We ended up with a private tour. Our guide was great. Be prepared for a serious climb. But worth the work! Great views!

This was amazing our guide Valerio was so knowledgeable and spoke excellent English as Catholics he made this tour extra special and knew so much history behind it going above and beyond to ensure we saw everything he was very friendly he knew most of the Vatican staff so getting up close was extra special including skipping a few lines highly recommend this guide and their tours thank you for a great experience
This tour vender was not organized. They closed down and told us to GET IN LINE NEXT TO THE WALL!! 2 hours later we were told to go to the r d of the line. We went back to the meeting place and there was a guide there who was helping out. He took our tour in a different line and said we would move quickly because we were with a guide. It took 11/2 hrs. By then it was 5 pm. We were u able to go to the top of the dome and were unable to go to the crypts
My husband and I were very happy with the tour. Valerio was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information. Highly recommended to join the tour.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the Papel tombs and St. Peters Basilica were amazing. The only downside was that we spent too long in St. Peters Square due to prayers inside the Basilica so found it a bit rushed and missed the Dome Climb due to another booking.
Tour does not start at advertised time. We scheduled this tour at 3 pm since we had another tour scheduled at 5 for the Sistine Chappel. Others were being sold this tour to start 1/2 hour later. Thus we only got a tour to the first balcony. Countdown not walk up the steps, no time. We had to take off from the tour just to see the inside of St. Peter’s by ourselves. Never did make it to the papal tombs….this was a waste of our time and money..
It was a really good time. Guide Valerio was very good and helpfull; he is so very dedicated; important informations, nice presentation! Also, he manage to facilitate us a good visit. It is much better to have a guide when visit!
Never happened it got canceled and I’m going to need to get a refund because I didn’t get the service
My wife and I got very lucky and we were the only ones in this tour. The guide was very nice and gave us history and facts non stop. He was great. This tour though is not a skip the line tour, you stand in line with the guide. The guide though talks the whole time so we found it to be enjoyable. The top of the dome Was very good and afterwards the guide took us into the church and walked us around somewhat quickly on what I would all a highlight tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
We had an amazing tour! From start to finish just taking everything in and learning about the history of these places was such a great experience.
Very memorable trip! GO EARLY! Without a skip the line ticket even with a guide, the line would have been unbearable at we not done the 7:30. Our guide gave interesting facts. I’d recommend looking things up before you go if you like history. There is so much information coming at you (which is so great for the best understanding) but had i known some things before i could have connected dots easier. Overall a must especially if you have a love for Peter! To visit where he died was emotional. To think about his declaration of Jesus to the end was just awe inspiring.
Fantastic guide, very knowledgeable, although we had to wait for security checks, it went fast due to him pointing out interesting facts. A lovely experience to get up early in Rome, walk the streets and then being captivated by this amazingly beautiful historical site. The group was 10, which is also great. Can highly recommend this. And again, the guide was very good. Thx a million!
Our tour guide, Virginia, was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and her sense of humor made the tour even better.
Taking the elevator + 320 steps to get to the top of the dome was all worth it. We got to see the bird’s eye view of St. Peter’s Basilica square. The tour guide was great. She was very knowledgeable.
Our tour started at 0730 and was perfect to beat the crowds. Our guide was very informative. The length of time was perfect and glad we did it early morning to avoid the hot sun. There are over 300 stairs that wind and tilt which we found fun but I would make sure you take plenty of water and comfortable shoes. But the view is amazing! So worth it. After the done climb the tour ended and we had as long as we wanted to explore the basilica and papal tombs. As we went on Sunday we were able to be present for mass also. Highly recommend this tour for the dome climb and access to the basilica.
The dome was closed as we arrived to the Vatican steps so we were unable to do much of anything that morning. The basilica was occupied by mass. We were unable to see anything but the exterior and the interior briefly as mass was starting. We missed the dome, la pieta, really everything we were looking forward too. Was told to email the company for a partial refund.
Got to the meeting point, got headphones, checked in and everything… we’re stood waiting 15mins past scheduled leaving time for the tour to be informed our guide simply wasn’t coming. This led to us not having a tour at all and no other alternatives for us to be able to last minute book due to finding out after when the tour was meant to even happen and it being peak season. They should obviously have guides show up when people take time to research and book with a company, trusting it will happen but when you travel all the way to Rome with excitement to see something and they provide no tour, back up guides, alternatives, it’s just unacceptable. Sad and disappointed.
Great view from the top of the dome which was worth taking stairs. It was not skip-the-line entrance, and had to queue with others to get in. Thanks to early morning, waiting time was not so bad but I feel we could have arranged this whole tour by ourselves due to the tour guide not as entertaining or knowledgeable as other guides we met.
Great tour. Ignacio was a nice guy. Long line at Vaticant to go through security but Ignacio gave a lot of info during the wait.
Alec is THE BEST!! Knowledgeable+enthusiastic about our tour, Roman artists (Bernini), and made for a wonderful adventure!! TY to Dimitri with the lively Tommy Hilfiger watch 😉, who did splendid coordinating this event. Grazie, Christine
Early arrival was great idea! When we left Basilica, the line in front was soooo long so I would recommend this time of a day. Our guide (Serena) was excellent. She spoke good English and information were very interesting. Also, group was very small which is a big plus. I believe that a guide is a must when visiting Basilica and Dome!
Excellent tour with Selena, very detailed description of Saint Peter dome, with interesting details. Interested in all part of tour.
our guide was knowledgeable and humorous. we saw all the good stuff w very little wait/line. she was patient with those who took more time to climb the steps to the duomo. fun!
DO THE EARLY BIRD TOUR! I know the thought of waking up early during holiday in Italy sounds like a drag but this is SO worth it! A LOT less crowds! Our guide was so engaging and sweet! We are not Catholic but she gave us such an intimate & spiritual experience every step of the way! Would do it again 100%!
Everything went well. The meeting point was easy to find. The tour guide told us a lot about the history of St. Peter's Basilica. Quick access to St. Peter's Basilica is relative...it can take some time at the security check. Once you were through that, things moved along more quickly.
Overall, the visit was good. The only negative thing was that the guide Giny did not take into account that she was visiting the most important site for Catholics - including those of us who were on the tour - and made offensive comments about the Church and the Catholic religion. I do not intend to restrict your freedom of expression, but if you want to follow that line of discourse you should let us know so that those of us who do not agree can book another tour.
The guide named Virginia made anti-Catholic jokes and encouraged non-Catholic visitors to mock the belief and rituals. It was unpleasant for us who are believers (we are far from being very Catholic) I imagine that for someone Catholic the experience would be horrible.
