My sister and I had the absolute pleasure of spending three unforgettable days riding with Alessia. As advanced riders looking for a private and authentic experience, we couldn’t have asked for anything more special. Two of the days were spent at her ranch, with the final day at her father’s ranch in Abruzzo, each experience more incredible than the last. Alessia truly went above and beyond to make our trip exceptional. Her passion, knowledge, and genuine care for both her horses and her guests shine through in everything she does. The horses are beautifully cared for, the riding is amazing, the scenery and views, and her warm hospitality and beautiful energy made the entire experience feel so personal and memorable. We’ve only just arrived home and it’s still sinking in how incredible this experience was. A heartfelt thank you to Alessia for creating memories we will cherish forever. We honestly cannot wait to return and would highly, HIGHLY recommend this experience to anyone looking for something truly special. THANK YOU! Tess & Alex

Horses taken well care of, really nice welcoming staff Beautiful lush landscape Warm atmosphere Sweet horses
This was such a great experience ! I loved how we were able to feed , brush , care for and bond with the horses before we even rode them. This to me showed the respect the team had for the horses. The horses were healthy and well taken care of. Our tour guide Alessia was very personable , knowledgeable, kind and outgoing. We loved her personality and genuine care overall. Thank you to the team as well!
I did the horse ride with picnic. It was a full day- almost 7 hours and it was awesome! The people made it the best experience. It was like hanging out with my new Italian local friends for the day. Super relaxing and they made me feel so welcome. A great change to the sightseeing in the city and I’d do it again for sure!
I've been on top of a horse 3 or 4 times in my life. My wife has been riding horses for 20-odd years. We both had an absolute blast riding with Alessia. Every other time I've ridden, it was clear that the horse was going to do what its trainers had taught it to do regardless of what I did. But not this time. Alessia taught us the basics really well, and I could tell that I had real influence over what my horse was doing. It was a pleasant surprise and a lot of fun. As you can probably imagine, my wife also really loved being able to control her horse. But while I was taking it pretty slow, my wife and her horse were allowed to go off and gallop across the Italian countryside for the last few minutes of the ride. To put it in perspective, after 10 days in Rome, Naples and Sorrento, I asked my wife what her favorite part of our trip was, and this was her answer. PS, the lunch afterwards was fantastic. Get the carbonara and weep over the feeble imitation served at American restaurants. And the honeyed ricotta? So good.
Me and my son had a great time here. They gave us a quick lesson and treated us like family. Very kids friendly.
I embarked on the “Picnic on Horseback in Rome” tour with high expectations, lured by the promise of stunning nature and delectable Roman cuisine. The tour began wonderfully, with our guide Alessia providing a five-star experience. Her knowledge, passion, and kindness created an atmosphere that was both educational and enjoyable as we traversed the breathtaking landscapes of the Riserva Naturale Statale del Litorale Romano. The horseback riding experience was superb, catering to all skill levels, and made for a delightful escape from the city’s hustle. Alessia was the perfect host, ensuring everyone was comfortable, safe, and engaged. However, the experience took a confusing turn when, contrary to the description, there was no picnic. Instead, Alessia’s husband led us to a local restaurant and left without explanation. The restaurant staff, seemingly more focused on the local police eating there simultaneously, left us feeling unwelcome and uncertain of the itinerary. The absence of clear communication was concerning, especially when it became evident that we were stranded without a pre-arranged return to the train station. The resulting inconvenience of arranging and paying 60 euro for our own Uber back to Rome, especially in inclement weather and at an additional significant expense, was not only unexpected but also quite distressing. While the day started as one of the best tours, with Alessia’s outstanding guidance, it ended on a sour note. I would advise future participants to seek clarity on the day’s full itinerary, particularly regarding transportation arrangements after the horseback riding portion. Despite the enchanting ride, the oversight in planning and hospitality needs addressing to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience from start to finish.
What a fun and fantastic adventure! The staff was friendly and fun! The horses were mellow and friendly! And the sweet barb cats were just an added plus! Pedro’s English was excellent and his pictures were great! I would highly recommend this adventure!
Let's start with the good parts. The ranch experience was lovely, we got to feed and brush the horses. It was nice to be up and close to bond with them before the ride. Prepare to get dirty, no clean shoes or hands 🤣 lovely cats also on thr ranch, very friendly. We were beginners, so went for a ride around the forest, it was beautiful. We travelled by public transport (which is easy, so don't be put off) to the meeting point. We got there for 9.45am, to meet for 10am. We didn't have signal to contact why no one was turning up, luckily there was another 3 people that were also joining us that managed to call, we eventually got picked up and taken to the ranch at 11.10am (over an hour late to collect and tried to say they were there at 10am but couldn't see anyone) We had evening plans so missed out on the lunch that was included as we had to go for our train (this was at 2.30pm and missed out due to the late start) The horses were lovely to meet and I would recommend an experience like this. Just the organisation of the travel puts me of slightly. Thank you for letting us meet the horses and ride!
Highly recommend. Such an unique experience. I was welcomed with open arms by such lovely people and such lovely animals. The scenery was beyond beautiful. Highly recommended for people who are confident navigating Romes public transportation or confident in figuring it out
We had a WONDERFUL time on our horseback riding trip! Alessa was great! She walked alongside my 7 year old who rode. We loved getting to spend time feeding and grooming the horses. The whole group and instructors were very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a memorable adventure!
My husband and I booked our trip through Viator, our host picked us up with the other guests on time and escorted us from the train station to the stables. She was incredibly fun to work with and gave solid direction on the steps we would be taking to get the horses ready to ride. Once we were all ready she helped those that needed it onto their horses and off we went! The ride was beautiful and the weather was perfect, our guide showed us some great historical spots and had expert knowledge on the history of the region. 100% would do this again!
We had an amazing time with this experience! It was a nice laid back environment and the horses were great - even for a beginner like me. The area is beautiful and it was nice to get out of the city for the day. The delicious lunch was another great inclusion. We would definitely recommend it to others!
Alessia deserves way more than 5 stars! She was so gracious and kind when we were running behind getting there. We arrived to a wonderful free breakfast and coffee. We got to spend some quality time with the horses before the ride, which was so sweet. She was even patient with me when I misunderstood her and got on her horse instead of mine, she is a saint! She is very knowledgeable about the history and has great energy. Our time with her was such a gift. We were treated to an awesome Roman lunch after the ride too. Would highly recommend to anyone!!
Great experience but poorly planned waited over an hour for guide to show had to phone to see what was going on
The picnic trail ride was great!! My friend and I chose to go horseback riding for my birthday and we both had such a great time! Our trail guide, Alessia, was great! She was so nice and sweet to us! I would definitely recommend here for anyone who wants to enjoy a nice trail horse ride. I will definitely go again on my next trip to Italy!
Alessia was very nice and gave an informative tour of the town before going to the stable. The town is very pretty and interesting. Unfortunately she didn’t have her car and spent a lot of time trying to transport us to and from train station. She was late picking us up from train station. Our group had to be split up and she had no assistance in doing tour of town or in getting horses ready for ride. I really appreciated that she rescued all of her horses and she knows them well and takes good care of them. The ride was nice and informative but people in the back couldn’t hear much. After the ride( which included grooming) we were left in a bar at the park for 1 drink and a few nuts each. We were there a long time waiting for Alessia to return. Finally she returned to take us back to town, I think she was trying to get people to drive us. Our ride was supposed to have a picnic lunch, another person said his included breakfast. Alessia didn’t realize this until we were leaving. When we were in town she left 3 of us at a cafe and told us to order lunch after speaking to the waiter, and she left with the 2 other people in our group to give them the town tour. The waiter gave us 4 options and we ordered. When Alessia returned after we ordered she said she only pays for 1 option-the waiter never told us that. We unfortunately hadn’t ordered that and ended up paying for our own lunch. I did enjoy the ride but the whole experience was very disorganized. I think mostly because she didn’t have her car and was scrounging for drivers. She should have an assistant to help her. She should also be aware of what is included in booking. I would have preferred more time in town rather then sitting at the bar at the park. Also for the price we shouldn't have had to pay for our lunch.
My wife and I have a had the most fantastic day together. We first got to meet the horses and bond with the one you ride by grooming and saddling up. This trip is for all riding levels as I have zero experience on horses while my wife show jumps. We all went out together and Alessia took the time to teach me how to ride and even up to trot by the end of the day. The trip is full of historical significance and very informative. The views and nature park is beautiful right through to the beach. We stopped in the woods for a lovely Italian lunch and a beer, then coffee. Great conversations had by all and love the fact that the owner of this great tour is passionate about the horses and where she lives and works. We then headed out on a hack across the main road through another estate ending up by the beach. On the way back my wife went off with the other guide where she got to gallop through out this lovely area for miles. I gained a lot of confidence in that short space of time on this lovely horse This has made my wife’s surprise wedding anniversary present a great memory to share and treasure for life. We were having so much fun with the owner that we went over the time allocated. She then took us to the ancient town to show us the castle and original court yard and church and explaining the historical importance of it all. She also arranged for our taxi here to take us back to rome. So overall, I would highly recommend this tour to any level of horse experience who wants to sample the ancient ruins within this Natural park outside of the busy Roman city area. What day to remember, thank you Alessia xx
This was a truly wonderful experience! Despite having to wait for a while after the scheduled time, the experience was amazing! Our host, Alessia, was energetic and one of the friendliest people I've ever met. She took good care of me and my girlfriend as we learned what to do with the horses. We learned a lot about both the history of Ostia as well as horseback riding. I would recommend this to anyone who might be interested!
My girlfriend and I had the most memorable experience with Alessia and the horses. We fed, brushed, and learned all the basics of riding. The horses were perfect and Alessia was the greatest teacher/guide we could have asked for! The ride itself was as beautiful as you could imagine in the Italian countryside, through beautiful canopied woods, over the ruins, and into wildflower fields. It was so beautiful, in fact, that it made for the perfect place for my girlfriend to become my fiancée!! Alessia helped plan that all along, too! This is a MUST DO experience.
Although we had to wait, we did enjoy the riding and I can easily say that this was the best commercial horse riding hikes I’ve ever had. My horse was absolutely amazing and I have nothing bad to say about him. Alessia is super friendly and made me feel very happy with her energy. I was scared that as an advanced rider it will be bit boring and slow, but it was nothing alike I was experienced before. So totally reccomend to all riders, you’ll get the emotion.
What a Great experience! Alessia walked me through the basics and at the end I felt extremely comfortable on the horse. :) Would recommend.
A beautiful experience, lasting more than 3 hours immersed in the splendid pine forest of Castel Porziano.. it is not a simple ride, but a true experience of love with these splendid animals. Alessia is an instructor who is particularly careful not to overlook anything... she also makes the ride a riding lesson... She even took us for a snack for lunch immersed in the greenery, only to set off again on the way back to the stables... I highly recommend it to everyone... it is all wonderful.... Alessia is super!!
Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Erfahrung! Liebevolle und professionelle Hosts, wir haben ein Frühstück bekommen, Mittagessen und wurden zurück zur haltestelle gefahren. Danke alessia :)
Fantastic experience, with knowledgeable and welcoming staff. We enjoyed a smartbox experience, and we were able to benefit from a unique opportunity. Even for the inexperienced.
It was amazing!! She tells a lot about the culture and politics of the country while you make a beautiful tour on horseback. She is genuinely interested, likes to talk, a lot and easy. She's connected to the horses. She maintains them well and gives them all the love there is. The horses are sweet and affectionate. The horses but also you experience the most top time ever!!!
We had a lot of fun, spending over 3 hours in contact with the horses (really docile) in the pine forest of Castelfusano. We booked through coupons on Smartbox and upon our arrival, we were greeted by Alessia, a very good guide and instructor, who immediately put us at ease. We have established in a very short time a relationship with horses, especially thanks to her suggestions, as Alessia has the gift of explaining in a few words, what it takes to inexperienced people like us, to take a horse ride. The experience was definitely positive!
As a Smartbox customer I found myself very comfortable. A wonderful day on horseback surrounded by nature. The instructor knows how to put you at ease, even if you are a beginner. It's an informal walk, in wonderful locations, it takes its time to fully enjoy it. In our case, a meal and a break along the way were included. I recommend to all lovers of sport and nature to take a clean break from the daily routine.
After so much searching I finally found the perfect riding school for me. The approach is highly professional and the philosophy of the place are respect for the horse, the customer and the surrounding environment. The woods in which we immersed ourselves fascinating and the sea in powerful winter. What struck me most is the sensitivity with which Alessia, the manager, was able to get in touch not only with the horse but also with the people with whom I found myself walking time after time. It's a regenerating experience and I recommend it to everyone!
