Antonia is the best. So informative and knowledgeable and pleasant. The tour helped us find our way around afterwards. Highly recommended.

Itinerary
You will learn about: * The life in the medieval Rothenburg as a free imperial city * How Bürgermeister Heinrich Toppler transformed this town into one of the most important cities in the area * The very strict urban conservation orders from Rothenburg * The story of the Town Hall and its tower * The Master-Builder's House with its stone sculptures with the seven virtues and seven deadly sins * How Walt Disney’s “Pinocchio” was influenced by sketches of Rothenburg ob der Tauber * The "Master draught" story You will see: * The Market Square * The Town Hall Tower * Baumeisterhaus (Master-Builder's House) * Marienapotheke (St. Mary's Pharmacy) * The Medieval Crime and Punishment Museum * The Plönlein, considered to be one of the most photographed spots in Germany * The Town Wall * Church of St. James The Market Square is the center of urban life in Rothenburg and also the place where some of the most important tourist attractions can be admired like the Town Hall, the Councillors' Tavern and St. George's Fountain. If you are up to it, climb up the 50m Town Hall Tower (tickets not included and based on availability) for some special views and good photo opportunity and listen to the story of the Town Hall Renaissance building from the 16th century. Do not miss the Master-Builder's House, one of the “loveliest renaissance house in Rothenburg” with its stone sculptures with the seven virtues and seven deadly sins. Close is also the Marienapotheke, a 15th century mansion built by Mayor Jagstheimer. South of the Market Square we will see the Medieval Crime and Punishment Museum, dedicated to torture tools and equipment and not for the faint-hearted. Then we pass the famous Plönlein (Flat Square), a road crossing found in all travel books of Germany. The triangular square formed by the roads is present in pop culture, history and in your memory forever. The wall around the Old Town creates a head-shaped figure on the outskirts of the old town. For a good view over the city, we will also climb it. Now to forget is also the Church of St. James, with its ”The Last Supper” masterpiece of Tilman Riemenschneider. This is the only protestant church that has a roman-catholic relic in Germany. End your tour in the Old Town and enjoy a leisurely walk on your own through the narrow streets or just enjoy a local beer and some traditional dishes in one of the historical buildings close by.

The tour was fantastic and our tour guide was very knowledgeable on the history of the town and Europe. We loved this tour!
Our guide was very knowledgeable, passionate about his topic, and shared countless interesting insights to the sites he showed us in Rothenburg and the history of the city. Truly enjoyed the tour!
Our guide, Antonio, was extremely knowledgeable about the city and its history. We were fascinated with her stories and found her style very enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour.
Georg was absolutely amazing! He knew everything to know about the old town. His presentation was thought invoking and detailed in all the right ways. He really knew the town and it's history. If I could bring him with me all across Germany I would!
Great tour! We had a great time walking around Rothenburg with our tour guide, Antonia. We learned a lot about the town and its history! Highly recommend.
The town is so charming, but we had a very difficult time understanding our guide. We did the “Night watchman Tour” the next day, and our guide pretty much copied everything the night watchman said, except we could understand the night watchman…and then it all made sense. So basically…spend €9/eXh and go hear the night watchman at 8:00 pm at the St George Fountain. You’re welcome!
Camilla was a charming and informative guide. We learned quite a lot about the history of the walled city.
Antonia was an amazing guide … She was so knowledgeable but even more she was a warm and delightful companion.
Our guide in Rothenburg ob der Tauber was exceptional! He shared the history and legends of the town, and entertained us in the process.
Antonia was so sweet and so knowledgeable. It is such a charming little village, so much to see and enjoy.
We did a private walking tour of Rothenburg with Antonia. She was incredibly nice and very knowledgable. We had an amazing time!
Family trip and tour of the area. Great length of tour. Saw most of the city and figured out what additional things we wanted to do after tour.
Interesting, although to short for the cost. The tour should include entrance into the church and more information on the city itself.
As part of our Viking River Cruise we visited Rothenburg, a medieval walled city in Bavaria. It is one of the most scenic places on the planet- from its wall, gates, guard houses, businesses, churches, etc. It was a "bucket list " place to visit for me and I loved the entire experience. There are many great bakeries and restaurants where you can obtain authentic German foods.
Very informative & knowledgeable guide, covered a variety of history of Rothenburg. She showed us lots of other options we could take that might be of interest, which most we did end up doing.
This was a fantastic experience through and through. From the historical background that was provided to the spots we visited, it was all perfect. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of our guide but he was amazing and went above and beyond to ensure that our needs were met including recommendations for restaurants, best ice cream and other spots to visit that were not on our tour. Would highly recommend this to anyone interested in a tour during their time in Rothenburg.
Our tour guide was fantastic!!! She was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We were delighted with every aspect of our tour. We would recommend our guide to anyone wanting to see Rothenburg on der Tauber.
Camilla was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, and made it very interesting. Many things were presented that i knew nothing about previously. The only thing missing was actually walking the wall, but she described much of it and said it wasn't part of the tour, so we did it immediately after the tour. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour, especially if Camilla gives it! Photos are; from tour, then us in the exact spot 25 years earlier.
The tour guide gave useful and interesting information. She was nice and talkative. My only critic is that she seems like she was performing in a theater all the time.
The whole city is beautiful, as well as its history. Antonia our guide is very well informed and the way she does it, is excellent.
Our guide Antonia was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and took her time at the places that interested us the most. The history of Rothenburg is fascinating and the tour was very helpful to understand it. Totally recommend the private tour.
It was a great a walking tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and super friendly. Highly recommend seeing this beautiful town.
Our tour guide showed us many things and had good information that kept everyone’s interest. My favorite was the church and the area of the old castle
Antonia lead us on a wonderful tour of this beautiful town. She was very knowledgeable about the town and it’s history. And she gave us some great tips on other fun things to do with the rest of our time.
Enjoyed a intimate private evening walking tour with Brigit. A local who is not only proud of her hometown, but knowledgeable of the centuries of history that encompasses Rothenberg OT. I have been to this town five times previous and I thought I knew a lot. My walk with Brigit showed I have much more to learn. My tour was late to enter any of the key sites, but I still enjoyed the stories and the architectural descriptions. My one criticism is not related to the tour, but with the Viator App. It allows you to book this tour as late as 8PM. Turns out that is not the case. I selected that bookable slot, anticipating having dinner first then taking a late train after the tour. After a few calls with the tour operators I managed to adjust my plans and book this tour at a feasible time.
Fantastic place. Beautiful buildings and great shops. Recommend Altes Brauhaus hotel. My granddaughter really enjoyed the Christmas shop.
We loved our tour with Camilla! She was very knowledgeable and her delivery extremely engaging! The whole family walked away with an understanding of the history and culture of Rothenberg.
The room was quite large. Breakfast was very nice. Excellent location. Close to the market square but not noisy. Excellent parking scenario. Don't miss the night watchman's tour.
Rothemburg was a stopover for us but conscious because we had been there before. Rothemburg is amazing! It is not big but every corner and street is authentic and very atmospheric. The two Christmas shops of Käthe Wolforth is a must to go inside. You can eat and drink everywhere. Are you around then definitely do. 2 days stay is more than sufficient.
This city tour (with a very nice tour guide) should be an absolute must for every visitor to this delightful city. Not only are you pointed out to many of the landmarks, but you also get a lot of information that is not found in the printed guidebook. You are also pointed out a lot of things that you can visit on your own later. Highly recommended!
ROT has a magnificent old town, you get an insight into the Middle Ages. The walkable city walls (without entrance! ) are great. During a city tour with Elena ( 11:00 am in front of the town hall. 8€/P ) became one as life used to be.
