A great experience to stay here. Note that it is a ship (Holland to New york line), and hence, don't expect a five star like rooms. Get a room that has a window. Breakfast was average with limited options. Good experience to stay in deck, see Rotterdam under lights, and dine.
They have free shuttle until evening to the nearest metro. There is a bus as well, every 10-20 mins. They also book water taxi and one can board directly from the ship (5 euro pp).
Stay for atleast two nights to experience and explore the ship.
What a great experience. All the luxuries and fun of a cruise ship without leaving into the vast ocean. If you want to just quickly experience how it feels this is a great simulation.
It gets very packed though so if you do book yourself in make sure to book the meals too else you'll have be playing with chance. But there are loads of great food nearby
Staying on a historic 1950s ocean liner is an unforgettable experience. The retro mid-century decor and authentic atmosphere are very unique.
The cabins surprisingly spacious and clean.
The breakfast buffet is excellent, and the deck bars/restaurants offer great views.
The location is a bit isolated from the city center (though water taxis and hotel shuttles help).
Absolutely fantastic place! Be on a cruise without being on a cruise! Great idea really! My and my wife loved the 70s vibes with modern facilities. There's also a dedicated stop for the water taxi. The location is not the best as you are on a peninsula with nothing around you but it's not too hard to move around with a bus and water taxi stops nearby. There's a lot to do and see on the ship too and just that can easily take a day of your stay in Rotterdam. Also it's not as expensive as you might think and the rooms are spacious and really have all you need inside and look like you're really in a ship cabin. I recommend the slightly more expensive rooms with the oblo windows as they add a lot of charm to it. Overall the best hotel I have been to since I'm in the NL by far. The staff are also efficient and kind and they speak English.
Our stay at the SS Rotterdam was absolutely unforgettable. Sleeping on such a historic and beautifully preserved ship is a truly unique experience. The combination of classic elegance and modern comfort makes this hotel stand out from any ordinary accommodation.
The rooms were spotless, stylish, and very comfortable, while the atmosphere throughout the ship reflects its rich maritime history. Walking through the decks felt like stepping back into the golden age of ocean travel.
The staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and always willing to help. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of fresh options, and the views over Rotterdam’s skyline were simply stunning.
The location is also perfect — peaceful, yet still well connected to the city center. Whether you are interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a special place to stay, the SS Rotterdam is highly recommended.
We would definitely come back again. A five-star experience from start to finish!
