The Fletcher Boutique Hotel Slaak-Rotterdam is a classic case of style over substance. On the surface, the hotel is stunning. It is housed in a beautifully restored, historic former newspaper press building, and the 1950s retro-modern design is incredibly cool, sleek, and photogenic. The staff are welcoming, and the neighborhood vibe is great. However, once you actually live in the room for a couple of days, the highly unconventional and bizarre design flaws start to wear thin. Two specific layout choices made the stay far more awkward than it needed to be: The Unconventional Bed: First off, the bed width is incredibly unusual. It doesn't follow standard sizing, which makes for a bit of an adjustment. If you are used to a typical, predictable layout, the proportions here feel oddly constrained and take some getting used to. The Toilet/Sink Logistical Nightmare: The biggest design failure by far is the bathroom setup. The toilet is located in its own separate, small water closet, but there is no sink basin inside to wash your hands. Once you finish using the restroom, you literally have to open the door with unwashed hands, walk all the way to the completely opposite end of the room where the main vanity sink is located, just to wash your hands. It is an incredibly odd, unhygienic, and frustrating layout choice that completely defies common sense. It feels like the designers were so focused on making the room look like a trendy boutique showroom that they forgot how actual humans use a hotel room.
I had such a lovely stay at this hotel and I truly want to thank the entire team for making it such a great experience. From the moment I arrived, everyone was welcoming, kind, and always ready to help. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and it really made a difference. The room was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. Every detail was taken care of, which made my stay even more enjoyable. A big thank you to everyone working there for your professionalism and kindness. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay.
Incredible value for money hotel. Beautiful interiors, spacious rooms, and vibey bar/lounge. We had a great stay with our 6 month old baby and the hotel was accommodating in provided a cot. We found the lunch/small bites menu delicious and the bar was a great place to hang out and invite friends over to. Small downsides: The breakfast was quite expensive (€20 if I remember correctly?) for a very limited amount of breakfast options with machine coffee. We also did experience a staff member of the hotel walking into our room after we had checked into the room while we were asleep during the afternoon which gave us quite the scare.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Fletcher Boutique Hotel Slaak-Rotterdam! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the stylish design, comfortable atmosphere, and excellent service. A special highlight of our visit was the warm welcome we received from the lovely Greek lady at reception. She greeted us with genuine hospitality, made us feel right at home, and went above and beyond to help us throughout our stay. She answered all of our questions with patience and kindness, and even gave us fantastic recommendations for local attractions and restaurants — every suggestion she gave was spot on! The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, and the location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the vibrant city of Rotterdam. We truly appreciated the personal touch and high level of service that made our experience so memorable. Thank you for making our stay so special;)
