What a fantastic experience! Cannot praise this enough! My husband and I are wine lovers and collect wines. Part of the joy of wine is understanding the wines we drink and sharing in the discovery of new wines with others. We wanted to experience new wines in Italy during our two week trip and purposefully chose restaurants with great wine lists. This course popped up and suddenly opened a door to leaning more about the 20 amazing wine growing regions of Italy, each a universe onto itself and way more complex than US wines. Thai course was a treasure!. Simply first rate and intimate! Our animated multicultural group revelled in the wines that our delightful, super articulate and highly educated sommelier presented to us! The diversity was amazing and really showcased how broad and layered Italian wines are. Then came our new discovery: the build up to a gorgeous Barbera that is my new Italian wine to collect, alongside Fianos (new discovery) and Brunellos. Wow! What a super value-add experience! We had a wonderful evening, my boys included, and I got the Italian road map I needed to start my immersion into Italian wines. Thank you so much, VinoRoma Wine Studio! Bravo!! We will come back and take that second class!

Itinerary
You will taste 5 Italian wines under the guidance of a professional certified sommelier and wine educator with decades of experience. After an initial refresher of the steps of wine tasting, we'll go on to taste very different styles of wines from all over Italy. As you taste each new wine you'll be introduced to a new characteristic and the reasons behind it. You will understand your own perception of the wine taste and how you can use it for smarter wine choices in the future. You will learn about the effects different regions, grapes, soils, climate and winemaking techniques have on the end result, the glass of wine in front of you. You will also get a peek into the place wine has in Italian culture and history, general guidelines about how to pair wines with food, agricultural practices like organic and sustainable farming or even neuro-enology. Your interest and questions will definitely play a role in how deep and and in which direction the discussion goes - we meet each guest at exactly the level they are, be it novice, enthusiast or even sommelier or winemaker and take them a couple of steps further. Printed info & learning materials will be provided.

My husband and I have been to many wine tastings and always enjoy them. We were traveling in Rome with our children and their significant others- all in their mid to late twenties- I saw a review of Vino Roma and thought it would be a great introduction to Italian wines. Our host Franco was absolutely fantastic. He worked with our group and his explanations and choices of wines were beyond our expectations! His knowledge, enthusiasm and explanations really made our whole group with our lack of experience appreciate and enjoy these wonderful wines! I can’t recommend this experience enough!
I booked a tasting of Italian wines for myself and my two teen daughters (one participated and the other just listened). We have zero wine knowledge and I wanted a teaching type of experience from experts. We got exactly that! They were excellent teachers and gracious with all of our questions. Their love of Italian wines was apparent and made the class feel more like time with friends than a formal teaching session. We left with enough knowledge about wines to confidently navigate a wine menu on our own! We are American, and our culture has nearly nothing positive to offer our young adults concerning alcohol. The best way I have found to teach my children appropriate use of alcohol is by bringing them to Europe. Our experience with VinoRoma focused on the process and beauty of wine production and emphasized how it is used to amplify meals. It’s the exact message I wanted my girls to hear from the experts.
What a fantastic tasting. Being able to taste and learn about natural Italian wines was such a treat. They were so professional and fun, making the experience even better. We felt like they were joyfully bringing us into their world of wine expertise. They also gave us a wonderful recommendation for a restaurant that served natural wines!
I bought this experience for my girlfriend for our anniversary gift and it was great. We learnt a lot about different types of Italian Wine and got to taste some lovely wines (6 in total starting with sparkling through to white, rose and finishing with some lovely reds). Very knowledgeable host, very friendly and welcoming and we had great company with the 7 or 8 other people.
Our host, Frank, did an outstanding job of explaining each wine. The setting was very comfortable and relaxed for seven guests. Highly recommend this event for anyone wanting to enjoy great wines from various regions of Italy!
It’s impossible to overstate how much we enjoyed our experience learning and imbibing with Maurizio! To begin with, the communication with Maurizio prior to our visit was clear and accommodating. The tasting itself was so much fun. Maurizio’s knowledge was encyclopedic and his enthusiasm for the wines of Italy, especially low intervention wines, was contagious. We also benefitted from his familiarity with nearby restaurants, following his recommendation of dining at La Barrique. If you’re on the fence as to whether you should book this experience, go for it!
We enjoyed the Italian wine tasting with Franco. His knowledge and passion clearly show and we appreciated learning little things about the wines we tasted. Definitely recommend this tasting and would go back without question.
Really great wine and wonderful tasting education. The tour of the wine cellar was definitely the cherry on top of the experience!
A WONDERFUL introduction to Italian wine, with a knowledgeable, warm and passionate guide through a curated selection of bio wines of the Italic peninsula, North to South. Excellent both for those discovering wine and those who want an insider's view on "low intervention" -- wines made with as few additives and industrial flavors as possible, in keeping with millennial-old know-how -- and taste. Grazie, we are very fortunate to live in Rome and will most certainly be back for further tastings and events!
My partner and I had a wonderful time doing the My Lazio wine tasting at VinoRoma! We were guided by Frank across the Lazio region through expertly selected low-intervention wines. We loved learning about the wine makers and the process of wine making. We had never done a wine tasting before, but Frank ensured we felt comfortable to share our thoughts and observations. We left the tasting with a newfound interest and appreciation for wine. I HIGHLY recommend this experience for anyone who finds themselves in Rome. This is sure to be a highlight of our time in Italy!
Frank was an excellent guide to these wines. He took us from the north of Italy to the south with six glasses! We truly got an education and it was so NOT snobby or boring. Frank is really down to earth, but knows his stuff. Go out of your way, build this into your trip to Rome!
We met with Maurizio for two hours for a private Wine tasting and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Very educational as my husband specifically, wanted to learn more about Italian wines. He provided six wines while educating us and providing also, appropriate cheese and cured meats for each pairing. Highly recommend us! It was something different for us.
We loved the tasting with Frank! Very informative and great wines. We’d recommend it to anyone interested in learning about italian wine and tasting natural wines.
Amazing experience. Mauricio was very welcoming, very knowledgeable and generous. Wine selection was very good and food pairing was very tasty and lots to go round. Would highly recommend
Maurizio was amazing! We learned so much about the food and history in Rome. It was our favorite part of our entire trip in Rome! Highly recommend.
This is my second tasting with Vinoroma, and it might have been better than the first. The tasting is conducted in a lovely space in the Monti area, close to the Colosseum (you could even pair a late afternoon photo session there, then walk over to Vinoroma for the tasting). We tasted 5 different natural wines, all accompanied by cheese, olives, cured meats and, yes, chocolate. Maurizio gives everyone lots of information about what you are tasting and tailors it to your level of experience with wine. While there’s no real need for dinner afterwards, you could easily make a late night reservation nearby.
My children and I had the best time! We were in Italy for their senior trip. We learned so much about the making of Italian wine. Thank you!
I'm a natural wine fan that seeks it out wherever I travel. I'm fairly well educated on wine in general, but didn't have much knowledge on Italian regions beyond some basics. I was lucky enough to have booked an evening where it was just my wife and I with Frank to guide us through his incredibly delicious selections These wines reflect their soil and climate so well, and to be taught WHY they taste they way they do, I feel like I learned so much. Frank had intimate knowledge and valuable insights on each wine's region, producer(s), and production methods. No matter how educated you are on natural wine, Frank and Maurizio will no doubt be able to educate you on how to enjoy it even more. A big highlight for us on our 3-day Rome trip! We even went back for a wine-by-the-glass evening in their studio.
We did the 'Wine and Cheese Dinner' and we had a fabulous evening tasting wines and eating delicious Italian food. There was only one other couple there who were great company and we continued the evening with them after we left! We enjoyed all of the wines that we tasted (one fizz, two whites, one red and a dessert wine) and the food pairings were excellent - fresh mozzarella and ricotta (made that day!), cherry tomatoes, olives, different cured meats, chocolate. We'd certainly recommend it and would go again given the chance.
This wine tasting was a fantastic experience and addition to our trip to Rome. The venue is intimate and it’s obvious that the owners truly care about quality wine and enjoying wine as an experience. Frank was our wonderful and incredibly knowledgable sommelier, and the wines he picked for the tasting were fantastic and great to challenge your tastes and try something knew. It was also a pleasant surprise that all of the wines were natural / low-intervention. We learned so much and had a great time while doing it.
Loved the wine tasting. A warm, welcoming, relaxed ambiance with well- informed instructors and fun and interesting participants. I learned a lot and enjoyed it.
Maurizio gave us amazing insight on all the wines we've tasted and luckily let us know where to get them too. He chose some amazing wines that could fit at various times and chose very creative wines as well. I can recommend this wine tour to anyone who enjoys wine in general, even if your knowledge of it isn't that great.
We did the My Italians tasting and our guide throughout the session was terrific! It was great not only tasting but learning about natural wines.
We had an excellent experience! Mauricio was accommodating, friendly and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
Myself and two friends had the pleasure of attending a "My Italians" wine tasting on our recent trip to Rome. Maurizio was a fantastic host; he clearly had an expansive knowledge of wine, but he was also adept at making the wine tasting accessible and welcoming for those who are less experienced. I will definitely be attending another tasting the next time that I am in Rome!
My husband and I had a fantastic time tasting 6 different Italian wines with Maurizio. There were 3 white wines and 3 red wines, each from a different region in Italy. We learned so much about the wines, regions, and food pairings. The ambience was amazing and we had a wonderful conversation with Maurizio (we even learned that his sister lives and has a business in the same area as we do in North Carolina, USA)! You don’t want to miss out on this experience so make sure to book an experience with VinoRoma!
We had a fantastic time. Maurizio was very knowledgeable and able to go through the tasting in a way that was enjoyable to the more seasoned wine tasters in our group and those who had never done a tasting before. I highly recommend this visit.
I'm 73 years old and I've done many, many wine tastings. The VinoRoma Wine Studio & Social Club tasting was among the very best tasting experiences of my life. Very good and interesting Italian wines and expert guidance through the evening. A most satisfying experience.
The wines Maurizio chose were all excellent, a range spanning from north to south and a great introduction to Italian wine. I’m not exactly a beginner but not a pro either, the tasting was pitched perfectly for me, and Maurizio has a fount of knowledge if you do have questions. It’s also timed well, 5-7pm so you can sit and relax after say time activity, before supper. Perfect! Recommend without hesitation.
We did the My Italians wine tasting with Frank which was great! He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions with detail!
Great small group experience as there were only four couples. The staff was super knowledgeable about natural wines and thought us a lot about conventional and natural wines. They were also personable and fun to interact with. We tasted six wines from various regions of Italy and finished the class with a glass of our favorite while viewing the Roman-age basement turned wine cellar. They recommended restaurants and wine shops in the area that specialize in natural wines. The fact that they don’t sell wines on-site made the experience very enjoyable as there was no sales pitch.
We had a private wine tasting for a special weekend with a group of 8. The wines were amazing and the team as well. Clearly recommend for an authentic experience ♥️
My wife and I attended the Italian Wine tasting evening in June . Maurizio was fantastic, He selected a variety of wines from different regions across Italy - 3 whites and 3 reds, many from small wineries. We spent over two 2 hours there. Maurizio was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to help us understand which wines we liked, and why - it was the most informative, effective wine tasting we have done.
Maurizio and Frank shared their passion for Italian wine with my niece and I. It was her first tasting ever and so glad they shared their knowledge with us. So much fun experiencing this in Roma, Italia! Thank you for a great class!
Maurizio offers an incredible and fun lesson in minimal intervention wines. Highly recommend for trying new things, learning a load of cool things about Italian wines, and having a great time!
My brother and I had a delightful time at VinoRoma exploring minimal intervention wines. Maurizio our host was terrific. He is extremely knowledgeable about Italian wines (and wines in general), and gently walked us through the distinctive nature of each wine and how they were made. His stories were wonderful, revealing a genuine passion for wine making. We tried wines that were unfamiliar to us, each beautifully paired with different kinds of cheese and meat. We learned a great deal, and I want to mention that the other guests were wonderful conversationalists, it was a lively and delicious event. I highly recommend it and would do it again the next time we are in Rome.
My husband and I attended the Italian Wine tasting evening in May . We tried a variety of wine from different regions across Italy many lessor known and learnt a lot over the 2 hours . Maurizio is very knowledgable and experienced as well as a great host who makes everyone feel comfortable . It was also a great opportunity to meet fellow wine lovers and share thoughts and experiences . Highly recommended if you’re passing through Rome .
Very nice and well prepared activity. It was a gentle introduction into the wine tasting and to Italian wines in general. Absolutely recommend!
We were joined by 5 other people fr a lovely evening hosted by the very knowledge Mauritzio. Food was lovely and plentiful. Wines were a perfect accompaniment. Would highly recommend this event if you are in beautiful Rome.
We had a wonderful time at VinoRoma. It was so interesting and informative, yet relaxed too. They were very generous with the wine and it was all delicious! Would definitely recommend as something to do in Rome!!
He knew a lot about the wines. The atmosphere was relaxing. The size of the group was ok. Maybe in the end of table the people have difficulties to take apart to the conversation. The place was nice.
We did a 2 hour wine and cheese pairing experience at VinoRoma. The host was extremely knowledgeable about wine and chees in general but really did a great job of explaining to our group the italian experience. We tasted 4 wines with various side dishes and each of them was absolutely amazing. If you are in Rome and want to learn about Italian wines, you cannot miss this.
It was brilliant! Maurizio was friendly, engaging and so knowledgeable. I learnt so much about Italian wine and Maurizio has definitely made me want to learn more and drink more Italian wine! I would definitely recommend this for people who are interested in wine and want to know more.
My family and I enjoyed a wine tasting experience with Vino Roma and it was honestly one the best activities of our trip to Rome. It was really well designed and such fun for all. I can’t recommend it highly enough, even if you are a serious wine buff or just a beginner this is a superb way to spend your evening. Thank you!!
We visited in January and were lucky enough to have Mauricio to ourselves for this wonderful wine tasting session. Learnt so much about wine tasting, food matching and about all the wine regions of Italy. Very knowledgeable, friendly and relaxed. Tasted some delicious wines to help us with our gastronomic tour of Italy!
We had a fantastic Wine & Cheese tasting. Very intimate. Lovely small group of people (only 7 of us). Great food and great wine. Never had cheese so good! Very knowledgeable hostess. So glad we booked this and well worth the money.
This was our second trip to Vino Roma. We attended the wine and cheese dinner which was exceptional. We tasted five wines and paired them with various foods. Our hostess, Hande, was very knowledgeable and quite fun to talk with. My husband and I both learned a lot even though I am not a wine novice. She graciously accommodated our two children for the dinner portion of the event as well. A must do for beginner to advanced wine lovers.
Experience to repeat absolutely, approach to natural wines organized in a simple way so you can understand without too many technicalities the characteristics of the wine you tasted spending time learning and in the same way living with others present a moment to discover new flavors. Highly recommended!
We tried the ‘My Italians’ tasting which allowed us to learn a lot about wines from different Italian regions. We really enjoyed discovering some rather rare wines. The atmosphere was superb, the founder/facilitator passionate and exciting! The place is very nice. Finally, we were in a small, very friendly group. So we had a great time.
