Itinerary point by point: Vatican Museums: Pinecone Courtyard Chiaramonti Gallery Pio Clementino Museum Courtyard Ottagono Rooms of Animals Gallery of Statues Cabinet of Masks (exclusive entrance) Room of Muses Rotonda Room Greek Cross Room Gallery of the Candelabra Gallery of Tapestries Gallery of Maps Raffaello Rooms Sistine Chapel St. Peter Basilica (inside) St Peter Square
Courtyard or Belvedere Court The Cortile del Belvedere (Belvedere Courtyard or Belvedere Court) was a major architectural work of the High Renaissance at the Vatican Palace in Rome. Designed by Donato Bramante from 1505 onward, its concept and details reverberated in courtyard design, formalized piazzas and garden plans throughout Western Europe for centuries.[citation needed] Conceived as a single enclosed space, the long Belvedere court connected the Vatican Palace with the Villa Belvedere in a series of terraces connected by stairs, and was contained on its sides by narrow wings. Bramante did not see the work completed, and before the end of the sixteenth century it had been irretrievably altered by a building across the court, dividing it into two separate courtyards.
Pio Clementino, Room of Animals, Gallery of Muses, Gallery Rotonda, Candelabra Gallery, Tapestry Gallery, Maps Gallery. The Vatican Museums (Italian: Musei Vaticani; Latin: Musea Vaticana) are the public museums of the Vatican City. They display works from the immense collection amassed by the Catholic Church and the papacy throughout the centuries, including several of the most renowned Roman sculptures and most important masterpieces of Renaissance art in the world. The museums contain roughly 70,000 works, of which 20,000 are on display,[1] and currently employ 640 people who work in 40 different administrative, scholarly, and restoration departments.
Raphael's Rooms The four Raphael Rooms form a suite of reception rooms in the Apostolic Palace, now part of the Vatican Museums, in Vatican City. They are famous for their frescoes, painted by Raphael and his workshop. Together with Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling frescoes, they are the grand fresco sequences that mark the High Renaissance in Rome.
The Sistine Chapel Originally known as the Great Chapel, the chapel takes its name from Pope Sixtus IV, who had it built between 1473 and 1481. The fame of the Sistine Chapel lies mainly in the frescoes that decorate the interior, most particularly the Sistine Chapel ceiling and The Last Judgment, both by Michelangelo.
We will have the chance to visit the Cabinet of Masks exclusively, that you will be able to admire far from the crowd, to give you a taste of what it was like when they were admitted only few and highly selected guests
The Tour includes the St. Peter's Square Saint Peter's Square is a large plaza located directly in front of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, the papal enclave inside Rome, directly west of the neighborhood (rione) of Borgo. Both the square and the basilica are named after Saint Peter, an apostle of Jesus considered by Catholics to be the first Pope. At the centre of the square is an ancient Egyptian obelisk, erected at the current site in 1586. Gian Lorenzo Bernini designed the square almost 100 years later, including the massive Doric colonnades, four columns deep, which embrace visitors in "the maternal arms of Mother Church". A granite fountain constructed by Bernini in 1675 matches another fountain designed by Carlo Maderno in 1613.
The Tour includes the St. Peter's Basilica from the inside with precious works of art such as the Piety by Michelangelo and the Baldacchino by GianLorenzo Bernini Peter's Basilica is one of the largest buildings in the world and is the largest of the papal basilicas. At the moment the St. Peter's Basilica is a building that measures 218 meters of length and 136 meters of height including its dome. It has an area of 23,000 square meters.

Our 3 hour tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & St Peter Basilica was with Tour Guide Yevgen Lysenkov from He was excellent! Our group size was 4 which worked out well. Yev spoke very good english and was easy to understand . His knowledge of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & St Peter Basilica was excellent ! He had a lot of interesting facts that brought the history to life! He maneuvered us to places that made the best use of our time. His knowledge of history and religion was excellent! He knew the area well and was able to maximize the use of our time by moving efficiently from one area to another.I would highly recommend Yevgen for your trip to Rome! He works through Crazy4Rome Tours. The only thing I would do differently would to get the 4 hour tour.
Our tour guide, Yevgen, was amazing! He was so knowledgeable, attentive to our needs and had a great sense of humor! Definitely recommend this company. It is our 2nd time using them and I have had great experiences both times.
Amazing tour! Our tour guide Yevgen was so attentive, engaging, historically knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor! This was my 2nd tour with this company and when I come back, I will definitely use again!
Visited Vatican on a hot summer day. Our guide Tatiana was the perfect fit for that situation. She has 20 years of experience & it showed! She was able to move us through lines easily to get the tour started, knew all the shady spots to stand etc. Her love for the history of The Vatican shines through! What an incredibly passionate, knowledgable & beautiful person she is! We felt blessed to have her as our personal guide for the day!
Overwhelming but in the best way. Yev was very knowledgeable and personable. We were able to skip the line which was a bonus.
Romina, our tour guide, went out of her way to accommodate our mobility impaired friend, to give us a tour that avoided stairs and minimized walking distance. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, and all of the art in the museums. I highly recommend booking a tour with Crazy4Rome if you want a private guided tour of the Vatican museums, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. And ask for Romina to be your tour guide, she was fantastic!
What a wonderful experience! Our guide, Yevgen was excellent! Patient, attentive, very knowledgeable. With so much to see, he was able to ask questions of us to understand our interests and his knowledge and experience was key to our getting the most of our trip. What a great time. I would highly recommend!
We loved this tour! Matteo was very knowledgeable and shared great information about everything we saw! We learned so much and this was our first time visiting. Highly recommended!
Vincenzo was fantastic. He first quickly got to know us and our interests and then tailored the tour to meet our desire for the visit. He was super knowledgeable and funny. I would highly recommend!
We were able to spend a half a day with Mateo. He escorted us through the Vatican city in the height of its preparations for Christmas Eve. He was a thoughtful, well-versed tour guide. His passion for his country in the subject matter was so appreciated. Great tour.
Touring the Vatican with Karin was a highlight of our trip. She provided a very informative, thoughtful, and engaging experience for our entire family. Karin’s knowledge, storytelling, and ability to navigate such a busy and important site made the tour seamless and enriching. We learned so much and truly appreciated the care she took in sharing the history and significance of each space. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.
Maria was an excellent guide. She told us a lot of interesting facts and her Russian was excellent. My family really enjoyed the tour.
Our tour guide wasn't good for kids. She wanted to stick to a long and detailed script that wasn't relevant. Hard to hear and understand with the earphones in the museum. This would be good for a history buff looking for many details. Overall the tour was informative, just not what we expected.
Karin was a great guide, very patient with us as we navigated the Vatican. She spent a lot of time answering our questions, and even though we were all Catholic and fairly knowledgeable about the church, we still learned many things, especially about the Sistine Chapel and role of the Pope. The museums were amazing.
Enjoyed tour. Went smoothly and informative. Our tour guide, Karin, was helpful and did well. Lasted about 4 hours.
Our tour guide, Paolo, was well informed and a pleasure to be with. He was very knowledgeable about the subjects of religion and art and the history of the Vatican. It was so nice to be able to cut the line as well, but the cost of this tour was a little pricey for what it offered. Four hours was more than enough time.
Such a great learning experience with a guide that was in tune with so much of the history. Walking through the doors of St Peter’s was quite the experience!
We had a wonderful visit to the Vatican museums and the Basilica with our amazing guide Tatyana. She was able to adjust our tour last minute to help us see some new parts of the museum and she was so knowledgeable about all of the beautiful art. A very special and memorable day - thank you!
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we (9 people) thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I recommend using this tour company.
Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & Basilica & Private Tour. It's wonderful and you'll appreciate it for ever.
Very nice guide, Family-Friedly Tour, we had 3 hours time, all our questions were answered, perfect orginised tour without timelost
Seeing the Vatican with Sistine Chapel is over whelming. Just beautiful and the history of Christianity laid out before you. Matteo was great, his knowledge and love of the Vatican city/state made the tour so much more. I recommend pay a little more for skip the line and small group as you can move easier and hear and receive more information. Great service from Vitor from Reservation to after tour.
Great experience and guide Tetyana! She’s so knowledgeable, humorous, and passionate about her work and the information. The basilica was not open until late in the day so we missed that piece but it was not anything our guide or the company could help. I’d recommend in case this happens in the future having a full day so you can return late in the afternoon to basilica once it opens.
It was a great tour with an amazing guide. I would have thought Tetyana was a university history professor. I felt as if our group had learned as much during our time with her as if we had done a semester of college. Highly recommend!
Great guide, nice tour. It was my second tour organized by Crazy4rome. Guides are nice and professional. I'd recommend this operator.
Our guide Yev was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, making the history and art come alive. He also kept our 7yr old engaged throughout the tour. His insights into the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica added so much depth to the experience. Highly recommend!
Fabio was a lovely guide and very informative on all areas of the tour. It was well worth the cost of doing a private guide. He was able to navigate us around most of the crowds and there was no waiting at all! The weather was very hot and he took the time to check in with us and give us time to sit and rest when needed. Overall the service was excellent!
Matteo was an outstanding tour guide making us feel like family. We learned about the incredible history of the Vatican and the Papacy and saw all the highlights. Part of the tour we were able to enjoy a coffee and converse about the structures and locations in great detail. It was an absolutely incredible experience.
Great experience working with Emanuele and the Crazy4rome team. The guides were professional and fun. On time and it made our trip run smooth and wonderful! Not having to worry about lines and getting tickets was amazing!!!
Very nice tour with Yoryana. The history and the sights are such wonderful to hear and see. Yoryana made it extra special as she was very attentive to our needs and made sure we are well taken cared of. I highly suggest to ask for her when you take this tour.
Our guide Zevgen, was excellent. He communicated with us pre trip, he was on time and very professional. He took us to parts of the museum I had never seen before in previous trips. He took time out for breaks when we needed a snack or a bathroom break. His knowledge was excellent. His english was great. Highly recommend this tour if you can get Zevgen!
We had a great experience with Crazy4Rome! Emanuele went above and beyond in booking the tour for us after we were cancelled on by another company. Matteo was an incredible guide and was very flexible with our timing with travel schedules. We were able to skip past multiple lines and take some great “shortcuts” through the Vatican Museums to see all the highlights. I would definitely recommend the Crazy4Rome Vatican private tour!
The Vatican Tour was very interesting and our guide Paola was great. Perfect explanation in french and very competent. She had a very complet Knowledge about the Vaticani history and her Information help a lot to understand this beautyful place. Many thanks for this great experience, we Head a wonderful time
MARIA WAS AN EXCELLENT GUIDE -- SHE HAS A REAL PASSION FOR HISTORY. WE HAD MARIA AS OUR GUIDE LAST YEAR WITH FRIENDS. KNEW SHE WOULD BE PERFECT FOR OUR FAMILY TOUR--AGES 13-73. CRAZY4ROME MAKES TOURING SO SIMPLE. EXPERT AND PROFESSIONAL GUIDES WHO COMMUNICATE VERY WELL. ALWAYS ON TIME--TAILORING TOUR TO THE GROUPS' INTERESTS. THEY CAN EVEN ARRANGE TRANSPORTATION FOR YOU. AWESOME EXPERIENCES!!!
Took the Vatican tour with Yevgen and I can't say enough wonderful things about him. He was superb - very knowledgeable, kind, patient, spoke perfect english - and made the tour so enjoyable. And Emanuele of the tour company made everything so easy- it was extremely well organized and worth the cost. Couldn't recommend both this specific tour and the Crazy4Rome enough. Absolutely top notch!!
Our group of 8 had two private tours with Crazy4Rome, one in Rome, one in Florence. Both tours were very professionally run with amazing guides with university degrees in Art History. I would highly recommend both tours, everything was run on time with excellent communication. 5 stars!
Rosanna our guide was amazing! Very friendly and engaging with the children. She made it super interesting and fun. Very knowledgeable and obviously loves what she does. Thanks to Crazy4Rome and Rosanna
Maria met us before our tour and took us to the Vatican entrance. We did have to wait for our entry time, but once it was our time it was not long to get in. Once inside we had headphone to listen to. We were only the seven in our family and Maria. She was wonderful at taking us through the museums, explaining everything, more detailed when we were interested, less so when she saw we weren’t. Took her time with us, answered our questions, never rushed us. Crazy4rome and Maria were a wonderful addition to our trip, so glad I booked them.
Amazing experience! Fabio is the best guide we have ever had 🫶🏻 Super inteligent with an excelent archeologist knowledge! Grazie to Fabio an the team of Crazy4Rome🫶🏻
Stefania gave us a tour of the Vatican and was very informative and the skip the line is the way to go. The Sistine Chapel and vast array of masterful art exhibited is well worth the tour. We were pleased with Stefania's ability to navigate through the large lines.
Crazy4Rome is the best company to arrange a tour with . We had Oksana for our private wheelchair access tour to the Vatican museums,Sistine chapel and StPeters basilica. She went out of her way to accommodate our every request, toilet breaks, drink and food breaks and was so knowledgeable about the history of everything we came across, artworks, sculptures ect. She spent longer with us to make sure we got to see everything. Leading upto our arrival in Rome Emanuele from Crazy4Rome was kind reassuring and kept us informed of meeting place ect and when we needed to add a family member it was all done for us without any hassle. Highly recommend this company for any tours you wish to go on in Rome. Thankyou
Emanuele, the owner, of Crazy4Rome tours made the experience easy to book. Everything in our itinerary was listed by Email. We got emails and texts the day before, with pictures, showing us where to meet our guide. Our guide was Yevgen who has a degree in Art History and is the perfect person to take tours from in Rome. He spoke great English, was enthusiastic and enjoyed conversing with us about anything that popped into our heads about what we were seeing. We did another tour with Crazy4Rome and Yevgen to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Absolutely amazing the history that took place here! I highly recommend Crazy4Rome tours and Yevgen... though don't take him away from us next time we visit!
Absolutely WOW! My family uses Viator often, and this was the best tour ever! We feel like we lucked up and got the best tour guide ever, Oksana. She shared her knowledge and her passion for art with my family, and we will never forget the experience. The sheer volume of things to see at The Vatican is mind-boggling. Our tour guide showed us the highlights in an expert way, imparting additional expert insight and knowledge. Normally I sort the tour listing by User Rating, then choose from the top of the list. For whatever reason, this tour was around #10 on the sorted list. The 9 tours above it were all sold out on our date. Yet it was pure luck, because we received the very best tour with the very best guide. We were extremely pleased. HIGHLY recommended.
Wonderful tour. The guide gave us some great insights and knowledge, we learnt a lot and really enjoyed exploring the Vatican.
We booked our tour with Crazy4Rome and so happy that we did! The communication during the booking process and prior to our tour was appreciated. They provided us with a knowledgeable guide named Luisa. As busy as it was in the Vatican she was able to maneuver our private group to see all the highlights and more. She was a wealth of information and pointed out significant details about certain sculptures and paintings that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. She definitely knew her history, but it never felt overwhelming, This tour was definitely one of our highlights of our 3 week trip in Italy.
Maria Rosario was fantastic!! Easy to understand, very interesting facts and dates, she explained things in such a nice way that we really felt as if we were part of the construction and daily activities. She took her time and followed our lead as to how much interest we had. We actually did two different tours with her -- she was great!! Scheduling with the office was efficient and communication about meeting places, etc was on point. Would highly recommend this company!!
We were beyond pleased with our Crazy4Rome tour experience. Our guide, Maria, was absolutely fantastic. She was a wealth of knowledge, very talented and passionate about what she does, and navigates the whole tour seamlessly. Emanuele helped make the booking process effortless and even helped arrange transportation to and from the Vatican. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering. Thanks Crazy4Rome!!
Our tour guide,Romina, was terrific. Her knowledge of the Vatican history and inner workings was terrific. Her English was excellent and she had a really nice sense of humor. We also used Crazy4Rome for all our transfers around town, from the train station and to the airport. The drivers were always on time, friendly and the vehicles were first class. Working with Emanuele was easy.
I was lucky enough to be connected with Crazy4Rome for a Vatican tour with Monica. And may I say - incredible!!! Not only was the tour so informative and engaging but I felt so lucky to hear her story tell and share her love for the history of her home. This tour was so incredible that I even stayed an extra 2 hours after to explore St. Peter’s Basilica. I would recommend booking this tour especially if you are very passionate about history or your Catholic faith! Bravo!
