellent and guided vs self-guided will probably simply come down to personal preference for most people. Worth mentioning as well very good communication from the organiser, Paul, who went above and beyond to ensure that we were looked after. Thanks Paul!
Umesh was a fantastic tour guide! He gave us a wonderful taste of the local flavor through a diverse selection of delicious foods while also sharing fascinating insights into the history of the city. His love for his city was evident throughout the tour, and his expertise in art added an especially interesting and unique perspective. We truly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend Umesh to anyone looking for an engaging, knowledgeable, and authentic tour guide.
A wonderful way to experience the best sights and flavors of Rotterdam! You’ll walk through some of the most colorful and unique parts of the city and the food will be a unique view into the vibrant culture of the largest port city of Europe. Come hungry and you won’t be disappointed!
Great overview of the city. So much food we could not even eat at the last stop. Well worth it and would recommend this. The guide was very good.
Umesh was knowledgeable and lots of fun. We learned about Rotterdam history, architecture, food and art. It was so insightful!
Astrid was a fantastic, passionate tour guide who knew Rotterdam inside and out and spoke about her city with pride. Come with an empty stomach! We’ve done food tours in other countries that was more of a snack focus but we got to the 7th stop very full. It was a great way to experience Rotterdam’s culture, would highly recommend!
Was very fun. Learned a lot about the area and history. Food was excellent with quite a variety. Would highly recommend
Plenty of good food. Lots of stops. Tamara was great! She was very informative and fun to talk to. !!
We visited Rotterdam for a couple of days before a cruise to the British Isles. We had an absolutely incredible time on the Bite Me Food Tour in Rotterdam! Our guide, Umesh, was outstanding—he was knowledgeable, charismatic, and clearly passionate about the city's food scene. He took us to hidden gems we never would have found on our own, blending local history with delicious tastings. From the stories behind the snacks to the vibrant local atmosphere, everything was top-notch. It truly felt like exploring the city with a local friend rather than just a tour. If you're a foodie visiting Rotterdam (or enjoy a walking tour with delicious treats), do yourself a favor and book this tour—and definitely ask for Umesh! 5/5 stars.
Great food and very knowledgeable guide. We only had 1 day in Rotterdam and this was a great way to spend it
Wonderful food and very knowledgeable guide. It was a beautiful day! You should book this tour.
Astrid was brilliant. Not only do you get to taste some of Rotterdam’s finest foods, you also get a great history tour about the city. Personable, enjoyable, tasty and a fantastic experience. An absolute must if you are visiting Rotterdam.
This was my first time doing a food tour, and I'm so glad I did it! It was a great way to see the city and taste the local delicacies. Our tour guide, Astrid, was fantastic and very knowledgeable about Rotterdam and the Dutch culture. If you're on the fence about booking this tour, do it. You won't regret it!
Truly amazing experience. Very personable tour guide and a lovely tour of parts of the city beyond just eating food. Highly recommend for anyone visiting.
The tour was very warm, informative, delicious and very entertaining. Thank you dear Willem, very happy again 🤗
What a wonderful way to see the city, especially when having only a short time to stay in Rotterdam. Our guide was kind and energetic and very knowledgable about a city that clearly she loves. Rotterdam stands out as being one of the most amazing cities, culturally and architecturally - my only wish is that we would have had time to go back to the market another day on our own.
Astrid gave a great tour. She was knowledgeable and made all our stops fun. The food was great. In fact I am sitting at one of the restaurants we went to. (It is the next day.) Highly recommended!
This tour was a fantastic way to see the city of Rotterdam and taste a variety of local cuisine. The foods we tasted were surprising and also filling. Enjoyed each one highlighting a different culture in Rotterdam. Perry our guide did a great job explaining how the cultures have made it to Rotterdam and how their foods influenced each area. During our tour he also highlighted many architectural features throughout the city. It was an amazing tour and Perry was absolutely the best. Be prepared to walk as you cover a lot of ground.
Great range of local & international foods tasted as well as a craft beer. Wilhem was a great tour guide.
The amazing and incomparable Astrid led our fantastic walking food tour of Rotterdam. We met at the location which was easy to find. From the beginning. Astrid was welcoming and so knowledgeable about the city. Her food stops were on point, and we "tasted" a variety of cultures throughout the tour. We appreciated her insight into the city's storied history and various neighborhoods. My husband, an architect, appreciated the variety of buildings we observed. What a wonderful experience we had, and we owe these incredible Rotterdam finds and memories to Astrid!
When others cancelled late they still have my hubby and I the tour. Several food stops some dutch some not. They Chinese dumplings were excellent. I even liked the herring. Ends at an out of the way bar brewery with custom beers. Do not choose the American options indicated by me (new England).
My wife and I (75yrs old) have done a couple of dozen food tours around the world. In all seriousness, the was THE BEST (2cd best was a joke for our tour guide). We had 6 food stops and many more cultural and architectural stops. Amesh (I called him MESS!🤣) had perfect English and was over top knowledgeable about Rotterdam’s history, architecture AND food. We hit many of Rotterdam’s highlight areas and a couple off the beaten path. The food was AMAZING! It varied from fried to fresh and from fish to meat to cheeses. Sooooo good. As to MESS, think of the movie Slumdog Millionaire and square root that character and you might come close to approximating MESS encyclopedic vault of knowledge about Rotterdam and the Netherlands. After the tour, the entire tour group (4) went for a final beer and stayed and talked another 2 hrs! Who stays at “work” for two hours without getting paid?!! If you do not take this tour, you are going to leave Rotterdam with half the experience. SCREW THE YANKEES. GO RED SOX!
Umesh, our tour guide was absolutely the best! His knowledge of history, culture, politics and art were outstanding! We learned so much on this food tour. The food choices were as diverse as the the people of Rotterdam and all very tasty! We couldn’t have asked for a better way to start our visit in Rotterdam.
Small group food tour. Our guide was wonderful and friendly. She was immediately likable and kind. She made you feel at home.
This was a great intro to the city, combining bits of history, culture, and public art with food and drink. The food stops each represented local favorites. Despite the blustery weather, Astrid made the day enjoyable and an excellent way to spend a few hours in town.
This was a fun time! We walked around the city seeing points of interest and learning about the history of the city while enjoying fantastic bites! This is well worth your time! Willem was fun, friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable! You will love him!
Great introduction to Rotterdam sights and Dutch foods by a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. I would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to sightsee and indulge in delicious bites while doing so.
The guide was not only very knowledgeable about the city and the various interesting foods and venues, but he was entertaining and engaging. It was a nice, small group and we had plenty of opportunity to visit as we walked through the city.
I was sick, tried to cancel but had no way of contacting you to do so. Very bad communicating. Would have appreciated a refund.
Don't have a big meal before you go. Lots of interesting 'bites.' Our guide, Astrid, was knowledgeable, and very considerate of my slow walking and need for short rest breaks. She even helped me navigate the tram system to get me back to my hotel without the long walk back. It was very much appreciated.
We had a great time on this tour with Hugo. He has a vast knowledge of the area. We stopped at 7 sites for food and two included alcohol if you so choose. I highly recommend this tour.
Tour guide was excellent, really interesting and friendly. The food experience was a little lacking and needed some more cultural references.
A nice way to learn about Rotterdam's culture, history, architecture, and food. Anika was a fabulous guide. The food was diverse and tasty. The tour is 4 + hours so be prepared to do a lot of walking. The food is plentiful so pace yourself. Note that the tour does not end at the same place it started.
The tour guide was fantastic and we learned a lot about the city. But, most of the bites were small (not worth $95+ for sure) and the food was shared so better to go in a group. Less of a food tour, more of a walking tour. There was no watertaxi ride, maybe because it was chilly out. Also, we only got one drink not 2 like it said in the description. Tour guide rating: 5/5 Actual tour: 3/5
Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about his city. We actually had 6 small bites instead of 4
Very enjoyable walking food tour in Rotterdam. Our group size was ten guests with Astrid as our guide. She was excellent at sharing her knowledge of the area and the bites and drinks were enjoyable. We can recommend this tour to you,.
Really enjoyed this experience. Our guide Bram was friendly and very knowledgeable and although you walk quite a distance, it is all very comfortable, easy walking. The food tastings are generous and plentiful so you definitely won’t be eating a meal anytime soon after. A great way to see the city and try different foods and eateries.
Such a good trip…educational, insightful, and relaxed. Saw and heard about Rotterdam, eating lots of snacks. Plenty food, plenty drinks and Ugo was great x
I had a free day to explore while my husband was in business meetings. This was a nice way to spend the afternoon and learn more about the city’s history as well as try out different foods. Thoroughly enjoyed. Got out of my comfort zone and tried herring.
This tour is a great way to spend time in Rotterdam. More than just about food, we learned a lot from Rob about the history, architecture, and modern life of the city. While not at all rushed, there’s plenty of walking to be able to get to various points of interest. Rob is a great guide and the food was delicious!
Our guide Usha was fantastic and he imparted really enlightening insights into the history and current situation of Rotterdam - the geopolitics, the street art and architecture. The food and beverages were generous and tasty. A really enjoyable afternoon thank you!
We joined Umesh and a small group for today's tour. What a delightful guide to spend a few hours with. He gave an insight to the history and architecture of several buildings and demonstrated the diverse food culture of the city.
A really good walking tour with lots of interesting facts about the City. Hugo was a great guide who was obviously passionate about his city. The food was also really good and gave us a good understanding of all the nationalities that make up the local people
Astrid was a phenomenal guide. The meeting location was easy to find and the tour started promptly. Our route took us by many interesting areas and sites. Astrid shared the history and stories behind told us the sites bringing them to life for us. The “bites” were very generous portions and included the best fries we have ever eaten, chicken satay or vegetable dumpling, chicken curry or Tahoe sandwich, herring (suprisingly good) and fried cod with a beer, wine, or soda, poffertjes (very yummy!), and Gouda cheese, two vegetarian bitterballen, along with another beer, wine, or soda. We ended the day more knowledgeable about Rotterdam, its history, its ways of co-existing with the sea, and its efforts to be more environmentally friendly and wondering how we could possibly eat dinner after all the food we enjoyed throughout the 4+ hours we spent with Astrid. Make your reservation and request Astrid’s tour—guaranteed you’ll have a fantastic experience!
We had a wonderful tour with Astrid! She was very enthusiastic about Rotterdam and pointed out amazing sites! The food was a perfect sampling of Dutch favorites. We loved it! Definitely was a great time for our first day in Rotterdam!
