Itinerary
Start your experience by meeting your host or, if included, your expert tour guide, who will provide your skip-the-line tickets and help you access the Vatican Museums. For guided options, headsets are included for clear commentary as you explore some of the museum’s most celebrated highlights, from the Pinecone Courtyard to the Pio-Clementino Museum and the stunning Vatican Galleries. Your guide will bring the collections to life with stories and insights along the way. If you select the ticket-only option, your host will escort you to the entrance and you will then visit the museums independently.
Discover the Cortile della Pigna, a striking open-air courtyard named after its monumental bronze pinecone.
Discover the Vatican Pinacoteca, home to an extraordinary collection of paintings by masters such as Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, and Caravaggio. Please note that this section is not always included in the guided tour option, as the itinerary may vary depending on the visitor flow inside the Museums.
Discover the Pio Clementino Museum, home to the celebrated Laocoön masterpiece, whose dramatic beauty is said to have inspired Michelangelo.
Visit the Gregorian Etruscan Museum and explore a fascinating collection of artifacts that reveal the rich history and culture of the ancient Etruscan civilization. Please note that this section is not always included in the guided tour option, as the itinerary may vary depending on the visitor flow inside the Museums.
Uncover the Gallery of Maps, a remarkable Vatican gallery decorated with richly detailed frescoed maps that celebrate the geography and beauty of Italy, along with other iconic sections such as the Gallery of Candelabra and the Gallery of Tapestries.
Admire the Raphael Rooms, a series of extraordinary frescoed chambers renowned for their beauty and for masterpieces such as The School of Athens, one of Raphael’s most celebrated works. Please note that this section is not always included in the guided tour option, as the itinerary may vary depending on the visitor flow inside the Museum.
The Sistine Chapel is a chapel in the Apostolic Palace, in Vatican City and the official residence of the pope.

We had an exceptional experience in this tour. Lindy is an amazing guide. Her knowledge about the history, the art, the architecture was incredible. The Vatican was incredibly crowded yet. She kept us all together and made sure we saw things in detail. We so did not want the tour to end!
the office to meet was not clearly described and hard to find and was not clean. The guide was fine but the tour was not guided
Our guide Alesso was brilliant very helpful and knowledgeable. Helped us to get through fast track quickly and efficiently. Reccomend if you want to get in easily and at speed!
Yes while we skipped the line…the ticket is $28 and they charge you a $100. No tour guide and you were left on your own.
Vatican City, The Sistine Chapel, and museums were absolutely amazing to experience ! Our guide was so knowledgeable and gave incites to sculptures, paintings and buildings we would have never known. He gave an in depth explanation of The Sistine Chapel and allowed us to sit and stay as long as we wanted to look for all the things he pointed out before entering the no talking no pictures Sistine. It was truly worth while and our guide was outstanding!
I would highly discourage booking through Viator. They are a booking platform with absolutely no control over the tour operator. Viator sold me 2 non refundable tickets to tour the Vatican. 3 hours before the tour, I received an email that the tour operator cancelled and I would get a refund. Not what I wanted to hear. A nonrefundable ticket should not be a one way agreement. I then scrambled to find 2 tickets and had to pay a great deal more, again through Viator’s platform. When I returned home from vacation I contacted Viator looking for compensation, and the answer was there was nothing they could do. They have no control when the tour operator cancels. After spending over an hour on this matter, I gave up. My recommendation is Viator is not the place to book tours as they have admitted they have no control over the tour operator. Your ticket is not what you think you are buying.
Quite overcrowded. Roberta was great but she had to speak very quickly to get info out. Under -whelmed by Sistine Chapel.
Fantastic tour of this place. Very knowledgeable guide and it felt like we covered a tremendous amount of ground. Strongly recommend.
We booked this last minute because my ticket order for the museums was cancelled without my knowledge. You are really just paying for the ticket, but that's all we really wanted out of the experience. The guide is nice - they make sure you know what to expect and how to get through the line more quickly. If the vatican museums are sold out and you are looking for a way to get in last minute, granted paying much more, this is still worth it!
Too expensive, we paid 254€ for 3 people, and got official tickets with a price list 28,50€ each, so I don't understand why did I have to pay so much just to skip the line..
It was helpful to have a guide to navigate the lines. However it was not worth the expense and did not include an audio guide. Others were buying same day tickets at a lower price than posted on the website. If you can’t buy tickets directly from the official Vatican website, I suggest not going.
Our guide with Inside Out Italy, Alessio, was very friendly and helped make entering into the Vatican City very smooth
The actual trip cost £149 for 2 of us, however , £25 of that price is for the total entrance fee each entry fee. This then leaves the remaining £49 to Viator. The tour guide literally crossed us over the road, stood in the queue with us for 10 minutes, walked us into the entrance of the Museum, then left us to it, never to be seen again. The next day we did the colosseum tour, which may I add, the guide never left our side, so therefore good value for money. My friend and I and a couple of others from the tour thought this was a rip off especially as there were other tour guides with other groups of people.
Great experince...it was a very well explained tour...very organized too. Our tour guide was Leticia...she was very knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable.
This tour facilitates entry into Vatican museum, which saves also of time skipping non-tour lines. It does not provide a guide.
The tour skips the line well and is very fast. Although there were many explanations, well done. We would book it again.
Awsome tour, , our guide esa have us plentynof inyeresting information.. I definately recomend It.
Frederico was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He had a great sense of humor and made the experience well worth while.
We booked our tickets direct with the vatican. Its a lot cheaper than using ticket agencies like GYG etc. The queues for tickets snaked for a long way as we approached the entry area. Thanks to a queue guard, we were directed quickly to the right short queue and were inside within 5 minutes. After visiting the ticket office we checked in with our guide - and the tour left promptly at 3pm. We saw incredible artwork, frescos, wallhangings and more. Photo opportunities abound. Then the cistine chapel - NO photos! Personally i preferred the vatican museum overall. Please note that there are 000s of people all doing the same tour. It gets extremely crowded and tour guides get frustrated with guests who do not know how to behave. 1. Buy your tickets in advance 2 use the official vatican ticket website 3. Respect the rules of where you are. This is one of the worlds most important sites
So crowded it was not enjoyable at all. It is a 2 hour forced march through the museum in order to get to the chapel. Miles of art from random periods/places. Claustrophobic corridors and rooms absolutely packed with people and tour groups. Zero places to sit down during the whole ordeal. Go to the Galleria Colonna instead and actually see the art. The guide did get us past the outside line as promised but once inside it was horrible. We went at 5pm when it was theoretically less busy. Not true or possibly even worse earlier.
Martha was a great guide and spoke clearly and with a depth of knowledge . All the staff was lovely and we were given reminders of what to bring etc and the route to the meeting point. We were so glad we had booked skip the line and this tour as the queues were horrendous.
Walking and talking.... Definitely skip the line and keep this time 430pm ... Alex was great audio tour guide
Fast and easy. Worked well for getting in fast! Gave us good information about getting into the basilica and the vatican post office.
Too crowded and felt like the whole morning was just one big queue. Even though we had a guided tour with queue jump. The actual museum was far too crowded.
Our experience was very calm colected and informative, our guide was paionate and knowledgeable
The skip the line and guidance through was helpful. The audioguide was not. Also the interactive map was hard to read and follow.
Our guide was amazing full of knowledge and humour . She knew and in depth knowledge and facts. Explained in simple words. She is an amazing guide.
I booked with TripAdvisor months before my trip in September. They did contact me the weekend before I left to tell me that the trip would now only be in Spanish but I had the option of canceling- I really wanted to see the Pope so I did not cancel- Needless to say I missed out on a lot of of the pre-information that was given out before the event- because I don’t speak Spanish,…but I am so glad that I went. They chose fabulous seats for us. I was so close to the Pope as he passed by in the Pope Mobile- It was a great experience!
Very expensive compared to regular skip the queue ticket. Guide was difficult to understand at times. Hanging around in the street for 30 mins waiting.
Had a great tour with Gabriel. ¡Gracias!
Great experience with the guide
Gabriel was an amazing guide and the experience one of a kind
It was amazing and helpful and amazing information
Gabriel was an amazing tour guide! He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions.
This was fine if all you want is to skip the line. I recommend getting the audio tour when you enter. That way you at least get some of the information.
Very good love it even with a lot of people and I feel a bit claustrophobic but we all got in very well without any problems very good organised.
The Vatican tour was fantastic, made even better with our amazing tour guide Fred. He was very knowledgeable and with having an archaeological background he brought it all to life for us. Highly recommend this tour.
Good tour, but very hard to understand our tour guide, would mix Italian and english, and would sometimes speak very fast, so difficult to pick up , volume of headsets was good, just hard to understand this particular knowledgeable person who led the tour
Great tour Was surprised the famous painting is just on of many on the ceiling but great tour. Use NEFEAST5 when booking on GetYourGuide and get 5% off great for queue jumps. Code works for anh booking on the app and as many people. ( just use different emails for different bookings as code work only once for each email)
Gabriel was fantastic! Vast knowledge and interesting to listen to
Gabriel was an amazing and extremely knowledgeable guide! The experience was well worth the money!
Very beautiful, but somewhat confusing.
Sarah our English speaking guide was brilliant she navigated through the crowds and managed to keep us informed and educated throughout. She was passionate and clearly knew her subject. The only downside is the crowds though was expected.
Horrible experience, skip the queue is not what you think. Only applies to getting through the entrance, you still wait 15-20 minutes and the go through security which is another 10 minutes. Packed in like sardines in a tin, hard to see anything for the crowds of people. Disappointing and horrific experience for 190 AUD each.
Book your own tickets in advance with the Vatican. Our local company contracted by Viator was not very friendly, communicative, or on time. The on time thing very frustrating since their communication to me was basically "don't be late, we don't wait on you". But we waited too long to book our own tickets and this was our only way in. So it served a purpose.
Amazing time we had doing the on your own tour only issue was extremely long lines and the heavens open up with rain I never experienced before…the streets flooded and taxi’s raised their prices 🤷🏽♀️ other than that Viator is the way to go!
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Knees and shoulders must be covered, but dress as lightly as possible. Museums are very warm.
Easy and accurate instructions to find tour agency. Staff friendly and helpful. We had the BEST tour guide! Gabriel was amazing - passionate and a wealth of knowledge. Went above and beyond. Felt like we hit the jackpot with him! 10/10
Our guide was Gabriel, it was very informative, explaining all the artwork and going through it like a breeze. I don't think I could manage it by myself; also, skipping the queue is the best part of the tour.
