Our guide Olga was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable about Roman history as well as food. She took us to multiple restaurants and showed us other good places to eat along the way. She was on time, friendly and engaging.

Not customised, not knowledgeable, not engaging. Our experience has not been what we were promised. We actually experienced the opposite of a customised tour with a friendly and knowledgeable local: Not customised: When matching with a guide the organisation has assigned us a guide before we could even say what we are looking for prefer. The guide has sent a message asking about preferences which we did hoping we will have some description of their plan. They never answered. On the day we felt like going through a cookie cutter experience that did not really consider our message. Example: We said that we were not interested in the Colosseum because we already had a tour another day. The guide brought us there anyway and started giving us wiki level knowledge on the Colosseum, we had to tell them to skip the antique park. I wonder whether they even read the message. Not knowledgeable: The guide was not really knowledgeable about history and gave us very minimal wikipedia level descriptions of monuments. Simple follow up questions like: “Where are all Rome’s obelisks coming from?” were unanswered. I could’ve done the walking tour with wikipedia to the same effect. I thought the guides were carefully selected, clearly not. Not engaging: For the most part we felt the guide was very low energy and not engaging. They lightened up in the final hour after WE started engaging with them and started asking about the day to day life. We did manage to get some good recommendation, after asking. (This is the reason why I put 2 and not 1 star on the review). For the price, this was really not up to our expectations. It was a disappointing way to start our trip in Rome.

I recently visited Rome with a friend, and even though I’ve been there several times before, it still felt like my first visit. There’s something truly magical about the city—every corner has something beautiful or historic to discover, and it never gets old. One of the highlights of our trip was a three-hour walking tour we booked. The entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. The booking process was smooth, communication with the tour provider was excellent, and everything was well-organized. Our tour guide, Nadia, was absolutely exceptional. She was professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout. What really stood out was how she tailored the tour to exactly what we were interested in, making the experience feel personal and engaging. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the tour, and it added so much value to our trip. Luca was amazing! He showed me really cool ancient Roman sites that other tours don't visit! He also took me to a very beautiful island with an old church and taught me some local WW2 history. We discussed how these histories play into modern Italy. I had a fantastic time and we even stopped for a 5 minute coffee break! Luca gave me some great advice on local restaurants and invited me to live music! Overall very friendly and conversational. I wasn't feeling well so we walked slow and made frequent stops. It felt like I was walking around Rome with a friend.

This private evening tour of Rome was well worth it. Everything was easy from the start, and the whole experience felt smooth and stress-free. Walking through Rome at night was the highlight. The Christmas lights and nearby market gave the city a special feel, and stopping for dinner, pastries, and hot chocolate made the evening even better. It never felt rushed and was a great way to take in the city. Luca, our guide, was excellent. He knew the history inside and out and explained things in a way that was interesting and easy to follow. You could tell he really enjoys sharing Rome and its history. Rome has been on my bucket list for a long time. We went in not knowing exactly what to expect and came away very happy with the experience. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed, personal way to experience the city.

I was paired with Ludovica who gave me a once in a lifetime experience. I had a 10 hour layover in Rome and wanted to explore the city through a cultural lens of a local native. Had the most exceptional tour with Nadia, of City Unscripted. I've grown to love this tour company. It's like hiring 'a-professional-best-friend' for a day. And oh man, I got so lucky! This was our first ever tour of Rome. We wanted to get the first taste of the beautiful city by taking an individual tour for just the two of us. Luca understood our goal perfectly and took us on a 2 hour’s guided walk. Not only we were able to see some of the major sights like Navona, Trevi, the Pantheon and Spanish square but also feel of the vibe of the city. Luca sprinkled it with some anecdotes and urban legends, which was really fun. We had a nice feeling that the tour was created just for us. We learned a lot but it wasn’t overwhelming. In addition I would like to thank Luca and Shiva for figuring out the logistics of getting to the meeting point for us. We did not know how to navigate the public transportation yet since it was our first day in Italy. There was also a rally in the area and many streets were blocked. Luca was on top of it and led us to the bus stop and the meeting point on WhatsApp. Good job, Luca and Shiva! Highly recommend.

We did a tour of several major sights in Rome with our guide Luca. He was tremendous, very knowledgeable and friendly. He led us on a leisurely tour throughout the city for about three hours including a stop for gelato. We ended the tour by having wine and cheeses in a cute trattoria. It was perfect introduction to the city! I highly recommend Luca. So great!!

There were a host of important and interesting sites that you don’t get from a guide book that we were lucky enough to experience. And books are not so good with answering questions. 😀 Indira, our guide, provided a very customized tour. Before we left the US we discussed what was of interest to us and then throughout the tour she continued to offer alternatives based on our interests. She was very knowledgeable about the history of Rome and the sites we were seeing. I feel like we really saw some of Rome’s hidden gems thanks to her. Highly recommend the tour!

We had an incredible half-day private tour of Rome with Alessandra through City Unscripted. Our hotel was in the Jewish Ghetto, and Alessandra met us there, letting us explore that historic neighborhood before heading to Trastevere for a typical Roman street food lunch — a real treat for foodies! From there, we visited Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona, Saint Ignazio Church (be sure to bring something to cover your knees and shoulders), the Pantheon (outside), Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and more. Alessandra’s knowledge and insights brought each location to life, and she was incredibly flexible — even suggesting a delightful uphill walk after lunch to take in panoramic views of the city. It was another highlight of the day and absolutely worth the effort, even in the summer heat. She went above and beyond by giving us dinner recommendations for that evening and breakfast spots for our last morning, which made our trip even more memorable. Spending the day with Alessandra felt like exploring Rome with a close family friend, joyfully sharing her love and deep knowledge of this beautiful city. Alex was an excellent guide who shared his deep knowledge of the city’s history and hidden gems. He took us to many of the main sites and introduced us to lesser-known places. He also recommended other neighborhoods to explore on our own and provided a list of authentic restaurants that were less touristy.

Bea was a fantastic guide. She was warm and engaging. She's bright and very knowledgeable. She has an artist's soul so it was easy to connect while she shared some of her favorite places in Rome. She was also very flexible regarding the itinerary. It was an exceptionally hot day so the plan we initially laid out had to be adjusted. She pivoted like a pro, without complaint. Ask for Bea if you want an intelligent (she knows German and Chinese!) guide who radiates warmth and personality.

Alex was great and his depth of knowledge was a real benefit to our tour as he has able to explain the significance of each of the sites we visited. Olga went above and beyond on our wine tasting tour!!!!! We had full glasses of wine with appetizers and most importantly a loving conversation. The orange wine she wanted us to taste was unavoidable so she later found us a bottle and left with the concierge at our hotel. We were blessed to have her as our guide!!!
