I would book all my tours with Lina if we were going to be here more days. She shared so much information on the coliseum, arena floor and the forum. The history, the archeological finds and modern times. Having the small group tour made it easy to get plenty of time to view, listen and take pictures of this amazing part of Roman history. Lina made it a fantastic time.

Itinerary
The Colosseum or Coliseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of travertine limestone, tuff, and brick-faced concrete, it was the largest amphitheatre ever built at the time and held 50,000 to 80,000 spectators.
The Roman Forum, also known by its Latin name Forum Romanum, is a rectangular forum surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome. Citizens of the ancient city referred to this space, originally a marketplace, as the Forum Magnum, or simply the Forum.

A lot of walking. Very informative and very personal. The small group made it very easy to access the site.
Our guide, Lina, gave us a wonderful and interesting tour of the Colosseum and Forum. She was pleasant, friendly and provided a paced and informative tour. We learned many interesting facts! Lina pointed out some beautiful areas for views and pictures. Overall, this was a great tour & highly recommend Lina as a guide!
We loved our tour of the Colosseum arena and the Roman Forum. They are fascinating sites, and everything went smoothly. Lina was a great guide. She was very knowledgeable, answered our questions, and had a nice sense of humor.
We had the best tour this morning with Ala! I highly recommend the morning- it was a lot less busy and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Ala was super flexible with our group of two adults and two children- we explained our children’s short attention spans, and that we wished to do a more condensed, shorter version of the tour, and she stuck to highlights and kept the tour fun and interesting for our children. Best experience!!
Alessia was fantastic. Knowledgable and professional. It was a hot day and she seemed to know where every shaded area was.
Our tour guide Lina was incredibly informative and gave us an excellent experience and history of the Colosseum and Forum. We would highly recommend Lina as a guide
Great tour guide! Merta has informative and supportive to our needs. She made the experience am awesome one!! This tour helped us learn a lot about the history.
Definitely worth it! It did feel a little rushed at times but overall we are glad we booked this tour
We had a great experience. Our guide was excellent and extremely knowledgeable and very caring and made the experience so much more alive
We absolutely loved our tour! We got very lucky as our reservation ended becoming a private tour. Our guide Gianluca Pica, was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. We learned so much and have now an even deeper appreciation for Ancient Rome. Gianluca was thoughtful to offer us tips and recommendations for what to do in the next coming days. This tour has been the highlight of our trip!
A small group where we coukd easily hear Irene and she was very knowledgeable and kept our attention making the tour mraningful.
Luigi was a great guide - friendly and knowledgeable - a former archeologist. We ran out of time to see the floor of the colosseum, but this tour is so worth it. Definitely get to the tour early to have a caffe and croissant at Cafe Roma…yum.
Alessandro was an amazing guide. He was well-informed as an archaeologist and was able to explain information in terms that we were able to understand. His use of an IPad to show how the Colosseum and Forum looked in ancient times enhanced our understanding. He was also very entertaining and passionate in his presentation.
Our guide, Siriki, was wonderful. He was very informative, and very patient with the group as we struggled with the heat - he even went out of his way to find shady spots for us to stand/sit as he explained our surroundings! He had a great sense of humour as well, and took the time to get to know each member of the group. My daughter and I learned so much about the colosseum, the Roman forum, and Rome itself thanks to Siriki :) I would recommend him/this experience to my friends in a heartbeat!
We have used Eyes of Rome in the past and been very pleased with the service. They do a very good job with communication before the tour, the prices are competitive and their guides are fantastic. Our trip this August was no different, they were great again. My family really enjoys hearing from experts when we use private guides and everybody we’ve used from Eyes of Rome is an expert. For example, two of our tours this year were with archeologists that either did or currently teach at the University of Rome. In fact, one of our guides had actually done archeological work on a site we visited with them. We did a total of five tours this trip, it worked great for my father. The weather was very hot this August and having a car pick us up and drop us off at the site is really helpful for an older parent. We visited Ostia, Tivoli, the Vatican, an underground Rome tour and the forum tour. Every tour exceeded our expectations. Our guides this visit are listed below and each were great. We have never used any of these guides before but as in the past Eyes of Rome did a great job connecting us with the right guide for the tour we were doing. Again, we highly recommend Eyes of Rome and look forward to working with them in the future. Our Guides Simone Eleonora Gianluca Marco
Definitely recommend this tour. The guide was very pleasant and communicative to ensure you have everything you need for the tour. She was patient and even willing to stop and take pictures for those of us in the group. Book this tour!
Irene was such a great host! She was thoughtful about making sure we stayed in the shade while she told us about the locations (it was so hot!) and she really knew her history! Our kids loved it too. Thank you Irene!
Irene was very knowledgeable and kept our teens engaged. She answered all my sons questions and kept us moving at a reasonable pace in the extreme heat.
Our guide Valentine was great . My son and wife had many questions on the Colosseum for her and she answered them all. She also guided us through the Forum and showed us the way to Palatine Hill. We all had a good experience.
Our tour guide was Excellent, very informative. A wealth of knowledge. I would definitely recommend her.
First off, I had originally booked a Colosseum tour with another tour group I found on Travelocity about 6 months in advance of our vacation. About 2-3 weeks out, they emailed to say my tour was cancelled, but they offered to reschedule us from the 9am start time we booked to 3pm. When I told them that we had another reservation at that time, they basically said oh well. A friend of mine said she used Eyes of Rome before and loved them, so we left the first group as I was lucky enough to find an open slot at our desired time with Eyes of Rome. I'm so glad we did!! Booking on their website was really easy. We reacived an email confirmation immediately, a little later email confirmation and then updated info a few days out with our tour guides name. I'm not sure about all tours, but ours included hotel pick up. We easily found our driver and guide waiting just outside the lobby about 15 minutes in advance of our scheduled meeting time. Our guide, Marta, was absolutely amazing from start to finish! On the ride from the hotel, she immediately engaged my kids while also keeping the tour interesting for the adults in our group. She was extremely knowledgeable and provided so many fascinating details. I was concerned that my 10yo would be bored, but that was totally not the case. My teenager was even riveted! Our tour was in mid-July and it was a nearly record breaking hot day. Having the small group tour, allowed our guide to work at our pace--she kept pointing out interesting sights and explaining them, while we maximized time in the shade and took breaks from walking as needed. Despite an early morning tour, the security lines still seemed long to us (especially the Roman Forum which we did 2nd), but Marta had pictures that she used to continue to keep us engaged making the time in the lines not seem like wasted time. (We did have the cut the line passes/used the tour group line), but even then the lines were long, but maybe not as long as the other lines). At the end of our tour, my mother started to feel unwell from the extreme heat. Marta was so kind and patient, staying with us beyond the end of our scheduled tour time until my mother recovered and was ok walking around again. Marta even helped us to arrange local lunch and transportation after the tour to avoid having to return to the extreme heat. I highly recommend Eyes of Rome and in particular, Marta, for any tour in Rome! Other thoughts, umbrellas and fans did help with the extreme heat and we had no problems getting them through security. If traveling in the summer, I'd recommend an early AM tour or, maybe try late in the day/night, if possible.
Touching history was an amazing experience. Our guide was amazing. She incorporated her knowledge of the Colosseum and with that transported just to the time it was in its glory.
This was a great way to see the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Meeting location was easy to get to. A couple similar names tours happening at the same time but easy to find our guide. Our guide Irene was really knowledgeable about the history of the attractions and several interesting facts that bring the experience closer to home. Skipping the line is always great but knowing where the good picture spots are is helpful as well. Well worth the money for this tour!
Tour was great and Guide was knowledgable. We all Felt bad for her as she was battling a terrible cold.
Luigi was an awesome tour guide. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very thorough. However the technology to hear him through the radio was broken with no way to replace it so it made it difficult to hear. Lines at the Colosseum were very, very long too, so I would not recommend this on a Sunday as everyone in Rome said it’s the worst day of the week to go.
It was refreshing to have such a small intimate group for a tour. Our guide was knowledgeable, personable and approachable. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and learned a lot. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Wow!! This tour was amazing. We had the best tour guide, Ellie, she knew so much about the Colosseum and Forum. She also had some books to show us how the Colosseum looked during the gladiator times which really helped us fully understand what we were looking at. I would highly recommend this tour and Ellie as a tour guide.
This tour was a terrific experience. Pamela was very informed about all the features of the Forum and Colloseum, as well as being friendly and humorous. My family thoroughly enjoyed our time with her. It's a little difficult to find your guide at the beginning as multiple groups meet at the same location, but with a little patience it all gets sorted out. Anyway, highly recommended - thank you Pamela!
Irene was an excellent guide, providing us with a wealth of knowledge about Roman history, which we thoroughly enjoyed despite not being history enthusiasts. We valued the small group size and believed that the slightly higher cost was justified.
Mirta was a fabulous guide with a great sense of humour. We really enjoyed her company and listening to all of the information she provided. Our small group ( two other families) all got to know each other during the tour. Would highly recommend the small group option
Had a memorable tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Took some time at the main point to let people look around.
Awe inspiring! Our guide was very kind and considerate. Our meet up and skip the line went smoothly.
Our guide was absolutely fantastic! Lots of information and educational components to share, with a clear passion, but at a pace that was manageable and you could keep up with. So much to see at each site, but glad we could stay longer at the Forum once the tour concluded so we could look around more ourselves.
Are you looking for a detailed tour? History buff? Luigi is your guide! If you desire lighter, basic but interesting stories of the Roman Forum and Coliseum this would not be the tour for you.
Tour guide went above & beyond to locate us after we got a little lost getting to the meeting point. She was very passionate & knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
The tour was great. Being in a small group (6 people, with a max of 10) was the way to do it. Raphaella was a bit difficult to understand at times. She spoke so fast. She did offer alot of info in a short amount of time. This a must see on your trip to Rome. You need a guide here for sure.
I can’t begin to tell you how amazing this tour is, being inside The Colosseum is thrilling. I had no idea I would be just as enthralled as my husband hearing the history and trying to imagine what it was like centuries ago watching gladiators. This whole area around The Colosseum has so much history, our guide was so knowledgeable gave us ample time to take pictures.
Mariana was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Great experience! We saw some special areas and the weather was perfect.
Barbara was a great guide- she made sure that the whole group was considered and cared for, from the kids to the modern relics. We came away in awe
Guide was kind and punctual but we bought Full Experience tickets and wete not allowed to access some areas pf Colisseum and Forum. Guide didn’t have tickets to access. Tour was shorter than expected. Lots of areas and details missing. Too much money compared to service.
Very good tour guide, she was very knowledgeable. We booked a small group tour as my grandson has Autism, and doesn't like large groups, and we only had 6 on out tour so he had a ball. The guide interacted with the kids and very had a great time, it wasn't rushed and we all had a good time. Over all, it was a great day.
I cannot write enough good things about Elisa! She was personable and interesting, as well as extremely knowledgeable! My husband and I were the only ones in the group and she was so willing to answer our questions. It is very apparent she loves her city and is excited to share its beauty, history, and culture! Thanks so very much!!
Our tour guide, Ornella was amazing. She took into consideration all of our needs and was extremely knowledgeable. We had a great time and she kept the teenagers entertained!
Ms. Barbara was lovely! Her knowledge was deep, but she delivered it in a fun and accessible way! Despite getting POURED on during the Palatine Hill portion of the tour, we had a great time and highly recommend. Thanks Barbara and Eyes on Rome!
This tour was amazing! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable, and we got to see all the underground parts or energy Colosseum.
Maria Linda is an excellent guide for this tour. She’s full of knowledge, and we found the time spent seeing the Colosseum and the form to be well worth every penny, we spent. Simply an excellent tour!
Eleonora is an excellent guide. She knows the history abd was able to easily answer any questions. We also appreciated her books that showed the periodic changes. It really brought ancient history to life. Needless to say, she was courteous and engaging.
Our guide Luigi was fantastic - so informative and enthusiastic, huge knowledge of history/archaeology and lovely sense of humour in his delivery. We would not hesitate to recommend this small-group tour. We toured the Colosseum and Roman Forum (commencing 9am, so we were in before it was too crowded). Luigi even took photos of us and the rest of our group when requested. The views and experience of being inside the Colosseum and Forum were wonderful. We each wore an earpiece so that we could hear Luigi clearly at all times, even when moving through a crowd or away from our group for short times. Very interesting and great fun.
Rosie provided us with an excellent private tour of the forum and colosseum. She has a vast knowledge of the Roman history and delivered this knowledge to us in an expressive, entertaining and informative manner. Our time with Rosie was one of the best tours we took in Rome - and we took several tours. We would highly recommend this tour and ask for Rosie if possible! You will NOT be disappointed.
