Embark on a fascinating underground tour of the Catacombs, taking you into the unusual history of Rome. Learn about how dating almost 2,000 years to the 2nd century AD, this extensive network of underground tunnels was once a burial ground and a place of worship for the first Christians in Rome.

I recently took the Rome’s Bone Chapel and Catacombs: Skulls, Crypts and City Ride tour, and it was easily one of the highlights of my trip! If you are looking for something a bit deeper and more atmospheric than the standard Colosseum tour, this is it. The Highlights: Seamless Logistics: The tour includes a bus ride, which was a huge relief. The staff were incredibly helpful, clearly explaining exactly where to go and how to navigate each site, making the whole experience stress-free. Intimate Atmosphere: I was pleasantly surprised that the crypt tour felt personal. The group size was small, and the sites weren't overly crowded, which allowed us to actually take in the exhibits and appreciate the eerie beauty of the bone chapels. Fascinating Exhibits: The history is incredible. Seeing the intricate displays of skulls and bones in the Capuchin Crypt is something you truly have to see in person to understand. Overall, it was a well-organized and deeply interesting way to spend a few hours in Rome. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to see a different side of the city's history!
This was a good experience for those good with managing your experiences and expectations. Must haves - skip the lines pass , hours the bone crypt is open and a full, full day to jump on and off the bus. Not a good trip for people on a schedule. Need time to eat and walk around and not worried about getting back to your cruise ship.
Visiting the Capuchin Crypt was a truly unique and thought-provoking experience. The site is well organized and incredibly fascinating, offering a deep insight into history and symbolism. A special mention goes to the Touristation staff, who were extremely helpful and professional. Everything was well managed from start to finish. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something different and meaningful in Rome!
Unfortunately our transfer between the catacombs and the crypt was unable to make it so we had to make our own way to the crypt, but the operator gifted us another excursion for the inconvenience. The catacombs were so interesting. It's VERY cold underground so definitely wrap up if you go. The tour guide was not as engaging as we've experienced with other trips in Rome, but she got the information across. We sat in a room for 20 mins before setting off for the excursion watching an AI video on historical Rome which was a little unrelated, and the transfer driver to the catacombs didn't give us a time to return, so we ended up sitting on the transport for a long time waiting for others when we could have grabbed a warm coffee and spent a little more time wandering about. Overall the experience was good but could have been much better organised. The crypt was so cool, seeing all the bones in each section and learning all about the history.
Very interesting to see the different catacombs and how they honored people. A must see for any history buff
This tour company is the worst - the tour was ok, but my son went with a different company and actually received a tour. What I received was transportation with a ticket. ZERO information from the company. I could have bought my own tickets and walked or taken an Uber for less. This company did nothing for me. My son received a lot of information. This guide didn't speak more than 2 words to us and when we exited the crypts the van and guide were just gone - no nothing. We were never told that they would just be gone. I would never recommend Touristation. The catacombs and crypts were great - just take a different tour company to do it. My son had all kinds of information after his tour that I never received.
A lot of time was on a video and commentary before ever seeing anything. Once we went in the catacombs it was cool to see however we had almost 20 people in our group and at the back of the line I missed everything that was said because I was too far away. Then when the group moved I tried to hurry and see what they were looking at the whole time. The group behind us was too close and all I could hear was a French speaking guide and that group. Need more space between groups and a few less people per group. I would go directly to the catacombs and get a ticket there was no line don’t waste $ and time on a 20 minute video. The crypt was cool and self guided so you aren’t rushed through. I would do the crypt again. Don’t go through a tour company they waste time and your $ on these two things.
We booked the Catacombs. It was very interesting. Definitely something to check out if you’re interested. Julia was a super nice and great guide.
The Catacombs were the best tour ever! And I travel endless times per year! However, our driver did not speak English & left us at the Cript after the catacombs. I had left my items in his van. My husband had to run to get them! Crazy!!!
Don't bother, absolute rip off. Basically you're paying a massive fee just to be driven between 2 places. Do yourself a favour and just pay ticket price at the venue.
Catacumbas are impressive, I enjoy this tour, we had transfer. Our guide explains everything very good , 👍 I recomend this tour.
Our experience with Touristation was exceptional from start to finish, and I highly recommend their services to anyone visiting Rome. We booked a tour to the catacombs of St. Callistus, which are located outside of the city center. While I’m usually not a fan of organized tours, this was the best option for exploring such an iconic site. The logistics were handled seamlessly, allowing us to fully enjoy the journey without any worries. The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly our driver, Alessandro. He wasn’t just a driver—he was an entertainer and a proud Roman ambassador. Alessandro went above and beyond to engage with the group, sharing fascinating stories about Rome’s history and pointing out hidden gems that tourists often overlook. His energy and enthusiasm made the trip even more memorable. For anyone looking to experience a well-organized, enjoyable, and insightful tour outside of the typical tourist spots in Rome, Touristation is a fantastic choice. And if you’re lucky enough to get Alessandro as your driver, consider yourself in for a real treat. Five stars for Touristation and a 10/10 for Alessandro!
It was an insightful experience to the catacombs. wonderful service from Alima from Touristation. Glad to make this trip.
We had an excellent guide, named Mark. It’s amazing how many tunnels and tombs there are here. Definitely wear walking shoes
We booked this last minute when our other tour got canceled. It was a fun tour- interesting sites and easy transport between the sites. The tour is self guided at the Capuchin monestary which is fine with the audio tour. The catacomb has a guide but there isn’t a ton to see - nonetheless interesting.
The guide did not provide any historical information. They are essentially a taxi service. They also left us at our last stop and did not.bring us back to the starting point like my ticket said they would.
This was a really interesting and informative tour. The only issue was that the tour guide, as knowledgeable and friendly as she was, didn’t speak English really well for an English speaking tour and made it difficult to understand and follow what she was explaining at times.
If you're short on time, this is a good tour to do. If you have more time, there are cheaper options. This tour includes entry to two locations: the capuchin crypt in the centre of Rome (not far from the Spanish steps), and the Domitilla Catacombs on the outskirts of town. Entry to both will set you back maybe €30 or so in total, and you can just walk up to each location and buy an entry ticket. At the Capuchin crypt there isn't timed entry (audio guide only so you can go in at your own pace), but at the catacombs you would have to wait until a guide can take you around (you can't just go in and wander at your own pace). Of the two, the catacombs is the more interesting experience, but the crypt is more central. So what you're paying for here is the private transfer to quickly take you from Rome to the catacombs, the perfectly-timed entry to the catacombs, the private transfer back to the crypt, and then a self-guided tour of the crypt. The private transfer is quick and comfortable. So, if you're short on time like I was this tour makes total sense. If you have more time, you can save some (well, quite a lot of) money and just do it yourself using a. Taxi or public transport. The tour was a good experience and I'd probably book it again if I only had a few hours to see something cool in Rome.
Very interesting tour. The staff at the meeting point Touristation was fantastic. Thank you Marcella for helping me. 🙏. I will recommend this to everybody that will visit Rome.
Amazing underground experience of the ancient roman cemetery. The organisation was perfect. We met at the Touristation office close to Piazza Venezia. The staff were kind helpful and very efficient. We took 15 min ride on open-top minibus, driving by some fantastic sites. The guide was friendly and professional. All went very well. We recommend this tour with Touristation.
One of the highlights of this tour was the dedicated transfer service. It made the whole experience hassle-free, allowing us to focus on the sights and stories rather than navigating public transport or finding our way around.
Our group had at least 10-15min less tour in french then the other groups. Don't take it at the end of the days like 15h30. The chauffeur that drives you doesn't speak french or english. He drive into crowds for no reasons and he drive fast...at one point, we got out and didn't even finish the journey at the capuchin cryps. We started at 15h30, it was 18h15 whrn we got out and wr had like 12min of tour only and we werr still driving we don't know where. No communications I really don't reccomend that agency, a lost of time and money
Scam company- beware. I booked a tour to the catacombs with Touristation (MP Tours) for myself and my kids through my hotel. They sent me a email confirming our tour, we went there but there was no one at the meeting point. They scammed us and never picked us up. When I called them to find out where they were, they said we missed the tour and there was nothing they could do. I asked if we could go to the catacombs to meet them and they didn’t tell me which catacombs it was and said sorry, you missed the tour. They took €160 from me and didn’t pick us up. They are a scam company, be careful with them.
The good organization, the bus ride with Alejandro was very entertaining and pleasant and the guided tour of Calixto catacomb very interesting
Overall very interesting, although not guided in its entirety and missing information. The bus section is not fluid. In my case I had to wait 30 minutes (it should be 10) and I almost did not reach the catacombs of the Capuchins.
Very suggestive and fascinating visit in the heart of Rome that I absolutely recommend!
Great tour, well organized and interesting. The staff was really friendly, helpful and professional throughout the experience. Thank you all for the welcome and attention, highly recommended!
It was a wonderful tour, we really enjoyed it all. First we were taken on a catacomb tour, and then they took us to Cryptus Cappuccini. Everything was super organized, we felt it was going right. Advise everyone 😊
Very nice visit with a very friendly guide!! The Capuchin crypt is breathtaking. A good organization also thank you.
Interesting experience! Exciting story about the catacombs and was pleasantly surprised by the gripping atmosphere. Easy to get around with the help of the bus and nice guide.
Super activity, very well organized and a very nice and interesting escort and driver! I recommend
Incredible visit, Descent into another time. Very pleasant French speaking guide. We made a great discovery. Thanks to Alima for her kindness
The visit I really liked, and 'was a unique opportunity to introduce my guests and to know myself of the places of Rome of unsuspected charm. Convenient meeting point in the center of Rome and the opportunity to make the transfer. I'm going to take other friends to visit Rome because it's out of the ordinary and it's absolutely fascinating
Alima super nice her explanations were perfect we understood everything from start to finish, a guide at the top. I would recommend to anyone who wants to visit with her. Very smiling very welcoming.
Thank you very much to Alima who was great. Very interesting and thought-provoking tour of the history of Rome. Mysterious place full of history of Rome.
A great visit animated with passion by Alima!! Really a great experience. At the end, a good ice cream!!!!!
This tour was very interesting and we were chauffeured on a private shuttle bus and did not have to walk from the catabombs to the next bus stop like some other groups. The interpreter was extremely nice!!!!
Very nice visit with Alima She knows her subject and cross-references the history of Rome and other visits To advise!!
Great visit with Alima! I recommend the visit of the underground fountain which is very informative thanks to our Guide
We had a very good visit. There was a good organization. The welcome was very warm. Thank you for everything
The visit is something unique, fascinating and new compared to the rest of the known attractions in Rome. The organization was perfect: from Piazza Ara Coeli where we collected the Capuchin tickets in an office with free wi fi for waiting guests, we took the transfer, went to the catacombs and then to the Capuchin crypt. Jessica who welcomed us into the office was super nice! Highly recommended for anyone who wants to see something different in Rome.
