We had an excellent stay at Hideaway Lodge in Rotorua. It is a beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing place, perfect for family. Our children loved seeing the llamas, sheep, and rabbits, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The location is quiet while still being close to Rotorua’s main attractions. Our accommodation was spotless, very clean, and well equipped with a practical kitchenette. The service was excellent, especially the laundry service, which was greatly appreciated during our trip. We also received a very warm welcome upon our arrival, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We highly recommend Hideaway Lodge to families. We would definitely love to come back!

A lovely place to stay. The scenery and the alpacas are worth the experience. The staff go beyond the call of duty to help. The location is only 10 minutes to city centre.
They are renovating but our room was old, bathroom was mouldy, the cleaning product scent was overpowering, the windows were open by staff which created a bug infestation in the main room with the kids beds. Windows were extremely difficult to close. Bug spray was provided to kill a the bugs (probably like 100 on the ceiling above the kids beds). This dud eliminate the big problem.. We had no wifi issues. Room was up stairs, so have to lift suitcases. It's good value, great location, alpacas are adorable, new rooms are being built. Staff are lovely, kind, and have great communication. The only fault that I can think of is the dated room and mouldy bathroom.
A very practical place to stay just out of town. It was a surprisingly quiet and sweet stay. The rooms are well equipped and the beds are comfy! The alpacas have large appetites, but its the sheep that seems to have eaten all the food! Feeding the animals gives an extra interest, especially if you have kids with you. The concept must be doing well, as they are expanding. Room 9 is best - 2 bedrooms, one is family room.
Disappointing stay overall. The Wi-Fi was unreliable and frequently cut out, and the room lacked privacy. The room had only two windows — one frosted window was blocked by laundry piled up outside the entire stay, and the other faced the parking lot where all guests drive/walk past. The room felt poorly designed and maintained, with no proper shower storage, a very small shower where I hit my head, a loud/whiny toilet, dust in the vent, and cheap flooring that didn’t feel clean to walk on barefoot. One side of the bed had no power outlet. The photo of the bed is how it looked after housekeeping made it after our first night. It was quite sloppy. Note that this is not really an alpaca farm, just a motel with a small alpaca pen in the middle. The location is a 10 minute drive from the downtown area and all the other hotels and restaurants, so it wasn't very conveniently located. Guest laundry was advertised but essentially unusable due to limited hours and being shared with housekeeping. There was ongoing construction with a makeshift office, and check-in was disorganized. Overall, the place felt unfinished and not as advertised given that Google Maps labels this as a 4 star hotel.
