Itinerary
The Vatican History Museum is just one part of the impressive Vatican Museums. Founded by Pope Paul in 1973, the collection of the Historical Museum was originally located under a square garden. It was not until 1987 that it was moved to the main floor of the Lateran Apostolic Palace and reopened to the public in March 1991. The Vatican City Museums began their activities in 1503 by the then Pope Julius. The museum's selection of works grew from private to public collections of rich families, former popes and the future pope. The Vatican Museums grew when the wide variety of collections required more buildings to house the works and this led to the Vatican Museum of History.
When visiting the Sistine Chapel, what catches people's attention is not its architecture, but the frescoes that completely cover the walls and ceiling. The Sistine Chapel is the pope's own chapel, the site of the pope's most important ceremonies and is used by the Holy College of Cardinals to elect a new pope when a seat becomes vacant. But when the chapel is not in use for practical reasons, tourists from all over the world flock to the chapel, all eager to catch a glimpse of the magnificent paintings hidden inside.

The vatacan museum and chapel are a lovely experience to walk around however this "fast track" ticket is an absolute scam! Booked for 11am entry, and was asked to arrive 20 minutes before to collect my tickets. Arrived at 10.45 to be told we have to wait until 11.15 to walk to another place to collect tickets...also started suggesting we should actually visit the basilica (which is a free attraction and had nothing to do with the ticket) and then go the the vatacan museum later. After waiting around we walked over to another place to get a ticket, then the guide walked us over to the security line and told us to go in lane 3 the security man looked at our tickets and told us to get in the line (that was massive) the guide said just wait here he will let you in shortly...the security guard then said "get to the back of the line your not special" the guide made us all look stupid for trying to cut in line basically we walked to the back of the line and the guy disappeared. Absolute shambles and just a rip off service.
This was the most memorable journey of my life, and our tour guide was absolutely incredible! If I book a trip again, I will definitely make sure it's with them. I highly recommend everyone to book their next tour with this company!
Absolutely wonderful experience! We booked the Skip the Line Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel experience, and we were very happy with the service. The whole process was smooth, and the staff made everything clear and easy to follow. Seeing the incredible collections and the Sistine Chapel in person was unforgettable. Great service and a memorable experience - definitely worth it!
I had an amazing experience visiting the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with this company yesterday. The service was excellent, and everything was well organized. The skip-the-line service made the visit much easier and saved us a lot of time. The Sistine Chapel was absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Vatican!
The “Skip the line” part is a bit misleading as you still have to wait in line as they have timed entries and the lines are a bit disorganized.
Vatican museums and Sistine Chapel are a must see when in Rome. Plan for at least three hours and secure a ticket online in advance to avoid the long lines at the venue. Shoutout to Tahsin from Viator for assisting me when I missed my scheduled time slot and was able to reschedule me into another one ! He was so helpful and pleasant to deal with Thank you Tahsin!
This trip was booked 2 and a half hours before it started as crown tours cancelled our Vatican museums, Sistine chapel and St Peter’s basilica trip 30 minutes before we were due to meet 😢 As we had a couple of hours to kill we took ourselves off to saint Peter’s square which we loved The tour operator warned us it would be very busy at the museum and recommended we head straight for the Sistine chapel then work backwards - this tour was unaccompanied We got in within 30 minutes but I hated it - it was so tightly packed and the chapel is at the end of many rooms. Once in the chapel we were again tightly packed, I spent very little time looking at the paintings as it was so uncomfortable One woman left in a distressed state due to being too hot - she couldn’t breathe It’s all worth seeing but do your research and see if there are quieter times We couldn’t return to the museum as it was just too crowded This is probably high on everyone’s list of must do experiences so I’d certainly recommend me but plan carefully
We had a wonderful experience with this travel service. Everything was well organized, smooth, and stress-free from start to finish. The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout the experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable travel experience!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I booked the Skip-the-Line Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel ticket through Viator, and I was very happy with the service. Everything was well organized, the instructions were clear, and the whole process was smooth and easy. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the experience. Thanks to the skip-the-line service, we were able to save a lot of time and enjoy our visit without unnecessary waiting. I highly recommend this service to anyone visiting Vatican City. Great experience from start to finish!
I was supposed to be part of a group and our guide ended up just sending me out on my own with no guide since the other employee didn’t show up.
We had a wonderful experience with this tour. Everything was well organized, from the booking process to the meeting point and the tour itself. The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout the experience. Everything went smoothly and made our visit stress-free and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and well-organized tour experience!
It was very crowded with tons of walking. We bought a skip the line tour of the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel and that saved us hours of wait time. I highly recommend!
The local tour provided did not give specifics location ( address) for the meeting place. Nor was able to be contacted via email or phone. It was a very unpleasant experience. Frustrating to say the least.
Definitely invest in Skip-the-Line when doing this tour, as regular line wait times were 5-6 hours! It was nice being able to self-pace once inside. Our tour operator was great. And highly flexible when we had delayed flights and transportation!
This is totally worth it, they really facilitated the entrance for the Vatican’s and Sistine Chapel without needing to wait hours for entrance. The communication was promptly.
Excellent experience! Everything was well organized, and the service was professional and friendly. The tour was enjoyable, informative, and easy to follow. I really appreciated the helpful guidance throughout the experience. Definitely recommend!
Great experience! Completely worth paying for tickets in advance to skip the line! If you prefer no tour guide, this is the best option! Inside the museum, you can purchase audio guides while walking around which was perfect.
The guys running this are great. Good communication and worked with our schedule. Gave us waters cause it was hot out.
Expensive, no guide, we were wandering from here to there, we still don't know if we saw everything there was to see
They summoned us at 10:30 at the agency and made us wait more than half an hour to take us to the entrance site without waiting in lines, but the line had to be waited in anyway to enter the museum a little faster by paying €100 when the ticket only costs €27. We still haven't entered and it is 11:20 and of course without a guide
