Our escort from the Viator office to the Vatican museum was very friendly. Our museum guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.

You could not hear the tour guide. The basilica was closed so we did not even get the entire tour. It was a large group instead of a small group and you could not keep up with the tour guide. Overall very poor. Not even worth a quarter what we paid for it. Was as bad as the one we got for the Amalfi Coast. Both were terrible and extremely disappointing. We never got to finish that one either and had to sign a release. There again we should have some money back.
Too much talking and standing around in the heat looking at nothing. People come to see the main parts not the parts the guide likes.
The tour was delayed an hour and a half. Such an inconvenience. When we got to the tour place very confusing no direction given.
Good communication with provider about meeting place. Our guide was lovely Italy lady Nicolette who was very knowledgeable in all things about the Vatican City. The queues outside the Vatican are very long so this was ideal to get inside quickly. The museum is very big with lots to see but the guards usher everyone through quite quickly so there isn’t much time to take everything in. 33,000 visitors everyday so you move quickly through. So people complained that it was rushed but it’s a 3 hour trip and a big place to get through. Maybe get a private tour or on your own if you want more time. The museum is the first bit that you are kind of rushed through to get to the Sistine chapel which is the showpiece really. To see Michealangelo’s paintings is amazing. So beautiful. You then enter St Peter’s basilica which is also an amazing place, just fabulous! You can spend as much time here as you like as that’s without the guide. In my opinion if you can just see the Sistine chapel and then the basilica, then they are the best places. I would have rather spent more time in those than the museum and would have rather had a tour with information about the basilica as that was spectacular!
Nice tour, group of 20 or so. Not that impressive of information and guide was difficult to understand. Not worth $250 a person.
The tour operator has no problem breaking the Commandments while offering tours of the Vatican. We had a tour scheduled September 10. They changed the tour due to an event a St Peters. No problem. Start time 2:15 pm. Gave us a new location to meet. No Problem. LIE #1 : AFTER the tour started they informed us we would need to EXIT the Vatican, go back to their office. Look above this is not on the description. I would never have booked it if I knew. They kept it from me. LIE #2 - The office is only 5-6 minutes away. It is 1.1 km from St Petes to the office!!! Google it yourself. Then another 1.1 km back to the Vatican. I informed them my father is 84 and this is an impossible 40 minute round trip walk for him. This is a lifetime trip for him and he can not make the walk out and back. I even offered that I would make the walk and he can wait and we can pick him up on the way back. They insisted we all come back. Completely impossible. I spoke to multiple people to make it work, but they would not. I asked for a refund as the tour was not as described. They refused. I called Viator and explained. They went to the tour Operator, multiple times. Lie #3 - The tour operator told them WE TOOK THE TOUR!!!!!!!! so there is no refund. Bottom line is they make money by selling tours of God's House while breaking his rules. They broke Commandment #8 "Thou shalt not steal" by keeping our money and not providing the tour we booked. And Commandment #9 "Thou shall not bear false witness" by saying we took the tour. We know where these people are headed. Book somewhere else.
Most incredible experience! So grateful I got to do the tour what an amazing experience woohoo! Can’t wait to go back again!
We had a great experience at the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. It was very hot and very crowded and the tour guide was amazing at navigating the spaces and finding a spot to move us off to the side while she discussed the space. She was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the tour.
The title is MISLEADING - It was listed as Vatican- not the Vatican MUSEUM. The guide was great but we stood and walked for hours - that should also have been included! I never saw the Vatican during my short visit to Rome - I had hoped that this tour would be perfect. The Sistine Chapel was amazing and the last part of the tour. Had it been listed as The Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel I would have chosen a different option.
I was blown away by this tour. You could tell our guide loved her work and was dedicated to sharing her knowledge with us..
The tour guide was not very good at communicating. He was hard to hear and did not provide facts for each room. I found myself listening to other tour guides nearby.
We had a fantastic time on our tour. Sammy looked after us well and then our tour guide Riccardo did a great job educating and entertaining us for our time through out the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. The pace and amount of information was perfect to allow us to enjoy our time and still understand and remember many of the stories and facts after we were back home. Would recommend.
Five on the way the tour guide took a while to get to assisting chapel, which everyone wanted to see first off then she just let us go free for the Saint peters basilica but she was very informative. It was a real good experience.
This was an amazing way to experience the Vatican- I have been before but my husband has not, so it was great to get all the more niche details! Our guide Eulia (sp?) was very engaging and knowledgeable, and you could tell she was an expert guide!
We had a great guide. I think his name was Jad. Informative and fun. I would recommend this tour to everyone. During this very busy season it was great to skip the line.
Frederick was a great guide. Very knowledgeable, kind and a bit funny at times. The tour was too long for me. There is no exit if you need to depart. I had trouble standing that long. St Peter’s Bascilica is stunning. I wish I had more energy by the time we arrived. I am 66 and reasonably fit but my back makes it hard to stand for so long.
In the middle of the craziness of busy Rome, this tour worked perfectly and we had a wonderful guide: Julia. If you get to do this tour with her, you are in good hands.
Seeing the museums and Sistine Chapel and Basilica are once in a lifetime experiences and skipping the line because of the tour is worth it. However once inside, we would have preferred to explore on our own (we learned and did Colosseum that way). Guide focused on lots of things that had nothing to do with what we were seeing. However, no matter what, taking in these 3 places in one tour is a lot and going back in the off season to do one at a time would be my recommendation. It was also 100 deg F.
This was a great tour. It was a 1730 tour and it was not very crowded inside the We had a small group of 7 people and we didn't feel rushed at anytime. It was easy to get around and we were able to take some photos without other people in them. Our tour guide, Jad, was great. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Sadly, the Basilica was closed so we didn't get to go in during the tour. I highly recommend this tour. Go later in the day and avoid the overcrowding.
My wife and daughter and I were unable to attend the tour because of the dress code. No where on the website was it listed that shoulders and knees had to be covered. This should be mentioned when purchasing the tickets.
Our tour guide was knowledgeable and kind. The venue itself should have had more crowd control and spaced out the number of people in certain areas due to the size of the rooms. It was hard to follow our tour guide in some cases due to shoulder to shoulder people. I don't think it was safe in some area if there were an emergency. And it was impossible to see everything due to the number of people allied in at the same time.
To be clear - we were removed from this tour and moved onto a large group tour. So our review is for the larger group tour. Pros - the company tried to work with us to accommodate our changing travel plans Cons - they started 30 minutes before they said and we were almost “late”, very frantic start to tour, huge group, St. Peter’s was closed so we were unable to see it Sadly, we paid for a smaller group tour and we did not get that experience.
Federico was absolutely amazing tour guide! Full of information and very friendly. Love the tour and learnt a lot! Grazie Mille!!
This tour would have been worth it if only for the ease with which our group avoided the tremendous line. But it was excellent because our guide, Federico, was at ease, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The crowds were nearly overwhelming but the headsets through which Federico spoke made the experience not only manageable but also informative. He also took us to parts of the museum that are off the beaten path.
Federico : Our tour guide in "English" is very friendly and explain very well and clear in all aspects of the tour
We had visit Vatican Museums Sistine Chapel and Vatican Basilica. Had a fantastic tour, it was not enough time to know about everything, The guide was extremely knowledge. For some of the books what he been mention I should pay more attention to remember. If by any chance he will be able to read this review , I would kindly ask him to give me name of those books. His historical knowledge is impressive. It was an unforgettable tour that will forever remain in my memory. Please, send my highers rating for guide ( sorry I forget his name, shame of me) - tour was on 28/10/22 at 15.00. Thank you a lot . Juila ( Belgium)
Fred the tour guide was the best. Very informative and funny. He covered the popular sites but also other areas too.
The Vatican and Sistine Chapel exceeded any notions of what you see in pictures. Guide took his time on detail and history- learned quite a bit.
Fred was great! He explains the history of everything so well. He’s also very funny! He answered any questions we had. You can tell he is very knowledgeable. Checking in for the tour start time was a bit chaotic with many groups meeting outside of one tiny shop.
Beautiful. The tour was very nice. Gabriel was excellent. I really recommend a tour with him as a guide. The tour was a bit pricey.
Hi, Jad Gianni Bartin is the best ❤️❤️❤️ This was a wonderful excursion, highly recommended! Thank you for this wonderful experience!
Our tour guide Gabriel, was very informative and we were able to learn things we never knew. I would advise an earlier tour, ours was at 15:00, because the exhibits begin closing down at 17:00. Other than the timing, the tour was great.
We had a fabulous tour today of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. Marta our tour guide was brilliant. Very knowledgable and gave a really great tour with loads of facts and was very happy to answer any questions. It was great that after the tour we were offered the choice to go back in to the museum if we wanted longer, a nice touch I thought. We didn't, we went straight on to the Basilica as we had seen everything we wanted to. This is a great tour for everyone, easy pace. no hard stairs, great shop to pick up any gifts and loads of toilets and places to rest. 😊😊
Went on a tour, I enjoyed it very much and was great to see it all and have an experienced guide that was very kind and helpful, thank you
My family and I went on the Vatican tour. We had a great time. A very long, thorough, in depth and insightful tour. We got to see all the main highlights, and our guide was very knowledgeable. It’s a must do and I highly recommend for everyone, and this is coming from a high maintenance, old white American guy!!
We were so lucky to have had a private tour with Andrea. She was very informative about art, statues and ancient history. We would recommend her to anyone wanting an unforgettable Vatican Museum and Sistene Chapel tour.
It was great, entertaining, professional and very funny. A great woman, a great place with so much world history. Great. Thank you Chiara. Your German family today with our two teenagers.
These attractions are unmissable when in Rome, if you didn't visit them when you were there did you even go to Rome? Chiara Antonelli was our tour guide and her in-depth knowledge coupled with her experience as a guide really brought the artwork to life. To maximise her expertise I would recommend the semi-private tour as opposed to any other. There is such a vast wealth of art in the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel is breathtaking and St. Peter's Basilica will leave you in awe. Pictures simply do not do them justice so book a tour with Chiara and let her guide you through each one. She will provide you with interesting facts about the artwork, sculptures and paintings in a light-hearted and all-round pleasant yet informative tour. Enjoy, you're welcome!
Chiara was Very good guide, we saw Very nice ancient items! Would Highly recommend! Very happy much good! Big thumbs up! You should also go this very nice tour! Nothing to complain about very nice
The guide did not speak fluent Spanish, it made us dizzy and I did not like listening to it through the headset as it was not clear. It is a tour that you can do alone
We did a semi-private tour for the Vatican the guide was very good we loved it. Giulia a girl from the city Rome tour staff was kind enough to call us and warn us that the time had been brought forward. Very kind and polite thank you again
Very interesting tour, mandatory if you come to Rome to visit the city. Interesting explanations of Federico!
Very nice guide very professional I was two hours on a Vatican tour with my 8-year-old and although he did not understand Italian he was very enjoying and stayed with good experiences. She controls English smoothly.
