Our Vespa Sidecar Tour was the highlight of our time in Rome! We scheduled the nighttime tour with a gourmet pizza tasting as our first activity shortly after landing in Rome. Although we had already planned a full 3 days of sightseeing in Rome, by scheduling the Vespa Sidecar tour during our first evening in Rome, we were able to immediately get the lay of the city and taste great gourmet pizza! Barbara was our tour guide and she (and our capable drivers) did a fantastic job of taking us to many of the attractions of Rome and giving us a lot of the highlights that make Rome so special. Barbara's overview of Rome was a bit history, a bit cultural, a bit architectural and a lot of very interesting information! Driving around in a Vespa sidecar around Rome in the evening was just so much fun that my wife and I couldn't stop laughing! Having Barbra giving us a "running narrative" of Rome and Roman history as we zipped through Rome made the trip so much more exciting than we had ever imagined! By the way, the restaurant that Barbara selected for the gourmet pizza tasting was wonderful and was actually icing on the cake! We recommend the Vespa Sidecar Tour with Gourmet Pizza Tasting highly! Our tour was several weeks ago and yet we are still taking about what we saw and the fun we had with Barbara!

Itinerary
Designed during the urban redevelopment undertaken after Rome was declared capital of Italy, the Piazza della Repubblica is one of the most important squares of the city, and extremely striking. The Piazza della Repubblica is made up of a large roundabout with an exquisite fountain, Fontana delle Naiadi, surrounded by imposing buildings on one side and a seemingly demolished temple on the other.
The Quirinal Palace (known in Italian as the Palazzo del Quirinale or simply Quirinale) is a historic building in Rome, Italy, one of the three current official residences of the President of the Italian Republic, together with Villa Rosebery in Naples and Tenuta di Castelporziano in Rome. It is located on the Quirinal Hill, the highest of the seven hills of Rome in an area colloquially called Monte Cavallo. It has housed thirty Popes, four Kings of Italy and twelve presidents of the Italian Republic.
Inaugurated in 1911 to pay respect to Victor Emmanuel II, the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II (Altare della Patria) is an imposing building located in Piazza Venezia. It provides some breath-taking views of Rome. The Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele was inaugurated in 1911 as a tribute to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of Italy after the country's unification. Inside the building is the Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento and the Central Museum of the Risorgimento. Since 1921, the Victor Emmanuel Monument holds the tomb of the unknown soldier, a place in which the eternal flame shines and which is always guarded by two soldiers.
The Pantheon of Agrippa, also known as the Roman Pantheon, is one of the architectural masterpieces of the Italian capital. It is the best preserved building from ancient Rome. Completed in 126AD, was a Roman temple with a surprising oculus that is the building's main source of natural light.
Trevi Fountain is the most beautiful fountain in Rome. Measuring some 20 meters in width by 26 meters in height, Trevi Fountain is also the largest fountain in the city. The origins of the fountain go back to the year 19 B.C., in which period the fountain formed the end of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct. The first fountain was built during the Renaissance, under the direction of Pope Nicholas V. The final appearance of the Trevi Fountain dates from 1762, when after many years of works at the hand of Nicola Salvi, it was finalized by Giuseppe Pannini. Interestingly enough, the name of Trevi derives from Tre Vie (three ways), since the fountain was the meeting point of three streets.
The Spanish Steps (Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti in Italian) were built at the beginning of the eighteenth century connecting Piazza di Spagna and the Church of Trinità dei Monti. It is one of the most famous parts of Rome. The staircase is a favourite spot among tourists to sit, relax and enjoy the views of Piazza di Spagna
The Piazza del Popolo (meaning The People’s Square) is located inside the northern gate of the city, which was once called Porta Flaminia. The square is situated at the beginning of Via Flaminia and was the main entrance to the city during the Roman Empire. Once on the main route to the north, Piazza del Popolo is still strategically located. Three important streets part from the square: to the left, Via del Babuino; to the right, Via di Ripetta and to the centre the Via del Corso, one of the main high streets of Rome.
St Peter’s Square or Piazza San Pietro is probably one of the world’s most famous squares and one of the most breath-taking. It is located in Vatican City, at the feet of St. Peter's Basilica. Designed by Bernini during the seventeenth century, it houses over 300,000 people.
Janiculum Hill, considered by many as the eighth hill of Rome, is a peaceful and refreshing attraction close to the city center. It's situated just outside the ancient city and is a great place to visit to get away from the bustle of Rome. Not to mention that the panorama from the top of the hill is breath-taking. As you walk up its pathways, you'll enjoy superb views of the city. Janiculum became very popular due to the important historical role that it played in the defence of the city. Becoming the setting for the battle in which Garibaldi repelled an attack from French troops, its paths are full of sculptures of the heroes, including Giuseppe Garibaldi.
Soak up the neighbourhood’s bohemian atmosphere and its numerous landmarks. You'll enjoy a drive through the authentic soul of Rome's alleys and typical trattorias, passing by the picturesque Jewish Ghetto.
The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore is an ancient Catholic basilica that is considered to be the largest of the churches dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Rome. It is one of the city’s four major basilicas.

OMG this was the best experience in Italy by far. 3 hours of absolute fun. The team where amazing taking us on a journey through the beautiful City of Roma. Showing us the best vantage points in this beautiful city. Friends fun and Vespa sidecars and of course the best pizza ever. Please make sure you do this tour. Its worth it, you will not be disappointed.!
The only way to see Rome at night! Great fun to ride through the narrow streets to see all of the famous sites while listening to live commentary. The pizza restaurant chosen was fabulous.
This experience from start to finish was great and we couldn’t fault it. Highly recommended to see the sights and sounds of Rome by night, zipping around on a Vespa. Claudio was a great guide and we felt very safe with the drivers; especially el capitán! The restaurant we stopped off for pizza tasting and wine was lovely and we had a choice of three pizza toppings to try.
This Vespa tour was, without a doubt, the best night of our entire trip to Italy. It was unlike anything I’ve ever done before, and an experience I will never forget. We went with a small group, and from the very beginning, it was so clear how deeply our guide, Barbara, and our drivers cared about giving us an incredible experience. Barbara described Rome and its wonders so beautifully and poetically. It was obvious how much she genuinely loves the city, and she made us fall in love with it. The entire evening felt so personal and special. We never felt rushed, the drivers were extremely safe, and everyone went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and having a wonderful time. The pizza stop was fantastic, and they were accommodating of me being vegetarian. I cannot recommend this experience enough. It was the highlight of our trip, and definitely more than just another tour. We will never forget it!
We had an absolutely fantastic time on our Vespa sidecar tour around Rome with the family. It was so much fun and a great way to experience the city from a completely different perspective. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and informative, sharing lots of interesting facts and stories along the way. We were amazed at how much of Rome we were able to see in such a short amount of time, without it ever feeling rushed. The Vespa sidecars were a real highlight and made the whole experience even more memorable. We laughed, explored, learnt a lot and created some great family memories.
Wonderful to our guide and wonderful drivers we had a great experience!
Literally one of the best things we've ever done! This tour of Rome is absolutely outstanding. From pick up to eating pizza to photos at the Colosseum - everything was absolutely brilliant. The food went beyond expectation - we thought it'd just be a slice of pizza from a takeaway....little did we know it was a beautiful restaurant, amazing gourmet pizza and delicious wine too! Such a bonus! Barbara - our guide - was wonderful, friendly and very knowledgeable and a trip to the Trevi Fountain plus wishing coins were also part of the tour - so unexpected, and such a nice touch. If you're thinking about doing this tour - think no more and just BOOK IT!! You won't have a better or more fun experience during your stay!
Amazing Experience! It was top-notch, and there’s no possible way to see that much of Rome in such a short amount of time unless you are guided. Highly recommend. Lots of fun cruising Vespas through Rome. And the pizza stop was excellent. Lots of wonderful vistas to take photos as well.
This was absolutely our favorite tour in Rome. Monica was a fabulous guide. The pizza tasting was phenomenal. My 2 children had a blast. We would totally recommend this tour.
This was the highlight of our visit to Rome! It was the perfect way to experience the flavor of the city via many small neighborhoods and see the notable sites while illuminated at night. We felt like rock stars as people smiled, waved, and photographed us. Claudio our guide and his drivers were professional, safe, friendly, and so much fun to spend the evening with.
Best Rome Experience! Our guide Claudio and the drivers make a memorable tour for our family. The pizza tasting was superb too. But being able to enjoy Rome at night is a magical experience and with these team it is a five star ⭐️
Fun and fast-paced. Staff were super-friendly and our guide, Monica, was awesome and a real hoot, very knowledgeable about the historical buildings, churches, monuments, etc. You will ride on Rome's broad avenues and its narrow, curving streets and alleys on cobblestone, getting into places that feel secret and intimate as well as those that are crowded and famous. Pizza tasting was wonderful, restaurant was beautiful. This was a wonderful introduction to Rome. Highly recommend.
Our guide Barbara and our two Vespa drivers went above and beyond to create a memorable evening experience in Rome. Despite traffic, demonstrations, and road blocks, they safely navigated us to all the sites on our itinerary. The pizza restaurant exceeded our expectations for the food, service, and ambience. The tour was a highlight of our vacation.
The three-hour Vespa tour was absolutely amazing and one of the best experiences of our trip! It was not only so much fun, but also incredibly educational. We got to see so many beautiful places and learn so much along the way. Monica was an amazing tour guide friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience unforgettable. She made everyone feel comfortable and kept the tour exciting the entire time. Riding through the city on a Vespa was such a unique experience, and we enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting definitely a must-do!
Great experience. Claudio did a wonderful job explaining the history and locations within Rome. We were able to see the entirety of Rome in a four hour window. We had plenty of time to stop and take pictures as well as eat pizza. 5 ⭐️
BY FAR this is the most exhilarating and interesting tour you can do while in Rome! Seeing the city and all the magnificent Roman sites and ruins lit up at night while riding in an iconic Vespa is magical. Our guide was smart, engaging and super informative and our driver was patient and very safety conscious. Our gourmet pizza was absolutely scrumptious. The delighted smiles and waves we received as we passed through narrow streets too small for cars are still imbedded in my memory. A stop at the Trevi Fountain with an unexpected "skip-the-line" ticket while a special projection light show played across the façade was a real treat. If you're on the fence about this tour don't hesitate. Do it!!! You won't regret it.
So much fun. Great way to see Rome. Team was great. Guide was great. Pizza was fun and tasty. I definitely recommend this trip.
An iconic and unique way to see the city of Rome. Touring around the main sights with interesting information en route.
Monica was a phenomenal guide and our drivers were fantastic. We saw many areas of the city and the ride was even more comfortable than we'd imagined. We were glad we chose night for our tour time - the sights were beautifully lit and we never could've seen so much at night on foot. The included pizza dinner was also delicious. Plus, the stop at Trevi fountain was something really special. This Vespa tour was the highlight of our time in Rome.
If you haven't been to Rome yet, this is a MUST! We had Monika as our guide, talking to us through wireless radios while we zoomed around Rome, hitting all the top spots. Our drivers, Luigi, Lorenzo, and Sam, were super nice and polite. The pizza at Vico was amazing. We also made a stop at Fatamorgana Gelato for some of the best gelato we've ever tasted. Seriously, don't hesitate - just book this and enjoy a fantastic evening with these folks.
Absolutely amazing time!!! The sights, the sounds, the ride, the history! Best way to tour Rome with excellence! Alessio was the best historian; he was so kind and took great care of our group! Everything we needed was available- the warm blankets and heating pads; assistance with helmets, and so much attention from the crowd! Felt like we were celebrities! Would do this again- BOOK THE TOUR; it EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATION! Beautiful ROME! Thank you Sam for taking great care of us with a SMILE! AND- we even got GELATO! Yummy! There as a you d lady in our group celebrating a birthday and we acknowledged her at the Gelato shop with a candle on singing! Love this PLACE!
From our reservations to the actual tour itself, this entire experience was a dream. We're from the States, and decided to book this tour on our first night in Rome right after we landed. (We're so glad we did, because it was a great way to see the city while jet-lagged) When booking through their website, they were so accommodating and helpful via email. Our hotel was really close to the last site, so I asked if it was possible to get dropped off at our hotel instead of the meeting point. They didn't even hesitate to say yes. When we showed up for the tour, we realized we were the ONLY ones on the tour! So it turned out to be an unexpected private tour for two. I was so grateful that instead of cancelling on us, they had the most wonderful driver/guide, Matteo, take us around. We were starved from the flight, so Matteo took us first to THE best pizza we've ever had (and I lived in NYC & LA for the last 20 years). You get a taste of 3 different types of pizza, as well as a glass of wine/drink. The CRUST on these pizzas! The original flavor combos that I had never had before! Our eyes were buggin'. Then the actual tour began... Rome is so beautiful at night. The photos you get to take are epic. Because it was at night, there was less people at the Trevi Fountain and we got to take the ubiquitous photo and throw coins (that Matteo provided) into the fountain. It was cold, but my hubs loved it from behind Matteo, and I could bundle up in the sidecar with a hot water bag and blanket Matteo provided. I was COZY, and smiling from ear to ear. Expect to have people point and smile at you while you coast through town as it's not often you see sidecars in Rome. Also... side note... Roman driver are Aggressive. And I've lived in NYC & LA... But they are confident drivers, so 3 inches of space between vehicles is all they need. Just know you are being driven by very experienced drivers. All in all. I think this is a must if you're coming to ROME for the first time. Trust me when I say, you're going to want to be driven around some while vacationing there. Rome is exhausting to walk, with it's hills, steps, and general largeness. Let's someone educate you and show you the sites of Rome while you relax and rest your feet.
This is soooo much fun. Do the evening vespa ride with pizza. Barbara provided excellent narrative to our sightseeing and our vespa drivers were superb. You will not regret this adventure
Fantastic, fun, and informative. Super fun evening tour with great, gourmet pizza in a very cool and relaxed atmosphere. The driver, a true "Roman" as we learned was awesome, helpful, thoughtful, a great driver and guide, and provided great customer service. The actual tour guide, was so informative and guided you through the city with explanations and wonderful history lessons. It was nice to see the city and all the tourist spots at night and save time with driving around the city instead of covering it by walking. A great way to see the city if you are short on time. The only draw back is you dont have much time at SOME locations to take pictures and my headset only worked in one ear so was a little tough to hear Monica our guide all the time. It was a very fun experience and worth the cost for it.
Amazing family activity! Our guides were phenomenal, the pizza dinner was great, and we got a great sense of Rome as a whole. Even with small children, we felt safe. It’s a “must do” activity in Rome!
Such a fun tour for our first night in Rome! You see so much of the city and the pizza was fantastic. Great drivers and Monica was a wonderful guide.
Do this tour as soon as you can when arriving in Rome! It’s so much fun riding through the streets sightseeing, and watching people’s reactions when we rode by was priceless. The pizza stop was delicious and much more than we expected. The restaurant was very beautiful and we ate our fill of several pizzas. Everything was very professional yet very warm and friendly. The drivers were fantastic, helpful and unfailingly polite and kind. Our tour guide Barbara has a superior knowledge of Rome and a wonderful sense of humor. Our party of 4 had a really good time! Thank you :)
What a fun time-so beautiful to see Rome at night and cover so much of the city. Lovely scenic stops and the guide gave so many details and pointed out sights to see that normally a tourist might miss. Great night!!
KIA ORA FROM NZ THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTE MEMORABLE HIGHLIGHT FROM OUR TRIP TO ITALY. THANK YOU TO BARBARA FOR HER INCREDIBLE COMMENTARY, PHOTO STOPS AND HUMOUR. WE HAD THE WONDERFUL EVENING. THE VESPA LADS WERE EXCELLENT TOO :) GRAZIE
Amazing experience! This was the best and most fun tour my family and I have ever taken. This is a MUST DO for anyone visiting Rome!!! The pizza was also the best ever. My wife and kids said the same thing. We saw just about everything you could imagine and it was topped off by the night time stop atop a the Colosseum! Thank you VespaSideCar Tours.
This was so much fun. Great tour of Rome, great pizza stop, the bikes were comfortable. My face hurt I laughed and smiled so much!
Did the evening tour with 2 adults and 3 kids (10, 12 and 14) in August 2025. The tour started at 7pm and ended about 10-1030pm. We all had a blast. It was such a great and efficient way to see the city. Claudio our guide was super chill and took very nice pictures. We had 3 Vespa drivers (main driver was Alessandro) which guided us safely through Rome. I highly recommend this Vespa with Sidecar tour, especially if you have kids:). Thanks for a great time Claudio, Alessandro and Co.
Vespa Tour in Rome – A Night to Remember! If you're looking for a truly unforgettable way to experience Rome, this Vespa tour is it. From the moment we hopped on those iconic scooters, it felt like we were starring in our own Italian film—zipping through cobblestone alleys, breezing past ancient ruins, and soaking in the magic of the Eternal City under a blanket of stars. The Drivers: Local Legends Our drivers, Alice, Orso and Allesandro were phenomenal—friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. Our guide Claudio was so knowledgeable as well as fun and enthusiastic. They knew every shortcut, hidden piazza, and scenic overlook in the city. It wasn’t just a tour; it was a masterclass in Roman street smarts. They navigated the backstreets with ease, avoiding the tourist crowds and giving us a glimpse of the real Rome. Rome by Night: Pure Enchantment Seeing the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and St. Peter’s Basilica lit up at night was surreal. The city takes on a whole new personality after dark—quieter, more romantic, and absolutely breathtaking. We stopped often for photos, stories, and just to marvel at the beauty around us. Dinner: A Culinary Delight The evening included dinner at a charming local restaurant. Pizza and wine that were amazing. Best Tour Ever I’ve done plenty of tours in plenty of cities, but this one tops them all. It was intimate, exhilarating, and packed with personality. Book this tour. You won’t regret it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Vespa Sidecar Experience in Rome! This Vespa sidecar tour was the absolute highlight of our trip to Rome! From start to finish, it was a fabulous experience. The 3-hour tour included a stop for dinner at a charming restaurant where we enjoyed some of the most delicious pizza we've had, perfectly paired with wine. Our tour guide, Claudio, was outstanding — incredibly informative, fun, and full of energy. He brought the history and stories of Rome to life while keeping the experience light and engaging. His vibrant personality made the evening even more enjoyable. A huge shoutout as well to the amazing drivers: Alice, Orso, and Aliessandro. They expertly navigated the narrow and often chaotic streets of Rome with ease and confidence. We felt completely safe and comfortable the entire time. This tour was a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and cuisine — a unique way to see the city and one we’ll never forget. We cannot recommend this company more highly. If you're visiting Rome, this is a must-do. 5 stars all the way! Joe and Jo 🛵
Super fun tour! We were a group of 4, with one teenager. We did the evening tour with pizza tasting and everyone had a great time. It was definitely the highlight for our 14 yr old! The restaurant and pizza were amazing. After dinner, off we went on our tour. We got to explore the city in a fun and unique way! The headsets were a little glitchy so we couldnt always hear clearly, but it didnt matter. Taking in the sights of Rome this way was so fun. The guide/drivers were great, making sure we got great pics at the key spots. A couple of friends thought it would be dangerous, but never i felt unsafe. (Both -behind the driver and in the sidecar). All in all i highly recommend this tour. I would do it again!
I've experienced this 2 times. A morning and evening tour. Both are great. The drivers and guides are genuinely nice people and want to ensure you have a great experience. Evening tour was especially nice. Rome at night is beautiful. Pizza tasting was really a pizza meal....at a beautiful restaurant.
The tour is so much fun and they will take you through all the fun areas of Rome. The staff is excellent and the pizzeria was delicious. We enjoyed chatting with some nice Ausies and a Canadian. It’s fun and interesting to meet new people! This was the highlight for us.
We loved it. amazing pizza tasting in a very good and special spot. The tour is fantastic. It is the perfect way to see rome, way from crowds and heat. Very very nice and cool. Wo can really feel the energy of the city and the history of the town.
This tour was spectacular! Monica our tour guide and every one of the drivers were welcoming and approachable from moment one! What a unique way to see Rome. Monica was so knowledgeable - definitely went above and beyond expectations in terms of showing us all of Rome’s treasures and also little bits of information which we hadn’t learnt on other tours. Our daughters 11 and 8 felt so welcome and despite the late finish loved it right to the end! The evening tour is a great idea to beat some of the middle of day heat and see some of Rome’s landmarks after dark which was very special. Bikes were easy to ride and we all felt super safe. The pizza dinner was also delicious! Thanks Monica and team!
This was one of the best activities we did while we were in Italy! I highly recommend this for a family with teenagers. Our tour guide was excellent, with terrific English. She was extremely knowledgable and warm. Our vespa drivers were also quite nice and helpful, and made it very fun. We all enjoyed the pizza, the sights, and the overall experience!
We did the evening tour and it was so much fun. Zipping around Rome in the sidecar was a quick, fun and informative way to see the city's ancient sites. As we zipped through the crowds people smiled at all of us in amazement. It was a highlight of our time in Rome. Would highly recommend it.
We had an amazing time on this tour! What great memories we made last night on this trilling tour! To think we travelled all over Rome on motorcycles. Our drivers knew what they were doing and our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about all historic areas we stopped to visit.
I seriously seriously cannot say enough good things about this tour. The guides knew the city so well, were so accommodating and showed us the city of rome so well! This is a must do, and I would 10 / 10 recommend doing the night tour. Colloseum at night is STUNNING!!!!
Absolutely spectacular tour!!! A MUST when visiting Rome! Pictures in front of Colusseum at night were amazing! Our guide Claudio and drivers Alladsandro and Renzo were the BEST! They made it so fun. Best night in Rome!
Amazing experience, best way to explore Rome, the guide was very knowledgeable and kind, the pizzas we had were top class and would recommend this to everyone who is visiting Rome to get to know the history and get an overview of Rome as a city
Amazing experience a must do when in Rome!! This is one of the best things one should do, great guide and delicious Pizza
A Must-Do Experience in Rome – Perfect for Families with Young Kids! Our Vespa sidecar tour through Rome was hands-down the highlight of our entire European trip! From the moment we were picked up, everything about the experience was seamless, professional, and so much fun. We were traveling with our 5-year-old, and as any parent knows, safety and comfort are non-negotiable—and this tour delivered both in spades. The sidecars were not only stylish and charming but also incredibly well-maintained and secure. Our little one was securely strapped in, provided with a properly fitting helmet, and had the time of their life! The guides were warm, engaging, and passionate about Rome’s history, and they made every stop feel like a storybook coming to life. We saw all the iconic sights—the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Vatican—and so much more that we never would have discovered on our own. Cruising through the cobbled streets with the breeze in our hair while learning the secrets of the Eternal City was simply magical. It was the perfect way to take in the beauty of Rome without the long walks or crowded buses, and our child’s excitement made it even more unforgettable. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, especially for families. It was safe, thrilling, and beyond memorable—a unique way to see the city that we’ll treasure forever. If you’re visiting Rome and want something truly special, this is it.
The team of guys taking us around Rome was truly amazing! They always made sure we were comfortable and could hear the audio commentary on the tour. They were so sweet in asking if we needed blankets as it got cold and continuously got pictures for us and their driving made me feel extremely safe in all aspects of the city. They were kind and constantly showed that they cared. Claudio was an amazing guide and the fact that he gave out coins of his wallet while we were at the Trevi fountain was so nice. I highly recommend these guys a 1000 times over
It was an unforgettable and fun night tour in Rome! The pizza with wine dinner was a bonus. Special thanks to Claudio and his team who took such great care of us!
