We booked this tour before we came to Rome. We were very impressed with the service from Sean he went the extra mile with giving us recommendations for bars and places to eat. Our tour guide Dina was amazing. We ended up getting a private tour. Great being able to skip the queue and Dinas knowledge was second to none . The tour was very informative and she even took pictures of us. Exceptional service and would highly recommend. Highlight of our trip.

Incredible tour! Our guide shared so much interesting information. The Vatican Museum would be daunting without a guide. He showed us all the great highlights, answered all our questions (and my teenage son who loves History asked a lot!), and was extremely friendly and engaging the entire tour. My family learned a lot and had fun doing so! Highly recommend!
Absolutely fantastic!! Highly recommend!!! Our tour guide was lovely and very well informed. Vatican was empty because of the virus. Felt very safe and loved every minute of it!
Totally recommend booking through Viator. We’ve used them several times before and have had only good experiences. With so many visitors no matter what time of year you go, the skip the line tour is certainly worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and super nice! Unfortunately we don’t remember her name but it really was a great tour!!
Our tour guide Eddy (with a "y") was amazing! He was fun and knowledgeable. The company itself was so helpful, as we were running late due to a delayed train, and they waited a few extra minutes so we could meet them at the entrance (luckily we had a small, understanding group). Eddy told us little things that we wouldn't have noticed if we did the tour on our own. He made the tour fun and I wish he could have showed us all of Rome! I would definitely use this company again for booking a tour.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and she made us feel good throughout the trip. The coordinator stayed in communication with us until the meetup was successful.
Too busy, disorganised and very disappointing. We went to see the beautiful painted ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. Beautiful it is but after a long trek round the museums to get there it was so busy we were quickly ushered out to make room for all the others. Couldn't really take it all in. Not suitable for anyone with poor mobility as there are very few places to sit and rest. Avoid the gelateria directly outside - very expensive. In fact the whole experience not worth the money.
Dozens of tours are all skip the line. Too much to do in just a few hours. Guide was hard to understand. Not worth the money.
My friends and I heard about this tour from "Rome Free Walking Tour". We received a nice discounted voucher that we were able to apply. They were very helpful and accommodating, since we have booked the 3:00 tour very late. I totally recommend on joining this tour because you get to see all of the attractions in the Vatican and get to skip the line. Our tour guide Guido was really informative and made the trip fun. Even though you have bought the skip-the-line option, you might still end up waiting since you will need to go through security, which is pretty standard and out of the tour's control.
Great tour of the three locations with a excellent tour guide. Group of eight was perfect and would highly recommmend it
We got the platinum package and it was wonderful! So glad we were guided in the Basilica. Alessandra the guide was excellent! Most of all she ddin’t make me feel stupid when I cried (I loved Pope John Paul II) and even waited while I said a quick prayer. Alessandra was super knowledgeable and clear, making the tour (which can be overwhelming) very entertaining. For example her explanation of the scenes at the sistine chapel by the time I went in I knew what was going on and was able to enjoy it and appreciate it more.
Wanted to give a shout out to the City Lights Tour and to our guide ENZA for a totally awesome experience at the Vatican. Enza provided us with so much interesting and relevant information! We thoroughly enjoyed the tour/experience and would highly recommend it to anyone who would be visiting the Vatican. Thank you City Lights Tour and Enza for a memorable time! The Troios
Federica made the tour interesting and enjoyable, her knowledge of the Vatican were excellent and she made the trip worthwhile and well worth the money.
Myself and my partner had Frederica for our tour of the Vatican last week, she was very informative and friendly. We really enjoyed the day - I can't stress enough how much you NEED a tour guide in the Vatican, it is simply to big and too packed to do on your own. The cost was very good too. We even called Sean again (the Irish owner) the next day and booked the Colosseum (we had been quoted way over odds there) - he snuck us in on a tour for a fraction of the prices we were given - highly recommend City Lights :-)
Me and my boyfriend had book a skip the line tour with City Lights for the Vatican museums. We were very dubious at first, we were only looking at the sites when we were approached on a bridge by a gentleman about booking the tour. He had explained that we would need to go to the office to book and put out names down as the Saturday would be the last day for us to book the whole tour, as it is not available on Sundays. I had managed to look at the tripadviser reviews and they were all very positive. So we did head to the office and put down a 10 euro deposit. The staff were so lovely and helpful, the young lady who sits at the booth was fab and easy to chat to. Our tour guide, Alexandra was amazing. She explained so many new facts to us and imparted so much knowledge onto us. It was by far the best holiday tour we have been on. We had also done the Colosseum tour with another company but this was by far the best! We have recommended it to everyone so far. A must do - thank you again .
This tour was worth every penny. Our guide, Dina, was informative, friendly, helpful and spend extra time with us in the art gallery. We will forever be grateful to her!
We booked the platinum tour of the Vatican & St Peter’s basilica & were lucky to have Valentina as our guide - her knowledge was amazing! She led us through the crowds, gave us plenty of time to take photos & was genuinely interested in imparting her knowledge.
We loved the Vatican museum, Sistine chapel & St. Peter’s they are beautiful buildings with so much to see. We found our guide was full of information however we did feel it lacked a little personality to hold our attention, it was nice although that the lady could point out different interesting points during the tour that you wouldn’t notice if you were tontour the building yourself. The ear pieces also cut in & out of you were towards the back of the group.
We were met on the sant Angelo bridge by a super nice guy who explained the tour and took us to where you sign up and pay (reassuring not to pay on the street). Shaun then took over and walked us to the meeting point and gave us loads of great Rome tips along the way. Our group was small, 12 people and our guide Jason was excellent in every way. Even in January it was busy, in summer it must be overwhelming. Even Jason’s first explanation about the Sistine chapel and Michaelangelo’s fresco was worth the money, you would not get to appreciate it fully without some kind of guide as there are no handy little signs and even if there were it wouldn’t be delivered with the same personality. Remember you can’t ask questions to an inanimate object! Ok so you aren’t guided to every teeny tiny bit of the Vatican museum but you get to see all of the good stuff and then have the option to go and look around yourself later. We didn’t as our heads were so full of new knowledge that we headed to the basilica and then out into St Peters square. Yes you could go and queue for a couple of hours, get lost in the maze of rooms, probably miss stuff you never knew existed and then not really understand what you are looking at or the context in which it exists, but why would you? Take this tour and feel as excited by what you will see and learn as we did. Great job Jason, Shaun and the guy on the bridge!

We were newcomers to Viator and so were a little nervous at first. Now, we're believers!Skip the line is the ONLY way to go! Spend whatever it takes, it's worth it, as is the upgraded tour. Like all Viator guides, our Vatican guide Alessio is a specialist in his field. We definitely benefitted from his knowledge and expertise. The Museums were packed with people, yet Alessio guided us expertly through the maze of people and spoke so movingly and with such reverence about the beauty and meaning around us. Because we'd upgraded our tour, we ended up having a private tour of St. Peter's with Alessio. So worth it. Thank you, Viator.

I'm sure the tour guide knew his stuff, but no one could understand him due to a thick accent and the fact that he did not speak into the microphone the majority of the time.

The Skip-the line was worth it enough. The tour guide was great and got some amazing information throughout the different places. Highly recommended.

Our guide Gaby was excellent! Highly recommend this tour and Gaby!

Ok so to start out Ill admit that the review is 3 stars for some reasons not entirely fully down to the fault of the tour guide or group which Ill explain in a minute, otherwise would be 4-5 stars. The Vatican is a must see for anyone in Rome, it is a wonder to go and see and our tour guide Mario was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and all in all brilliant. He was very good at pointing out the bits we needed to see and the history of the place, the stories of the artefacts and reasons for things being there or sculptured as they were. His short narrative on the Sistine Chapel outside in the gardens was very interesting and explained the meaning behind the frescos and what was being depicted he told us outside as you cant speak in the chapel. Now for the problem part. There was to be a service in the chapel at 2pm, so we rushed through the museum, which was very crowded, to arrive at 1.15 and be denied entry early as it was closing ahead of 2pm. Not the tours fault, but very annoying, given we had rushed through the museum to get there early. At this point we were essentially left with a choice of hoping to get back in at 3pm after the service without the guide for the Basilica which we did or just leave. Not that this was any fault of Mario, but in the end he had to just leave us there and we missed out on the guided tour of the Basilica which we had paid for, which was a shame as he was, as Ive said excellent. So to sum up a bit of a bum deal for us on the day, but defiantly book up and ask for Mario, just check that the Vatican isnt doing a service to ruin your planned day!

The agency which operated this tour were very welcoming at their office and communicated what was going to happen on the tour superbly. The tour leader was very informative and covered a lot on the tour. There is a lot of standing/walking involved and if older people are travelling they should be made aware of this

Our guide, Raphaella, was very personable and knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor! Despite the crowds and the overwhelming amount of history to see, we feel as if we saw all the top sites.
