Went on a very informative well organized tour today with City Wonders met the group on the steps by Cafe Vaticano even if it’s your first time in Rome every taxi driver knows where the steps are located. Marina was our tour guide she was excellent so knowledgeable, so friendly, helpful . Don’t try and do this tour by yourself the queues and the history alone is so much leave it up to the professionals! Money well spent . Thank you again for a fabulous tour.

Itinerary
Gain exclusive access to the UNESCO-listed Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica with this small-group tour of 20 people or less, experience the renowned sites in the best conditions with your expert guide.
Stroll through rooms like the Gallery of Maps, with its golden, vaulted ceiling and the stunning Sistine Chapel, considered to be the Pope’s home chapel, with Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam and The Last Judgement. On your early-access tour, you’ll find the galleries to be considerably quieter than they would be later in the day.
Nestled within the Vatican Museums, the Pineyard Courtyard is a tranquil oasis exuding timeless elegance. Adorned with lush greenery and surrounded by classic architecture, this courtyard features a striking bronze statue, the Pigna, designed by Donato Bramante. The atmosphere is serene, providing a peaceful respite for visitors. As you stroll through, the sound of rustling leaves accompanies the captivating sight of the Pinecone Courtyard, offering a moment of reflection amid the cultural richness of the Vatican Museums.
In the heart of the Vatican's Cortile della Pigna stands a notable bronze sculpture: Sfera con sfera (Sphere Within a Sphere) by Italian artist Arnaldo Pomodoro. This captivating artwork depicts two fractured orbs resembling intricate machine gears, symbolizing the intricate and fragile nature of the modern world. Pomodoro began creating similar sculptures in the early 1960s, exploring the theme of complexity.
Discover the Vatican Museums' Gallery of Maps on your tour: an enchanting showcase of detailed cartography spanning centuries. Immerse yourself in history with vibrant maps, capturing the beauty of geography and artistry.
The Sistine Chapel is one of the most renowned cultural and artistic landmarks in the world. Built in the late 15th century during the papacy of Pope Sixtus IV, it serves as the official chapel of the Apostolic Palace and the site of papal conclaves, where new popes are elected. Its greatest significance lies in its breathtaking frescoes, particularly the ceiling and The Last Judgment, both painted by Michelangelo in the 16th century. The ceiling, completed between 1508 and 1512, depicts scenes from the Book of Genesis, including the iconic Creation of Adam. The Last Judgment, painted on the altar wall between 1536 and 1541, illustrates the Second Coming of Christ. Beyond its artistic and religious importance, the Sistine Chapel remains a symbol of Renaissance humanism, divine inspiration, and the Catholic Church’s enduring influence in art and culture.
At last, your guide will escort you into St. Peter’s Basilica, bypassing long lines of spectators, to provide an overview of this spectacular church. At the end of the tour, you can remain in St. Peter’s Basilica at your leisure, or you may return outside to St. Peter’s Square to admire Bernini’s clever optical illusion and the basilica’s heavenly façade.
St. Peter's Square, an iconic masterpiece in Rome, embraces visitors with its grandeur. Designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the vast elliptical space is encircled by a majestic colonnade, symbolizing the Church's embrace. The central obelisk and fountains add splendor, while the stunning façade of St. Peter's Basilica stands as a beacon of architectural brilliance, inviting pilgrims and tourists alike to marvel at the heart of Vatican City. The most fantastic way to finish your Vatican tour experience!

AMAZING TOUR - Rossella made this whole experience for us! She was utterly fantastic: informative, friendly, animated, genuine and just overall a joy to have as our guide for 3 hours. The tour was everything we wanted and more for our time exploring the Vatican and St. Peter’s. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you, Rossella. You’re a gem 💎
We enjoyed our tour so much. Amil was fabulous!! She was great!
A damp day didn’t take away from a wonderful morning in the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. Amil was a fantastic tour guide, she was both informative and super funny, which made things extra interesting. There were about 15 in our group of various nationalities and we were all engaged with her. The 3 hours flew by and at the end we stayed for more sights, before heading off for lunch.
Immensely enjoyed this tour and Silvia, our tour guide, is a total treasure, with her wealth of knowledge and such a warm, engaging manner. The insight alone was worth the price of a guided tour and I would definitely recommend. We were not rushed and lucky to be slightly out of season meaning the crowds were not too intense.
This tour did not disappoint. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a lovely sense of humour which made the tour less heavy. Very informative. Great explanations of paintings, tapestries, statues and buildings. We throughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it. It is 3 hours of constant walking and listening but it went very quickly as our guide made it so entertaining
Our guide Ilaria was fantastic, she had an abundance of knowledge, was friendly and made the tour fun while ensuring all our needs were met. The only negative was one of the staff members checking people in on arrival was quite rude and abrupt, which was not a good start to the tour.
We really enjoyed our Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica tour with Polina. She was very knowledgeable of everything we saw and patient with our questions. Would recommend her to anyone!! From booking the tour to taking it was all very easy.
I think that you truly need a guide to do the Vatican and many many days. We got Amy who was wonderful. She added a lot of humor which made everything better and not so boring. Fully recommend
The tour was an amazing experience. If you have never been to the Vatican, this is a great way to learn a lot about its history in 3 hours. Our tour guide Amil was absolutely amazing. She has so much knowledge and made the 3 hours very enjoyable.
Completely delightful and extremely insightful tour of the Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter’s basilica. Our tour guide Amy was beyond brilliant! So professional and knowledgeable and very personable. I would take her tour to anywhere!
Tour was informative and well paced- Hisam ( our Egyptian guide was great and very knowledgeable- glad we booked
Amy was an incredible guide. The visit is overwhelming, but she did a great job of navigating us through and providing interesting details that made everything seem real.
Wonderful guide through the Vatican. My only negative did not get to see the painting room
Ambra was exceptional! She was very knowledgeable about the history of the Vatican. She was also very friendly and considerate of everyone’s needs in the group. We would definitely recommend this tour with Ambra!
Ambra was an amazing tour guide!
This was a fabulous tour with Amy! It was informative, interesting and humorous. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in a guided tour of The Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s. City wonders were informative, easy to book and a great price for the tour that we received!!
Our guide,Christian, was knowledgeable and interesting. He was ready to understand.
Cosimo was our Tour Guide for the Vatican visit. His knowledge, guidance and sense of comedic timing made the tour amazing, educational and fun! The memories of a lifetime!
Giuseppe was a superb guide. Very informative and had time for everything. The place is beyond amazing. It is a must if you are heading to Rome!
Loved our guide. Very passionate about his culture and gave us good information. He really made the tour.
I’ve been to the Vatican twice before and did self guided tours. This time we went through Viator and had a wonderful guide named Marina. She was fabulous! Not only extremely knowledgeable but very witty. We really enjoyed her great sense of humor and kindness. I really recommend having a guided tour over a self guided tour. You learn so many more interesting facts and stories.
Beatrice was very knowledgeable and pleasant throughout the tour. Her ability to engage the crowd was wonderful and enjoyed. Easy understood and we went at a good pace ! thank you
A thoroughly enjoyable three-hour tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica with City Wonders. Our guide, Beatrice, was brilliant - highly knowledgeable and an engaging, entertaining guide, as well as being very organised in keeping the group together in a very busy and bustling environment. We'd thoroughly recommend a visit with City Wonders - and can't sing Beatrice's praises enough!
Had an amazing tour of the Vatican with Iman. We went on a Wednesday morning so the basilica was closed but Iman showed us things that normally wouldn't be covered on the tour to compensate. The Vatican museums and Sistine chapel were amazing. Iman was very knowledgeable and passionate about the exhibits and had a few surprises exclusive to the tour group for us. Highly recommend!
Our guide Cosimo was excellent! Extremely informative and had a great sense of humor ! Enjoyed and appreciated all the details and stories he told … it was a long afternoon but he was so engaging and kept everyone on step!! Would highly recommend Cosimo, really the best guide we had all trip!
Alex, was wonderful and very knowledgeable, would definitely 110 percent book with her again
Christian was an excellent and enthusiastic tour guide. He took very good care of us: it can get very busy at points and he was very aware of keeping us together and well informed
Amy was an incredible tour guide She was very informative and had a great sense of humor
Our guide Elisa was very good. She was very knowledgeable and friendly we felt she really looked after us too. The only negative really was the headset because it kept falling off our ears but also in some crowded places it meant it was very difficult to hear her which was not her fault just needs may be actually headphone in the ear instead? Great trip and guide though would recommend.
Ambra was very informative. She knew all the highlights very well and answered many questions that we had along the way. I would recommend her to anyone. She was respectful and kind as well.
The booking process and meeting instructions were clear. Check in point was easy to find and well-organised. Laura was a great guide and really enhanced the experience.
An amazing tour with an exceptional guide, Laura. She is very knowledgeable and looks like she really enjoys teaching us new things.
Fantastic tour and great guide Elizabeth was very helpful and knowledgeable
Very convenient and informational tour of the Vatican museum, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s. The tour is approx 2 hrs but it does take almost one hour to get in even with the tour guide and skip the line. There are always lots of people. I suggest the tour as it grants you quick access to the Basilica without having to exit and renter. Even in October it was crowded and you do feel like you are being rushed from room to room. Stefania our tour guide was very friendly and informative and super patient.
Great tour of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica today. We had the fabulous tour guide Davide who was so helpful and full of knowledge, highly recommend.
My 81-year-old mum took a City Wonders tour in Rome in September and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Her guide, Cosimo, was exceptionally kind, polite and knowledgeable, with a very pleasant manner throughout. He paid close attention to her comfort and made sure she was not becoming too tired, which made a real difference and allowed her to relax and enjoy the tour fully. We were very grateful for his thoughtful care and would warmly recommend Cosimo and City Wonders.
It was amazing, our tour guide, Tania knew so many shortcuts which eventually saved us a lot of time. She was very nice and well known English speaker. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience.
Fabio , was an amazing guide he was enthusiastic and very informative . Would highly recommend him.
Haitham was a treat. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. He took extra good care of some elderly folks in our group with some mobility issues.
Very well organized, Mona our Guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable, wonderful person!!
Great experience with our guide Cosimo! Must book the tour to skip the line and also understand what you are looking at but the art is extraordinary. The price is worth it for your time, 3 hrs and you can stay longer.
Christian was a fantastic tour guide! He was extremely knowledgeable, very entertaining, and extremely personable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide.
Meeting point was easy to find. Guide was punctual, personable and knowledgeable. Toured the Gallery of the Chandelier and Gallery of Maps before entering the Sistine Chapel. The guide spent some time explaining the art inside the Sistine Chapel before we entered. All were beautiful and awe inspiring. Too much to see and comprehend in one visit. Spent about 30 minutes with the guide inside St Peter’s Basilica and then stayed after the tour for a while to wander inside.
Martina was a great guide, and very knowledgeable.
Absolutely the best way to see the Vatican. They make it so easy and you learn so much more than traveling on your own. They take the worry and stress out of your trip. You don’t have to wonder if you are in the right line or which way to go. All you need to do is follow your guide and enjoy your tour.
My husband & I throughly enjoyed our visit to the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, & St. Peter’s Basilica! Our guide, Christian, was fantastic & so knowledgeable about the history & significance of the structures & art pieces. He did a wonderful job of connecting with each of us in the group & making the tour group feel a lot smaller than it was. His stories helped us picture the time period & history so well. I would highly recommend Christian as a tour guide! We wish we had him on our other tours throughout Rome! :)
A wonderful look at the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica with our very knowledgeable guide PG. Well worth a visit.
