We booked the Hop on hop off bus in Rome. Got emailed our tickets, there was no mention of which bus line we were using, it was only when downloading the pdf ticket that it said Greenline Bus. When going to the Greenline bus stop and showing them the ticket in the Viator app they said it was the wrong ticket and needed one with a QR code not the bar code that was on the ticket. They suggested I contact Viator to ask them for the correct ticket. Of course, I could not find a contact number, the email I had was a no-reply email, I emailed anyway but it bounced back. We ended up having to buy more tickets there and then costing us another $90. Please make sure before booking the hop on hop off from Viator that you know what service its for and what they require as a ticket. Not happy at the fact that there was no easy way to contact viator when we needed too. I would suggest for a hop on bus, dont use Viator rather just buy the ticket on site on the day.

Ripped my wife and I off. Never received a QR code so we could get on the bus. BEWARE! Bar code doesnt work only QR code
The circular route gave us a good idea of where we would go the next day. Stops for exchange of passengers were far too long. commentary was quite poor. We did not have the QR code only a bar code on our print out. Luckily the office was very close by and we were able to get one. We did not get off at any stops as the queues to get back on were too long.
Awful!!!will not allow us to board bus says Viator QR codes not readable. Tried to access Viator no answer!!!!
One of the stops, Coliseum, was cancelled and I did not received that information in advanced
This is the worst Hop on Hop off bus ever!! It wasn't even the one in the picture when I booked!! Very disappointed with Tripadvisor and Viator. No tour guide speaking about different areas and/or history. Then we where waiting for the other line in the place we got off for the green line as we were told, but not the right place, and though it was around 3 we were told it was the last loop for that line even though we were told the buses went till 7:30pm (19:30).
If you just want to get information about attractions then this is a good way to this. But the bus stops are not close to tourists attractions so you have to walk a long way. You are better off getting the public bus that stops much closer.
Be very clear and make sure you have the ticket with the QR code in hand or you will not be getting on any bus
I take hop on Hop off buses every where I travel. From Pittsburgh Pa to Singapore. They have usually been very good. This one was not. They didn't recognize my ticket and made us hold up the line and then miss the first stop . There were only 8:stops on this line. They made us get off at the last stop , they said we could get another line from there. But the other one stopped running at 3 pm even though it said it ran until 7 pm. When we wanted to get off at the 2 nd stop where we began, we had to yell at the driver to open the door. Stay away from Green Line Tours
The bus comes every 30 minutes or so but it is usually full and hard to get on. Most people stay on for all of the stops. We took it just twice from a couple stops and then walked everywhere. Really bad to be waiting for it only to find it full. Suggestion: walk instead.
Handy way to have an overview of the sights and to help decide your specific sightseeing plans. Using the bus saves steps before & after your sightseeing agenda. Be prepared to be sitting in traffic on occasion & we travelled in February. My headset was troublesome as one earpiece was English and the other another language.
Hi guys, I need some help please. I made a booking for th Hop on Hop of bus in Rome for 22 April 2026. Confirmation no *****96267 and booking no ******0783 and unfortunately I received an email today to say my booking was cancelled due to bad weather. I'm finding it hard to understand how it could be cancelled due to bad weather when this is only February so how can they tell the weather is going to be bad in April. My next problem is that my credit card was stolen so I cannot get a refund on that card. So how can I sort this.
It was difficult to find this particular tour companies signage and schedule. The tickets were digital but the ticket taker said she could not scan the tickets and was rather rude when she had to provide us with a paper option that we had to hang onto the entire day.
The description of the tour was not what the picture depicted. The photos shown to us was extremely beautiful lit up buildings but what we saw during the tour were the same thing we saw on the hop on hop off tour purchased. After the tour was over, the lady who sold the tickets sent the beautiful photos of the sites we saw on her phone when she encouraged us to buy the tour. Feel scammed.
It was a great experience and I enjoiy it a lot. I would like to do it again when I come back to Italy.
Very difficult to find the meet up location online. Couldn't find the location at the terminal. They should at least have a map online.
i booked the tickets via the link and we had trouble getting on the Green line tours in Rome as they said the tickets have not been confirmed We were advised it was an admin error via Viator and a few other people had the same issue
Very limited on information. The audio was not the same as the site. Bus broke down a mess. Unorganized
Excellent. Francesco was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He went out of his way to explain things
Get your voucher before you leave. Paid for internet by att and could not open details. Therefore they didn’t know what bus we were on. Even though we had booking and reservation numbers. So didn’t get to go. Very disappointing. They really tried from big red bus to help us to no avail so we paid for nothing
The bus should have stops at all the major attractions, not in the general area of three or four attractions. For a person with difficulty walking long distances, this was a great inconvenience. Having just been on HOHO busses in London and Paris, which stops at ALL major attractions, Rome HOHO was a great disapointment.
Sometime the audio didn’t match where we were but overall it was relaxing and fun. And here are more words to meet my 100 character limit.
We bought a 48 hour ticket and it expired within 24 hours so they would not let us on tour. The tixket office was shut as weekend. And ticket ls said expired. Tour bus operator could not help. Viator was not helpful to our plight and refused refund. I strongly say avoid Greenline Hop on Hop off buses. Arrogant and poor customer service.
The green busses didn’t have a roof which would have been appreciated given the incredibly hot temperatures. The boarding procedures were cumbersome and lengthy with the hosts having to hand write receipts which caused needless lineups.
Not very fun! It was a very hot day and the Bus did not have a sun shield and the indoor first level was not air conditioned. The stops were very long and the seats uncomfortable. My daughter nearly passed out from the heat! The most positive was the audio.
Great way to see the outskirts of Rome. It was nice to ride on top of the bus when the weather was permissible. In the lower area, it was very hot! Good way to get around without all the walking.
Fantastic way to get around Rome and see everything. You can hop on and off all day. Information on the tour is very knowledgeable and interesting.... Coliseum and Trivi Fountain are a must see
We took the Green Line tours hop on hop off ticket for 48 hours (which is about 10-12 Euros more for two tickets and worth it). The first time we got on and stayed on for the entire circuit. The next day we used the GLT bus to get from the Vatican to our hotel in Rome. A scenic and easy way to get back. I would recommend it if you have time on your hands.
Poor quality audio equipment spoils the experience. Tour unfortunately cannot get close enough to several iconic items.
All the sightseeing of Rome by a bus tour. Very highly recomend. The audio tour was very informative and everybody was very welcoming and helpful.
Perfect Trip for First time in Rome. We Chose this bis because of good Rating and were not disapointed
Very disappointed, the hours of service were limited, we used the bus twice over two days because it stopping running early both days. Staff on bus useless, gave out a brochure to contact operator, said it was off season hours. Waste of $180 USD for two couples, stay away.
We ended up walking and taxiing between attractions on the second day hop on hop off was too time consuming.
We got the two day pass and ended up using it only for one day - definitely a good option for when it’s raining.
When I got on the bus and showed my ticket, bought online through Trip Advisor, the guide said it was not the right ticket. I said where I had bought it and that it was for this bus tour. She messaged her office and while waiting for answer she said I could stay on bus till next stop but would have to get off if it wasn't correct ticket. Eventually she said there were two different tickets and mine was ok!! Not the best welcome to Rome!!
This has the potential to be a good tour to see a lot of the highlights of Rome, however, the bus was too crowded. You didn't feel like you could get off and explore at one of the stops because there probably wouldn't be a seat for you on the next bus. Plus, it was a little difficult to find an actual stop to get the ticket activated.
Missed my appointed time because the various buses could not recognise the ticket. In the end even the bus it belonged to had to take picture, send it somewhere else and then re-issue a ticket so we would not have the same issue. By the time all was sorted we missed our next tour @ the Colloseum. Waste of money
Good experience. Thanks. Rome is bigger than expected. The green line was helpful. Thanks all the staff we had touch in at your bus tour
Long walks from our room to any pick up point. Hard to see much from interior sear. Map provided was the best thing…
Rome is a beautiful city, and I do recommend hop on hop off bus to see it all. However, the greenline bus is not the route to go. When booking this, I thought we were getting the red hop on hop off bus there is more of them they come more frequently. We spent a lot of time like 45 minutes to an hour waiting at each stop for another bus to come. That is a lot of sightseeing. We missed due to waiting on the buses do not recommend the green line tour bus! The people on the buses were also very rude.
Unfortunately it was not easy to identify which hop on hop off service I purchased tickets for online. Had to purchase a second set of tickets as none of the operators would admit to my tickets purchased online as being valid.
Sev was a great tour guide, It was very apparent early on that he was no average tour guide. It was clear that he was very knowledgeable about the city, its history, and that lead to him being very interesting. You could tell he was passionate about the history. We learned at the very end of the day he is a professor at the University. I’ve traveled the world and Sev was one of the best guides,
We got to see all the things we missed on our guided tours. It was fun and relaxing. all of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
We got on the bus in the morning without a problem. The audio guide was interesting. But as the ride wore on, there were long lines of people trying to get on, and we ended up waiting for a long time before going to the next stop. A lot of people in line didn’t get to get on because there wasn’t room. It’s a decent way to kill time after a long flight, but if you hop off you may not get to hop back on again.
The lady who received our tickets was very rude, the bus ride was fine but to redeem the tickets was terrible. I would not buy this tickets again because the green hop on hop off bus attitude was deplorable.
It’s the middle of summer and the buses have NO ac and it was sweltering hot. Literally hotter on the bus than it was outside. The bus would stay for a long time at some of the stops to allow peddlers to sell fans and bottles of water which meant sitting in the sweltering heat even longer and took longer to go from stop to stop. Some of the ports for the headphones were not working on the bus
Situated near the train station. Very easy to find. They answer all of your questions and bus is clean
Enjoyed my tour with Viator. Audio tour guide was helpful. The staff are friendly. Love to do this again when I am.back in Rome🙂
The explanation in English was very good. It was very hot and humid in the bus as very crowded. No air-conditioning. The staff were very helpful. The sights are amazing!
We were going on a cruise on Friday so came in early to see Rome. It was a great way to see the highlights and spend more time in some places and found a wonder place for lunch just off the bus.
