I purchased the Italia Pass which included discount for multiple tours offered be Italia tours. Nadia our guide for the Vatican museum tour was very informative and energetic. She was vey knowledgeable and seemed very excited about her job. Our family loved the experience. I would highly recommend Italia tours and purchasing the Italia pass for great saving in Rome, Florence and Venice. Thanks

Tour guide was very knowledgeable; art and architecture were amazing. It was unbelievably hot. No a/c, no water, very crowded. Lots of walking including many stairs, which is fine if you have no disabilities but not if you do.
Excellent tour guide (Maximo) was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. He made our experience all the our enjoyable. Very smooth booking process and would definitely use again.
Very good tour with Nadia. High season for tours meant lots of quick walking, but excellent comments along the way. Stopped at most important exhibits. Excellent pre-talk about Sistine Chaple at displays in garden at beginning of the tour. Really gave us the info on where and how to look at Michelangelo’s masterpieces. Thank you.
Great tour. We didn’t want to spend all day here. We just wanted a short tour since this isn’t necessarily our cup of tea. But we figured it was a must see. The tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Massimo was awesome. He made the tour enjoyable, fun and all around excellent. We learned so much about the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. I would highly recommend booking a tour with Massimo.
We had an excellent tour guide, Nadya. She was very knowledgeable and informative. She kept the group together very well for being as crowded as it was. We got to see highlights of the different museum artifacts and art. The Sistine Chapel was amazing. The tour also included entrance to St. Peter’s basilica. There is a lot of walking so be prepared when you go with good walking shoes.
Our tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel was excellent! Chiara, our guide, was amazing. She is articulate, witty, entertaining, and deeply knowledgeable. If you can imagine leading and inspiring, not merely holding together, a sundry group of tourists, some from Alabama, some from California, some from Massachusetts, some from Bristol, and some from Yorkshire, and with some of us being just a bit on the senior side, all within a meandering crowd of thousands of other tourists, and managing this with grace and kindness, stopping to explain and take questions throughout the museum, all the while keeping everyone happy, then you begin to get the picture. Libby and I would follow Chiara anywhere!
Nadya was an amazing tour guide with Italia Tours. Highly recommend her. she is gracious, very experienced and knows her stuff!
This was a great way to see the highlights of the museum, Sistene Chapel & Basilica. Our guide Chiara did an amazing job informing us of all the history while keeping a great pace. Would recommend to everyone! Ask for Chiara!
Tour guide was late. Some info was incorrect. Nothing fast about anything she did that day. We left the tour after an hour and went on our own. Saw the Sistine chapel and went to the Vatican where the pope was speaking that day. An amazing experience was only had because we left this tour. Waste of money
We couldn’t understand the guide. We speak English and although she was her Italian accent made it impossible to understand.
The ticket information stated for us to arrive no later than 8:45. However, when we arrived at 8:35, the office door was padlocked shut. An employee arrived at little after 8:45 to open the business. While not a dealbreaker, it was a bit disconcerting for those of us waiting outside. This tour is split into 2 parts: Vatican in the AM, Center city Roma in PM. Vatican Tour- my husband and I would rate this part of the experience with 3 stars. We stood in one place for extended periods of time listening to the guide. The pace was quite slow. While informative, the tour guide often had a negative tone. She shared multiple negative personal interactions she experienced with previous guests. The Vatican is so big and full of history, however, is was difficult with so many people in each small/medium sized room when it felt like we weren’t moving. A lot of walking is not bad, but standing in one place for too long in a packed area was uncomfortable for us. Coupled with the negative tone of the guide, we did not enjoy our time at the Vatican. Roma Center City Tour- we would rate this part of the experience with 5 stars. Our guide, Luigi was knowledgeable and personable. He was very conscious of his pacing in terms of when to pause for a break and when to continue on. He consistently called all 9 of his tour guests by name involving everyone in the experience. We highly recommend this portion of the tour. While the guides cannot control the incredible amount of people jammed into the Vatican, we wonder how different our experience would have been with a tour guide like Luigi.
Our guide Paolo was excellent. Paolo was knowledgeable and entertaining with details about the history of everything we saw. We highly recommend the tour and if you can get Paolo you’re in for a treat.
Sandra and Fabio were unbelievably amazing. Both were very knowledgeable, personable, and overall awesome tour guides. We got more than the scheduled tour as they both adapted and adjusted based on our location to offer additional, interesting information. Both took the time to know our group and offer personalized interesting information along the tour. Also got great local recommendations for sightseeing and food!
Francesca was amazing. Her knowledge and love of Rome was phenomenal. We learned so much and absolutely adored Francesca. Thank you!
This was a fantastic tour! Our Guide Paolo for the Vatican was absolutely wonderful and he had so much knowledge . It was a private tour for just the two of us. Later we had Luigi for the Colosseum, Pantheon, Forum and Trevi Fountain. Also very knowledgeable. Only 4 on that tour. Both guides gave us so much information. The only negative was trying to find out guides when you don't know the City and you have to find your own way to the meeting location. But once you connect with the guides, its was 5 stars.
Very enjoyable your. Both of our guides (Paolo and Massimo) were wonderful. I appreciated how many sites we were able to see in the day! It is a long tour so plan to be on your feet much of the day. Highly recommend!!
Sandra made the Vatican and the Colosseum come to life! It was an amazing experience! The small group size made it easier to ask questions.
Wonderful guides Chiara and Adrienne. Both very knowledgeable and easy going. A lot to see but they focus on the key things which makes it interesting. Physically very demanding so recommended average level of fitness.
What a wonderful way to see Rome! Our day was perfect. Paolo was very informative and accommodating. Highly recommend this tour if you have one day in Rome!
This is one of the best ways to see and experience Rome! Our guide Priscilla went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional! We had to travel up from the port on a cruise ship to Rome and they arranged the trip back in a car so we would arrive in time to board the ship before it left. I would say this tour was the highlight of our trip and would highly recommend going with Context Travel. The knowledge and ease of getting around the city was second to none. Priscilla was the best guide and would highly recommend her for your tour!
Luigi, our guide, was one of the best I have ever experienced. He not only explained what you were looking at but he had an uncanny ability to take you back to where you feel like you were actually present when all of this was happening. Simply an amazing experience.
Vatican tour guide was good but didn’t know transportation was not included for other sites. Would not have booked if had known. Expensive taxis and too much free time .
Look, it's simple. You meet them at the Vatican in the morning. They give you a ticket and, shortly, you're inside. You get a headset and a very knowledgable guide. It's crowded but you have the headset and she has an umbrella for you to follow. The Vatican guide knows their stuff. It culminates with a visit to the Sistine Chapel. Then you part ways.. You meet up with another guide at the Roman Coliseum several hours later. And this guide is just as energetic and knowledgeable as the prior guide.
Robert was fantastic. We were very lucky to have him to ourselves all day and he has a wealth of information, and history. My friend and I loved our tour even though weather did not cooperate our tour was amazing.
YOU COME AS A CUSTOMER, YOU LEAVE AS A FRIEND. We would never have thought that this tour “ROME IN A DAY“, would be the highlight of our 7-day trip in Italy. Everything about our experience was too GREAT!!! Our tour was split into two half days, each with a different tour guide, Mr. Robert and Miss Irene Amedeo. Our first half-day tour started outside the most important museum complex in the world- The Vatican Museum (including Sistine Chapel). Our tour guide Robert was very knowledgeable of the Roman history, like he literally knows the story behind every display in the place! On our second day, our tour guide was IRENE AMEDEO and being a local, she showed us much more than we've expected! We began our tour at Rome’s most iconic monument - the Colosseum. With Skip-the-Line access and with everything being well organised, we’ve got to visit many of the main historical landmarks in just half of day. After seeing the legendary Colosseum, she also took us to see the remnants of the other iconic monuments including the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, the Trevi fountain and the admirable baroque Italian art at Piazza Navona! We enjoyed the exclusivity of the tour as this was a semi-private one, so we were lucky we had the chance to see more than what most people did. Places look great at every angle and we were well informed about the beautiful culture and history of ancient ROME! BTW, thank you Miss Irene Amedeo for taking these unforgettable and professional looking shots during our short stay at your lovely place/country! Overall thanks to When in Rome Tours for being such a professional company, esp. for the quick reply even in the middle of the night because we booked just the night before our tour. 12 out of 10!!! Would definitely recommend this to others!
We had such a great time today with our host Robert! He was really nice and really cared about answering our questions about ancient Rome. Definitely a great guide. This is such a great way to explore Rome especially if you are only here for a short time. 100% worth it. Thank you Robert for a great day! :)
Rome has easily become one of my favorite cities because of this tour! Chiara was our tour guide and she was absolutely everything we could have asked for. She was personable, funny, and very informative and made our trip in Rome a great one! We covered everything we wanted to and absolutely got our value out of the trip. Highly recommend!!
This tour was simply amazing. Rome is a gigantic city and so much to manage, this tour does it for you. Chiara was our tour guide and completely defined our experience in Rome. She was upbeat, funny, and knew nearly all 14000 statues in the Vatican. Amazing!
Robert was an amazing guide and full of knowledge! Our group size was small and made it easy for everyone to gather and listen to his insightful facts on the history of Rome. He has been in Rome and touring long enough to know the ins and outs of the city which means he also was able to give tips on where to take amazing pictures! Be prepared with good walking shoes and water. Bathroom breaks are along the walk, but not as often as you might think if you account for the time slots for all of the museums you need to be at on time. Choose this tour <3
Great day really informative. Very knowledgeable guides. First guide was really caring and went the extra mile to make sure we got go our second location even though he didn't have to. Second guide great hat
I did this tour for the 3rd time last year. I had the same tour guide each time. His name is Luigi. We got him the first tour we did a few years ago and then the next year we got lucky and had him again. This past year I ASKED for him. Luigi is the BEST. He is extremely knowledgable and very polite. He knows Everything about Rome and tells you so many stories of the History of Rome. I have done tours in other cities in Italy but Luigi is the absolute Best I have ever encountered. I HIGHLY recommend this Tour Company and do yourself a favor, ask for Luigi for an unforgettable experience that you will cherish for a Lifetime. Thanks Luigi!!
Our first guide left us in the Colosseum and we had to fend for ourselves to get to the Vatican in time for the second half of our tour. The first guide's information was not interesting and self-absorbent. He basically led us to the sites and then the first part of the tour ended abruptly leaving us only about an hour to get to the Vatican by metro on our own and acquire lunch. The second guide was better but I got separated from the group because it was so crowded and it took me about 25 minutes before I found the group again. She was an art historian and pointed out some interesting artworks and stories behind the Sistine Chapel paintings.
This jam packed tour featured all the great sights of Rome. Our tour guides maximo and one other lady was very insightful through the day. They made sure to engage everyone and that we all understood the information. If you have one day in Rome this is where you’d want to go
The tour is split into two portions, each with a different tour guide. During the first half of the tour we had Maximo and he was very informative, had a great sense of humor, asked and answered lots of questions, and made sure that everyone was having fun. We met at Piazza Navona and then walked to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Venezia Square, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, and the Colosseum. After the Colosseum tour, we had to find our way to the next tour location which required using the train and google maps. The second half of the tour included Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and ended at St. Peters Basilica. As mentioned in the booking there are no food or drinks provided but there was time between the tours to get some. Be prepared for a LOT of walking, but also a once in a lifetime opportunity. We were only in Rome for two days and this made the trip well worth it!
My husband and i were so impressed with our guide. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. I loves what he said to us in the beginning of the tour. I am not just your guide but we are friends. As we viewed locations he added so much detail to places that we would have missed if not for him. I was so glad we took advantage of this tour for the friendship and the details that we experienced.
Truly one of the best tours I’ve ever been on. The tour takes you to most of the major sites around Rome and Vatican City which is great if you want to see a lot of the city but have a limited amount of days to do it. The tour guides were so friendly and knowledgeable and really told the story and set the scene for where we were and what we were seeing. They are what really set this tour apart from others. I highly recommend you take this tour (and wear comfortable shoes!)
Our guide Chiara was very informative and kind. She have lot of knowledge and funny tour guide. We had best tour with her.
My friends and I spent 3 days in Rome and wanted to see all the things, so we booked a walking tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny, unfortunately I don't remember his name. We saw 90% of the things you want to see and learned a lot about the history of Rome as well as modern day Rome. The only set back is that it is a lot of walking over the course of the day, so if you're not up for that I recommend booking it on two separate days.
Robert and his team were FANTASTIC. Very inviting, humorous, extremely informative and just a wonderful group yo interact with; we were all so very impressed with his details and willingness to ask, be asked and answer all our groups questions; the walking tour(for me,)never felt like we were "walking".... we were touring FOR SURE😊. l am so now inlove with Rome and must return to see all that l have yet to see...and for sure viator will be my tour guide provider. AKS Los Angeles,CA USA
If you’re short on time and want a little history refresher I HIGHLY recommend this tour!!! You will literally see all the main attractions in one day. I also think what made my experience enjoyable were my tour guides, Maximo for the first part of the tour & Eugenia for the 2nd part. They were both very knowledgeable, answered every little question I had, and just made the whole tour fun for me! So thank you ^_^
Do not sign up for the "When in Rome" full day tour. They boast that you will see all the goodies, Vatican Museum, St. Peter's, Trivoli Fountain, Colosseum, and the Forum. What they don't tell you is that you have to arrange for the transportation between all of those places yourself! How is this a full day tour? Because we were not informed that once we joined the tour (we arrived 30 minutes early) we would have to go to the next place on our own, we didn't make it on time and they refused to refund our money and also refused to let us join the next attraction. What a rip off! There are many other much more accommodating tours...choose them!
Excellent choise for a short or first visit. To visit most of the important and famous places in a small group. Well organized entrances, safery checkings and transfers. And When in Rome personnel. Wonderful. Flexible tour arrangements by Roberta, spellbinding and sociable Vatican tour with Chiara - and specialized and friendly Colosseum (+ other places) tour with Dario. Warm thanks to all you. From Finnish friends.
Bought an "Full-day" tour. First part was a tour of the Vatican, which was good and the guide was knowledgeable. The second part was another story. After finding out this "All-day" tour didn't provide transportation from the Vatican to the Colosseum, we had to rush to find our own way there. They told us that the subway would work. We went to the subway, but there were large lines to get tickets. After 25 minutes, we finally got a ticket and jumped on the first train. We ran to our meeting point and got there 5 minutes late to find out that the tour already left. We called When In Rome Tours to ask if they would provide a partial refund or let us meet up with the group as they were leaving the Colleseum. They said that's impossible and we would have to book another tour. We were only in Rome that day, so that wasn't happening. Terrible customer service. Apparently an "Full-day" tour really means two completely separate tours with only 40 minutes to find your own way to the 2nd tour. They owe me $130 for the 2nd tour.
Nariman was our excellent tour guide. Truly an expert in roman history, she held our interest throughout the tour. Her friendly and engaging personality made for a fun and educational experience! We highly recommend "When in Rome Tours" and our expert guide!
This is a great tour to be introduced to the long history as well as fantastic art and architecture of one of the founding cities of western civilization. Loved the Vatican, especially the art collection (although I don't understand how that might be critical to Catholicism), the Roman Colosseum and Forum, the Palatine Hill, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and a few other spots that escape me right now. Candidly, we needed another day or so to spend more time and soak in more of what we saw.
We really enjoyed our tour. Went to all of Rome's attractions. This is a walking tour that starts at the Vatican with a tour guide. You then take a cab, bus or subway to the Coliseum and other sites. Tour guides were excellent and provided great information. The audio equipment we had were clear and comfortable. Also, we didn't have to wait in line to purchase tickets to the sites we visited. Also, had our own entry. Sure beats the long line purchasing tickets at the sites. Highly recommend In Rome Tours.
Very pleased with both of our tour guide. Both were very nice, accomodating and knowledgeable. The reason for a 4 star rate is that after the 1st part of our tour - there was 1.5 hr break and the instructions that was given to us on where to meet up was not clear. We almost missed the 2nd part if not for the other guy that in our group that we run into-also lost. Otherwise, worth every penny
We really like this tour. Our morning tour guide, Christine, is terrific with giving relevant info in interesting and fun ways. She is a native English speaker and was super easy to understand. She also managed the pace very well to make sure we get to see all planned sites .Our afternoon tour guide, Irene, a native of Rome. She gave us a fantastic tour of the Colosium, the Forum and other ancient Rome sites. Then she led us downtown to see the modern Rome sites and fountains. Irene is the best guide one can hope for .She makes sure everyone is cared for and are having a good time. We got all the info and fun facts we wanted at each site and more. Her energy level is incredible even at the end of a really hot and humid day .Thank you for a wonderful day in Rome .We went out on our own the next day and complete our Roman holidays in style!
