We are very happy with the tour ! We really enjoyed the driver(Francisco), guide(Andrea), bus guide(Alexander) and excellent bus accommodations. The information was very interesting with each city, castle, church and river. We would definitely use City Wonder again and let our friends know about the tours. Thank you for a great day, tasty wine/food and your awesome team.❤️🙏🙏
The trip was excellent from the initial meet\-up to the very end\. Everything was well\-organized, making the entire experience enjoyable and memorable\. A special mention goes to **Antonino**, who was very professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He provided valuable information throughout the trip, ensuring that everything went smoothly and that we had a remarkable experience as tourists. Thank you for making our trip such a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended
My favorite day of our Rome trip! We booked this experience because we knew we wanted to go to Tuscany for a day while we were visiting Italy but logistically did not know if it was feasible. This was the perfect trip, easy pick up in Rome, the bus ride was not bad, and then we got to see so much of the country side. The best part, unlimited wine and pasta at lunch! Definitely worth the price!!
Wonderful experience! It was the perfect way to travel out of Rome, see Tuscany, and have delicious food/lots of wine!! The bus was great because of all the views along the way, and WiFi was available. Would definitely do this again, and recommend to anyone! It was nice not to worry about driving/parking. We also stopped along the way at service centers for snacks & drinks. Paolo was our driver, and Antoni (I think this is the spelling) was our host, both were AMAZING! Barbara was our guide in Montepulciano, and she was the absolute best!
Lovely packed day in Tuscany! Landscape, tour guide, and timing were perfect. However, the description said “3-course lunch at Tuscan farm and winery” and this is NOT correct. We were taken to a tiny restaurant in a small town and given a small basket of bread plus a few slices of meats to share between four of us (not any olive oil) and a glass of wine, then a very small bowl of spaghetti came, then they asked if we wanted cappuccino, and then we had to ask about our other glass of wine so it came last after the hot coffee. No Tuscan farm house, no three course meal as described. Additionally, our driver was driving extremely fast - even for Italian standards - regularly going well over 90mph on the highways and extremely fast on the curved roads. He even mentioned how he has to get tested twice a year as a driver for drugs and alcohol. Maybe that was to try and reassure us(?) but it didn’t help. What we experienced outside of the car was nice as a break from Rome, but it was not what we paid for, so we were disappointed for the difference, especially at such a significant price.
Great tour of small villages. Beautiful shops and coffee shops and restaurants open. Then had lunch at a wonderful restaurant where we had a three-course lunch with delicious food and wine. The restaurant was Frattoria Pulcino Restaurante which is many generations family owned restaurant. What a wonderful day and an extremely special lunch and wine tasting experience!!
Our guide Laura did a fabulous job. The tour was very enjoyable. The time at each stop was well planned. The scenery was spectacular. The farm to table lunch was good and the sisters that run the family operation were a delight.
Our tour guide was great! very knowledgeable and friendly, his name was Antonio. The views were beautiful but it was very high elevation and windy roads in a big bus. Also, there were very steep roads, so if you have an issue with walking, it may be difficult. The three course lunch was only alright unfortunately, but the red wine was good.
The tour was excellent. We had plenty of free time to be able to do our own thing away from the group which was a great way to enjoy the tour with a partner. The three course meal was even better than anticipated. We did not leave hungry. They spaced out the tour in a way where we got to see and do a lot without feeling exhausted.
We had a wonderful day with Flavio! He is a young, energetic guide with an infectious enthusiasm and a genuine passion for what he does. He was incredibly informative, kind, and funny, making the entire experience enjoyable from beginning to end. The three-course meal and wine tasting were exactly as advertised, and the experience exceeded our expectations. The owners welcomed us with such warmth and hospitality that we felt like we were visiting family rather than strangers. They were incredibly generous, and whenever we asked for extra wine or food, they happily provided it with a smile. Between Flavio’s fantastic personality, the beautiful Tuscan experience, the delicious food, and the generous hospitality, we had an unforgettable day! We highly recommend Flavio and this experience to anyone visiting Tuscany. Thank you for making our day so special!
Very lovely places to visit. It was a very long day however. The places were clean Flavio was very informative and answered questions great. The truffle stop was a surprise but I dont think we needed to stop twice. Many were cold and tired. But overall 5☆☆☆☆☆
It was an excellent tour with Favio as our guide. He was fantastic and knowledgeable and ensure all participants are well informed and taken care of. Driver was fantastic too. Kudos to both of them! Cheers! John & Susan Singapore
Antonino, our tour guide was excellent! Sergio drove us safely through the beautiful tuscan countryside. Antonino gave us extensive historical information that brought everything to life! He was organized, polite, professional, knowledgeable, and capable. The small towns were beautiful and historic. Lunch at the winery was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this tour to everyone who wants a taste of Tuscany.
That Piazza is just a drop off stop, no tour guide. The restaurant for lunch and wine tasting was a fabulous experience! Lots of beautiful views!
Definitely a great way to enjoy Tuscan views a wine tasting. Montepulciano is breathtaking. Perfect day trip from Rome and very informative guides. Antonino and Barbara were fantastic guides! There were several opportunities to shop and walk around.
Very rewarding experience visiting the Italian countryside and food/wine experience at the winery. The guide was excellent
Pari was a fantastic host and the whole experience was well organized. Easy transportation to beautiful towns in Tuscany and the included meal/wine tasting was a nice addition.
This was a fantastic value for the money !! We were ably to see beautiful Tuscany, Montepulciano, and were served a delightful multi-course lunch with a wine tasting at a family owned winery. Our guide, Alessandro was so informative — he provided us with a historical overview of the area, the town we visited and the family owned winery/restaurant. The driver, Julio, skillfully and safely manipulated the bus thru the city and on the country, winding, narrow roads . I highly recommend this tour!
Alessio our guide and driver Guilo were extremely professional and Alessio was outstanding with his knowledge and information! 10 out of 10!!!! They took great care of all of us! As for the program itself, the back office might want to change a longer time at Montepulciano, skip the small town of Pienza or give us more time in both and shorten the wine tasting because that was really lunch with wine, not really wine tasting. You were in a chow hall for lunch, with the owners yelling with a microphone (because there were so many other groups) at you about their wine…then mysteriously their registers went offline when you went to purchase cheese?
Fantastic tour! I took this tour in September and absolutely loved it. The meeting spot was easy to find, and the bus ride was comfortable. Our guide, Paula, was wonderful - friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Our local guide in Montepulciano, Sarah, was also excellent - very knowledgeable and personable. Lunch with wine tasting was another highlight of the tour. More than a month later, I'm still thinking about it! One thing to keep in mind - a popular gelateria in Pienza only accepts cash, so be sure to bring some with you. Overall, I highly recommend this tour!
It was a beautiful tour but what made it extraordinary was our tour guide Anna. She made this an invaluable experience by sharing some of her stories as well as having so much knowledge of local history as well as culture.
We had a magical day, it was a full day. The winery experience was as expected. The little towns visited were quaint.
If you're looking for a top notch, relaxed and highly informative tour out in the Italian countryside with idyllic views, then you have found the right one. Laura was our tour guide for the day and she was terrific, explaining a lot Italian history and traditions, pointing out the various cities, and towns as we our way to Tuscany. Our coach was very clean and comfortable and the driver picked us up and dropped us off in convenient location. Laura gave us a true taste of "la dolce vita" or as she called it, "the slow life" which the towns and villages in Tuscany are famous for. I'd say that the hilight of our tour was of course, the Agritourismo lunch at the Pulcino Farm, with its famous vineyard. The handmade fresh bread, pasta, and pecorino cheese, paired with the 6 wine tasting was a thing to remember! The wine cellar tour given personally by the owner was a delight to experience, and the farmhose comes complete with antique furniture and local fossil finds. On the way back to Rome, Laura took us to the little town of Pienza and filled us in on its history before making our final stop in Rome. I highly recommend this tour!
This was a great choice. The views of Tuscany were amazing. The wine tasting and the food were also delicious. Out tour guide Parí was very informative and courteous. She was very graceful. I would do it again.
A great small group your. Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable
Our guide Alberto did an excellent job with his explanations throughout the entire tour and with his great sense of humor, sharing curious stories related to the route and the places visited, as well as always being attentive to everyone's needs during the journey. On a long trip like this, the smooth driving style of Antonio (our driver) throughout the entire journey is also greatly appreciated.
This was the Best of Tuscany and Umbria tour. The guide, Cosimo, was terrific and attentive and well-informed. Every stop was worthwhile. The lunch at the Montepulciano winery was fantastic. I've been to Italy numerous times, and this excursion was well worth the time and money. I would do it again.
Our guide Laura has had many years of experience of being a tour guide. She was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide, but also laid-back. She told us very interesting tidbits along the drive and cared about each person on the tour, but she didn't have formal speeches, she was just giving knowledgeable information about interesting things we could see out the window as we drove to our destination.
Our guide, Chiara was wonderful and we would book with city wonders again.
Great day with Chiara beautiful town great lunch Well worth the money
Wonderful tour! Excellent guide and driver. Anna our guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. We enjoyed this tour!
The positive: This tour allowed us to get out of Rome during our stay and see the countryside. Both the towns we visited were beautiful and we appreciated the free time to explore the second town. The staff were also good, no complaints there. The negative: The tour forces you to experience of the worst tourist traps i’ve ever been to in my life. The lunch was an awful, disgusting experience and a bit surreal in how bad it was. They also take you twice to a disgusting tourist trap shop. I’m used to tours and I know it’s standard to take folks to a shop while giving them a bathroom break, but the guide (was likely forced to) spend a long time telling us how this shop was deeply authentic and famous in Italy. And then of course when we enter it’s one of the grossest shops I’ve been to. Besides the actual stops to the historical towns, this tour was largely a waste of time. Book only if you know what you’re getting yourself into and are okay with it.
The tour was well organized and the tour guide Chiara was very knowledgeable and provided interesting information about Tuscany. The scenery at the 2 old towns was beautiful. The wine tasting and lunch at the winery restaurant were very enjoyable.
This was a great all day experience. Laura was our tour guide and she was the best. She have sooo much information on the history of Italy. It was great info…. I wish I had a pamphlet of all the things she spoke about because it was information that assisted us in our trip to Italy. We enjoyed meeting the 2 sisters who owned the winery. They gave us a brief tour of the winery and we ate lunch and had wine tastings. We also had some time to shop. I bought a few statement pieces. Lastly the views from the tour were impeccable and while I do have pictures, the pictures won’t do them any justice. If you want a full day to learn and have fun doing so, book this experience. I do wish there was a better meeting space for this event. It was a bit confusing when we got there and even more frustrating getting a cab when we returned.
The tour was wonderful. What beautiful places to visit. Kiara, our guide, was very informative and a pleasure. Johnny, our driver kept us safe on the roads. More information on the wines we were tasting would’ve been helpful. Besides the Brunello, we didn’t learn much about the other wines. We weren’t informed what we should be drinking with what food and if it pairs well. All in all though, a really nice day!
This is a long tiring day, and as we are older and used canes, the walk in Montepulciano was too difficult, but we got to spend that time at the restaurant/ winery which was fine...still beautiful. Pienza was also lovely and an easier walk. Interesting drive to see topography of region.
Alberto was amazing . Not only did give us clear instructions on where we were going on the tour bus and where to meet , but he also provided detailed history about the province and area in Italy . He was truly a gem and so humorous. The wine tasting and lunch was just the Cherry on top. Highly Recommend the experience with him ! - Erica from NJ
A great day trip from Rome. Anna, our guide was so much fun and really knowledgeable. She has such a sweet disposition. We really loved her!
We booked our City Wonders tour thru Trip Advisor. Meeting at Piazza de Popolo was very convenient for us and a 10 minute walk from our airbnb. Luca and Anna were a great team. Luca was in a crisp pressed uniform and a great driver. His bus was clean and in excellent condition. Anna our guide was amazing! She was so interesting and very knowledgeable. You can tell she loves being a guide. She had so many stories about the history of the area. She was informative about italian customs. The bus stop going out to Tuscany was great. We loved the coffee cafe in back and the coronettas were the best we've had in Rome. Of course Tuscany, Montepulciano and Pienza were beautiful! The lunch at the farm was interesting and we had fun comparing the different wines with other wine lovers on our tour. It was a much longer day than my husband and I are use to but Anna and Luca made it easy and there were plenty of bathroom and gelato stops!
Anna was exceptional, we really enjoyed learning about the different areas we visited as well as the history. She was very knowledgeable and also made wonderful suggestions regarding local culture. Additionally, she shared some personal experiences which really made the trip even more invaluable. Luca was and excellent driver and was very courteous. Thank you Anna and Luca!!!
There is a fair amount of uphill cobbled walking, so not suitable for everyone. Have you note the staff and guides were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our day 😀
Well planned and timed throughout. Marisa is great, detailed and attentive. Montepulciano and Pienza are lovely towns, views are amazing!
Tour guide very good & knowledgeable. Very good opportunities to shop and sample food items available for sale. Bus driver handled 12 hour tour very well & made drive very enjoyable. Opportunity to take beautiful pictures of churches & landscape.
Great tour, we had a great time. The tour guide Patrizia was very professional, friendly and fun. The 3-course meal and wine tasting was awesome. The Tuscany was beautiful , the Montepulciano was amazing ! Will recommend this tour.
Great trip. Everything was perfect! Claudio was an excellent driver and guide. We thoroughly recommend doing this trip! Well worth every penny!
Wonderful and relaxing tour. Ion was a wonderful guild. Very kind and informative. Wonderful experience.. Thank you Ion!
The tour is definitely worth it. The town of Montepulciano is beautiful and the lunch at the farm with the wine tasting was great. Our guide was Laura who has an awesome sense of humor and was just wonderful all around.
Our guide Ion was engaging, friendly and informative. It was a great tour of places in Tuscany I might not have traveled to on my own. A long day but so worth it! The food and wine was delicious!!
The most amazing day. Very well paced and organized. While on paper it looks like a long day, it flew by. Every minute was great. So much to see and learn but equally balanced with free time and independent exploration. Tuscany is breathe taking. Our tour guide Lavinia made the tour extra special. She was so kind, gracious and fun I cant say enough about her. She really made an already special day extra special.
