Itinerary
Our first stop will be in front of Hotel New York. We will tell about its history and current use. Also from there we will have a great view on the so called 'tornado' which is the new Fenix Museum of Migration.
We will cycle over the Erasmusbrug towards the Maritime District, where we will stop at the Rotterdam War Memorial of WWII. We will talk about the bridge and give a brief history of Rotterdam in relation to WWII.
We will stop in the Shipping Quarter at the fountain that once was in the city centre. This characteristic part of Rotterdam will give you a glimpse of what Rotterdam used to look like before the war.
The so called ‘Museum Quarter’ is a place in Rotterdam where some of the most prominent museums of Rotterdam are based, connected by the Museum park. We will make a stop close to The New Institute looking at the brand new Art Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, one of the latest icons that was added to Rotterdam and the first publicly accessible art depot in the world! Already getting excited?
There will be an opportunity for a 15–20 minute break at one of Rotterdam’s oldest shopping streets, De Oude Binnenweg. The duration of the break depends on the size and needs of the group and can be adjusted on the spot. During the break, we can either stay together at a coffee bar or you may choose to wander around and explore on your own. This moment is ideal for socialising, getting recommendations, warming up, cooling down, or simply using the restroom. Please note that beverages are not included.
Our final stop before bringing back the bikes will be in front of the historical city hall of Rotterdam.
We will stop closeby at the square in front of the St. Lawrence Church.
The yellow Cube Houses might be one of the most famous sightseeing locations in the city. We will stand in front, talk about the history and take photos.
The Market Hall (2014) made Rotterdam extra famous and is a modern indoor market with lots of food and colours! We also call it our modern Sistine Chapel and you will find out why!
We will cycle further towards the Kings Harbour Bridge, where we will make a stop and dive into its history!

Elmer was a friendly and informative guide. It was a great way to explore the city. The cycle lanes felt safe.
What a great way to see the sites and find out about the history of Rotterdam. Elmer is am excellent guide: very engaging, friendly and knowledgeable. Tip: you can easily get a tram to the starting point if you don't want to walk there. I would highly recommend this tour!
Very good guide. Knowledgeable and interesting. Bikes were in perfect condition.
I am a german speaker and i had a fantastic time on the bike tour with Elmer! 🚲 The tour was a great way to discover Rotterdam. Elmer was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. He shared lots of interesting stories and local insights, and it really felt like exploring the city with a local rather than simply following a standard sightseeing tour. The equipment was absolutely fine as well, including the helmets and the yellow bikes. I also really liked the way the bike workshop was set up. It had a very welcoming and pleasant atmosphere, with lots of lovely little details that made the place feel personal and authentic. There is even a small bicycle museum inside, which I thought was a really nice touch. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rotterdam, especially if you want to experience the city by bike and get some genuine local tips along the way. Thanks again, Elmer, for the great tour and also for the great conversation afterwards! I really appreciated it. Highly recommended! 😊🚲
Outstanding experience all around. Elmer was a very helpful and knowledgeable guide, extremely easy to speak with, and provided excellent service.
We had a really great time, lovely guide and would highly recommend! Good value for money for three hours, small group size and we saw all the main sights - toilets available at start and finish and a stop half way through to try out the market!
Elmer was a great guide, very knowledgeable of the history of Rotterdam! Highly recommend! I was the only client for the tour and was so grateful that he didn’t cancel due to not enough participants
It was a really special cycling tour, because the guide, named Elmer, is connected to Rotterdam with his heart and this is what he transfers to his tour members. So you'll get a very different and diverse view to Rotterdam and get knowledge about the history, art, education and way of life. I had an very interesting and very funny time on this tour. And now I love Rotterdam. Thank you Elmer
Very knowledgeable and friendly guide, nice route, good bikes. I enjoyed the tour and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to discover Rotterdam on a bike.
We had such a wonderful experience on this bike tour! We traveled from the U.S. to Holland with our family to share our Dutch heritage with our children, and exploring Rotterdam by bike ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We had a fairly large group, and they went above and beyond to accommodate all of us, including my daughter and her service dog. Everything was handled so easily and graciously, which we really appreciated. Our guide, Elmer, was knowledgeable, personable, and fun. We saw so much of Rotterdam, learned about its history and culture, and got to experience the city the way so many locals do—on two wheels. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rotterdam. It was a memorable part of a very meaningful family trip and an experience we’re so glad we included!!
Very knowledgeable guide. He took care to make sure the other couple, who did not have much cycling experience, were safe and comfortable to navigate the busy city. We learnt a lot about the history and future plans for the city. Highly recommended.
A wonderful bike tour of Rotterdam with Elmer, a personable local who loves introducing people to his city. This is a comprehensive tour of over three hours that gives you the opportunity to get to know the city in depth in a way a bus tour doesn't. Elmer was patient and accommodating, taking time to answer questions and customize the tour to our interests. He clearly enjoys what he does. We had a great time.
An amazing bike tour around the city of Rotterdam with a very knowledge and fun tour guide! Learned all about the history, culture, and architecture of the city. And the guide was kind enough to point out some local spots for excellent food/drinks as well as other fun activities to do in the city. Would highly recommend!
Biking through Rotterdam gave me the time to see multiple areas of the city. Elmer took the time at each location to provide historical background and the story behind them. The cycling was easily manageable for any level of experience. This tour was interesting and enjoyable. I would recommend booking with Elmer as he was very engaging and gave us the opportunity to ask questions. He provided more than a summary of each location.
This is a great way to discover this marvelous city and its history. Elmer is a thorough and considerate guide.
My mum & I as part of our 5 day trip to The Hague wanted to experience a guided tour bike ride in Rotterdam. Elmer was available and he offered us a private tour at no extra fee. Elmer was very thorough to check the bikes tyres were inflated & we were happy with the seat heights. We agreed not to go too fast as we were cycling near main roads. Elmer explained the route we would take & what we would see. We stopped at several points so he could give us the history at that given site. Elmer is fluent in english, and he always gave clear hand signals as to which way we were going. A great 2 hours experience and Elmer is not only an excellent tour guide, but a thoroughly nice person and we would recommend him to anyone of all ages!
This bicycle tour is a great way to see the heart of Rotterdam, and Elmo is a fantastic guide full of knowledge and love for his city. The trip includes many stops to stretch your legs so you are not sitting on the bike for long periods. The bike lanes in Rotterdam are well marked and smooth, with every intersection having signals just for bikes alone. Note that we used pedal bikes (not e-bikes), but we are in our mid-60’s and had no problems. I highly recommend Elmo and this tour for a great experience!
Elmer is passionate about the city he grew up in. Rotterdam has seen dramatic change over its history. He has selected wonderful locations and topics. He tells Rotterdam's history in a personal way, not leaving out many of the ugly truths behind why things are the way they are. But above all, his optimism for the living experiment that is his growing, dynamic city shines through in his tour. This isn't a college kid who memorized some facts (although that kind of tour can be fun, too!). It's a good guy who found a way to share his knowledge and love of his home for a living. Bravo, Elmer!
The guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. I had a great time and it was such a good way to learn a lot more about the city in only a few hours! I would really recommend it!
Lovely tour across the city of Rotterdam on a bicycle, the Dutch way! Very interesting places, excellently described by our guide Elmer - he was fantastic. Overall, a great and fun experience 👍🏼
The bike tour was an excellent experience. Elmer is a friendly and flexible guide. He shares things about the city that you won’t find in written guides. I definitely recommend choosing this activity. In three hours, Elmer takes you through all the main and important sights of Rotterdam. The ride is not demanding — it’s pleasant. With this tour, you also get to experience the true Dutch urban cycling vibe.
Great Visit! Elmer is a passionate and enthousiast guide, it was a real pleasure to discover this exciting city through its history, architecture and urbanism. If you have only one thing to do in Roterrdam, it's definetely the cycling guided tour!
Fantastic tour, great bikes, super guide with lots of interesting facts . Highly recommend this tour to get some amazing knowledge on Rotterdam
Hans was a really good guide. Very knowledgeable about Rotterdam. Interesting stops. Bikes quite good for city touring. Rotterdam is quite bike-friendly- more so than Amsterdam!
Elmer was wonderful. He was friendly and knowledgeable. The bikes were comfortable and easy to use. I would recommend his tour to everyone.
Elmer was an extremely knowledgeable and attentive tour guide. He ensured I had detailed instructions to get to the starting location. When I got there he made sure the bike fit and I had a helmet so I felt safe and comfortable. Elmer took me all through Rotterdam telling me interesting things about its history, charm, and significance. He showed me Rotterdam through a local’s eyes and of course made sure we saw all the places of interest, but also showed me places I would never have found on my own. Elmer made it fun and personalized. When we come back we will book another tour with Elmer. After the tour he let me know what we didn’t get to and created another tour for me. It was amazing. Thanks Elmer
Great tour! The guides (we had two, one was training and they were the partners in this company. The one training does the walking tours.) Their English Dutch guides spoke very fluent English. The 7 speed bikes were well maintained and shifted cleanly. My wife said the seat was very comfortable. The tour stops were interesting highlights of Rotterdam but disappointingly skipped Delfshaven the part of the old city that was spared the Nazis bombing of WWII. The one “rest stop” was at a nice cafe that employs former prison inmates. We are glad we got to see the city our first day here. I highly recommend this company.
Yesterday we had a super fun bike tour in Rotterdam with the family and Elmer of Rottourdam. Elmer told us many fun facts about Rotterdam and showed us many beautiful architecture and places in Rotterdam. There was plenty of room to ask questions by our 9 year old daughter, which were answered with great pleasure. This bike tour is highly recommended, starting with a nice cup of coffee at the Belvedere Story House on the Kaap.
This was one of the best bike tour experiences I had until now . Great guide , full of positive energy , totally recommended !
Excellent day with Elmer, who was very knowledgable and most important for us, looked out for our safety. We felt very secure and well informed. There was no time watching pressure, and we felt relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed Elmer‘s company. Very professional!
Elmer was an awesome guide. He made sure we were ok on our bikes. He stopped enough time to give us breaks on the bike. He gave told us interesting events and things that happened around Rotterdam. He was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed his company.
I walked easily from my cruise ship to the meet pointin Rotterdam. With Albert as our guide, no aspect was missing. He brought us into many cultural and historical insights of the fantastic city. It was about 20 miles of city biking at a leisurely pace. Just brief stops and then on, stopping only for beer and coffee etc Help Albert built his small business. Great Guide!
I’m not much of a cyclist, but I decided to try this bike tour with Rottourdam, and it was totally worth it. Elmer, our guide, was super friendly and knew a lot about Rotterdam. The Yellow Cube Houses were such a cool stop, and I loved to cycle over the Erasmus Bridge. Quick suggestion, it would have been great if we would have been provided with a little snack for extra energy, maybe a stroopwafle :). Overall, the cycle tour was an awesome way to explore the city. Highly recommend!
A very friendly and competent tour for three with a nice break and many tips and background information, highly recommended. Parking is easy (ticket at the machine).
What a beautiful afternoon with so much information from Elmar. We enjoyed it from beginning to end. Even deviated from the route to show us the city hall and the koopgoot. Elmar has a lot of knowledge and enthusiasm. Thanks, these two Frisians enjoyed it.
The best way to get to know the center of Rotterdam in 3 hours with a wonderful guide like Elmer. The bikes are comfortable and easy to ride. I highly recommend it
Truly a beautiful experience. Beautiful and easy hike with a very good guide. Excellent way to see the essentials of the city when you have little time.
Our guide Elmer was super enthusiastic, he has a lot of knowledge and turned out to be a nice talker. A true Rotterdammer with the accompanying humour. A top experience! Jos & Ruth and Koen & Sophie
This was a wonderful city bike tour with Elmer...curious, funny with very nice hot spots and information about the city. A very good mix of information, breaks and photo tops. Be sure to do this tour 🙂🚲🌇
Super fun and informative bike tour done. Guide Elmer is very enthusiastic and knows a lot about the highlights and history of Rotterdam. We have explored the center and katendrecht well and know where we need to be for the rest of our visit to Rotterdam. Great!
Seriousness with the schedule, bikes in good condition, friendliness and precise and enjoyable explanations. We loved the tour and recommended it.
For us it was the perfect trip to get to know Rotterdam. Three hours we were traveling with the super nice and prudent guide. There was a good safety briefing regarding traffic behaviour. The guide made sure everyone came along well, because there were also inexperienced cyclists. The pace was pleasant. The guide spoke in impeccable English and was very easy to understand. We often stopped to listen to his stories about Rotterdam, which were funny, interesting and entertaining. It was really worth it and the trip gets the full score with me. It couldn't be better! There was also a possibility to go to the toilet in between. Everything was thought of! Finally, he gave us - at our question - several restaurants near our hotel, where we could eat delicious in the evening. A perfect day!
The bike tour through Rotterdam was a really nice experience. In about three hours we cycled through the city in a relaxed way – as a circular tour with stops at many well-known places such as the Erasmusbrug, the Boijmans Van Beuningen depot, the cube flats, the district around Markthal, Koninginneburg and even at Stadhuis. The paths were well developed throughout, the weather was perfect, and it was pleasantly quiet on the roads – ideal for a relaxed ride. Our small group made the whole thing even more enjoyable. Big praise also to our tour guide Elmer – a very cool guy who explained everything with a pleasant mixture of knowledge and humor. His way of telling was exciting and never boring. The break in a café was particularly nice, where we chatted comfortably. Food could be eaten whenever and wherever you wanted – it was all very easy and casual. I would definitely recommend the tour – especially to friends who like to be active and want to learn about the city at the same time. Next time I would choose a combination of walking and cycling so that you can try something in places like Markthal or take a bit longer to look around. All in all: super relaxing, informative and simply a great way to discover Rotterdam – especially with a guide like Elmer!
We had a great, informative and interesting bike ride today, which gave us a good overview of the city. We were fortunate that the tour was carried out, even though we were only 2 people. The guide was super friendly! Care has always been taken that we can follow. We can recommend everyone the bike ride!
We booked the bike ride and were thrilled. So much information about the origin of Rotterdam. Our guide ... a super nice competent guy! It was fun!!!
