Itinerary
Meet our expert local guide at Piazza San Simeone next to the fountain.
Walk through one of the most pittoresque street of Rome
Admire the oldest Market of Rome (open in the morning)
Ponte Sisto, or Sisto Bridge, is one of the most popular bridges in Rome crossing the Tiber River and connecting Rome’s historic centre with Trastevere. It offers one of the most beautiful perspectives on St. Peter’s Church and Rome’s skyline.
Walking with our guide through the streets and intricate alleys of Trastevere, you will be able to discover some of the most amazing and well-kept secrets of this city and breathe the true Roman spirit. That’s why the area is commonly referred to as “the heart of Rome”. Trastevere is a district that lies on the west side of the Tiber, south of the Vatican City. This area has kept, almost untouched, a unique authentic charm. When you wander through the streets, you will feel as if you are in a movie, set two, three or maybe more centuries ago. Here, time has left its mark in a co-existence of architectural elements belonging to different historical periods. But, that alone, cannot fully explain the magic of Trastevere. In fact, Romans consider this district a sort of “keeper” of past traditions, and love to come here to explore boutiques, emporiums and craft shops or meet friends for a fun night out.
With regard to the Fountain in Piazza Maria in Trastevere, an aura of mystery and legend still lingers around its origins. Indeed, according to tradition, this is the oldest fountain in Rome dating back to the 8th century, but the exact date of its construction is still unknown. The Fountain in Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere was also featured in a city map dating back to 1471, designed by Pietro del Massaio. In his original drawing, the fountain featured two basins, one above the other, pouring water into the basin below.
The tour ends in Piazza di San Giovanni della Malva.

Wonderful guide Analetta? (Forgive me, horrible with names) She was delightful and fun to hang out with and see this beautiful area through her eyes. I would consider coming back and staying in area because of her!
Casual walk with good food. Knowledgeable guide. Fun time. Easy meeting location. Small group. Excellent
Phenomenal experience!!! Our guide Giancarlo was such a gem. Incredibly knowledgeable, kind, fun of fun stories and life wisdom. We had such a great time and we went to so many places that we never would have seen or gone otherwise. Giancarlo was also clearly incredibly passionate about Rome, its history, and its food and that absolutely made the difference in experience. He even walked us to our bus stop and helped us find our bus at the end <3 best time ever!!
Fun tour and great to visit small local places.
Our guide Flame was very personable & full of knowledge. It was a unique, customized experience. We all sampled dishes new to us. Everyone came away fully satisfied and impressed by the variety of dishes.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic food tour around Trastevere! We had such a great time exploring this lovely part of Rome, trying some amazing food along the way. Our guide was brilliant, really friendly, knowledgeable and made the whole experience great fun. A perfect mix of delicious food, local history and laughs. Definitely one of the highlights of our time in Rome and would highly recommend!
What makes a great food tour? The food! And, the guide!! Daniele did not disappoint with his personality, humor and knowledge of the best local places to eat in Rome. We loved getting to experience the local flavors and culture of his favorite restaurants and he made the expereince so much fun. This food tour was one of our highlights of our trip in Rome. We loved discovering authentic local specialities, learning where the locals eat and why, and hearing the fascinating history behind the foods and tradtions of Rome. My husband and I enjoyed going back to three of the restaurants on other days. If you're visiting Rome and want to eat like a local, learn some history, and have a lot of laughs along the way, this tour is a must! We highly recommend it. Thanks Daniele!! ~ Your Texas Friends!
Best food and history tour! Emilia was excellent, very informative with sharing Rome history and food. Every place we stopped to eat had the best tasting food. I highly recommend and maybe ask for her as a guide. Come hungry
I’m just home from Italy and writing my reviews. The Trastevere food tour was fabulous. The food selections were perfect, and our guide gave us some history of the area as we walked. One of the best pizzas we had on our trip.
Livvy was a great guide - warm and welcoming with a great sense of humour. We wandered the streets with Livvy telling us the locality’s history and stopped 5 times for food and a drink. The quality of the food was really good and we enjoyed hearing about its origins. A lovely way to spend 2.5 hours.
We loved this food tour! We had a group of 10 people, and which was the perfect size. We made a total of 5 stops, each with something delicious to eat. Flammetta was our tour guide, and she did a fantastic job of explaining the history of the dishes we tried. She was kind, funny, and very knowledgeable. I would recommend doing this on your first day in Rome so that you can scope out some places to eat. Our guide also gave some recommendations in addition to the places we stopped at. Very helpful!
Ferrara made this tour the best! She was very passionate and informative. The food was not only very tasty. It was more than enough! We were stuffed!
This was a great experience! Our guide, Silvia, was so great, she answered every question with a smile and took us to great spots to eat.
Great tour around local Rome places. Guide was amazing and entertained both adults and kids. Would definitely recommend the tour.
Alessandro was the best tour guide. His enthusiasm and knowledge was over the top. He made the experience so great and really helped us in answering questions and even showed us directions to getting us home in the pouring down rain. NOTE: Although my hunger was satisfied, it wasn’t an overwhelming amount of food.
This was our favorite tour. Our guide Daniel was exceptional. He is an archeologist and so of course is extremely knowledgeable making him the Indiana Jones of food tours. He is also friendly and funny and explained everything in a way that kept our whole family engaged. We got to try so many wonderful foods and learned the history behind them. This tour is a must for anyone visiting Rome and wanting to learn more about its food and culture. Ask for Daniel!
Giancarlo was an excellent guide The tasting sessions and explanations were informative and fun. The history as we walked very interesting. A Five star guide and a really great way to see Rome and enjoy Roman treats
This was a great experience. Lily did a great job of taking us around the city and giving us history as well as great places to eat! Highly recommend if wanting to taste a little of the Rome/Italy culture
The Street Food Tour was a fun highlight while in Rome and Dan was a terrific guide. Dan led us to the best restaurants for supli, porchetta panini, pizza, canoli, and gelato while telling us the interesting history of each landmark and piazza we passed through. I would highly recommend! Thanks, Dan!
Come hungry and try everything. Alessandra, our guide was wonderful. Lots of information, suggestions and a lot of fun. Highly recommend you do it on your first full day so you get the advice on where to eat.
The food we sampled was all delicious! Our tour guide (Alessandra) was Fantastic- very entertaining as well as knowledgeable.
Great overview of Roman food and architecture. Terrific guide and group interaction was really fun. I went with a friend but there were several solo travelers who we met that made it even more fun. I would recommend
Excellent tour! Value, plenty of delicious food to sample and the most gracious guide. Allesandra was knowledgeable, kind, funny, engaging and very friendly.
Our particular morning with Daniel was excellent. He is funny, very knowledgeable, and accommodating to all. History thrown in with food education. Very generous portions! Go hungry.
Anna was amazing! 10 out of 10!! We went on the evening food tour which doesn't go to the same places as the morning tour which was a nice surprise because I took it 2 years ago - both BTW highly recommended. The food was very good but to be honest, what made the tour excellent was the explanations and the background Anna added in various places. I've been on a lot of tours around the globe and this one was top 5 easy.
This is an excellent tour. The food was delicious and our guide, Juan Carlo, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended!
Giancarlo was a great guide for the food, sites and suggestions on navigating Rome. All the food was excellent
Very informative, wonderful guide
Daniele was a fantastic tour guide - delicious food, engaging history and never felt rushed. Thank you!
I’ve done many a food tour in different countries and very much enjoyed this one. Whilst some reviews have mentioned there was less food given on this tour, I think that was reflected in the price as this is very inexpensive compared to other options. We really enjoyed everything we tried and it was lovely to walk around Trastevere in the evening. Shout out to Alessandro, our guide. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and took great care of all of the guests.
A fantastic food and walking tour. Fiammetta was a brilliant guide, with so much knowledge and historic insights. She took us to some amazing food stops - porcetta sandwiches, gelato, wine, suppli, pizza - so much delicious food!
Emily was a fantastic guide thru Trastavere! Very knowledgeable and fun! Was a great experience in getting to know a Roman neighborhood we had never experienced
Excellent service from our guide, Anna, who gave an in depth history of the food tasting we experienced. It's not just a food tour, but also a history of some of sections of old Roman neighborhoods. This tour should be on everyone's must do when in Rome! Cheers!
Alessandro was a great host, very animated and she went out of her way to create a great atmosphere and bring her group together as a 'family'. The information she provided was very interesting and we enjoyed seeing some new parts of Rome.
Great guide with good food. The tour also included various historical stops and a beautiful church to end the evening.
Excellent variety of Roman street foods with the best guide Lilly! She was entertaining, informational and went out of her way to accommodate some vegan options for one in our party. Food was fantastic!
What a thoroughly lovely way to spend a few hours. We joined the Street Food Tour around Trastevere and Campo de' Fiori, and it turned out to be a brilliant decision. Our guide, Giulia, was marvellous - gently witty, wonderfully engaging, and full of splendid stories that took us nicely off the usual tourist track. As for the food, every single stop delivered the goods. We ambled our way through piping-hot supplì, excellent panini, top-drawer pizza, pillow-soft maritozzi, and proper gelato to finish. The three hours sped by in an absolute flash, and honestly, we’d have happily trotted along after her for another three. Giulia also sent us on our way with some cracking local recommendations for the rest of our trip. A charming afternoon and an absolute winner all round.
It was a great experience with Flam, she provided history and food lessons and was a wonderful guide.
It was a last minute booking for us and glad we did it ! Alessandro was our host and he was very helpful and cheerful and inclusive of everyone. Like the other reviews mentioned - there is a fair amount of food tour taste. While small portions - it is quite filling and we didn’t end up having dinner . It was a good to see the Trastevere at night too where it was very lively ! Thanks Alessandro !
Don’t eat at lunch time lol , as the food is amazing and plentiful!! You will enjoy this tour . Our tour guide was incredible and informative
This is an amazing tour! Our tour guide was Lilly and she was so knowledgeable about the history of Rome and the best local food spots. We tried food that we wouldn’t have known about if we didn’t do the tour. Lilly was confident and entertaining, and we felt like she really knew what she was talking about. She also shared with us her recommendations for places that she goes to herself for food and shopping which is invaluable information to have!
Our guide was fantastic, Julia was amazing and made for a wonderful experience.
This food tour was enjoyable! A must do experience when visiting Roma. Our tour guide was amazing and so personable.
Loved this tour. It covered both Travestere and another neighborhood. Five well chosen food stops, plus a public market tasting, and lots of food. Our guide made it an historic and cultural tour as well, enriching the experience. This was one of the best food tours I have taken, and I usually do them in every new city I visit. Our guide did a great job
A good variety of savoury and sweet food and drinks that filled our tummies and introduced us to the local food. Also a nice way to see the Trastevere area. Greta was an excellent tour guide - she was very knowledgeable about the food and the area. Grazie!
Great food tour with a great guide. Our guide, Ferrara Fiammetta Maria, was fantastic introducing us to unique local area foods. It was a great tour! I highly recommend it.
We had a lovely afternoon with Emilia. She shared great locations and foods with us. She was passionate and engaging and made us all feel welcome. Thank you again Emilia, for a lovely afternoon.
Leonardo was a very thoughtful tour guide! He explained everything about the food and the history behind the different stops very well. It’s great to have a guide who clearly enjoys what he does!
Can't recommend this tour enough. Julia was a terrific guide and the tour was a perfect mix of fantastic food and sightseeing. She has the passion and knowledge that only a local could offer.
