Begin your visit to the Vatican Museums at your own pace with this self-guided audio tour. Start in the Gallery of the Tapestries, admiring the intricate designs and vibrant colors while learning about their history and craftsmanship. Move on to the Gallery of the Candelabra, where classical motifs and sculptural details tell stories of ancient Rome and papal commissions. Then wander through the Gallery of Maps, listening to insights about the regions depicted and the artistry behind each fresco. Next, enter Raphael’s Rooms and pause before The School of Athens. Discover the figures, ideas, and techniques that make this masterpiece so iconic. Your audio guide will also highlight works by other Renaissance artists, like Pinturicchio, revealing how they created depth and perspective on flat walls. The highlight of your visit is the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo’s masterpiece. Immerse yourself in its stunning frescoes depicting stories from the Bible, including the iconic Creation of Adam. Photography and talking are not allowed, but your audio guide gives you time to fully appreciate the chapel’s breathtaking beauty and artistic brilliance.

We booked tickets for the Vatican through get your guide, which used this company. Easy to find the office and quick and easy ticket reciept, and lots of information to make sure we knew where we were going. Just very expensive, but that’s our mistake for not booking the Vatican through the official website in advanced.
The description promised "skip-the-line" priority tickets. This was not what was provided. There was a long wait queuing in the street under the sun with the tour agent. The tour agent purchased regular museum entry tickets for the participants once inside the museum. We were handed over to a guide, who procured audio equipment from the museum to distribute to the participants. All in all, it took about 75 min from the indicated starting time to actually begin the tour. The guide was engaging and told many interesting stories, but there was not so much time for details or questions. It was a whirlwind tour since the museum was closing in 1 hour 20 min after the walking tour started, and entry to the Sistine Chapel closed 30 min before that. So all in all, the actual walking tour lasted for about 40-45 min, followed by about 30 min visiting the Sistine Chapel on your own and time for gift shop visit.
The tour was thorough and enjoyable despite the lines. Our guide Leonardo was fantastic, was knowledgeable and kept things moving while making sure we were able to appreciate the beauty.
Fast entry as promised. The guide was entertaining and had good knowledge of the artifacts and the art. Everything went as promised.
Our tour guide Leonardo, is an enthusiastic person ! And he introduced Ventican City 、church really detail and fantastic! How a wonderful trip here!
Leonardo our guide, was a super guide, funny and very educated. Why only four stars? Too much information and tok much to see for 3 hours. But Big thumbs up for Leonardo. he managed to stat focused, to keep everyone together and to point out the most important information. I recommend!
That‘s been amazing experience, Leonardo was really friendly and give us good recommendations for food and other places.
We have an excellent tour guide in our Vatican tour, Leonardo who gave us useful and complete explanation about everithing.
Excellent guide, full of knowledge, patience and kindness. Best tour ever !! And it was a super wonderful and amazing tour!!!!
Terrible experience! Tour started late, museum was so packed, even with the ear piece you couldn’t hear the guide. The group kept getting split up, so we were always waiting for people; with all that it ended up being rushed.
The tour was long, crowded and hot. Many treasures to be seen but 3 hours of slowly walking through the museums was tough with no A/C in there and little air movement. Our guide was pretty good but the headsets were not the best in that the earpiece was in one ear only and there was a lot of extraneous noise from the throngs of people packed into each room. When the tour guide got too far away reception was lost. It became overstimulating. My only goal was to see the Sistine Chapel. This was interesting from an art history standpoint but not close to as impressive as St. Peters Basilica. Were I to do it again, I would appreciate St. Peters Square, wander around St. Peters Basilica and definitely do the dome climb. Absolute highlight of the day for only 10 euros. I would save the money put toward the Vatican Museum tour for another purpose.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly but unfortunately I don’t think many people could understand him he spoke too fast. We were rushed through the whole thing and didn’t get to enjoy much of it. Money absolutely wasted.
Good to skip lines during high seasons, however guide went to fast no good for appreciating in details or for kids due to tour speed.
We were told it would be a 2:15 hour tour starting at 3:30pm; tour was closer to 1:30 hours (1:45 tops) including the 20-30 mins it took to get into the Vatican. What’s great is they are somewhat organized about getting you passed the line and into the Vatican. Our tour guide then spent 30 minutes outside in the courtyard walking us through some of the text of the signs. Then she obviously mismanaged our time and we had to brisk walk (I’m talking not a single stop, just walking as fast as possible) through the Vatican museum so we could get to the Sistine chapel before it closed. We spent less than 90 seconds in the Sistine chapel (which is unbelievably beautiful) so we didn’t even get to enjoy this thing we rushed to. Also you could barely hear the tour guide as she had it the mic pinned to her shirt instead of holding it and speaking into it. I’m giving 2 stars since the people / tour guide were nice; but this was just clearly mismanaged. Felt a bit ripped off. The Basilica steals the show over anything you’ll see in this tour.
Fabulous visit. Crowded and hot in July but worth it. Skip the line is the only way to go! Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting.
Book with OTHER tour provider! Strongly NOT recommended with ROME TOUR TICKETS as a provider. 1) Our tour time was changed, made it impossible for us to join because we had to catch our flights. 2) Attitude of the tour provider staff (Indian guy): TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, HE CAN ALWAYS RESELL THE TICKETS. The WORST kind of a human, who’s rude and UNWILLING TO HELP (he just kept saying the same sentences like a broken robot, just to get over it). USELESS!
The guide was nowhere to be found as soon as we entered the museums. We kept rushing to catch up and couldn't find them. In trying to find them, we couldn't even properly see anything in the museums. They didn't even care to ensure the group was together. When asked for a refund, since this didn't prove to be anything close to the experience or expectation for which we paid hundreds, we got a blatant no from the company. DO NOT take the tour with this company.
The meeting point and tour structure was good. After gathering at the tour office the group of 24 lwere assigned numbers and headsets. We were then walked several minutes to the Vatican Museum entrance. There was a long line to get through security, Inside the entrance we waited while the tour guide got the tickets. We then waited to get the headsets. So, a lot of waiting but it all went very smoothly and all the different tour guides seem to know the system and work together. The headsets were helpful for hearing in the massive crowd. The guide was knowledgeable. The crowds made this tour very long. Plan for extra time. Bring water as it is hot and humid .
We were in a group of 24 people, started from one of Rome tour office. Walked to Vatican city entrance where waited about 15 minutes in the skip-line queue till we got in. It was rather smooth and things were well taken care. The tour guide lady was explaining every steps via radios we got at entry point All in all it was a nice experience, though the area is huge and it takes lots of time to go through, so we had to skip some parts. One improvement would be to use some sort of microphone holder so the .mic would stay closer to the guide's mouth, since it was a bit difficult to hear her time to time.
A beautiful place to visit! However, the tour operators over sold it and was rushed, very, very overcrowded and hot!
I wouldn't recommend this tour. We had to be very very early to claim our tickets and then had to wait approx 45 minutes before the tour started. The the initial tour guide was quite rude. We were then handed to another tour guide, who was very difficult to understand and moved way to quickly to see anything. We only spent approx 3 minutes inside the Sistine chapel. We did other tours in busy rome that we rated highly, this one was not the case.
The tour operator was disorganized, and rude… to many of the people checking in with their vouchers. The listening devices were a terrible design (over one ear) and it was difficult to hear what the Guide was saying. My son’s device and two other people in our groups devices ran out of their charge half way through the tour. Overall, not a pleasant experience for our once in a lifetime tour together.
The tour company personnel were not very friendly, noncommunacative, and disorganized. We waited for half an hour at the museum ticket office while they argued with the staff about our tickets. The tour guide was difficult to understand and did not share any interesting information and mostly just pointed out museum art, never stopping for questions. We were left to go in the Sistine Chapel on our own and we had to see St. Peter’s Basilica on our own afterwards.
This company is super unprofessional. You need to find another compnay to give you this tour. Rude and lack of professionalism.
It was crowded coz it's peak but the guide was knowledgeable and booking tour just makes everything easy
The check-in was a bit chaotic. We had a tour scheduled for 1130 and upon arriving at the office we were asked to provide documentation for the under-18 members of our group to qualify for for reduced entry pricing. Luckily we had photos of passports on our phones because there was nothing in the literature that said it was required. The tour states over an hour late. At that point it was difficult to discern whether it was the tour operators or the ticket office at the museum who couldn’t get organized. We did skip the line though so that was a promise kept. The next issue involved a shortage of the earpieces that allow for participants to hear their tour guide. We gave up two in order to get the show on the road. From there things were relatively ok. The museum was very crowded and warm. Not surprising for this time of year but pack your water and patience. The museum itself is amazing and the Sistine Chapel is a beautiful place. Just be prepared for the tour to go long and for the crowds.
This company attempted to cancel our tour at 930 pm the night before claiming the guide was sick. It would have ruined our three day stay. After remonstration a new guide was miraculously found and the tour put back on at the last moment. Others in the group were equally distressed. The tour operators appear not too be Italian and have an air of disfunction and chaos. In the end our Russian Italian guide was great. All is well that ends well, but I would never use this out fit again. Buyer beware.
Extremely disorganized. Tour operators were either rude or incompetent. Arrived at 11am as instructed, told to return at 11:30, then stood in the sun until 12:15. Arriving at the museum was a complete mess - the group was too large and the guide was very hard to keep up with - then, we had to stand around again because the operator did not purchase sufficient number of headsets for the group. (Which was resolved when some of the participants offered to go without). The tour guide herself was very good, but I would never go with this company again.
There are so many tour companies, so if you prefer to pay for a tour, I suggest you use one of the others and do not use RomeTours. The RomeTours company employees were extremely rude, unfriendly, and impatient. We paid approximately $99 per person and when we checked in they said our 15 year old needed to have his passport or we had to pay again for him. This was nowhere in my email confirmation or on my voucher. They insisted it was in the fine print during the booking process, that it isn’t on my voucher or email confirmation, and that they don’t have time to deal with showing me where it actually said our 15 year old needed his passport, and that if I didn’t read all the fine print when booking that it was my fault and they would not help. They kept talking over me, rapidly, and wouldn’t let me speak to get clarity. They also demanded to know why we were walking around Italy without our passports. Then they dismissed us. We ultimately had a picture of my nephews passport that they accepted without really even looking at it. I truly think their hope was that they would get to keep our $387 and we would not be able to do the tour. The tour itself was mediocre at best, pretty fast and we were not granted the time to stop to really take in all the art we were passing by. Our tour guide was great (different from the company and we were passed off to her by the company after they got us all inside) but she was at the front pointing out things we could not see if we were at the back of our group and by the time we were passing by she was on to something else and we had to keep up or get lost because it was so crowded. It was also incredibly hot out (98F), which made it hard to focus on anything but how hot you were. The only real benefit to this was that, with the tour guide, we were able to bypass the long line of people who were waiting to enter for free. Despite that long line, I highly recommend not paying for a tour. Wait in line, pick up the self-guided audio headset (there may be a small fee for that) and walk through to see everything at your own pace. And I suggest not going June-September if you can help it.
Don’t waste your money! We arrived at the shop location the staff were rude and shambolic, hard to believe they had organised tours before! We left to get to the Vatican museum to meet our guide, she was nice and pleasant but the tour felt extremely rushed and her knowledge was basic, pointing things out rather than giving the history behind it. I’d rather of brought a standard ticket and took our time admiring the museum at our own pace. Would not recommend!
Extremely bad and unprofessional company. Out time was 12:30 pm, they changed to 2:30 pm, later they changed to 3 pm. The guide was also not well versed with English but he tried, I appreciate him but everything was rushed because there was very less time and Basilicas door closes at 5 pm, so in order to reach there the guide completely skipped the Sistine Chappel explanation, which is not his fault but the tour company’s fault. We paid so much money but were not satisfied.
The tour felt rushed, we were walking through the Vatican museum without many stops (probably stopped 2 times) so it was extremely hard to appreciate it. The headphones we were provided with were not good enough to clearly hear the guide - we probably heard 30% of the information provided. The only good thing was the skip-the-line perk. Overall, I suggest you do not purchase any tours but only get the skip-the-line option and explore yourself. Definitely not worth the money to get the tour.
I’ve booked numerous tours through Viator in several different countries but unfortunately I was extremely disappointed with this one. While touring the Vatican our guide was extremely slow paced and kept yelling at our group to “stay close”. We were clumped together and moving so slowly that several of the guards in the museum also yelled at us for clogging up the flow of traffic and stopping at inappropriate places. This made the experience extremely distracting. Our guide spoke more about staying together as a group and moving slowly than he did the museum. Completely not worth the money spent and really unsatisfactory. I’m going to think twice now before booking guided tours.
Great tour guide for Vatican and they give you info about the Sistine Chapel before entering since it's a place of silence. The tour is slightly rushed through because crowds f people are passing so you must walk along. The highlight, in our opinion, was St. Peter's.
Beautiful place, but a waste of time and money. Basically get rushed right through the museum without a chance to actually look at anything. If you stop to look at something for 30 seconds, you lose your group. Overcrowded and unenjoyable. Ear pieces were poor quality also, so could barely hear our tour guide. Wouldn't recommend for the price
Explanations of the.selected art …guide was very accommodating re older people in the group… guide was clear and concise …
Had a late start but that was still counted as the tour time so the whole tour was less than 2.5hrs and felt really rushed. Had not much time to enjoy and look around.
Hi guys,Many thanks for the Vatican visit today! It was wonderful and Rudi was great guide. 🥳😁😂
Guide was fantastic, but I paid for a small group tour. How does a tour that has over 20 people qualify as small?
It was a great tour with a lot of knowledge about Vatican Museum. We learned a lot during the tour. Eugene was great sharing with us all the information about Sistine’s Chapel. We loved the way he explained perfectly all the paintings and statues. An amazing experience!!!
It was an excellent and flawless tour. We are so delighted that we certainly intend to come again and enjoy an extensive tour further. Our local tour Operator "Dtravco" helped us thoroughly to choose such tours through such amazing operators like yours locally.
It was a nice experience and the price was good. The guide was great and spoke clearly with nice accent.
Brilliant guide very informative and knowledgeable. I would definitely use this company again the group was small
What an amazing trip to do. Tour guide Margaret very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her topic. A very easy way to see the Vatican museums and Sistine chapel otherwise you would miss quite a lot. Included entrance into St Peter’s Basilica which you did at your own leisure but saved you waiting in a queue to get in.
was very good, well organized i highly recommended this tour it not that expensive and you can see lots without waiting in queue for long time
The tour group was easy to get to and meet prior to the tour. Our assigned tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant as a guide. Answered all questions and provided a detailed and well organized tour. I highly recommend this tour and tour group.
Our Guide at the Vatican was awesome very in-depth. I would recommend this to anyone visiting rome for the first time
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour with my family. Sistine chapel and Vatican Museum is spectacular. This was my third time doing this tour. Can’t recommend enough.
Was fortunate to book a private tour and it was a great experience. The host was extremely knowledgeable and well worth with the extra money. Highly recommend!
