Rosa was exceptional and unforgettable! Her knowledge and expertise was impressive! What we loved the most about Rosa was how personable and animated she was. We still talk about how amazing she was and how she felt like a family member hanging out with us teaching us all the things. We would highly recommend Rosa for an unforgettable tour experience!

The Courtyard of the “Pigna”, created from the 16th-century area of the “Belvedere”
The Sphere within a Sphere" by Arnaldo Pomodoro at the Vatican Museums is a striking sculptural masterpiece that graces the Cortile della Pigna. This captivating artwork features a large bronze sphere with a textured, fractured surface, revealing a smaller sphere within. The interplay of light and shadow on the intricate patterns adds to its mesmerizing allure. Symbolizing themes of complexity and inner depth, Pomodoro's sculpture at the Vatican Museums stands as a testament to the convergence of art, spirituality, and profound meaning in the heart of one of the world's most renowned cultural institutions.
The Gallery of Maps, inside the Vatican Museums, displays a stunning collection of topographical maps of Italy. Created in the 16th century under Pope Gregory XIII, these beautifully painted maps span 120 meters, offering a unique geographical snapshot of the Italy of the past.
The Vatican Museums' Gallery of Tapestries showcases stunning 15th and 16th-century tapestries, intricately woven with scenes from biblical and historical narratives. Inspired by designs from Raphael’s school, this gallery highlights the artistic sophistication and storytelling of the Renaissance.
The Gallery of the Candelabra is a part of the Vatican Museums, showcasing a rich collection of Greek and Roman statues, sarcophagi, and reliefs. It is named for the grand marble candelabra that decorate it, dividing the gallery into thematic sections. Set up in the late 18th century, the gallery merges ancient art with stunning architectural details, providing visitors a journey through history and beauty.
If RENAISSANCE OPTION SELECTED: the tour will include the Rooms of Raphael. Each room offers a vibrant tableau of Renaissance ideals—harmony, intellect, faith, and history. The interplay of art and history takes visitors on an unforgettable journey through one of the most remarkable periods in Western art and culture.
The Sistine Chapel takes its name from Pope Sixtus IV della Rovere (pontiff from 1471 to 1484) who had the old Cappella Magna restored between 1477 and 1480. It is known throughout the world both for being the place where the conclave and other official ceremonies of the Pope are held (in the past also some papal coronations), and for being decorated with one of the most famous and celebrated works of art of artistic civilization the frescoes by Michelangelo.
INCLUDED ONLY FOR OPTIONS THAT INCLUDE ST. PETER'S BASILICA: Enjoy the breathtaking Saint Peter's Basilica, shrine of Christianity and Art. You will marvel at the Priceless Pietà, by Michelangelo, and stop by the venerable tomb of Saint John Paul II & Pope Karol Wojtyla. INCLUDED ONLY FOR OPTIONS THAT INCLUDE ST. PETER'S BASILICA: The Pietà is a work of Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti, housed in St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City. It is the first of a number of works of the same theme by the artist. The statue was commissioned for the French Cardinal Jean de Bilhères, who was a representative in Rome. The sculpture, in Carrara marble, was made for the cardinal's funeral monument, but was moved to its current location, the first chapel on the right as one enters the basilica, in the 18th century. It is the only piece Michelangelo ever signed.
INCLUDED ONLY FOR OPTIONS THAT INCLUDE ST. PETER'S BASILICA: The Baldachin in St. Peter's Basilica is a breathtaking masterpiece of art and architecture. Designed by the renowned Baroque sculptor and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini, it stands as a magnificent bronze canopy over the high altar of the basilica. This ornate structure, adorned with intricate details and towering over 90 feet tall, serves as a symbol of the grandeur of the Catholic Church and a focal point of the basilica's interior. It is a true marvel that captivates visitors with its beauty and historical significance.
IF DOME OPTION IS SELECTED: The dome of St. Peter's Basilica, a masterpiece designed by Michelangelo, stands as a defining symbol of the Vatican and Rome. As one of the largest and most iconic domes in the world, it offers breathtaking views both from the ground and its viewing gallery. Dominating the skyline, it reflects the architectural brilliance of the Renaissance.
INCLUDED ONLY FOR OPTIONS THAT INCLUDE ST. PETER'S BASILICA: This monumental elliptical space, enclosed by 284 Doric columns four rows deep (196m wide and 148m long), is the masterpiece of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, who laid it out during the pontificates of Alexander VII and of Clement IX.

Our guide Marina was excellent. I highly recommend having a personal tour where you can ask specific questions and gain knowledge on the art and scenery. It really elevated our experience.
Pamela was late, but so was most of the tours that day because of the rain. Pamela did a fantastic job showing us the highlights of the Vatican Museum and we just barely got into the Basilica which was great. Then only improvement I would suggest is that she move her mike and make sure during the tour that everyone can really hear her. I tried to get her to move it in the beginning and she did, but with the accent and the noise of the museum she was hard at times to understand. I think it would be good when there is a time crunch to ask the participants what parts they would like to see. We didn't get into the paintings, or where they ate like we did on our first trip to the Vatican. I know she was hurrying us to get into the Basilica before they closed it to the Pope. Good job Pamela!
Katie’s in depth knowledge of all aspects of visiting the Vatican made all the difference in the world to our visit. She would tell us about different paintings and sculptures before we would enter a building and that allowed us to not be overwhelmed. And to enjoy the beauty.
Great very efficient thought provoking way to see the Vatican and the chapel. I would highly recommend this to everyone.
Overall, a very good experience. The guide was knowledgeable, pleasant, and professional. We really enjoyed the tour and appreciated the friendly and informative guidance.
Maria was very knowledgeable about the history and art of the Vatican. She went at the perfect pace for my husband with mobility limitations. She was very personable and able to answer all of our questions. She exceeded our expectations.
Alex was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed his personal relationship throughout the tour. He was very sincere about his explanation of St Peter’s Church.
Manny was a fantastic guide, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience with him. Our group included elderly family members, and Manny was incredibly thoughtful about ensuring the tour was paced appropriately. Whenever possible, he made accommodations to minimize any difficulties and make the experience comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. He is extremely knowledgeable, and we learned a great deal during our visit. We highly recommend Manny and encourage others to consider booking a private tour with CityEyes!
We did a private tour of 6 and our guide was personable, knowledgeable, and patient. We enjoyed our time.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour we took with Gianluca. He was full of information, animation, and a great sense of humour! Very professional and engaging! We would highly recommend Gianluca as a tour guide to anyone. Many thanks for a great morning!!
Such a magical experience. Loved the private aspect of our tour and how much great information Elisa provided 10/10 would highly recommend going the private route. Although the tour lasted about 4 hours I would put aside about 6-7 hours so you can also walk around At Peter’s Square and the underground portion
Our guide was fantastic, personable, flexible, and brilliant, wonderful experience and highly recommended
Excellent tour with a great tour guide, Benjamin, and never had to wait in line as you entered the different sites
We had an absolute 5-star experience touring the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica with CityEyes Private Tours. Our guide, Benjamin, was exceptional. His depth of knowledge, passion for history, and engaging storytelling brought the art and architecture to life in a way we couldn’t have imagined. Booking our tour with them was the best decision we made. Benjamin navigated the crowds seamlessly and kept a perfect, relaxed pace. If you’re visiting the Vatican, book with CityEyes and ask for Benjamin.
Amazing tour and we love our guide Gio. She was very knowledgeable and made the day very fun. Despite the 100 degree weather we saw everything we wanted to see and did not have to wait in very many lines. She navigated us through the crowds so we could see everything we wanted to see and we learned so much. It was so much fun and great way to start the day. It is well worth the price.
My family really enjoyed the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, St Peter's Basilica Private Tour. Valeria was a great guide during our visit; was able to adapt our tour to accommodate our 8-year-old daughter. Valeria was a wealth of knowledge.
Alessandro was amazing!! He took his time with our family to really make our experience extra special! Thank you for spending the day with us! Momma Mia!
Pamela took us on a wonderful trip of the Vatican on a very hot day in June. She met us at the hotel as planned and we were taken by private car service to the Vatican where we quest for very short time. The guided tour was planned around our wishes and she could answer all our questions without doubt. She is definitely very dedicated and loves her work. We can only highly recommend her.
Crowd size was extremely (!) large as is the rest of Italy in July. Excessive summer heat compounded the difficulty. Regardless, our experienced guide adapted to the situation and cleverly helped to mitigate the impact on our group, especially the children. I speak genuinely when I say that she was the best in all respects.
My wife and I were in Italy for our honeymoon and we booked a tour with Michela. She was absolutely fantastic! So knowledgeable yet so friendly and easy to talk to throughout the entire tour. We went on an extremely hot day and she made sure to keep us in the shade when she could so everyone was comfortable. She also knew so many shortcuts and was able to get us into some lesser known areas. The entire tour was seamless and we would absolutely book Michela again. Grazie Mille!
Excellent All done at our pace Perfect English Very knowledgeable
Marina was an incredible guide on our private tour which included the Sistine Chapel and Basilica tour. She was very knowledgeable, engaging, and helpful. Would recommend, 10/10
Our tour guide was unbelievable! She was highly knowledgeable and passionate about explaining all details. She had a great energy and made for a top-notch experience.
We toured the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica with Luigi. He was a wealth of knowledge, personable, and so polite! As an archeologist he explained everything in a way that helped us understand everything we were seeing. We learned so much! I would highly recommend touring with Luigi, you won't be sorry! He made us feel like VIP's.
Mirta was wonderful - attentive, thoughtful, knowledgeable, & fun to work with! Our group needed the thoughtfulness and attentiveness. It’s a lot to see and learn about in only a few hours and she paced well and know how to parse and share the top highlights for visitors.
Emanuela, was a 10+ guide! Her vast knowledge and choice of artifacts to highlight doing our tour was so educational. This was such a special and memorable tour of the Vatican..
While it wasn’t our first visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, it was by far the most memorable—for both my family and the family traveling with us. We couldn’t have hoped for a better guide than Rosalba. She made navigating the crowds effortless and brought every room to life with her incredible knowledge, passion, and storytelling. I would highly recommend Eyes of Rome to anyone looking for the best Vatican tour experience imaginable!
Had this tour together with family including a 10-year old. Everything went smoothly. Our guide Alberto was really great - explaining all the history in a way that was interesting for everyone and making sure he understood where to focus. Excellent experience- highly recommended!!!
We had Rosie as our tour guide. We didnt get to see St Peters because it was soohot and really we were so tired after 2 1/2 hrs . she took us thru the Vatican Museums and the sistenth chapel. She was so good, very knowledgable about so much history. She took her time and asked if we had any questions, we did and she answered them all. When we needed to stop for a rest she was great, it was just 3 of us, which was perfect. This small tour with her is the way to go. We wanted to do another tour with her but her schedule didnt work with ours, we were limited. We would highly recommend her!!!
My guide was very knowledgeable and efficiently got me through all the crowds. The skip the line tickets are a must. Great tour.
Excellent private tour guide - Michela - incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and excellent English. Only major disappointment was not having access to St. Peter's due to the Pope's services - completely out of Michela and Tour companies control but would ne nice to have a voucher for future use as 2/3 of private tour was completed.
Worth every penny. Our guide Alessia was so kind and inviting. She showed us everything we wanted to see. We even asked about going through the holy doors at St Peter’s. She said it isn’t normally part of the tour; but she arranged for us to do that during our 4 hour tour.
This tour offers an exceptional experience, especially for those with a curiosity to learn. Led by Giulia, an expert archaeologist, we were provided with an abundance of insightful information throughout the journey. Her expertise and guidance greatly enhanced our visit. We also had the unique privilege of skipping the lines twice, including walking the stairs traditionally used by cardinals, with no other visitors present while the rest of the museum was crowded. For anyone with a deep appreciation for the Vatican and history, this tour is well worth the investment.
Rosie did an amazing job keeping all ages engaged with her knowledge. My mother could not walk that quickly and she went out of her way to accommodate her. It was extremely interesting and well worth taking the tour!
This is a must do in Rome, Be prepared be amazed by the beauty of the 16 Chapel. Our guide was great, she took her time explaining everything, Rome is a museum!
Amazing, the tour would. It have been the same without our guide, she was special, lovely and very passionate and knowledgeable of history.
Private tours are much better than group tours, having done them both. Eyes of Rome booking and instructions were easy to follow.
Eleanora was exceptionally knowledgeable, providing us with a thorough and engaging explanation of everything we encountered, all framed beautifully in its historical context. Her insightful suggestions and guidance enriched our experience tremendously. We are truly grateful to have crossed paths with her and are already looking forward to our next meeting. We will definitely work with Eleanora again and will be enthusiastically recommending her to all our friends!
Our guide Luigi was absolutely outstanding. His academic background in archeology provided us with professional insight into the treasures held in the museums and his well documented notes and diagrams provided extra valuable information. He was engaging and extremely courteous and made our tour a resounding success. Very well done to him for a great day and our thanks.
My wife and I have been to the Vatican numerous times, but this was the first time visiting as an entire family. This was the best way to experience the Vatican and would recommend this tour to both first timers and those that have visited before.
Maria did a wonderful job with this tour! She was knowledgeable and very patient with our little kids. We learned so much today!
Denis was very knowledgeable and we were able to learn a lot in 3 hours. I would highly recommend going to the top of the dome. The climb really wasn’t that bad and there are a few places to rest if you need it. The reward is the best view in Rome.
Luiza was a fantastic guide, making sure we saw all the most important highlights of our tour. She was friendly and very knowledgeable, being able to shader all the questions we had for her. This is a great tour and I highly recommend it.
Katie was just fabulous! We navigated a busy day at the Vatican with ease. She was knowledgeable, personable and fun. My daughter and I highly recommend this tour group and this lovely guide.
Maria was amazing! As an art historian, she was so knowledgeable about every piece of art we saw. She also had some very interesting facts about Michelangelo and the techniques he used in painting the Sistine chapel.
Our guide was great, The Sistine Chapel was awe inspiring. An absolute must see while you are in Rome!
The one on one personal interaction with the guide was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and took the time to explain in great detail the enormity of the Vatican, St Peter’s Basilica, the Rafael rooms and museum. The extra bonus of a private hotel pick up and drop off was exactly what we wanted. We also got a restaurant recommendation La Pollorama and the best caffe in the city Sant Eustachio.
We had an outstanding tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's with Gianluca. He was such a treasure of information, knowledge and passion. And a great sense of humor. Our tour was on our travel day and although my teens were tired, he kept them engaged and interested. Highly recommend the tour and Eyes of Rome. And it was truly skip the line! Which was so greatly appreciated given the heat and that the regular line was more than 90 minutes long.
Rosey was an exceptional guide for me and my daughter through the Vatican Museum and the Basilica. She was extremely personable, knowledgeable and felt like we were being shown around by a friend. I would definitely book the climb to the top of the dome for awesome views of the skyline of Rome. Excellent communication from the day we booked to reminders up to tour day. Highly recommend Eyes of Rome and Rosey!
