Loved this trip, my favorite part of my Rome / Italy trip with my boyfriend. We went on a trip with a travel group to Rome and we saw Rome obviously, Florence. And we decided to book this on one of our free days and tbh this was my favorite. The food in Naples is amazing and not to mention you get to explore Pompeii!!

This trip is very well organized and full of history along with wonderful sites to see. We very much enjoyed this tour.
Serena was excellent guide, very informative. Amazed of the size of Pompeii
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Pompeii. The guide was very knowledgeable, and learning all that history was amazing. We also did a brief tour of Naples which, while it was fascinating, was honestly a bit anemic when compared to Pompeii. Naples was very busy, even more so than Rome itself. Not bad at all! Just not our cup of tea. Our lunch was also amazing. Train rides included. 10/10 would recommend.
What a fantastic day! Carla was an excellent guide for this tour. Pompeii is incredible. We had a nice lunch that was very well organized. Short tour of Naples was just right, what a beautiful city
A highlight on our Rome vacation. Our guide Claudia was fantastic on sharing her knowledge of Pompeii and naples with us. Pompeii is a “must see” when visiting Italy.
TOUR IS VERY MISLEADING Meet up: We are comfortable riding the train, but they did not tell us that they would not be riding and guiding us through the train station. They basically told us which train to get on, which stop to get off of and where to meet the guide. This can be confusing to guests who are not comfortable riding the train and don’t know the language. Pompeii: Our guide was great. She gave us a lot of information but the tour was only 2 hours. She said that we were not supposed to stop at the book store after the museum, that we would have time afterwards. But it only ended up being a 15 min restroom break with no time to check the store. Restaurant: Honestly, the food was not good. Bread was stale as a rock. You couldn’t get your teeth through it. Pizza was soggy and bland. Salad was also weird and bland. Gelato had chunks of ice in it. It felt like a cafeteria assembly line pushing food out. It just wasn’t food. Naples: This is what made the tour a let down for us. After eating we expected to get a full tour of Naples. But it ended up being a bus tour around Naples. Driving around and pointing out buildings was underwhelming. We got out for 5 mins to take pictures of the Med. Then hopped back in the bus to drive towards the shopping district where our guide took us to the galleria. Our “Free Time” was only 25 minutes. What an absolute let down. We were in Naples! The birthplace of Pizza! What would have been a better experience was to eat at a restaurant in Naples near the Med and have their authentic artesian pizza. We didn’t get to experience anything that Naples was iconic for. I read the response from the owner on another review that said details were clearly indicated but that is not true. The full details of the trip, Naples being a bus tour, Pompeii only 2 hours. “Free time” only being 25 mins is NOT listed anywhere before you pay for the tour guide. We truly expected to venture out into Naples more. Picture I The tour guide was the only reason why we gave this tour any stars. She was sweet, informative and very proud of Naples. We learned a lot from her.
The tour was great!! Once we got to the train station, the guide was very friendly and patient. She got us on the correct train. Once we got to Naples, the tour guide was there and lead us to the bus and on to Pompeii. She was very great. Even as we got rained on, she was very concerned for us. The only problem we had, was when we were going back to Rome, the guide there told us to wait in a area and she would be back. She never came back!! Luckly, we foud the correct train.
Our guide was excellent. She was very knowledgable and made the experience fun and enjoyable.
Our guide was amazing, very friendly was easy to understand. We were traveling with 4 teenage girls, so he asked us about more sensitive topics before talking about them or showing them to us, which we appreciated. The tour was a good amount of time when traveling with teenagers 15-16y. The lunch was wonderful and big, they kept bringing us food and we could not finish it. The buses AC worked amazingly well. The driver was very nice. the guide answered all of our questions and was very patient with the girls. 10/10
Pompeii was an amazing archeological site as you would expect. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made sure we all understood what we were looking at. Antonio was professional and kind, he paid attention to the adults as well as the children. The winery lunch after the tour was over the top! The food was incredible an fresh with simple ingredients and the wine/limoncello was delicious. This excursion was a highlight of our trip. The winery was great for our daughter who is 10 and 2 friends she made while on the tour to explore and run around in after a day of walking through history. The winery is beautiful and the staff was very friendly.
The walking portion of the tour was a little too fast - didn't have time to admire and or learn about the scenery. Granted it was very very hot when we did this tour and I think everyone wanted to just get into AC. Meeting point not well marked or explained at the train station. Guides seemed a little impatient and harried. Again, to be fair, it was almost a 100 degrees Faranheit out.
The trip was spectacular. Our guide, Felicia , was outstanding. More than qualified to lead us through the ruins of Pompeii, she gave us the highlights and interesting facts with enthusiasm. The high speed train and motor coach transpiration were awesome. The tour of Pompeii was fantastic. The wine tasting and lunch afterwards was a great experience and pleasantly surprising- exceeding all expectations. I would highly recommend this tour if you have not been to Pompeii previously. It’s a great way to learn about the city and have fun at the same time.
If you could only pick one day trip from Rome (and wanted to see Pompeii), do this one! Being able to do the high speed train for an hour was so much better than 3 hours on a bus. Having all the transfers prearranged made navigation a breeze. Frederica was our guide in Pompeii and she was so knowledgeable, kind, and patient with my two daughters (aged 2.5 and 6). The wine tasting at Bosch di Medici afterwards was such a nice treat and so relaxing after a busy few hours at Pompeii. I will be recommending this tour to anyone I know who comes to Rome.
This tour was fun and just the right amount of time at each sight. Our driver was amazing in the traffic of Naples and our guide was very informative. It was a long day, but the time on the train was relaxing and it was great to see a little of the countryside.
The best way to see both Pompeii and Naples from Rome for the day. They made it all so easy from the minute we got to the train station. Antonio was just best. The lunch spot was just a perfect spot and really good food. If you get Antonio as your guide, you’re going to have an awesome time.
Well organized trip from Rome with excellent guidance getting on the train and back along with A great tour of Pompeii led by “Enzo” Lunch and Wine tasting was a nice break from the walking of the ruins
Our tour guide was the best. She ruined the rest of our trip because all tours after her were disappointing because they didn’t compare to her. She was amazing. The lunch provided was above and beyond and I’m a huge eater. The pace was perfect. This was our favorite tour of our 2 week trip.
Guide is very knowledgeable and friendly. Lunch was really good! Lots of walking but worth it. Well ran tour
This is a great excursion. Our driver, Antonio and guide Ida were the best. very informative and knowledgeable of both areas.
It was great. Company meet us in Rome and helped us get on the train station to Naples. Then our guide meet us there at train station in Naples. Her name was Karli (I think). She was amazing, friendly, and spoke very good English.
Long day but absolutely worth it! The tour guide was amazing and knew so much information! Good information and great food!
We had a wonderful day touring Pompeii and Naples. Special thanks to our tour guide Antonio for his knowledge and humor. Well worth the trip.
Great trip. Train was easy to navigate. Tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable. Lunch was very good and great service. Pompeii itself was very impressive and worth seeing. Amazing architecture and engineering.
Allot of walking but that was expected. Good tour guide. Got to see all the highlights of Pompeii. Lunch was fantastic. Train was great with help of guides. Van from Naples to Pompeii was really nice. Wish we had a little more time in Naples but I understand you can only do so much in one day. Pompeii was the star of the show. We made the best of the time we had and appreciate the few things we were able to see there.
The communication was very smooth. It's a well organized tour. Our tour guide Lucas and Felicia was awesome and knowledgeable. I pretty much enjoyed the whole time.
This was the tour my husband and I were most looking forward to, and it definitely lived up to the hype. We were a little nervous about the length of the day, but it ended up being very well paced. The Italian rail system is fairly straightforward to navigate, but it was still so helpful having guides available on the ground to keep everything running smoothly and stress-free. Our tour guide was kind, professional, and really enhanced the experience. We left with a much deeper understanding of Pompeii than we would have gotten on our own. By the time we reached Naples, we were a bit tired, but the built-in free time at the end was perfect as it gave everyone the flexibility to explore, grab food, or just relax. Overall, a fantastic and well-organized experience that I would absolutely recommend!
Well organized, every went as planned. Highly recommended. Our guide Carla did an amazing job keeping the group informed and entertained.
This was a pretty good small group tour, the team was great! Excellent communication with the hosts and guide. Only thing I would recommend is that we have someone stay during our lunch it was kind of time consuming waiting at the restaurant for our food, felt like it took a really long time since our guide returned and we had not been served dessert yet and we needed to get to Naples next. The lunch included 3 different types of pizza, croquettes, limoncello, and complimentary water. The guide was very informative and pleasant, I took the Pompeii and Naples tour.
The tour was comprehended and well planned. The train ride from Rome to Naples (and back in the evening) was easy. We had ample time in Pompeii and covered several of the sites. After that, we had good Neapolitan pizza for lunch. We then wrapped up the day with a visit to Naples’ old town. We had ample free time there to enjoy the street food. The guide, Chiara, was knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. The driver Ciro was also professional and efficient. Highly recommend this tour.
Lovely experience in Pompeii and Naples; learned a lot of the history and saw incredible views. Just warning, even though the tour stated that it starts at 8am, you ACTUALLY have to be there at 7:30am ( it is not a suggestion). Since you are going to get on a train , the train actually leaves at 8am. So do not make the mistake I made at arriving at 7:56am because it was very stressful.
This is a very informative and interesting tour had a great time our tour guide Iliana was very good
Fantastic tour!! Highly recommend this tour. From the time we walked into the train station in Rome everything was taken care of. Our tour guide, Chiara, was so knowledgeable and really brought the history alive. The pizza lunch was delicious (and was so happy they were able to accommodate my husband with a gluten free meal). I highly recommend this tour.
Great tour of Pompeii. Chiara was so knowledgeable and a joy to have as our your guide. Highly recommend.
I am glad that my husband and I joined this tour. We were able to visit Pompeii archeology site and the Napoli city highlights. Also,we had delicious pizza and food for lunch. I highly recommend this tour.
We had a wonderful tour of Pompeii with our smart and knowledgeable guide, a native of Naples. Marina would be our go-to any time. Our meal after was top-knotch, with tastes of local cuisine and pizza unlike any we've had. Even with rainy weather, we still enjoyed a pleasant tour of Naples. We highly recommend this tour!
This is a full-day tour that includes several hours in Pompeii, lunch at a nearby restaurant, a bus tour through downtown Naples and then free time to explore the city before the tour ended. Our tour guide, Chiara, was delightful . She was enthusiastic about Naples as her home and excited to share lots of interesting facts and history of Naples with us. Her tour of Pompeii was amazing- we walked for several hours, and saw so many parts of this historic city. Chiara was thorough, answered all of our questions, and kept the group together and moving forward. It was amazing to see how much they have excavated and restored - and how much remains to be done. Though the circumstances of the volcanic eruption were tragic, there was also so much to learn about how life was lived in Pompeii before this happened. Remarkably, so much of the way we engineer and design in present day was already being done "way back then". Our lunch was excellent - pizza, pasta, red wine, and dessert! Our time in Naples came at the end , when we did a bus tour along the coast (stopped for pictures) and then were set free to explore the city for a while. There were a LOT of people milling about, since it was Christmas week, but the city did not feel overly crowded. Very friendly people everywhere. The train from Rome to Naples and back was comfortable and on time. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for a great day trip from Rome!
Overall, the tour had many strengths, particularly the knowledgeable guides and seamless transfers. The train transfers were easy, and the guide at the station was helpful. Our guide who led the Pompeii tour, was excellent; she was very knowledgeable and skilled at communicating information effectively to a diverse group with differing levels of interest. There were, however, some areas for improvement. The dining experience in Naples felt rushed, and the food quality was average. We also felt the tour could be enhanced by reconsidering the itinerary in Naples. As a stop, we found there wasn't much to see, and the general atmosphere was very dirty, depressing and made us feel quite unsafe. Focusing the tour's time and resources on the Pompeii experience, or exploring a different stop, might improve the overall value for future travelers.
We booked a last minute trip to Pompeii thru TripAdvisor. The tour was well organized. A guide met us at the train station to make sure we board the correct train. Once we arrived at Naples, another guide was there to greet us. We were quickly transported in comfortable van to Pompeii. The guide was polite and informative. We enjoyed all the stories and history. After Pompeii, we were transported back to Naples for hour tour around town before returning back to Rome. It was definitely a fun day long excursion outside of Rome
The server at the pizzeria put out tip bowls, and several in the party did not have cash (Euros). Go to the restroom prior to leaving Pompeii for Naples.
Unique experience and it exceeds our expectations especially Marina, our guide in Pompeii and Naples was fantastic and she is breathing the ancient sites, culture and her explanation was really taking us to back in Pompeii time. Lunch was fantastic and felt treated very well with appetizers, 3 different type of pizzas, wine, and desert was fantastic. I certainly recommend my friends and family to this.
This is truly a 12 hour day. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to be amazed. We enjoyed every minute of this tour even with the rain. We had plenty of time with the ruins. They are amazing. Lunch was sit down and they were ready for us with an entire pizza tasting menu complete with dessert and drinks. Wine and beer were included. We had free time in Naples to shop and explore after our bus tour. It was well worth the day and we felt like we saw a lot more of the area than just what was on the itinerary. Definitely recommend.
What a wonderful day! Our day started out a little rocky because we were just coming into Rome late the night before and while we were headed to breakfast we got a call from the tour director asking us where we were. Turns out we missed the email telling us the meeting time and location but luckily we were only a few minutes walk from there and made it to meet the group on time. We really apppreciated the tour taking the time to call us and walk us through it. From there we joined the tour and all was well. Turns out we weren't the only ones having a bad morning. The tour guides train had an accident and she was stuck. So another tour guide took her place on the fly and it would have all been seamless to us had they not told us. The bus driver met us in Naples and we were off to Pompeii. The tour was very informative and there are so many ruins! The site was larger than we expected. We had a pizza tasting menu for lunch that we walked to from the ruins. Beer wine and after dinner drink were included as well as dessert. That was very unexpected and very good taste of Napoli. The afternoon tour of Naples was also good and we had free time to shop and explore. The guides were great and knowledgeable. We were very happy with this excursion. Highly recommend this tour and was worth the day.
Marina was amazing. She provided our group so much information. I don’t know how she remembers it all. There were no questions we asked that she didn’t have answers to. Pompeii is a large site that can’t possibly be seen in a day. She made she we saw a lot of the highlights leaving us feeling like we had a good understanding of daily life before Vesuvius blew. Our driver was Simone. He did a great job getting us to Pompeii from Naples and back. Plus driving us to various sites in Naples. Thank you for a wonderful day.
Simone provided a thorough and interesting tour of Pompeii and introduced her hometown of Naples to us. Everything was timely and professional. She looked after all her guests.
Overall a very good tour - a 4.5. Met most of our expectations. Chiara did a fantastic job guiding us around Pompeii, giving us background before the actual site visit, pointing out important details during the visit, and being clear and organized. Transport went fine. Lunch was ok but not fantastic - a typical group tour lunch. The visit to downtown Naples was less impressive. Walked around for a little while to point out a small number of buildings and then 1.5 hrs on our own in a crowded shopping district. We would have preferred more time in Pompeii.
This was an excellent tour! Stress free and seamless meeting points and comms. We loved riding the high speed train. The restaurant for lunch was perfect and our tour guide Carla was awesome!! She knew so much about our tour stops and we really enjoyed listening to her explanations and stories. If you have time for an easy day trip from Rome I highly recommend!!! Pompeii will not disappoint. :)
I really enjoyed my experience today. Chiara our tour guide was great, and very informative. I didn't feel like we were rushed at all. I highly recommend this tour.
We went on this day trip with our kids age 7 and 9. The guides were very organized and made our day smooth. Once we caught the train to Naples we spent a few hours as a group exploring the sights of Pompeii and then had a delicious pizza lunch. After that we saw some of the main sights of Naples by bus and had free time to walk around as well before returning to Rome. It was a perfect way to get a taste of the area without worrying about the logistics.
Our guide Paola was wonderful. She was very informative and did a great job herding us around Pompeii. Lunch was delicious and the tour of Naples was very interesting.
