We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of this beautiful part of the city that we otherwise Iwould not have seen. Our guide was personable, knowledgeable, and really brought the artwork to life with all of its political and social context. The amount of walking was just about right, and the tour of Tor Marancia was absolutely inspiring! Please send me a copy of the book when you find it!!
After seeing all of the typical Roman sites, we chose this tour of street art in the Garbatella & Tor Marancia. It was an informative and interesting way to spend a morning in less visited neighborhoods. The tour consists of 2.5 hours of standing and walking, (with a brief cafe stop) at a gentle pace, so it’s suitable for multiple ages/abilities. Our guide, Ricardo, was fabulous. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to converse with. This is a great tour for when you’ve seen enough antiquities, and want to learn a bit about modern Rome, it’s current culture, art and inhabitants.
Amazing experience. Very friendly and knowledgeable guide. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
Enjoy a lovely, fun , and informative street art tour with Annalisa! A good history of one of Rome's newer neighborhoods from the early Twentieth Century, where much of the street art is located. Thank you, Annalisa!
The Street Art Tour with Annalisa in Ostiense and Garbatella truly added something special to our Roman holiday experience. The two neighborhoods we visited were historically fascinating (focus on modern history), showcased unique pieces of street art, and offered a glimpse into the authentic everyday lives of Romans today. Annalisa is the perfect guide —knowledgeable, enthusiastic, helpful, calm, composed and her storytelling is well-paced. My boyfriend and I would definitely recommend this tour!
This was one of the best things we did in Rome so far. We have been here many times and wanted to see some non-touristic parts of Rome. Lisa showed us the street art of Garbatella which was just so interesting. She has a lot of knowledge about history and art and took so much time to explain everything. There was only the two of us on this day - we felt very special.
It has been amazing to discover Garbatella and Tor Arancia with Annalisa. She has a great knowledge about street art and linking historical events made precious and enriching. She is kind and sweet which make all the experience light and fun. I really recommend to book the street art tour with Annalisa in Garbatella
We like the explanations and history of the street art in two different neighborhoods. Our guide, Lisa did a wonderful job showing the different styles of the two neighborhoods. She even called a taxi for us and stayed with us until the taxi arrived.
The tour with Lisa was just amazing. I appreciate the informative perspective on how the murals were created and the history of the neighbourhood. The tour was rich with history and spots m that are rarely captured by tourists. Lisa made the tour engaging too, and she was kind and offered coffee and lovely tips on the way . I highly recommend this tour for anyone who likes art and looking for unique places in Rome beyond touristic crowded spots. I loved this tour and highly recommend it, as it is full of history combined with contemporary reality of the neighbourhood. Everything is as described and beyond expectations.
I arrived by taxi at exactly 10am to the metro station and no one was there. I didn’t receive a note or message the tour was cancelled
Lisa was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. She was also attuned to our needs both physical as both myself and my brother do not have the stamina of young travellers. Her ability to link the social history of the Garbatella neighbourhood with the murals and street art was great. As a retired curator who has worked with many street artists, I was also very pleased that she knew the names of all the artists. I highly recommend.
Lisa , the tour guide , was kind , patient , professional & knowledgeable . Very easy to follow along & ask questions . Our visit to Rome was amazing seeing the typical sight seeing areas , but to get a lesson on a piece of the history of the culture & art of 2 of its neighborhoods , Garbatella & Tor Marancia ; and the background of the street art history and how it relates to the peoples ; made our trip 100 times more amazing . Thank you for offering this tour .
hot tip: when visiting Florence, Venice, and Rome bring your sister with a PhD in art history. So sister Jill with the PhD hired Anna Lisa for the street art tour. Like my educated sister Anna Lisa was informed, helpful, and a pleasure to be with for several hours. As we were only 2, Anna Lisa drove us around in her car. Both sister and I have some walking challenges (mine were two logging injuries, Jill had a failed hip replacement). Anna Lisa was a joy. Smiling and chock o'block full of good contextual history. She answered all my questions and was surprising with concrete , specific, and pointed answers. Clearly her heart was in her work. She was enthusiastic knew her subject thoroughly. Besides knowing the street art, she was conversant about local architecture, politics, the qualities of each neighbourhood. thank you Anna Lisa david boulding gold river bc CANADA
Amazing murals & street art , with lots of history . Lisa is kind , professional, and knowledgeable .
Visit the museum that hides in plain sight on this truly one-of-kind street art tour! Expertly guided by the kind and amazing Lisa, you’ll wander the road less traveled through the safe and historic suburban neighborhoods marked by these iconic pieces just outside the beating heart of Rome! Discover breathtaking, larger-than-life murals crafted by artists from all over the world. The size of apartment buildings, they hold deep and poignant messages hidden high and low. Lisa is the best guide ever and her knowledge of the area is extensive, surpassed only by her passion for the city she truly loves. You will not find this tour anywhere else! Whether you’re new to Rome or have seen it all, this is a moving, powerful and charming cultural experience that’s not to be missed and won’t be forgotten!
This tour exceeded our expectations! The guide showed us around three areas away from the usual tourists' routes. The murals we admired, as well as the architecture, tell so much about the city's contemporary history. Very interesting to know the stories behind the street art. The guide was super friendly.
Lisa made us discover the street art of 2 neighborhoods and with, the lives of its inhabitants. Lisa knows her subject and shares it with passion. I recommend. Thanks, Lisa.
Highly recommended! Informative and interesting from start to finish 🤩 If you want to know more about current Rome, you should participate 🔝 (Additional info: Lisa knows wells everywhere to fill up his water bottle, knows where to take toilet breaks and always finds a pleasant place in the shade from which to see the artworks well.) Thank you ☺️
The street art tour with Lisa was very special! Lisa was an unbeatable great guide and shared her extensive knowledge with us. Recent Roman history, no less interesting and worth seeing than what you get in “Old” Rome. Highly recommended! Thank you Lisa
Great street art tour with Lisa! 👩🎨 It was super informative and super well conducted. You learn a lot about artists, works, outlying areas of Rome in a Great Mood. Must do for a global vision of the city I recommend 100%! 🎨✨
My friend and I had a wonderful experience with Lisa. We drove around by car to the various art manifestations, which was nice, and gave the feeling of getting to know Lisa a little. She's talented, committed, and a lovely person. And can one really wish for more than to have local contact with a sympathetic and skilled person when traveling? We don't think so. Lisa gets all five stars in here.
Beautiful presentation of the trip and harmony between people, in particular and original places. Discovering unconventional aspects of the city has been enriching
Really cool tour with great host. The entire Garbatella district is also worthwhile. There were a lot of exciting insights into the whole street art, a relaxed start with espresso and delicious pastries as well as good tips for Rome. Really good experience, which we are happy to recommend ❤️
The walk was very pleasant and the murals are spectacular: real works of art. Lisa gave us an infectious enthusiasm and made us see Rome from a completely new perspective, away from the usual paths... I highly recommend it to anyone who loves art, the city and to spend a different day
A walk of about three hours that showed unexpected murals! The outskirts of Rome hide structures from the early 20th century in plain sight, witnesses of the social history of this city. Interesting and exhaustive, advice.
Thanks for the interesting, fun and entertaining tour! I learned a lot about the history and people of the two neighborhoods and saw impressive works of art. I particularly liked the fact that we had a conversation with residents. Lisa has a sympathetic and open-minded nature that made it easy to immerse herself in this art form.
