A great walk around Trastevere, with plenty of visits to local producers for tastings - we certainly didn’t need to eat afterwards. We were in a group of 9 so could easily hear what our guide was saying. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name (sorry!) but he was very good and informative.

Christian the guide was helpful & funny. The food tastings were excellent & we didn’t need to have an evening meal after it , highly recommend
This is the second time we’ve done this tour in Trastevere with Francesca. She is funny, knowledgeable and does a great job. The food has been good both times and the tour is a fun change of pace from some of the other popular things to doing Rome. We’d highly recommend it!!
Tiziano was such a warm pleasant guide, very informative. It was a nice way to tour Trastevere have a few bites on the way with a background of the culture and learn things from a local that you wouldn’t get from any other media.
The guide was wonderful, the location was great but since it was a food tour and for the money spent, the food was sub par. We had an appetizer of some cold cuts and very small pizza square , a fried rice ball, two small squares of pizza , a tiny pastry and a small gelato. I hope the tour operator did not pay a lot for the food because we have done food tours in thailand, vietnam, Columbia, Spain, Morrocco and Fiji and the quality and quantity was much better. I forgot, a shot glass of beer. In Thailand we sat down as a whole group and had a fantastic meal. Not just a few very small bites. For $55 per person and 10 people the company could have done much better.
We loved this small-group food tour in Trastevere – it was one of the highlights of our time in Rome. We sampled a nice variety of local specialties, including pizza, pastries, cheeses, Italian salami, and gelato. We also learned about the history of the Roman fountains and even got a short lesson on how to use them properly, which was a fun local touch. Our guide, Marco, really made the tour special. He was funny, pleasant, and very attentive to everyone in the group. He shared interesting bits of history about the area, taught us some Italian, and even explained how to spot authentic Roman food and real gelato versus the more touristy places. It was clear he truly enjoys sharing his country and its cuisine with visitors. The only downside was on our side: we booked this tour just a few hours after an afternoon walking tour, so we were very tired by the evening. However, Marco’s energy and humor kept us going and made the experience thoroughly enjoyable. Overall, this tour is a wonderful way to discover Roman street food and get to know Trastevere. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, tasty, and authentic experience in Rome.
We loved this tour! Marco was our guide and he did a great job. He was funny and went at a nice, relaxing pace. He led us to five places around Trastevere to sample the local food (which was delicious) and taught us interesting things about the area and the food as we went. Would highly recommend!
We had a lovely small group tour of food and history with Marco. We enjoyed deli meats, cheese, bread, a little wine, a little beer, suppli, pizza, cannoli, and gelato while walking the streets of Trastevere. Great tour!
Kristian led a great food tour in the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome. Varied food and drink, history and culture lesson plus he was able to pull together a diverse group of participants and make it a fun evening for this solo traveler.
Francesca was amazing! She had so much information about the area and the food. My son, who is studying in Florence now, and I enjoyed the tour so much. We will recommended this tour/guide to everyone!
Valeria (sp?) was very informative and friendly. She made stops along the way and explained the history of several places. Things we would not have known about otherwise. The street food samplings were delicious! I would highly recommend this tour and our tour guide.
We absolutely loved this tour. At first it was a little confusing at the meet up point because there were several other tour operators there but once we located our tour guide things were fine. Trastevere is a very walkable area and we enjoyed the different food items we tried along with the history information. We loved everything about this tour.
Our guide gave an excellent tour of the area. He was informative and entertaining and went at a pace which was suitable for all. The stops were good and we had samples of good street food along the way. Recommended.
Marco our guide was fantastic! Explained not only the food but its origins as well. Plus all the history of the area! And the food and drink were amazing! Highly recommend!
The Tour was really Nice. The guide was a very nice guy and a good story teller. We learned a lot about Trastevere and the food was amazing :)!
Our guide told us about the history of SPA, was very interesting, and general history of the place. And we tried the Roman Suppli, and my mind was absolutely blown, I wish I could eat suppli all day everyday We also tried the Roman Pizza and he explained to us about different Italian cuisine that it’s region based. The guide also catered to our dietary needs / requirement I recommend this food tour especially our guide for everyone and anyone visiting Rome Thank you for this wonderful experience
Fabulous tour with Marti! The street food was obviously fantastic - with a selection of different types of food (including 2 ‘desserts’). There was plenty of it too - personal favourite was the Suppli! However, we were equally impressed with the history of the area, which Marti explained really well. Also got recommendations for later in the week…..
We had a great time! The group was small and the guide Francesca was funny and very knowledgeable. She also gave us a good insight in the life of a real Roman. Highly recommended tour! The food was also very good and tasty 😋
Nice tour through the Testavere neighborhood of Rome. Guide took us to several places for small bites and ended with a stop at Gelato Shop. Some of the places we went indoors for more in depth & some he brought the tray of food out to us. He explained the history of many of the dishes and we had opportunity to see the inside of a beautiful church that was close by. He also recommended restaurants in the area if we wanted a full meal later in the day. I can not recall the guides name :(. We had a nice size group of I think 8 people.
We took the Trastevere food tour with our guide Chiara. She did an amazing job of taking us to small, local restaurants with excellent food. She also did a great job of sharing history of the area along the way. We did a similar trip in Naples a few days before and this experience was much better. The trip in Naples was very crowded, and the food stops felt more like street vendors than local places. The pace of the tour was very good and there was plenty of time to enjoy the food at each stop and not feel that you were eating on the run. The tour was a great value, and I highly recommend it!
The tour was fantastic. Our guide Tiziano was full of knowledge and filled us with many interesting facts about Trastevere, Roman history and the roman delicacies. Would highly recommend this experience!
Great over view of the neighborhood and our guide was very kind and able to give us some great history facts as we ate and toured around.
What a fun experience! Francesca is an excellent guide who shared her love for her city and its delicious spots. This tour is different because it focuses on the best street food in Trastevere. We had a great time tasting the food and drink!
If you're staying in Trastevere this tour is an absolute must thing to do as part of your trip to Rome. I recommend you do the tour on your first day as it gives you a great overview of Trastevere and the great places to eat and drink there. Chiara was our tour guide who was brilliant, super friendly and very knowledgeable. The street food we sampled was absolutely delicious! Chiara also gave lots of great tips about eating out in Rome and what to look out for to avoid the tourist traps. My friend and I had a great evening and we met some great people.
Our tour guide, Ramona, made the most of our trip even though it was raining the whole time. She improvised well and coordinated with the vendors to let us stay inside to snack. Great history tidbits and great food.
Great experience, great food, great guide, Marco. I would recommend this tour for anyone visiting. The church that we saw on the tour was awesome too.
We went on the food tour with our guide Marco, and it was amazing. He told great stories about the city and the area, and the food was amazing aswell.
We loved our food tour with Romona- this was one of our favorite activities of our entire trip to Italy. It was great to learn about the local history and culture of Trastevere. Had the best pizza of our trip too!
The food tour was fantastic our guide was funny and informative the selection of food places he took us was amazing. We went back to 3 of the food places our self during our trip Kristian our guide was funny and informative not just on the food but the area and history I would highly recommend this tour
Our guide, Marco, was warm and friendly, with a good sense of humour - Trastevere is an interesting place to do a food tour. We are glad we did this tour
I’ve done other food tours, but this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had, both because of the guide and the company’s disgraceful handling of my complaint. We were a group of 8, joined by 4 other guests (12 total). I use a small folding electric wheelchair, and my cousin was in a manual wheelchair pushed by a family member. We kept up with the group with no issues — yet after the very first stop, our guide, Francesca, pulled me aside and said, “quit the tour.” When I explained I was fine, she went to my father and said, “People like that shouldn’t be here.” When he asked what she meant, she clarified: “People in a wheelchair.” For clarity: when I booked through Viator, this tour was not listed as “not wheelchair accessible.” Even so, we kept pace with the group without issue. The problem wasn’t the terrain — it was the guide’s discriminatory comments and behavior. It didn’t stop there. She griped about us to other guests, until one woman told her that her own family members also use wheelchairs — and still, Francesca continued. She even made an unnecessary, derogatory comment about Americans being “fuller,” implying weight was also a problem. This wasn’t a misunderstanding. It was open, repeated, and deliberate discrimination against disabled travelers. Everyone in our group, plus strangers, witnessed it. And to make things worse, the tour itself was unimpressive — just four stops, none of which offered true “street food.” Everything came from sit-down restaurants, and the food was mediocre at best. Even without the discrimination, this tour was not worth it. When I complained, Raphael Tours’ response was to defend Francesca, calling her “one of their best guides” with “hundreds of positive reviews.” Instead of accountability, they tried to protect her reputation. When I pushed back and asked what actions they’d take, they followed up claiming they had already contacted the other guests from the tour “several times” but had gotten no response. That’s an unbelievable excuse — less than three hours had passed between emails, in the middle of the night. No serious company investigates multiple witnesses and updates policies in that timeframe. It felt dismissive and insulting. In the end, Raphael Tours offered nothing but hollow apologies and empty promises. They refused to take responsibility, brushed off blatant discrimination, and failed at even delivering a decent food tour. If you are disabled, traveling with someone who is, or simply value basic human decency, avoid this company at all costs. No one should pay for a tour only to be told they don’t belong.
Chiara was an amazing tour guide. She was very pleasant and provided a lot of information in our tour! We would highly recommend her and Viator.
I’ve done other food tours — including one booked through Viator in 2024 — and unfortunately, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had, due in large part to our guide, Francesca. We were a group of 8, joined by another group of 4, for a total of 12 people. I use a small, folding electric wheelchair, and my cousin was in a manual chair pushed by a family member. We were keeping pace with the group, navigating the streets just fine, and not causing any delays. Despite that, after just one stop, Francesca pulled me aside and “told me I should quit the tour”. I was stunned. When I told her I intended to stay, she went to my father and said, “People like that shouldn’t be here.” When he asked what she meant, she replied, “People in a wheelchair.” It didn’t stop there — she complained to my mother, who told her firmly to drop it. Later, a woman from the other group told me Francesca had also been griping to them about “wheelchair users,” to which that guest rightly pointed out that her own family includes two wheelchair users. It was clear Francesca didn’t want anyone with a disability on her tour, regardless of whether they were keeping up — which we were. Her behavior was appalling: discriminatory, unprofessional, and deeply offensive. And she didn’t just alienate our group — her overall attitude made everyone feel uncomfortable. Beyond her behavior, the tour itself was unimpressive. It involved a long walk for just four stops, none of which offered what I’d consider true “street food”. All the food came from brick-and-mortar locations, and sadly, none of it was particularly good. If you’re considering this tour, especially if you or someone in your party has a disability, I strongly urge you to avoid it — or at the very least, insist on a different guide. No one deserves to be treated the way we were.
Guide was great, Miguel ( I think) some historical info and great food as well. It was enough that we felt full and counted it as dinner. I would recommend, loved the Trastevere area. Was easy to get a taxi to and from the meeting location.
We had a wonderful time. Our tour guide, Francesca, was amazing! Very personable. She did a great job with giving the historical details & pointing out things as we were passing through different areas. Very knowledge. The food we sampled was delicious and a good variety. Even though it was “samples” of the foods, there was more than enough and we were stuffed at the end. Thoroughly enjoyed & would recommend.
It was nice and hot for the tour. The food was good and the variety good. Portions were small but it all worked out in the end.
We were very well looked after by Francesca. She was very welcoming, accommodating all of our group’s needs and. She wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable and had a good time. We also really appreciated the knowledge of a local to get a unique, special experience, as well as lots of great, authentic food. More than we thought - no need for lunch afterwards!
We had a great time and had some wonderful food!! We also loved hearing about the history of Trastevere & Rome. Thank you!
We really enjoyed the mix of history and food! Our tour guide kept us interested and we had a great time! There was plenty to eat, we were all full - even our picky eater. Recommend!!
We had an amazing time on the street food tour. Marti was an excellent guide, and it was more than just a food tour! We got to see a completely different area of Rome than what you normally see. The food was outstanding and I would 100% recommend you do this tour one evening.
The tour was perfect! Matia is very kind and have a great attitude. We felt comfortable, and learned history about Trastevere and Italian food.
Our guide Marco was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and its history. Food provided was excellent. Highly recommend
Our guide Marco gave us an exceptional introduction to Trastevere and its food and its nightlife. Heaps of food experiences and beer to wash it down. A great way to spend a few hours. Highly recommended.
Marco was awesome! He is very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. Make sure you ask him about the pizza wallet! We had a great time walking through the different neighborhoods!
Marco was a great guide! Very knowledgeable about the area and the food. I would really recommend this tour.
Our guide was fantastic and we had a very small group and what an incredible way to see Trastevere. Fantastic
Marco was Brilliant. He was very informative, very funny, very friendly and very interesting. Thank you Marco. Would highly recommend
An excellent tour. Francesca was informative, she gave so much more information than just the food, it really helps to contextualise everything you see.
We really enjoyed the tour. Tiziano was great. Very engaging and good company. The food was lovely and it also meant we saw an area of Rome that we hadn’t explored. I thought it was very good value for money and we would thoroughly recommend it. Thanks!
Tour was on Feb 13th at 5pm. We had Mateo as our guide. He did an excellent job with walking pace (not too fast for us with hip and knee issues and not too slow for the fitter ones). We could hear and understand him just fine as our group was small enough to enjoy the whole experience. Actually, I think we had a better experience because of the fun group we had. We had a good mix of English and American couples and two solo ladies! Our family was my husband, me and our teenager and our friend's had their 5 year old. Everyone had a great time and we got to learn a lot about Trastevere as well as sampling some great street food. You do not need dinner after this tour! Highly recommend this tour.
