Rome: Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Experience

This is not a guided tour. It’s an audio guide and you are given details at the meeting point and left to your own devices. Not 100% that it is skip the queue either but the queue wasn’t long on our visit. I have some issues with all official tickets being picked up and then repackaged as tours (so this may impact my objectivity). Pick up was efficient and we had no problem getting access to the sites but I think this is pretty much an access ticket with a mark up..,

I did this in a single day, palatine hill and forum 9:30ish this was one of my favourites while in Rome, easy pace no ridiculous crowds at that time, very enjoyable, don't miss the gardens up top and the café is great value, but it got busier towards lunchtime. Around the colloseum the crowds are huge,try to get a timed ticket for the underground tour and pay for the guided tour, you won't get these on the day, fascinating and thought provoking places.

Hard time to find the guide which had the tickets. Otherwise good experience.

I think this guide was pretty good considering the price. I went with my sister (16 and 18 year olds) so we only paid for one of us since children are free. We met the host right by the colosseum, so there wasn't any stress finding the right address. It was easy to come into the Colosseum and the other landmarks with the already bought tickets and the sound files worked well. This also lets you move around as you wish at your own tempo which we also appreciated. The only loop hole I'd mention is that it is a little hard to find what (or where) each sound file is talking about, considering there is a file for a great number(!) of things inside the colosseul and foro romanum (Those files were very interesting!!). It did start with "To your right" or "To your left", but we didn't know if we were standing in the right direction to begin with, so we got stuck often wondering where we were supposed to look. The files had pictures and titles that did help alot, but for two teenagers that has minimal knowledge about roman history, it still felt complicated. We thought multiple times how a live guide would fit better for us. Overall; great information and most went as you'd expect, just a lot of wasted time spent buzzing around and looking at the wrong places🥲 If I could go back, I'd honestly get a proper guide.

Coliseum, Roman Forum, & Palestine Hill. These are magnificent! We scheduled for later afternoon. With gates closing at 6pm, it pushed our time to keep moving. We could have stayed another hour. Communication with a 3rd party wasn’t clear. He was also limited what he shared as to how to be most efficient with that time. Plan to have water cuz it’s limited inside the Coliseum

Definitely cuts down the wait time at ticket booth but this basic your offers you nothing more than what you get at the booth. If you don’t want to wait in line, buy this ticket. Viator agent on site gave me a digital map and very rushed instructions on where to go and what to do. They give you a link to an audio tour when You check in. The digital map shows entrances but nothing more that will help you orient you towards the places you see. The audio tour is more a byline commentary and is not a true guided tour. It does not “walk” you through the colosseum and explain what you’re seeing. The colosseum itself has plaques detailing the historical and architectural details of certain structures but would have been nice if it contained details on use and purpose of those structures. Overall, the entire visit was very disappointing.

Waste of money. When we arrived expecting a live guide, we received a WhatsApp scan and our tickets sent to us electronically. Then an audio guide that was definitely created by AI. We could have saved 30 euros and bought our own tickets. Why pay that type of markup for a sub-par AI audio guide that should cost 5 euro max? Terrible value for money. Save your money for a live guide. 1/10 would not recommend.

We booked this tour last minute but it was perfect for us. We wanted to see the inside of the Colosseum but go at our own pace. This tour gave us just that.

Easy to find and friendly guides. This skip the line service was great and we had no issues finding the guides or our way in! Communication was great!

Way too expensive and the staff was stressed, unfriendly and pushy. The Audioguide was okay but nit worth the price tag Never Again.

The host is super nice and knowledgeable. He holds a flag with company logo and is easy to find. I booked the tour at 12:30 but the time ticket I got was for 1:30 pm so make your travel plan accordingly. The ticket gets you into three attractions but did not include the Arena ticket for the Collosseum.

You receive a download link which provides audio description of 12 areas of the colosseum. Had hoped for better inc visual interpretation of gladiator combats.

The host was very polite and explained everything to us. We also received audio files with explanations about the Colosseo, Palatino and Foro Romano.

This audio tour was a scam. The map and numbers were barely relevant to what we were looking at. It was definitely written by chatGPT. Don’t waste your money on this! Just buy tickets online and find a free version online somewhere.

The meeting was hard to locate. Once there, our guide was late. Then they provided no guidance or recommendations on what to see and do once you get in the Colosseum. I didn’t read that we needed our own audio however even for those in our group that had audio they were not able to follow either with resources provided.

The audio guide is AI slop and not at all interesting. No stories—just basic facts. We stopped it midway through and just figured out things on our own. The biggest issue, however, is that the times are not fixed. In fact, this is my third Colosseum tour to have booked, and not ONCE has the original time been adhered to. I cannot recommend Viator for touring the Colosseum.

I did not like this at all. They simple got the tickets for us, which I could have easily done and gave us links to information about the site which I also could do on my own.

I had a bit of a personal emergency in the morning, but the tour operators were kind and patient, and helped me reconnect with the tour when I arrived late. I very much appreciate that. I liked being able to go at my own pace around the sites, taking time where I was most interested. My only issue was that even though the audio guide was informative, I found it hard to keep up with. It didn't give very good directions on how to get to the next spot. So, sometimes I got off track. Everything else was good.

Absolutely no organisation or communication. I messaged the company yesterday to say I couldn’t make it due to a double booking. No reply, no help or no refund. Still no reply

Easy self guided tour of the Colosseum with very simple download of the audio guide. Be aware lots of stairs to walk up. My favorite part was the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.

The truth behind the 24 hour ticket. We assumed we could return the next day but were told that once we went in, there was no further entrance. Not explained anywhere. Highly recommend against this ticket

You are very much on your own on line with anyone else that has a ticket. The audio was informative but scant.

It was raining and still easy to find our guide and get in. The lines were awful and we walked right in.

Super sketchy guys. The guys gave me my tickets at the meetup place across the street from the Colosseum. It was time for me to enter the Colosseum but they wouldn’t stop talking to me and wanted me to let them download links on my phone. They wouldn’t let me leave until I just walked away. Felt like I was getting scammed. I recommend getting your tickets not through a 3rd party site such as this. There is no such thing as skip the line. There is a timed entry on all the Colosseum tickets regardless where you buy them. Get them through the official Colosseum website, a trustworthy source with no risk of scams or hassle and no markup price on the tickets.

The guide was very knowledgeable. Although, talked for 1 hour while showing pictures from a book. Then started to show everything in the museum he talked about in a rapid pace. The guide should have the knowledge from their experience approximately how long the tour will run. Not 1 1/2 hours longer than scheduled time. Also it would have been great to know their was only one drinking fountain on the entire 4 1/2 our tour and none for sale.

Paid basically 70 euros for two regular tickets, no line skip, no guide, awful audio guide. The guide points you to the colosseum from a block away, links you the audio guide and says bye. Face value of the tickets are 18 euros each

Self guided. No narrative as to what you are looking at. Easy to book online Make sure cell phone is fully charged since the recorded info is just general knowledge not specific to what you are seeing as you walk (no speech at point A)

I was not sure of who to contact but once you get there you see the agent! He was very helpful and explained in details how to get through in the best way 💜 We had a great time and saw all the great things in coliseum. Make sure you bring plenty of water and wear your comfortable shoes! Be prepared to spend at least 1.30-2 hours . And it’s still very hot if you are taking a tour by noon, so wear your hat and light clothes.

It was easy and simple and just what we were looking for. The material was easy to follow and understand.

You for sure you skip the line and they gave us great tips how to avoid longer entrance to the Roman Forum.

This tour had some challenges. It was an audio tour based on links on WhatsApp. There was not a guide with you. Guide met outside to give instructions. It was hard to sink up the audio with the flow of the tour at all 3 places. Not sure when to start the audio. We did enjoy the sites.

Great overall experience. I would definitely recommend getting tickets to go inside the Colosseum and Roman Forum/Palatine Hill because it was an amazing experience. To be clear: this experience does not include a tour guide and is independent. For us, this was fine because you can explore at your own pace. The meeting point is outside the Colosseum Metro Station, and you meet with a host 10 minutes before entry time. The host will send audio guides, maps and tickets via WhatsApp (so make sure you have it!) If you want to use the guide, I recommend to bring headphones. Our host Raju, was friendly and helpful in pointing out entry points to ensure our experience was smooth. The company is essentially reselling tickets, so ultimately, you are paying a slightly inflated price at ~50 Euros per person because it is not an actual tour. We were aware of this and had a lovely day and experience, but just writing to ensure clarity. Would recommend as an option unless you want an actual tour guide. Also, try to book as far ahead as you can to guarantee tickets and to try to book on the official website if you can.

Very nice, and fin experience. Super organized. I was with my friends and the host told us everything we need to know and guid us to the colosseum. I will do it again because I felt safe and the audio was very interesting too.

Very easy to work with. Showed up a little late due to transportation issues and they still were able to accommodate us. We did the self guided audio tour which was good enough for us. Lots of people and hot but easy to move around and see everything.

Excellent tour at great value. Hosts were awesome. We really enjoyed the tour audio. Was great for our family (two teen boys). Liked that we could go at our own quicker pace.
