Exceptional!!! Very knowledgeable and personable. Couldn’t have asked for a better tour with sites we would have likely missed without his expertise. A must do tour for any Christian whether or not on pilgrimage. Without question would book another tour.
Roberto is one of the treasures of Rome! Taking a tour with Roberto was like taking a tour with your own personal historian. He is obviously a scholar of church history and was able to quickly take us through many churches in our 3.5 hours while pointing out many unique details. I am looking forward to booking with him again when we come back next year! Thank you!!
There are so many churches in Rome that it's impossible to visit them all as a tourist, let alone get to know what makes each one unique. This is a fantastic tour if you want to get more intimate with the handful of more unique churches. Roberto was a fantastic guide! Very knowledgeable and passionate. 10/10 would do another tour with him to explore other churches the next time we visit Rome. Pro tip, grab lunch with Roberto afterwards! He took us to a local Italian restaurant in Rome with no tourists (from what we could tell) and helped ordered a bunch of daily specials we would have never seen on the menu.
This was one of my favorite tours I did while in Italy. Roberto was so knowledgeable. Every time we went in a church and looked at paintings, he had stories to tell. When you go into a church and know the history behind it, it makes it so much more meaningful. Some times, he talked very fast and then I couldn't understand him, but other than that, he was amazing, this tour was amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone while visiting Rome. Thanks Roberto, for the great history lessons of Rome!!
The experience was beautiful and very informative. Our guide Roberto was very knowledgeable on the subject manner, he offered a lot of insight on the history of the Catholic Church and the architecture and sculptors as well as the noble families associated. Would definitely recommend this tour with Roberto. Was my top tour experience in Rome by far.
I have been to the Eternal City multiple times. Last year I learned about the small group tours offered by the Treasure of Rome. I joined three and they were guided by Roberto. His tours were truly remarkable. He is a great storyteller with profound knowledge of Rome. After his tours, every church, every piazza, every fountain, every fresco, every sculpture takes on a different visual and emotional response from me. I enjoyed his tours so much I came back this year for more. No hesitation recommending the tours.
Had a wonderful, private tour with Roberto, to churches off the beaten path. Had thorough explanations of the significance of each church, the popes and saints involved, and the frescoes and statues I saw. Not a religious person, but enjoy this immensely from a historical perspective. Highly recommend!
This tour was a hidden gem. My wife and I were so glad we did this tour. Our guide Roberto was a studied historian and provided details we would have never discovered on our own. The historical significance of each church was amazing and the history and discussions of church history were fascinating. Even the background of Holy Doors was provided. Highly recommended for people interested in Rome history of the city and the church. Tour was over 3 hours so be prepared to walk and enjoy the sites and learn! Outstanding
Roberto was so amazing! We enjoyed our tour immensely!! He was very knowledgeable. These churches will forever remain in our minds. Pictures can never do justice for what we felt while experiencing it.
The tour of the Holy Doors was amazing. I've been to Rome before, but never took this tour! It really gives you a lot of knowledge of the religious side of Rome! All the different churches and Basillicas were stunning! Roberto was an excellent guide and added so much more depth to what we were seeing! I highly recommend you add this tour to your itinerary!
We originally took this tour in December 2025 and decided to repeat on our December 2026 trip to Rome. Much of the credit goes to our guide, Roberto, and his deep knowledge of the history of the Church. As 2025 is Jubilee year, we also wanted the opportunity to walk through the Holy Doors which we were able to do at two Basilicas on this tour: Santa Maria Maggiore and San Giovanni in Laterano. Highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting an immersive journey into the heart of the Catholic Church’s sacred traditions.
I was lucky enough to do this tour on my own. Roberto., the guide is very knowledgeable, patient and truly loves his job. I thought I was going to see some Basílicas and Holy Doors but I ended up having an amazing experience, finding places I didn't know existed and that I could have never gone without this tour and guide. I was deeply emotional through the duration of it. Tour requires a bit of walking, but most of the places are within 5 or 10 mins from each other so it's not that hard to complete. If you are a religious person or simply love amazing structures and history you would love this. Roberto also gave me tips of places nearby to go at the end of the tour that made my experience even more magic. I hope I can come back to Rome with friends and family and be able to do this tour again. Gracias Roberto.!
Not what we expected. We’re first timers and knew nothing about Rome.. For small group of 4 people only, we should have been informed ahead of where we going or have printed information about it. It was quite a bit of walking and the distances between buildings was long.
Truly brilliant tour of all them major basilicas in Rome. Insightful, intelligent and incredibly informative guide. Don’t hesitate to take this amazing tour.
Roberto is a competent and knowledgeable guide, who navigates expertly through and between the Holy Door sites. He is very responsive to questions. 5-star guide. Highly recommend.
Wonderful experience with Roberto!! Very knowledgeable and provided insight that we don’t think we would have gotten with another tour guide. He provided different aspects and history of the buildings that we toured. Highly recommend!!!
This was a fantastic tour. Roberto was extremely knowledgeable and very thorogh. We appreciated all of his insights and tips.
So fortunate to join Roberto’s tour! His in-depth knowledge of religion and church history came to life through captivating stories at every site we visited. He introduced every church, fresco, statue, painting and relic with fascinating context and engaging detail. I highly recommend Roberto’s tour - you’ll leave informed, inspired and motivated to learn more.
An amazing experience definitely better to do a small group and be able to get one on one conversation with the tour guide. We will definitely be booking again in the future for the rest of the tours.
My husband and I traveled to Rome for the first time. Our main reason was to visit the most important churches in Rome. Roberto our tour guide was prompt and extremely knowledgeable in the history. It was a walking tour and he took the time to answer our questions. We learned so much from this tour and it went beyond our expectations. We visited churches that had he not taken us there, we would’ve just passed them without noticing them. We never felt rushed or bored with his information. This tour was definitely the highlight of our trip. We made sure to have his contact information so that we can share it with the family and for our next visit.
This tour was very interesting and unique. The guide, Roberto, provided a substantial amount of detail regarding the various basilicas and churches visited and the many relics they contain. He is very knowledgeable with respect to religious history. The small group size made it easier to navigate through busy basilicas and for Roberto to communicate with us at a volume respectful to our surroundings. This tour may be difficult for individuals with mobility challenges, as it is very fast-paced and involved a significant amount of walking with no rest breaks and very few opportunities to sit. Roberto also offers the same tour in multiple languages. While the other individuals on our tour could speak English as well, I would have been disappointed if the tour was repeated in two languages throughout. I think Roberto’s wonderful tour could be improved if he offered it in just one language at a given time and if he added a washroom or rest break in the middle (as it can feel awkward to request to pause the tour for one). I would highly recommend this tour if you are interested in Catholic history and sites.
Roberto was a great guide! The small group allowed us to have an insightful journey especially in the jubilee year to better understand the history and art behind these magnificent churches in Rome. I was originally looking for a tour to just go through holy doors but stumbled upon this tour which seemed pretty unique and I’m so glad with my choice.
This was the best tour I ever had. I have seen churches which are real treasures. The guide Roberto is fantastic! I fully recommend the tour! The group was small which made the tour even more special.
Incredibly knowledgeable. Went out of his way to explain in great detail information about the churches we visited.. I highly recommend this tour if you enjoy the history of catholicism.
You need to be able to walk about 2-3 miles, slight incline, irregular cobblestones, and stairs of different shapes and sizes
Loved this! Roberto did such a great job again. Would recommend. He is very knowledgeable about area churches. Still learned new stuff because it’s so much information it’s hard to retain it all the first time.
Excellent for those interested in church history. Our guide was so well prepared and informative. Many special places absent the roads. Ideal for a “rest day”
Roberto is an excellent guide who takes time to give the history and answer questions and explain nuances of pictures and statues you probably wouldn't notice normally and the experience of The Holy Doors is one I will carry with me. I highly recommend!
I was so impressed by our tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable of the Holy Doors and provided great information on them. He also took us other out of the way churches that were amazing. I highly recommend this tour company as they take the time really do a deep dive of Rome and its treasures.
When we arrived at the Statue of John Paul II, it was very hot and the August sun was beating down as we waited for the other couple to join us for a small group of four. It's a telling thing that rather than make space for us to stand in the small shadow of the statue for shade, the guide made sure to stand there himself while we stood in the sun. The guide is young, intelligent, and remarkably well-informed, but unlike other small group/individual tour guides we've had in the past, he didn't give much thought to the comfort of his guests. For instance, he walked very quickly both up and down steps, and we managed to keep up, but we are middle-aged people at the end of a month-long vacation and were tired. Most small group/individual guides we've had are very quick to adjust to the comfort of their guests. Further, at no point in 3 hours did the guide point out a nearby bathroom in case we needed one. Thankfully we didn't, but again, for a higher priced small group/individual tour, we would have expected him to pay attention to the need for older people to take bathroom breaks - especially in a city like Rome where bathrooms are hard to find. As I noted earlier, we were a small group of four and we booked an English speaking guide, but the other couple only spoke Spanish. So the guide had to go back and forth between English and Spanish, thereby giving us only half as much time to ask questions and learn from him. That was very disappointing because he is a very well-informed as passionate guide. Finally, on our itinerary, the 7th stop is a 20 minute visit to the Pontifical Sanctuary of the Holy Stairs. That never happened. Instead, as we exited the church that was the 6th stop on the itinerary, the guide merely pointed out that the steps were a little down the road from our ending point and we could go there if we wanted. We would do it again if we had too because we really did see some less well known treasures, but it's too bad because we thought our guide was extremely well-informed, but it just didn't meet what we typically receive from a small group/individual tour.
I can't stress enough as to the value of this tour and the experience my family had with Roberto. This was our first visit to Rome and a Jubilee Year on top of it. So much about planning the trip was overwhelming but finding Roberto and this tour was the diamond in the rough. He went through extra efforts to facilitate a private tour with us and I learned SOOOOO much. I wish we would have found him earlier as I would have used Roberto for ALL of our tours in Rome. His knowledge and communication was EXCELLENT. This tour was the only tour that didn't feel rused and overwhelming. It was very personal and allowed me to feel my connection with the church. Thank you! I have family visiting Rome in August and will ensure ROBERTO and Tresures of Rome is on their list.
Roberto was excellent! He is extremely knowledgeable and explained much of the history and theology of the churches and frescos. The churches are a must see and to have a guide who can point out important facts that we were unaware of made it even more special! We definitely recommend this tour!
Our family really enjoyed our tour with Roberto. He was very knowledgeable and has great passion for Rome. We all learned so much about the churches we toured. This tour was a nice change from the crowded tours at the Vatican and Colosseum. I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in church history.
Excellent and effortless way to see a few of the Holy Doors and so much more in a condensed amount of time. Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and reverent (which was appreciated). Don’t hesitate to book this tour
Our adventure of Rome began with a magnificent, fast paced, information packed, personable, tour of many churches with Roberto. Roberto's sincere interest, passion as a guide, and knowledge base became evident from the start of our tour. We enjoyed many highlights. Passing through the Jubilee Doors St Marie Maggiore and St John Lateran coupled with Roberto's insight of the churches was a heart warming experience. We saw where Pope Francis laid to rest in St Marie Maggiore Roberto had a couple hours before his next tour so we were lucky enough to end our tour with a great lunch with Roberto at the quaint, Buoni Amici Roma restaurant. My wife and Roberto decided a seafood antipasto and prosciutto and mozzarella that would tickle the tastebuds... From the restaurant, he walked with us to the Colosseum, showing us a great vantage point to take a few pictures. I would recommend wearing shoes with substantial soles to more comfortably walk on the cobblestone. We highly recommend using Roberto's tour guide expertise. Whether you choose "Between the Holy Doors" or one of his other Treasured Tours of Rome, you won't be disappointed.
Roberto is an excellent guide with great knowledge about all the churches we visited, I have been to Rome a few times and had tours but none were as informative as this tour Grazie
Excellent tour with detailed information inside each church. Efficiently organized, professionally delivered, focused on the history and art of each church without any distractions. Must do tour while in Rome.
This tour was exceptional. In themselves the Chiezas were beautiful and the knowledge that our guide shared made our visits so much more special. We left with a gift of the heart and a jubilee to remember for years.
Experienced guide, that explains all the churches we went, esp the holy door of St John Lettan& St Mary Major
Roberto, our guide, was exceptional, He ‘s very knowledgeable, very patient & helpful, with an elderly like me, highly recommended
Robert was very knowledgeable about the sites which we visited! The walking pace was good for me! I saw and learned about sites which I had not visited before! The scavi under the Church of St. Sylvester and St. Martin was one of the highlights of the tour! I will definitely book Treasures of Rome again!
Roberto is so knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the information and the various nuggets during tour of the various churches. I got to know of the various relics of saints the churches had, the history of Christianity. Rome is really Caput Mundi. I have been to Rome quite a few times, and done a few tours, Roberto’s tour is really different and informative. In fact, we have just signed up for Beyond the Tiber tomorrow.
I was very impressed with the wealth of information Roberto had for every site visited on the itinerary. To get to every one of these places one would first have had to do a lot of research on these holy sites and second be able to map this out. Not an easy task. This tour has much thought and planning and gives a tourist or pilgrim a great flavor and an appetite to see even more. I'm amazed how much was covered within three hours! This is very worthwhile!
What an amazing and personal experience! Roberto is a wealth of knowledge and the intimacy of his tours was such a perfect way to experience other basilicas that may never be visited. I can’t begin to list all of the things that we learned and how valuable this tour is. We would have left and had missed so much! He makes us anxious to come back and try his other tours, to learn even more!
Excellent tour! Our knowledgeable guide went above and beyond. Best tour of our entire trip. Guide’s passion for Rome history and appreciation for art, architecture is passed on throughout the tour. Our teens really enjoyed the treasures revealed throughout this tour!
Our guide Roberto was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. We saw unexpected treasures and I highly recommend his tour
This is a one of kind experience specially with a guide like Roberto whose combined the wealth of knowledge in the history of those locations and their significant rule in establishing the Christianity in eternal city.
We enjoyed this itinerary as there was something unique about each church. Roberto was very knowledgeable and responsive to our many questions. He keeps the tours to a small group which is much more manageable and respectful in the churches. The pace was good. You should know that there was only one hill to walk but there are many stairs. You will certainly get your 10,000 steps in with this tour. I would definitely recommend this tour.
This was one of the best tours we went on while visiting Italy. The guide was just great. My only wish was that we had a written review of tour! Such great information, but forgot some of it.
