Met at the appointed location and time. Everything was as described. The tour company representative was very helpful in getting linked to the audio guide and entry Directions. Within a few moments I was in and listening to the audioguide. I highly recommend this tour and tour company

We enjoyed seeing the castle which has a lot of history and gone through many changes over time. We took a break on the top level for coffee and the beautiful views.
This was a self guided tour, with the skip the line entry. Such a beautiful piece of history, and definitely a must do while in Rome.
Easily found the Crown Employee and she helped us download the app for the audio. Some of the audio didn't follow the rooms in the venue but I think that was due to renovations. App was easy to use
Amazing place to visit. Best views of Rome at the top. Lots of artifacts and artwork! There is a little restaurant/cafe near the top overlooking Rome.
This was a nice tour with audio that was self paced. However, trying to download the app for the audio was a bit much, as there isn’t great wifi reception at the meeting place. This information was not in the email confirmation, otherwise I would have had it completed before i arrived. Tour does not have a great flow and you really have to pay attention for the sign with the number so you know what to play while walking through. Besides that, it was a nice tour and great value.
We were pleasantly surprised as there was much more to see in the castle than we thought! Purchasing the tickets was easy and the guide was very informative. Highly recommend as it was a great experience. We spent 1.5 hours in the castle and really enjoyed it.
Really easy to purchase the tickets. Great, immediate, communication from viator when we couldn't find the rep. Excellent service, great experience, would definitely recommend. Thank you.
From an ease of booking perspective, 5 stars. From a quality of experience perspective, 1 star. The meeting point was at the park NEXT TO the entry - not at the entry as the ticket indicates. Then you have to download their guided tour app. Get ready to be frustrated trying to get it downloaded especially if you don’t have a data plan while you’re traveling. Then I hope you brought your own AirPods or headphones because if you didn’t then you have to be “that person” playing it on speaker. We just gave up - would have been better to get the headset from the castle. Now, hope you’re ready to hike - you’re created with a plenty long ramp that you have to ascend - the views when you get all the way to the top are worth it but it is a haul. Coming down has its own treachery - that same steep ramp gets you picking up a little speed as you descend.
We were given very clear and detailed instructions prior to our entry to Castel Sant Angelo. The meeting point was easy to find and we were given instructions to download the app for the guide. (This was a self guided tour) This place is amazing and well worth the money and your time. Leave yourself 2 hours to really see it all. Be aware there is a lot of climbing and steps if that’s an issue for you.
we got charge in $89 (EUR 78)for two tickets ! , on the package it’s said include audio. When we received the ticket, it’s only showed EUR 18 without audio. The Crown Tour told us to download their app which is not official audio guide and it’s hard to use. We felt we were over chraged. If we know they did this , we would not purchase with Viator.
The guide did not show up with the audio guides so we walked thru on our own. We feel like part or all of our fee should be refunded.
Didn’t know much about the location and turned out to be a great start to our trip. Opportunities for some great views and the tour was generally good, although in a few places certain things had been changed in rooms so audio didn’t match what you could see. I guess you would have to book directly with venue for this. More info about ticket collection would be useful. There was no official pick up point just a person with tickets so it took a while to work this out as it was our first tour on the holiday.
Guide was there early and I was able to get my entry ticket an hour earlier. It was not a guided tour so I made my visit at my own pace! Very happy with my experience!
The castle is worth seeing but the overall experience was frustrating. Audio files were not in order and impossible at times to know what you are supposed to be listening to. Lots of small spaces in castle with too many people.
Absolutely awesome. So much fun and very beautiful views of the towns. Roberto and captain were very enjoyable!
We had such a lovely and fun experience visiting Castel Sant’Angelo! The view was absolutely beautiful, especially as we made our way up to the very top. Seeing Rome from there was definitely one of my favorite parts of the visit. The history of the castle was also incredible and made the whole experience even more interesting. We really enjoyed our time there, and a special thank you to Crown Tours for making the experience even more enjoyable and easy for us. We had such a great time and would definitely recommend visiting Castel Sant’Angelo to anyone coming to Rome
Exhibitions seem to have changed since the audio tour was recorded and audio checkpoints were out of order and confusing
Good tour and great experience
The Castel is an amazing landmark, full of history. Booking with Viator was easy and getting the tickets sorted on the day was pretty straight forward. We enjoyed our time touring the castel.
Our guide was excellent and the whole experience was much better having our guide. The tour company was excellent to work with. Would highly recommend.
Looked all over for guide. Asked for help from castle attendants and they told us where the guides usually were. After 20 minutes gave up and bought tickets at castle. No text, calls, anything. Wasted money!
Good experience. The map directions take you to the end of the path however the agent was at the 1st bench. Not all the slides lined up with each area however you can sort it out.
The history of this structure is fascinating. I never knew what it was or what it was for and was surprised to learn all the purposes it has been used for since it was built by Hadrian
Easy to book and easy to enter and follow the rooms with the audio guide
Smooth booking, communication and everything as promised. Professional Tour operators, in fact the best we have used so far in Rome.
Booked with Crown Tours for the same day. Loved that we could download the audio before we met to pick up tickets. Best quality audio tour with script Enjoyed Castel Saint Angelo. Another must see while in Rome!
Pick up instructions we very precise and easy to find. Rep was polite and efficient. Skip cue was fab, as the cue was quite long. Venue its self was great and well worth a visit.
Virtual tour was great. Be sure to download the app they tell you. Bring a fan with you. It gets hot. Lol.
It was not very hard to find the meeting location, although it would help to include a snapshot of the meeting place. It was good to include the "color shirt" of the person we were supposed to locate. While the audio followed the numbering sequence at the start, it "lost" its sequencing later on. In other words, the audio did not match what came next. It was clear there were additional exhibits being added and the audio guide did not get updated. This was lacking and exasperating at times. For the money, this was not worth it considering everything was "self-serve", so to speak. Would have been better if the tour was a "real" person guided tour.
We had a great time exploring the castle. We used the audio tour and could explore at our own pace. Definitely worth seeing.
This is a great option if you are worried about a line to purchase tickets. You are given clear instructions where to pick up the tickets and you are directed toward a purchased tickets line for entry, it was a seamless process.
The tour operator’s role is minimal. They meet you 15 minutes before and hand you your printed ticket. There was no queue so paying for skip the line was not necessary. The Castel has a very interesting history which was good to learn about. The views across the city and to St. Peiter’s Basilica are fantastic.
It was a great experience look for the purple umbrella on the side of the entrance Highly recommended
When you first walk into the castle, it is kinda a hike to get to the top and looks a little underwhelming. HOWEVER, once to the starting floors, there are some of the most gorgeous rooms and insane views. There are so many pathways that connect and keep transporting to new and interesting things. There is even a cafe you can get a snack and drink at. At top, there is a gorgeous view that allows you to see so much of the city and is 100% worth it. I will note however, it is not very handicap accessible. There is elevator down but not on the way up and my grandmother struggled a bit.
This was a great tour to take, had areas to take a break and sit, restrooms, castle and exhibits were really interesting
Turns out I learned a distant relative of mine helped create the statue of St. Michael the Archangel, Nicola Michetti!
Better than expected. Some good rooms to see, fairly demanding steps, the view from the top was worth the ticket cost!
This was not a “guided” tour, other than the somewhat limited audio guide they provided. And l, skipping the line, at least for us, was irrelevant. It actually took more time to meet up with them, get vouchers, and then enter than it would have been just to walk up and go.
This was a very cool place to visit. The views from the top were amazing! I highly recommend this. We received a downloadable audio guide from the tour company, and it was informative. We ended up mostly just wandering around but it was worth it to read/listen to. We spent about an hour there. There is limited air conditioning so in many places, it’s pretty warm! Some rooms were cooler than others.
Easy meet up, great customer service.
This place was so kool. There's a wonderful 360 degree view all over the place where you can see pretty much all of Romw.
Read directions on how to get your ticket. It’s not as clear as picking up at the ticket office. You go to a nearby park and look for staff with purple shirts. The staff are located at the back of the nearby park to give you your ticket. Then redeem ticket in the main door that leads to the Castle.
Booked this before we left home....I would recommend anyone to do this as queues sometimes get get lengthy and we managed to skip all this. Got the audio guide on my phone which you get when you get there. Meeting was straight forward enough and went very smoothly. The castle itself was well worth seeing.
The audio option was great, the ladies at the meeting place were very helpful.
Brilliant day out recommend the roof top terrace for brilliant views!
Great experience for a good price! The Castle is stunning - you think you’ve seen the best of it and then something else comes around. Simple booking process and meeting point instructions which is good for solo travellers. I took around 90 minutes in the castle but if you’re with a group I’d allocate 2 hours :)
I'm giving this 3 stars because I thought the process was complicated. I had to download an app, then meet someone that I couldn't find to get my actual ticket. I wasn't told beforehand to meet the purple shirt people but didn't see anyone at all at the meeting appt. Then they has to take my Viator ticket and make it an official ticket. And there wasn't a line to skip so I probably paid way more than I should have.
Received our tickets at the meeting point. They were friendly and no issues. Would use them again to book!
Easy to get tickets. Very helpful.
