Our guide Bridget was fantastic—engaging, enthusiastic, and delivered the story in a truly captivating way.
It has taken me a while to write this review but we are now home from our trip which was wonderful apart from this tour! We booked our visit to St Peter’s and the Cupola believing it to be a way of avoiding the long queues that now exist as we had limited time. We followed our guide to St Peter’s with the rest of the group only to find that we joined the end of the queue which already had a wait of about 2 hours before our 2 hour tour! When we questioned the guide she said nobody skips the line in a dismissive and defensive way. We had to leave as we had another commitment and had assumed that we would be finished in the 2 hour time frame stated in the ad. I checked the details of the booking afterwards and it said it was a 2 hour tour, nowhere did it say that was after queuing to get in! We were so disappointed and felt that we had been completely ripped off. I had believed Viator to be a reputable company but will not use them again.
Valentina B was excellent Perfect French and very funny A lot of informative and interesting stories. I recommend Thank you
Eleanora was excellent! A great tour. Very informative and worthwhile. Especially the details regarding the Popes ans Saints.
Going early in the morning before the rush, is the best way to see the true beauty of the space. The light was magical.
Do not book on TripAdvisor. I booked this tour with the option to cancel 24 hrs prior to the start. I had to cancel and tried to cancel several times 48 hours before the tour. The TripAdvisor website just gives you “oops an error” when you try to cancel. I am still trying to find out who in their customer service can refund me as of course they charged me. This is not what you want to deal with while on an international vacation. Save yourself the headache.
Really enjoyed the tour with Irina, who was very entertaining, immensely knowledgeable and therefore very informative. The Medicis were quite a family, it seems, and we left interested enough to want to read more. This was well organised - probably the easiest entry we had to a Florence venue (some were exasperatingly slow, mind you) - and despite it being a drizzly day we still got decent views from the top. Would not have been the same without Irina's commentary. She must also be one of the fittest women in Florence if she climbs those steps several times a week! Alison and Derek, London
This was an excellent tour- a little expensive at £50/ person but Irina the tour guide was knowledgeable and personable. The climb to the top of the Duomo is not for the faint hearted but the view of rhe city and the frieze at the top of the dome is worth the 463 steps.
My friends and I partecipated to the Dome private tour which was absolutely fantastic. The beauty of the Florence Dome is well-known all over the world but if you really want to understand all the "hows and the whys" behind the story, this tour is warmly adviced. Our guide, Irina, was really prepared, she told us the whole story and she's never been boring! A +++
It was a great experience to visit the Dome with Irina. She is very knowledgeable and has a true passion for Florence. She told us all the facts and historic background, but, and that made it all the more enjoyable, in a funny and relatable way. We definetely recommend booking the Tour!
Top courtesy, unique experience recommended
A very competent tour with historically interesting facts.
Very friendly and informative.
Guide Andrea shares more personal stories than information about St. Peter's Basilica. The stated time of the tour is incorrect. There was a problem with the entrance to the dome. She did not take care of it.
Andrea has us perfectly informed about all the sights. Was very entertaining and professional!
The guide was clear and provided us with a lot of information. Helpful and kind.
Beautiful visit with our guide Elie
We had a guided tour of an amazing young woman, Anna. She spoke perfect English, was incredibly knowledgeable and spoke in a very both understandable and extremely interesting way. That she could also get a lot of humor and exciting anecdotes into her story was fantastic . Anna also showed a very nice attention to each individual participant, we were 12. We can only warmly recommend Anna. Helle and Majbrit from Denmark
Very interesting and well organized experience
We had a great tour 🤩 It was well organized & understandable! We had a waiting time at the security checkpoint of about 50 min, which passed super fast with our guide. Thank you very much 🫶 St. Peter's Basilica is really impressive!
Very friendly guide, the visit went very well, with hints of humor very appreciated. To do.
No Fastlane. The tour was poorly organized. You had to wait in line for the tickets for 2 hours. The guide only had to buy the tickets after a long queue at the ticket office, although the tour was already long pre-booked. The technical equipment did not work, the guide was almost inaudible. The guide talks to us like children In terms of content, the information was superficial, very poor and not very informative. She often explained nothing and was often on WhatsApp on her phone and/or simply explained nothing. We were very disappointed.
Anna was a great and dedicated guide and didn't let the traffic jam caused by the Prince of Sweden get her off her feet.
Anna has a great knowledge, which she shared with much joy. We learned a lot and had fun. Gladly again
Great guided tour of St. Peter's Basilica and the dome. Very good explanation of the history of the various attractions.
The visit to St. Peter's Square, including St. Peter's Basilica and the ascent of the dome, was very impressive in itself and an experience not to be missed. However, the tour guide did not manage to keep an eye on the “big picture”, but often “got bogged down” in small things. Among other things, little information on the origin of St. Peter's Square and St. Peter's Basilica was conveyed, but much more about religious topics. The design of the visit to St. Peter's Basilica also needed improvement. Instead of standing in the entrance area for about 30 minutes and only showing photos on a tray, the sights in the building should be visited directly.
A great tour with many impressions. The guide was very passionate and full of positive energy. Anytime again
It was a very interesting and passionate tour. Very attentive and good narrator. Very good German language. Good to understand.
Beautiful, amazing experience. Climbing to the dome is not so demanding and worth it. The view is exciting. The church and its history too. Goose bumps.
The tour with Anna was really great, she made the tour a beautiful memory through her own experiences, knowledge and charming manner.
We had a wonderful guided tour with Anna. She did it perfectly, her German was flawless, she was very charming, absolutely recommended.
We had a great tour in St. Peter's Basilica with Anna. She made the tour wonderful and warm. You can feel that she loves her city and her job as a tour guide. She presented us with all the details of St. Peter's Basilica in a great way and gladly answered all questions. Thank you very much Anna
Anna was great! The tour was very professional and interesting. Alkes was very well organized. We are very satisfied and recommend Anna!
Starting from St. Peter’s Square, over the cathedral and the associated works of art, the view on the dome offered a special conclusion to a great guided tour.
The tour with Anna was great, great, great. She loves to report and it was nice to listen to her. Great leadership. Great WOMAN 💙 Grazie Anna
Valentina is very prepared and nice, the explanation is very clear. A great experience that I highly recommend.
Interesting visit and thanks to the help of the guide, Valentina, everything makes sense. He explained to us in a clear, funny and stimulating a little of the history and treasures contained. Very happy with the experience and the choice made. Recommended activity
A beautiful guided tour with a fondness and euphoria for this city sparkling guide, Anna . Thank you Anna!
Anna is a wonderful guide who shows her love for this city but especially for this stunning church.
It was super interesting :-), humorous and versatile. Thanks for this wonderful tour, we will definitely come back.
Very nice and detailed. Very competent guide, the basilica of course is beautiful. Despite the many people, it was no problem to see everything.
We did the guided tour with Valentina, very prepared and very nice. Perfect guide for Italian groups or Spanish groups. Bravo 😀👍
We went as a family, 2 children , it was a very good experience, very emotional, Valentina explained us super well and with very interesting data and surprises. kept the interest of the children, even though it is a tired visit for them, we loved climbing to the dome , it is impressive!!!!
Our guide, Valentina, (I did the tour in Spanish) knew how to tell a lot and did it in a fun, interactive way. We entered through another entrance, making the church look even more impressive upon entering!
A unique experience advice , the guide very nice and above all very prepared and available to any clarification
According to our ticket provider (not Italy Pass directly), the tour should take about 1 h, but in total we were then 4.5 h on/in St. Peter's Basilica. There are headphones for each person so you can hear what the guide tells you everywhere along the way (reception was okay). The hour-long wait in line has made our great guide Anna seem much shorter through all her knowledge. Even in the extremely ornately decorated cathedral with hundreds of sculptures, mosaics & facades, she told so much exciting, flexibly responded to all wishes/problems for 2.5 hours and even involved the participating children quite well. We climbed into the dome alone, as the rest of the group took the elevator. The view was fantastic. After the 550 steps and the unexpectedly long visit we were very flat, hungry, thirsty & happy!
We toured with Valentina, the explanation was very clear and always with very interesting data. We loved the explanation!!
Great experience! Congratulations to Guide Valentina, for her availability, experience and skill! Thank you for helping me visit the Dome... Thanks and congratulations Valentina.
Valentina was an excellent guide. He provided a lot of information to understand what we were seeing and was very friendly throughout the tour.
